Posted December 18, 2013 Modern Times is a classic And omg we watched Pi last night or the night before... strange movie, made me dizzy I had a copy of Pi, but ended up selling it because I don't think I can watch it again. I can understand how you felt dizzy - it is really jarring to watch. Anything Chaplin is a classic. <3 Share this post Link to post
Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Alright, of those already mentioned I know (have watched): Howls Moving Castle (read the book first, loved it, watched the movie, could barely watch it.) Black Sheep Moon (which was great) Pandorum Shock Treatment (though... I prefer not to remember it. I'd always heard it was bad, but... just... wow.) The Computer Who Wore Tennis Shoes (a looong time ago, I barely remember it.) Equestria Girls (Not as bad as I expected, still prefer the regular FIM series) Toy Story (How is this anything other than mainstream?) History of the World Part 1 (I grew up watching this, not sure how I got away with that. It may have colored my sense of humor a bit.) Chicken Run (I think my parents still have that on VHS somewhere...) The Great Mouse Detective (can't believe this would be considered obscure) Spirited Away (ditto above) The Cat From Outer Space How about: The Bad Seed (1956) Un Chien Andalou Princess Mononoke (probably more mainstream than I realize) Identity (I feel like no one else knows this one) Edit: You've all seen Spinal Tap, right? Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Maybe you have heard of them, but they're still worth checking out in case you haven't. Sorry the list is so long. Repo: The Genetic Opera (not to be confused with the great movie Repo that has no singing, but does have organ repossession) Rocky Horror Picture Show (if you've not seen this, shame on you, go do it right now!) Silver Linings Playbook (I'm sure you've heard of it, it's relatively new & Jennifer Lawrence got an Academy Award for it, but it's still great and you need to watch it...and The Hunger Games films and read those books ) The Poker House The Burning Plain The Beaver (edited to add this movie, which is brilliant) Less Than Zero (it's amazing and sad and omg) Fur Two Girls and a Guy Adventures in Babysitting Weird Science Saved! Charlie Bartlett Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks II (and you have to watch them in that order) Spaceballs Ghost Writer (sadly not the tv show of the same name, but still good) Ginger Snaps The Goonies (again, if you've not seen it, shame on you and do it now) Heart and Souls House (it's so ridiculous) & House II (if you can find it) Nobody's Perfect One Night Stand Problem Child (1 & 2) A Scanner Darkly Waiting... These Girls Twister Village of the Damned The Virgin Suicides Waxwork Some of the movies I've seen mentioned I've seen, like Spirited Away (amazing!), Howl's Moving Castle, Black Sheep (are you talking about the one with Chris Farley?) and Cube (Cube Zero and Hyper Cube). GhostMouse, Identity was amazing! Edited December 19, 2013 by miss1nformation Share this post Link to post
Posted December 19, 2013 A scanner darkly, indeed. I watch all the movies I find based on Philip K. Dick books or stories Share this post Link to post

Posted January 10, 2014 Kotonoha no Niwa/Garden of Words Oh my god that animation, that beautiful animation, it's so detailed. And the movie itself is really nice. Everything Makoto Shinkai makes is basically gold. I love this amv using his anime The Place Promised in our Early Days. Share this post Link to post

Posted January 19, 2014 Pitch Black Such a great movie, but no one I know has ever heard of it. With Vin Diesel, IIRC was the first in the Riddick saga. Love it Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2014 I own Pitch Black on DVD and have for several years. Love the Riddick series. <3 ~ I saw tons of previews for Rubber. I would have watched it with a group of friends to laugh at it, but I didn't have a group of friends. x3 Share this post Link to post
Posted January 21, 2014 Some old ones: A place in the sun-staring Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor. The Heiress-staring Montgomery Clift. And many more of his movies that never are on TV anymore, nor can they be found on DVDs. Love both of those, especially The Heiress. Paperhouse. 1988 La Planète Sauvage (or The Fantastic Planet) 1973 Share this post Link to post

Posted February 28, 2014 La Planète Sauvage (or The Fantastic Planet) 1973 Okay, back to the collection to dig it out for a re-watch. Great film! Anyone know The Forbidden Planet? Share this post Link to post
Posted March 2, 2014 All's quiet on the western front. I' ve seen it and I've read it. Great film, but it isn't unknown. All the classical novels that filmed are known, like "the grapes of wrath", another great movie. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 2, 2014 I'm watching my DVD of what I believe has to be one of the greatest time travel movies of all time, The Final Countdown. Share this post Link to post
