Yep Michelle Pfeiffer, not Kim Basinger. And what's not to like, the director was Richard Donner, who among other things directed Superman, Lethal Weapon, The Omen, The Goonies... Soundtrack by Alan Parsons Share this post Link to post
Posted March 17, 2014 Okay, back to the collection to dig it out for a re-watch. Great film! Anyone know The Forbidden Planet? Of course! Along with anyone else who paid attention at the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Lyrics from the opening song, Science Fiction, Double Feature: "Anne Francis stars in Forbidden Planet..." Very nice sci-fi take on Shakespeare, too. It's very like The Tempest... space captain instead of sea captain, private planet instead of island, robot instead of sprite/spirit... but both have the hermit father and beautiful daughter with whom the ship-/space-wrecked captain falls in love and all that other fun stuff. And yes, I'm another who thinks Ladyhawke is awesome. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) That Hagen Girl or The Bachelor and the Bobysoxer Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, Anyone remember Disney's Black Cauldron? I've seen some of the mentioned films like Day of the Triffids (read it too), Howl's Moving Castle, Unico in the Island of Magic part of Cube Hated it, Heathers, Billy Budd, The Rocketeer I've also heard of a few of the others like Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead. Dragongrrll The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh was a fantastic three part Wonderful World Of Disney Show. My husband loved it and we used to watch it when it would come on the Disney Chanel every once in awhile. http://www.raredvds.biz/Dr_Syn_The_Scarecr...crow_romney.htm might be of help to you. Posted March 18, 2014 The Navigator, a movie about a village in medieval England trying to escape the black death by tunneling through the earth to bring an offering to a church on the other side of the world. (which happens to be in present day New Zealand.) It's not a badly made movie, but gosh is it weird. Not just the plot, the entire filming style is like something out of a dream. Posted March 18, 2014 king and the clown I don't know what to tell you, I don't even know why I like it so much all I can say is the ending is just beautiful and sad Share this post Link to post

Posted March 18, 2014 Fargo. Has anybody heard of that? It got nominated for an Oscar but apparently nobody I've met has watched it. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 19, 2014 Fargo is a great Motion Picture. It won Best Actress for Frances McDormand. She was fantastic as the pregnant sheriff. I admit it was unusual and is billed as a black comedy. Death humor will make for black comedy. Anyone remember The Last Unicorn? It was so sad. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 19, 2014 Anyone remember The Last Unicorn? It was so sad. I watched that a lot as a small child, though I don't remember much now (I should probably rewatch it). I think it scared me, actually. Share this post Link to post

(which happens to be in present day New Zealand.) It's not a badly made movie, but gosh is it weird. Not just the plot, the entire filming style is like something out of a dream. I saw a movie that nobody seems to know... The Navigator: A medieval odyssey. Australian movie directed by Vincent Ward, who 10 years later would direct that beauty called What dreams may come. "Men seeking relief from the Black Death, guided by a boy's vision, dig a tunnel from 14th century England to 20th century New Zealand." Love that movie About Fargo, I read somewhere that they are making a series out of it, with Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 20, 2014 Ladyhawke is so beautiful... My girlfriend and I watched Ghost Shark recently. or rather she watched it and i was only there for emotional support. Which was unneccessary. some scenes were really gross, so i can understand why it was rated over 18, but mostly it was rhidicularious. A more enjoyable movie with a dry and VERY morbid sense of humour is 'Delicatessen', a danish movie about two butchers who want to start up their own business and accidentally lock the guy who installs their lighting in the cold room and want to hide/get rid of the body. It has two side stories and is a really good watch if you share the humour and are at an appropriate age. also over 18. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 20, 2014 Loved Fargo and The Last Unicorn. <3 The Artist was a good movie I enjoyed, a recent silent film. I don't think I've met anyone who has seen it... or liked it. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) Anyone seen Eight Legged Freaks? 2002 Comedy Horror... Yet to meet anyone outside my own family who's seen it. As for movies others have mentioned: I remember I used to like The Last Unicorn when I was little, but hardly remember it now. Loved History of the World: Part 1 and Spaceballs, as well... Flight of the Navigator was also good. =] I'm watching my DVD of what I believe has to be one of the greatest time travel movies of all time, The Final Countdown. My dad and I love that movie. ^^ Edited March 20, 2014 by Sean175 Share this post Link to post
