An Abundance of Voices

It is not easy to make it through this world. Every three steps you manage, you stumble back five. For every new thing on the market, there is a new regulation to control another aspect of your life. The birth of a new luxury is the death of another liberty, and slowly we become enslaved to a world which is much more materialistic than we had ever wanted it to be.

You and I, we are day by day people. We do everyday things. We watch everyday programs. We worry everyday worries. We wake up every morning and eat our bland eggs and get ready for our dead-end jobs. We don't know where we are going in life. We are just going because we are told to go. We are doing what we are told and that is all to it.

But today is different. Today we are walking down Main St. to answer phones and troubleshoot for enraged customers of our typically bland and uninteresting corporation, or to wash windows, or to teach a class at the community college that we despise, when we stumble upon someone we have not ever seen before. Typically beggars in this town are regulars, hardly ever varying from the norm, but this man is new, and strange. He asks us to spare some change, so we drop him a couple quarters in his plastic mug.

His tattered blanket and putrid sweater rustle as he grabs our arm and pleads to us, "Do you hear the voices? The voices, the voices..." We shake our head and tell him we don't understand, but we are lying. We are lying to him and ourselves and the world. We hear these voices, these foreign voices that taunt us about our ignorance to our slavery to society and to what drones we have become, but we put them on the back burner again and again.

We are not human. We are heroes. And our children lie dormant underneath the surface. It is time to awaken.

Plot

The dragons and the humans have never met on agreeable terms. The most notable of the instances was when Ameriacn scientist, Oliver Cromwell, captured a skywing hatchling and fused its DNA with that of a human fetus, creating an anthro with the ability to morph from dragon to human, but this poor boy could not hide his sizable sapphire wings from the rest of his race. Rather than try and integrate the creature into society, the scientist captured a magi and fused its DNA with another fetus, this time producing a female. He raised the two as animals, despite their very real human emotions. Countless experiments were conducted on the pair, and few were actually based out of reason. The madman's cruel curiosity overpowered his ethics, and as soon as the pair reached their late teens, he could not resist breeding them. The two had not consented to it.

The feral instinct of the dragon-borne slew the scientist. They had no idea to blend into this complex and frightening human society, so they ran as far as they could from it. They were taken in by an old woman and her granddaughter, taught the ways of civilization, and their secret was kept quiet. The female, who had taken on the name Nicolette, birthed her daughter, who was also raised in the ways of humankind. The male, Benjamin, began his own family in the country, and remained there until his death.

It was in the eighty years of these two mutants existence's that the dragon races were slain by humankind. First it was the golden dragons, then the silvers, and the pinks. The human race lavished itself in the gorgeous jewelry and decor that the scales of the dragons made, driving these rare breeds to extinction. After losing the shallow reason to hunt dragons, a small organization of scientists and activists captivated and domesticated the more docile species, such as the whites and the skywings, for use in rural areas. Soon after, the energy of the electric and ember dragons was harnessed, without thought to their well-being. These species, too, were driven to extinction. More common species, such as canopy dragons, were killed simply because they were deemed pests. In eighty years, all of the North American dragons had vanished, leaving behind only their eggs.

Every hero traces back to these two ancestors. It has been over a century, but the dragon blood has spread considerably throughout the population. Heroes have a tendency to be fleeting, but also passionate. They are easily angered, and possess distinctive ridges on their backs where wings should have emerged, but were masked by human DNA. The homeless man is not a homeless man. He is a messenger. Find the eggs that lie dormant under La Ciudad de los Dragones, and awake them to take back the lands that were stolen from your ancestors. There is no time for diplomacy.

The revolution has begun.

Setting

This story takes place in the fictional, modern-day city of La Ciudad de los Dragones, California. Better know as Dragones, the city is located on the west coast and known for its golden beaches and eccentric neighborhoods. Although the more urbanized areas of the city are more industrial and business-oriented, the suburbs and outskirts of town are exciting tourist destinations.

Most of the population here is lower middle class, so apartments and duplexes are very common, as well as small-businesses and food carts or trucks. There is a rich art and music scene in Dragones, as well a superb private school known as The Goddard School. Beyond the Goddard School, unfortunately, the education in Dragones is sub-par.

While the older generation of residents here harbor traditional values, the youth of the city are bringing in great changes, both negative and positive. Although the community has become more accepting through art and music, a drug and alcohol scene has also become more prevalent in some of the less fortunate parts of the city.

Characters

Name: Lana Jones

Gender: F

Age: 21

Human/Hero: Hero

Appearance: Slender, hourglass figure, tanned skin. Thick, smooth, orange hair, and bright green eyes. Defined eyebrows, plump lips. 5' 4"

Personality: Lana is a very reserved character. She is very candid, but prefers to keep to herself. She does not hesitate to insult someone if they are irritating her. Despite her character, she never shies from a challenge.

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Lana was born in Buffalo, New York. She was put up for adoption by her biological mother, Nicole, who could afford to support her child. Lana's father, James, was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison for statutory rape. Due to her unstable family life, Lana grew up in foster care. Although this path appeared to pull her out of a possibly terrible situation, her life actually took a turn for the worse. Her foster parents scarred her with verbal and physical abuse, and at the age of sixteen she emancipated herself from her guardians, drove to Dragones, and got a job and an apartment. Now that she's 21, she's constantly at the casino, gambling, drinking, and flirting with guys. But when she's home, she is the complete opposite of her party persona -- paranoid, sad, and lonely. Her neighbors know her as the girl who paints distorted, Burton-esque self portraits.

Other: ///

Name: Roxy Green

Gender: Female

Age: 19

Human/Hero: Hero

Appearance: Slightly chubby, though not overweight. Dark brown hair. Brown eyes. She is 6' 4"

Personality: Rather odd and energetic around her friends, will be shy around strangers, unless a desire to befriend them appears. Is introverted and likes to spend time by herself after meeting with friends. Glasses

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Roxy had a pretty average childhood, nothing exploded, nobody died. Roxy was born in Dallas, Texas. She always had an interest in dragons, as was partly related to them, after all. When the dragon breeds were driven to extinction, she was upset. But she felt there were still some dragons, somehow. When she was 18, she left Texas and moved to Dragones, California. She has a talent in art, and opened an art shop online to make extra money.

Other: She has a pet cockatiel named Sunny. ((Is that the type of stuff that goes here?))

Name:Rain

Gender:Female

Age: 19

Human/Hero: Hero?

Appearance:

-Eyes: Storm Grey -Hair: A dirty blonde with blonde (natural) highlights -Skin: Tan -Height: 5'6" -Weight: 116 lbs -Build: Muscular

-Clothes: •Black Sweatshirt

•Solid Grey T-Shirt

•Dirty jeans

•Convers that are beginning to fall apart

*Her 'distinct ridges' are beginning to become more and more detailed...

Personality: Rain is the silent, indtidating type. Her icy look tends to put people off and send them the other way. She doesn't trust easily, if at all. And she is kind of dark. Not quite emo, but not a cheerful person either. (Kind of like Batman...)

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Life for Rain sucked. Her mother died in labor, leaving her with her dad. Her dad cared for her, but began turning to alcohol to drown his sorrows; leaving Rain to fend for herself. She went to school, and was constantly picked on. One day, she snapped, and ended up beating her bully to a bloody pulp. Thus began her interest in self-defense. She went to martial arts, and Judo as a young girl. Her father continued to grow worse, until he met another woman at a local bar. They were quickly married. Since Rain's step-mom first saw Rain, she's hated her. Always "forgetting" to feed her. Rain's father had sobered up, but not enough to realize what was going on under his nose. One day, when Rain was in her room changing, her step-mom waltzed in and saw her back. Rain was around sixteen then. She shrieked and called her a monster and "servant of the devil." That's when Rain snapped and attacked her. She'd had enough of her crap. Soon after of giving her step-mom what she deserved, Rain packed up clothes, food, and some money, and fled. Never turning back. She blocked those memories. Rain also changed her name, from Ame, to Rain. She'd forgotten her last name, or really, cut off all connections to her past life.

Along her journey to the west coast, she acquired a hunting knife, and a Springfield 9 mm from a concerned gentleman (He had a daughter that had been nearly abducted when she was 17). Rain didn't know it, but she was following the call to Dragones, CA.

Other: She is single. Though she doesn't warm up to people easily.

Name: Fina Aherin

Gender: Female

Age: 22

Human/Hero: Hero

Appearance: Tan with short ginger hair. Has caramel eyes and faded freckles on her face. Is rather short at 5'2 and is a little bit chubby. Has long limbs and a head that is a little bigger than it should be. Has a small button nose.

Personality: Fina is hotheaded. She snaps at everyone around her and can be incredibly rude. She doesn't like company and is more of a lone wolf. Even when friends with someone, she'll still be unintentionally mean to them. She doesn't make friends easily and doesn't care about sob stories or prophecies.

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Fina was born into a normal middle-class family. She never fit into the perfectly normal household as she was too much of an oddity. She didn't care about school or her social life, resulting in her getting bad grades and close to no friends. Because of her grades, Fina's parents made her go to a tutor. This tutor turned out to be Aidan, her only friend. After passing high school, Fina struggled with finding a job and a home. After living off of food stamps for two years, Aidan finally decided to let Fina crash at his place until she got back on her feet. Its been two years since then and Fina still hasn't gotten a job and spends her days reading through books at Aidan's house. She has a fascination in dragons, but never really thought about the whole descendents thing.

Other: Her personality is much like that of her dragon. She loves horses and is fascinated with fire.

Name: Vash

Gender: Female

Age: 21

Human/Hero: Human

Appearance: Vash is tiny by any standards, only standing at 4'9" but she is definitely not a 'little person' she simply drew the short end of the stick so to speak. She has a very pale complexion, long and thick raven black hair and eyes that are the prettiest of blue and almost crystalline in their appearance. She appears younger than she looks, something about her gene's makes her barely pass for 18 and that's when she plows on the make up and adds a pair of heels otherwise she looks like she is about 16 on a good day. She dresses often in darker clothing and her friends.. the few she had, always considered her Gothic in school but she doesn't like titles.

Personality: Vash is highly intelligent but unbelievably shy. Her timidness often gets in the way of things even though in her heart she wishes she could stand up and help anyone and everyone simply because that is just the type of girl that she is.

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Vash was born in Hollywood and she definitely fit the description that many used when they penned the term Hollyweird. She has a penchant for trouble even if she does her best to stay out of it, but for some reason it always happens to find her. She was a straight A student all the way through school and she graduated at the early age of 15 and went off to College to obtain her degree in Dragon / Human genetics by the time she reached twenty. She just took the last year to herself after dealing with many years of school on her quest to obtain the knowledge and the know how of being able to help fix some of the issues that science has created long before she was alive. She has big dreams and huge hopes of helping the world to understand the things that she does. She was just given a very special dragon egg that she has been taking care of to the best of her ability to try and get it to hatch so that she can learn from it but she still awaits to see just what type of Dragon it is. She had thought about testing the egg to get the details first but her fear of injuring the embryo inside has kept her from doing anything of the sort. While Vash was taking her vacation she and her egg were captured by some unknown criminals, who really wanted her egg and found that her education could come in help as well. Currently she is being held in some unknown building where the unknown criminals are working to play out their evil plot. ((An attempt to easily bring my character into the game? If you want me to NOT use it, that is fine as well. Just trying to help.))

Other:Vash has an eating disorder that she is trying to work through and is terribly allergic to cats. OoC I am open to almost anything. I tend to roll with the role play so if you have something in mind just shoot me a PM and let me know. Also, my posts may be very few at least until the weekend due to my injury but I should be on again a lot more often by Sunday at the latest!

Name: Seth

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Human/Hero: Hero

Appearance:

-Eyes: Icy Blue

-Hair: A dark brown at the roots, then turns to blonde almost right away. It falls to the middle of his neck.

-Skin: Tan

-Height: 5'9"

-Weight: 120 lbs

-Build: Built

-Clothes:

•White Surfer shirt

•Swim trunks

•Vans

*His ridges are barely noticeable.

Personality: Seth is very relaxed. He's quite the joker as well. Seth is your true Cali. Surfer boy. He's loose, and often is the one to keep the cool of a group. Although he seems goofy and immature, he's quite smart, and well, mature. In a serious situation, he's the one to fight with a smile, taunting enemies even. He goes with the flow.

When he's needed, and censorkip.gif is about to hit the fan, Seth is all business. The funny facade disappears, and he's out for blood. He has a rather, dank, past. He has a dark side, and though it rarely rears its ugly head, it's there.

In short, he's a funny guy, hiding his dark past. He's chosen to just move on.

Mostly anyway.

Biography: Seth was abused as a child. His mother was a crack addict, and his father a junkie. They were both often either high or drunk. They would beat him without warning at times. This had gone on for years. Until the one point when Seth snapped, and killed his parents.

They were scum, and deserved to die. His father, was a rapist, a petafile. And because his wife was always high, she never even knew, nor would've cared if she'd known. His father had abused many girls and eventually killed them. His mother was guilty to of a few deaths over drugs.

Seth had been to afraid to confess. They'd constantly threatened beatings, or even death. Although they still beat him daily. He always seemed to have a black eye, claiming he'd fallen down the stairs. Or a gash across his arm, he'd make up an excuse saying he cut it while sawing wood. When really, his own mother tried to stab him.

This brings us to the point, where Seth, now at the age of fifteen, snapped, and killed his parents. No one missed them.

Seth left his home in Northern California, traveling south. He'd stayed with a friendly surfer, whom of which became his fatherly idol. Cody (Age 42), Seth's fatherly model, taught him how to surf. As well as gave him a home, and home schooled Seth. Seth had told Cody what'd had happened. And Cody had replied with, "Thats in the past. You're here now. And here and the future is all that counts now." Seth keeps this to his heart, to this day.

Now sixteen, Seth had gotten a job, and continued surfing with Cody. He became laid back, and cool, as he is today.

One day, Seth had awoken from a vivid dream. It had awoken something inside him.

His Dragon Blood.

As he explained to Cody what'd happened, the man had only smiled. "Let your soul lead."

Seth left later that day, making his way to Dragones, CA.

As a gift for his 16th birthday, Cody had gotten Seth his own car. Which he'd used to travel to Dragones. He'd also brought along his surf board.

Now Seth has lived in Dragones for about half a year. He's gotten a job, and a phone, as well as a small apartment. He keeps in contact with Cody still, also.

Other: He hasn't met the mysterious man yet.

He also doesn't know about his Dragon Blood, at all. Though it was passed down from his grandfather, and through his mother (It skipped his mother).

He surfs everyday.

Name: Benjamin Cromwell

Gender: M

Age: 19

Human/Hero: Human

Appearance: Tall and lanky. Blue eyes, brown hair. Pale skin, rough complexion from acne scars and freckles. Overall often appears disheveled and out of place wherever he goes. Often dresses in clothing too big for him.

Personality: Benjamin has a polite demeanor in most cases, but is highly opinionated and often makes the mistake of bringing politics up over the dinner table, hence his lack of a girlfriend, or any real friends whatsoever. He loves computers and is a biology major, and is very pretentious about the subjects.

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Ben was born into a family of wealth in North Carolina. His family made their wealth and legend off of the exploitation of dragonscale, but he himself paid no interest to it, as he was more interested in furthering his education, as well as politics. Ben aced all of his classes through high school and currently is attending Stanford University for his degree in biology. While he is highly involved in his academics and extracurriculars, he lacks a social life.

Other: Easily annoyed by passionate people.

Name: Vita

Gender: Male

Human/Hero: Human

Appearance: Skinny as heck. 6 feet tall brown eye's and tanned like skin. almost always seen with some sort of dark blue clothing that is baggy. Eye brows both point down slightly on his narrow face sometimes causing others to think something is annoying or bothering him.

Personality: Only open to those he trusts. He loves quiet settings and hates loud ones. He'll rarely follow orders till he can think them over him self. With those he distrusts he won't forget. But once you made him a friend he's a loyal one.

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Born and raised in Canada though not much entertaining happened there where he was. He read up on dragons and there race and honestly was embarrassed to be part of the race he was born of. He came to our current setting in a search to find more dragon info and if possible aid them against humanity. Or even become one of these 'hero's' he's heard about. Some could say he's a traitor to humanity, but no one knows of this due to his solitude he normally stays in. Those that do know him know that while he maybe not that strong or athletic he does do well in tactics and strategy. Or at least in games he's displayed that. As of yet he has yet to have a chance to show it in real life.

Other: Open for relationship and if its allowed even get altered into a hero at a later point.

Name: Aidan Dorak

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Human/Hero: Human

Appearance: Tall, slender and slightly pale skin. Short fluffy ebony hair. Emerald eyes, consisting of different shades and highlights of green. 6'7 in height and weighs about, 102 pounds. Has no fat, and muscle build in his upper body, mostly in his wrists and hands.

Personality: Enjoys classical music and quiet areas. Likes the outdoors, but finds comfort in empty rooms that are dead silent. Has a calm demeanor and is kind to strangers. It takes a lot to get him on edge, as it seems that he doesn't find anything that odd. Is rather supportive and finds pleasure in helping others. Is defensive of his friends, but tries not to start arguments and fights. Once his trust is broken, he finds it hard to forgive someone.

Biography(at least a paragraph, please): Aidan never really had a family. His mother died from Leukemia when he was very young. His father left his mother before he was born, so Aidan had no recollection of him. Most of Aidan's life was spent going back and forth between different foster parents. He never really got close to any, and he never really settled down. The only thing that Aidan stuck with, was the cello. The sweet sound of the string instrument lured him into becoming a cello player. After leaving high school with passing grades, Aidan joined a small orchestra. Now, Aidan spends his playing the cello and earning a nice salary. Dragons never really intrigued him, he was more focused on other things.

Other: Aidan enjoys art of any form. He also has a taste for tea.

((starting! I'll announce dusk and dawn whenever such rolls around. Tis morning, and we shall begin))

Lana stared out her window, watching the rain patter down the glass. Rain here in Dragones was precious, as it seldom came during the summer and fall months. The rain was more of a relief to her now as she had been experiencing flashbacks of her childhood again these past few weeks. The weather had begun to change, and media had seemingly been overtaken by earthquake watch. There had been a number of tremors lately, since Dragones did lie on a fault, but earthquakes here were very rare. Regardless, all of this had put Lana out of her element and caused the painful reminders of her past.

Curling up as compactly as she could, Lana rolled over in bed and nestled herself deep between her sheets. Her hair was atrocious and her face an oily mess, covered in makeup from the night before. Her head throbbed like there was no tomorrow, and for the life of her, she could not fall back asleep. She groaned and threw a pillow across the room, startling her puppy, Harry. The golden retriever barked at her and ran up to her bed, his wagging tail thrashing his body back and forth.

"Harry," Lana moaned. "I don't want to get up." She wouldn't have, if she had the choice. But alas, she had work in a few hours and needed to take care of the puppy. With a heavy sigh, Lana forced herself out of bed. Harry trailed at her ankles as she made her way to the kitchen of her sub-par apartment to make breakfast for the both of them.

((I forgot to mention, Roxy has glasses. Is it okay if I add them in here? If not, that's okay.))

Roxy woke up to the soft tapping of rain. She stretched her arms, then reached for her glasses. As she put them on, she noticed Sunny was awake. She got out of bed and walked over to red cage and reached it to pet the cockatiel.

"Hey there Sunny," she said.

Roxy gave her bird some seed, then went into her apartment's kitchen. She grabbed the Mini Wheats off the counter, then got a bowl out and poured herself some cereal. Sitting down to eat, Roxy began to read the book she had left on the table. .

((I added it in her bio for you))

Lana scooped out a cup of dog food and poured it into Harry's tin food bowl. She set in on the floor. The puppy attacked the food with a clatter. Lana rolled her eyes and opened the fridge, scanning the shelves. She grabbed a couple of eggs and a slice of cheese. She cracked the eggs into a bowl, whipped them with a fork, and added the cheese. The mixture sizzled when it hit the skillet. After a few minutes of stirring the eggs as they cooked, then poured them on a plate.

After pouring herself some orange juice, Lana sat at the table and ate her breakfast in a contemplative silence. She did not want to be a manager of retail store today. But then again, she didn't want to be anyone any day of the week. Her eyes moved towards an unfinished painting in the corner of her kitchen. It was a self portrait, but only half of her face was painted. The other watercolor half was missing. I need to finish that...

Vita woke up early to the sound of rain. Something he missed since coming here from where he used to live. Something about the way it sounded, the sound of water and the smell it placed of fresh filtered air. Who cared if he got a little wet in the rain, all it did was drive people indoors and that was something he liked.

He got up and looked out the window and sighed wondering how long it would last. Rains never lasted long enough for him nor did he have any pity for other humans who made there homes around water beds and the rains came. Then again he rarely pitied his own race. He did supposed dead race of the dragons though. He did not know why but he never took to the thing of dragons bad humans good blablabla.

He got his baggy dark blue pants on and his baggy t-shirt along with the baggy sweater and left his room. And went to the kitchen. Today he strangely wanted to head out side. Even though he had a few day's off work he wanted to head out. Maybe to just enjoy the rain and air while it lasted.

He left his home and stepped out side into it hood off and took a deep breath before picking a random direction and walked off. He hoped like always.... that he'd meet one hero, sadly they looked an awful like a human.... and his shyness did not help with locating them.

Benjamin made his way merrily down the street on the way to university, backpack full of notebooks and pencils and highlighters and a heart ready to learn. At least, that was how he perceived himself -- as an altruistic, innocent student. In reality, all he'd done was milk his lineage for money so he could make himself seem like a more well-rounded, intelligent person.

Although he lived in a privileged sector of Dragones, Benjamin had to walk through the suburbs to get to Uni (since that was college town anyway). He noticed a tall figure dressed in baggy clothes and didn't make even a cent of effort to conceal his disgust with his appearance. Benjamin never understood people who made no effort towards their appearance. First impressions are everything, he always told people. But he never acknowledged that money was the only reason that he was where he was, nor the fact that he wasn't quite put-together himself.

Lana found it rather hard to get up out of her chair after she finished eating. Harry licked at her ankles, so she picked him up and scratched his ears. "Do you wanna go for a walk, boy?" she asked in a diminutive tone. The puppy barked, as if affirming her question, so she set him down and pulled her hair back into a bun, then grabbed his leash and clipped it onto his collar.

The pair traveled down the steps to the ground floor, then began their epic journey around the block. Lana was still garbed in her pajama pants and tank-top, but she paid little attention to her own appearance, regardless of what her neighbors thought. She knew they thought she was crazy, and in a way she was, but even if she wasn't, she knew her neighbors were completely shallow idiots.

Her jade eyes danced under long eyelashes as she observed her surroundings. Everyone was still inside, huddled up under blankets, trying to make the most of their last few minutes of sleep. The rain had lightened, but the clouds were still thick. Harry, an opportunistic puppy, took his chance to pee on every fire hydrant and mailbox he could. The golden retriever noticed a pair of suspicious figures ahead, and barked in alarm. Lana's eyes lit up, but only for a moment -- she didn't really care for social interactions.

Vita was walking almost groaning though at the rain lightening up. He continued to walk though as hardly anyone was out and the air was clear of all smoke exhaust and other things. He realized he forgot to comb his hair but shrugged it off. Met he would not get as much attention anyway which due to being a loner, he was fine with.

He could never tolerate crowds. Just far too many people and the amount of space was too small and often times he could not hear him self think. And if he could not think he did not like the setting at all. But he did not mind small groups, up to 5-7 people at max though.

He looked up to see the disgusted look of another young adult approaching. He gave a 'whats your problem?' look to the person and continued on like the person did not exist at all. Till he heard a bark from across the street's intersection. He looked over and saw a young woman looking like she had been dragged out of bed walking her dog. He gave a glance both ways down the street and having not noticed any vehicles he went to cross hoping there would not be another case of he called, phantom cars. Does not matter if your looking either way, some vehicles seem to teleport so they almost or do hit you.

He waved at the girl and her dog seeing as no one else was around. Also knowing that other person would not like the site of another person not prim and proper.

Lana forced a friendly smile. She tried to pull Harry back towards home, but he slipped out of his collar and dashed into the street towards the stranger. "Dammit Harry," Lana muttered, taking off after him. She didn't even bother to look both ways or any of that crap they indoctrinated you with in grade school, mostly because she was too consumed with the fear of the stranger catching her dog and her having to actually say thank you and be nice. She shuddered and let out an exasperated sigh when she saw Harry reach the stranger and start jumping up and down on him. Defeated, she halfheartedly dodged an oncoming car, just barely brushing it. She winced at the small abrasion it left on her forearm, then continued on to get her dog.

Vita smiled a bit and kept the dog from bowling him over letting him sniff his hand before giving the dog some ear rubbing. He looked over to see the owner coming over before motioning for the dog to return to its owner. He noticed the very fresh looking scrap on her arm. "Morning, not up this often normally?" he asked walking towards the sidewalk to not be standing in the middle of the road. "I think I've seen you a few times, not normally around this time though." he admitted "By the way, nice dog." he complimented .

"Thank you," Lana replied with a smirk. "He's rather excited about you for whatever reason." She recollared her dog and sighed uncomfortably. The man was rather bland, and not well dressed. There was nothing she could think of to make conversation about. Lana had always known she was different, physically and mentally. The ridges on her back were suggestions of differing ancestors, and her agility and way of thinking greatly varied from that of most people she had encountered.

Vita smiled a bit "Not much I can say there, always had a way with animals from what others tell me." he said before holding out his hand "I'm Vita, I live just down the street." he said introducing him self. He noticed her form and the oily look to her face but made no mention of it. While her form looked beautiful her face while shaped nicely looked like it could use a cleaning. "What happened to your arm?" he asked wondering.

((Why's baggy almost always not 'well dressed'? I find it quite comfy my self))

((Haha just her perception. She'll get past it.))

"Lana," she replied hesitantly, gently enveloping his hand with her slender fingers and giving it a shake. "And I think I just scratched it on something, or whatever." She glanced at the abrasion, but it was healing rather quickly and hadn't bled. Harry licked her ankles, wagged his tail, then sat on her feet. "Um," Lana mumbled, "what are you up to at this time of day?"

Vita shook her hand and nodded though wondered why she was being so.... with drawn. Maybe her coming out in her pajamas did not say much on a few things. "I was just enjoying the rain. Unlike many humans I find it.... relaxing and soothing." he admitted almost detaching him self from 'humans' in the way he said it. Though he looked like it was normal to say it like that "And not many are out at this time of day either so is quieter." he admitted eye's on her hurt arm "I swear.... I must be tired still.... was that not.... worse a few seconds ago?" he asked eye's narrowed a little at her arm. It hard to miss he was watching it now as it visibly slowly seemed to heal. Only certain people have anything like that, but then again, he had never seen such before and could be just getting hopeful and tired.

Lana shrugged. "Yeah, I guess so," she mumbled. "I mean, it wasn't really that bad to begin with, it's probably just scabbed over or something. I don't know." She scanned Vita. He was completely normal, from head-to-toe, with the little variations such as hair and eye color, complexion and clothing, but those were typical. Envy began to weigh lightly at the edges of her conscious. She always wished she didn't differ physically or mentally from everyone else. Despite the quick healing, she never felt severe pain, giving rise to her internal, existential battle.

Harry barked. Lana shook her head and every trace of jealousy that had crept up on her.

George stumbled blearily down the steps connecting the porch of his apartment to the back alley behind his store. Groaning and rubbing his eyes, he shambled around the building to the front where he pulled out a ring of keys to unlock the door. The previous night he had stayed up rather late with a bottle of scotch and one of his newest books. As he entered the building, he flipped the sign by the door to the open side.

Dressed in suit pants and a tee-shirt, George hadn't noticed the rain. He noticed now, and was fairly wet at this point. A stream of curses left his mouth as he attempted damage control by quickly dashing behind the counter where it was tiled. He thanked what ever larger power was out there that he had left a towel there from the last time it rained. He quickly dried himself off and sat down, the towel hanging from his neck, and fell back to sleep.

((A saying comes to mind between Vita and Lana atm lol. "The grass is always greener on the other side"))

Vita watched her seeing her expression slowly change, he watched her look him over and after a few moments the dog barked and she seemed to snap to "Are you one of them....hero's? Always wanted to meet them. Part dragon an all, wish I was one to be honest." he said deciding it was time to see if this person was just like most of the humans or different "Speaking of which, whats your standing on the whole dragon thing?" he asked eye's locked on her now.

"A hero?" Lana wrinkled her nose. "I don't know. I don't know my real parents. I don't particularly care about my identity." She squeezed the bridge of her nose -- a migraine was creeping up. "I don't know too much about the dragons. At all." Lana wished over and over that she hadn't gotten into this conversation. Stupid dog, she thought bitterly. It wasn't that she disliked this man. She just wanted to go home.

Vita looked at her "Are you alright?" he asked seeing her grab the bridge of her nose. That scrap was healing too fast for a human at least... normal human. "If you are one of the 'hero's' you most likely don't know your own parents.... the ones I've been able to find on the net all seem to lack biological parents or at least one of them. And those are the ones in the news. All displaying some heightened function of athletics some intelligence.... either it was never noticed or just not mention but I haven't seen heightened healing ability's." he explained "Something tells me though it does not help for late night ventures." he said

Lana scoffed. "What are you trying to insinuate?" Harry tucked his tail between his legs and hid behind her. "Just for your information, the fact that I don't have real parents doesn't mean that I'm any different from you," she snapped, pointing a slender finger in his face. "And don't think that you are any better than me, just because I come from a broken home and happen to live on my own and just so happen to like to go on walks in my pajamas in the rain with my dog by myself." She folded her arms over her chest and locked him in a scrutinizing glare.

Vita looked taken back by her response then started to get a 'what are you talking about?' look when she started to accuse him of.... saying he was better? Where did I say that stuff? Broken home, better then, and living on her own? he thought as she told him off. Once she was done he was giving her the O.o look "Pardon me but.... I never said one was better then the other for family's and I was.... just pointing out some similarity's between you and these hero characters..... I had not met to offend if that's what happened." he said "You have to admit, its not every day you see someone take a scrape and be able to watch it heal in less then a day never mind a few hours." he pointed out though was trying to not sound like he was making fun of her.... as she seemed to respond like so last time.
