The Dark Lords

History

On earth long ago each element had a kingdom, the most important being water, shadow, storm, and life, that protected its self by the use of magic passed down from generation to generation, first born to first born. When a magic wielder was born they were the same as any other child but as they got older their powers would slowly begin to emerge until they turned 16 and gained full use of their element in a violent phase in which the prince/princess would go into a trance of semi-consciousness and destroy almost anything around them. In this world the 15 kingdoms often quarreled but very rarely would dangerous fights break out, because when they did the earth would be torn apart by the elements as the kings and queens fought. And so the world lived somewhat peacefully waiting for someone or something to force the kingdoms together.

 

In the year 1467 in a world of magic a prince is born. This prince's name is Zavoc and he is second born in the kingdom of shadow. Growing up, Zavoc is always overlooked, he would not develop magic when he turned 16, he would not ,one day, become king, he would hang around the castle in the shadow of his older brother Montary, for whom all of Zavoc's dreams would come true for. As he grew older, Zavoc also grew more and more bitter, constantly training and studying to even be a fourth of his brother's worth. When Montary was sent to a cabin in the mountains to receive his magic Zavoc ran away not to be heard from for many years.

 

Now

Zavoc is back and he has done what no human has ever done before, created a new element. He and four others have created the element of fear and all five gained the ability to conduct it, another act that until now has been impossible. Now the five Dark Lords, with Zavoc leading them, are out for revenge on the kingdoms that told them they would always be second rate. In a fit of rage Zavoc orders the execution of the royal family of every kingdom he himself killing his own brother. However as Montary died his son Asthen lives on unknown to Zavoc until it is too late for he has escaped and is running for his life in an unfriendly world.

 

As the first born of your kingdom and still without your magical abilities, will you escape? Will you survive? Will you ally yourself with others or will you fight alone? Will you still gain your full powers now that your family is dead? As you face danger at every step these are the questions you will had to answer and confront, finding your true destiny.

 

Finer Points

 

Geography

Each of the kingdoms has a castle and each of them is built in the area that best supports the king or queen (Air kingdom, floating island - Earth kingdom, underground). This is a list of where each of the kingdoms have built their castles to best protect themselves and a map of where they are in relation to each other.

 

-Water - the water kingdom is placed by the sea, giving access to all the water the ruling mage could need.

 

-Earth - the earth kingdom is underground, where the mage could seal off the kingdom in an instant.

 

-Air - the air kingdom is on a floating island that hangs over the ocean, making it very hard to get to.

 

-Fire - the fire kingdom is on the slope of a volcano, providing lava and magma whenever needed.

 

-Shadow - the shadow kingdom is placed deep in the Rata forest, where the sun rarely shines.

 

-Life - the life kingdom is on open plains that provide plenty of hustle and bustle and life energy.

 

-Storm - the storm kingdom is placed on a mountain near the sea, providing water and air to create storms.

 

-Animal - the animal kingdom is on the fringes of the Rata forest, where fauna thrive waiting and willing to obey.

 

-Ice - the ice kingdom is the farthest north of all the kingdoms, located on a mountain the kingdom is always a chilly temperature.

 

-Plant - the plant kingdom is in the middle of the Estera woods, where flora is abundant and ready.

 

-Sound - the sound kingdom is located near the life kingdom on the plains, where sound waves travel far and fast.

 

-Metal - the metal kingdom is located in a valley, near a large deposit of iron that is ready and waiting.

 

-Mind - the mind kingdom are nomads that travel the Iqor mountains, using their mind power to locate where anyone near by is or is going.

 

-Art - the art kingdom is located on a beautiful mountain top that inspires the citizens living there.

 

-Energy - the energy kingdom is located on the highest mountain among the Iqor, where lightning strikes often.

Technology

Because of the old age technology is very limited. Each kingdom may or may not have a more highly advanced piece of technology that relates to their element (water may have more advanced boat craft), but all together the technology is stuck at a medieval level.

 

Golems

A golem is shaped like a human, but is instead carved out of rock, and stand around 8-10 feet tall. They have no facial features, exept for a gemstone of varying types that contains it's 'soul.' Not much is known of these gems besides the fact that they are highly durable. If the golem's body is destroyed, but the gem remains intact, they can just place said gem onto a new body and the golem will live on. The art of creating them is lost to the ages, so what is left of them is guarded jealously. Narath plans to reveal more about these gems fairly soon. Golems work as guards to protect the Earth Kingdom.

 

Things to note

If an element has not been claimed then we are going to assume that the Dark lords have not yet taken it over and therefore it may or may not be willing to help our young mages.

List of elements: red means the element is already taken

-Shadow, a shadow mage is able to manipulate shadows to do their bidding, conceal themselves anywhere, and can effectively use any weapon they are given, even if they have never practiced with it before.

-Water, a water mage can control water (create floods, part rivers, create water barriers, change a river's course), has minor healing abilities (small cuts and sicknesses), and once every 3 months is able to turn something into silver.

-Life, a life mage can knock a human out for up to 72 hours (three days), heal anything up to severed limbs and death, and make inanimate objects come to life (uses lots of energy).

-Storm, a storm mage can create storms up to a hurricane, conduct small amounts of lightning, and control small amounts of wind

-Fire, a fire mage can control fire ( stop a fire, direct a fire), create fire that they can manipulate ( shoot fire from palms, create armor out of fire), and control lava and magma.

-Air, an air mage can control the winds (pushing back an enemy, slowing down an enemy), control the weather to some extent (clear away small storms), and fly by riding the winds (uses lots of energy).

-Animal, an animal mage can summon animals to do their bidding, effectively communicate with animals, and shape shift into different animals (this takes a large amount of energy)

-Ice, an ice mage can freeze almost anything (including humans for a short period of time), create weapons out of water by freezing the water into the shape they would like, and bring the temperature of an area down up to 20 degrees.

-Plant, a plant mage can manipulate plants around them (make plants grow in to any shape they want), make new plants grow just by thinking it, and encase animals and humans in a bark layer for up to 24 hours.

-Earth, an earth mage can manipulate rocks (make them fly at attackers or suspending them in the air), create shields and caves to protect themselves and hide, and (with their bare hands) chop through almost anything.

-Sound, a sound mage can create sonic waves that can push an attacker back, create a high keening sound that makes opponents lose concentration, and create sounds that can scare or intimidate (bear's roar, screaming)

-Metal, a metal mage can tell where another living thing is by using the metal deep in the earth as reference points, create weapons seemingly out of thin air, and create armor to surround almost anything.

-Mind, a mind mage can read a human's thoughts, create fake reality (pain, sounds, images), move things using their minds, and control other people as long as they trust them completely.

-Art, an art mage can draw anything and it will come to life, sing a song and (with the right will power) increase the chances of the song's events coming true, and rewrite someone's memory by acting out an event and having them watch.

-Energy/Lightning, an energy mage can conduct and create lightning, make a human have more energy, and move very fast (almost a blur but takes lots of energy away)

Appearance: Asthen is very pale with dark black hair that falls scruffily to about his ears and bright silver eyes. Standing at 5'11" Asthen is tall for his age and wears a black shirt, dark pants, and, in light, a cloak made of his shadow.

Personality: At first glance Asthen is very dark and withdrawn, with much confidence, he may seem to hold himself above others. But this is not the truth, Asthen can be very kind and caring although he doesn't have much experience in comforting others. Asthen will sometimes have mood swings that can catch others of guard.

Strengths:

-Asthen is an expert swordsman and also very good with a sythe, long bow, and dagger and adequate with a swordstaff, Warhammer, and a war axe.

-Asthen can manipulate his shadow into almost anything he wants.

-Asthen can make himself almost disappear into shadows, becoming impossible to see unless you know he is there.

Weaknesses:

-During the day Asthen's power is greatly reduced because of the amount of light. The more shade and darkness there is the more powerful he is the more light there is the weaker is is (tires out faster).

Crush: When going around to all of the kingdoms Haeria met Narath and has had a crush ever since.

Appearance: Haeria has dark brown hair that falls to her mid back with ice blue eyes and a slight tan from the sun she gets in winter when her kingdom travels to the plains. Haeria usually wears a white dress that goes down to her knees with white shorts on underneath for easy movement, she will change into a shirt and pants and occasionally light armor for combat.

Personality: Haeria is very kind and understanding and being able to easily read others emotions and thoughts she is good at providing support and encouragement to others. From the outside Haeria often seems a bit weak and feeble but if on her bad side she can deliver a nasty bite to anyone who underestimates her.

-Haeria can easily quess other's thoughts and strong emotions

-She can create objects and sounds in someone else's environment but can't do this for long and it can sometimes falter revealing the illusion

*overview: Sebastian is quiet and analytical. He stays in the background and watches things unfold before he takes action. If there is a gap in logic, he does not make assumptions to fill it; he gathers the information himself. He is critical of himself and those around him and coldly polite in conversation. He has no respect for authority and will make decisions himself when a group is straying from the 'logical' path.

 

He finds it difficult to understand emotions and considers them unnecessary. This makes him appear unsympathetic and cruel, but it is simply beyond his capabilities. This is not to say that he cannot have attachments or deep feelings for others, but he is extremely naive and unsure in the way he expresses himself in those times. He will try to make relationships he's invested in work, but is shy about it and does not make it a public affair.

 

Sebastian is constantly trying to improve his world whether it be musically or politically. The only thing keeping him from writing and revising scorers of music is his schoolwork and obligation several hours a day to 'socialize' with his parents and the court. (He only appears because he is forced to and takes no pleasure from it). He does not dance, perform, or speak to others for pleasure unless directly asked to by his parents or instructor and him doing so willingly would be a momentous occasion.

Appearance: Anaya is 5 foot 6 with long chestnut hair and electric green eyes. She keeps her hair in a fishtail braid and often weaves feathers and leaves into it. Her skin is fair, and her sharp features make her look elfish. She is well built as an archer and from running, but has no skill with any other weapon, so she lacks strength in the wrists to weild swords and knives. She is on the thin side, allowing nimbleness, but making her a bit fragile.

Personality: Anaya is a quiet girl. She prefers the company of animals and only keeps a few close friends. She is a kind soul and motherly to those younger than her. Though not talkitive, she is fiercely intelligent and witty and won't hesitate to correct someone. She is far from reckless, carefully assessing situations before acting. Far from a leader, she allows others to make major decisions.

Strengths:

Shapeshifting- Anaya can turn into any animal that she pleases, but cannot stay in that state for more than a few hours due to energy costs

Speech- Anaya can speak to and understand any and all animals

Peacefulness- No animal will harm Anaya under any circumstances

Weaknesses: Anaya is completely useless at melee range combat in her human form. If she is human without a bow, she is 100% vulnerable to anything and everything

Personality: Arla doesn't make friends very easily. She has a short temper which makes her have a mean personality. She likes to do things by herself and she can be quite stubborn.

- Can survive in temperatures of -30 degrees

- Can make ice weapons out of thin air

- Can walk on thin ice without fear of it breaking

Weaknesses (at least 1):

-Lousy climber

-Weapons she makes out of ice can be flimsy and clumsy in warmer temapures

-She doesn't get sarcasm

Appearance: The first thing you might notice about Legato is the elegant brown cloth around his eyes. Legato was born blind, his light grey eyes would be considered unsettling to those outside the sound kingdom. He keeps his black hair short so he doesn't have to spend much time taking care of it. Whenever he roams outside the castle, he always has a hooded cloak over him. Underneath that is a set of light clothing made of soft cloth, which allows him full moveability.

Personality: Calm, peaceful, unnerving. These are the terms that most describe Legato. He never raises his voice, never allows himself to get angry... and keeps talking in the same calm tone even when his life is in danger. He can be very stubborn, and has a tendency to ignore his 'guides' and do his own thing. When it comes to people, he is slightly Introverted, but can easy get over it after talking with someone for more then ten minutes. Since he does not make his first impression on sight, how you speak to Legato makes all the difference.

Strengths: Legato tends to make a soft, clicking noise with his tongue every five or so seconds, with it being more frequent in urgent situations. This use of echolocation allows him to move and fight with surprising accuracy and speed, and is almost likely to throw most people off balance for a few seconds. Speaking of fighting, Legato is proficient in unarmed combat, and can be very acrobatic in his movement and attacks.

Weaknesses (at least 1): Even though he has ways to strengthen himself from his blindness, he still feels uneasy in vast open spaces. Without anything to use as a reference point, he is vastly more vulnerable.

Other: Has a case with tiny balls in them, containing sounds. Each sound is a representation of an element, meant to be given to the heirs of the kingdoms.

Name: Narath Misertus

Age: 15 almost 16

Element: Earth

Crush: None at the moment, but tends to be somewhat ignorant to the flirtations of women.

Appearance: Narath is 6 foot 3 and140 lbs, tall but skinny. He has short light blonde hair that is often in a mess (not sticking up all over the place messy though, just ruffled), and has blue eyes. He often wears tan leggings and a slightly darker tan loose shirt, over which he wears a dark brown leather vest that has no sleeves, but sticks out a bit over the shoulders. Over that he wears a brown cloak with a hood, which he will usually have pulled up when he is outdoors so he is slightly pale.

Personality: Narath is a fairly gentle soul. He will often try to work things out, sometimes even when there is no chance of doing so, before resorting to violence. He likes to tend to a small garden that he gives much care for as he enjoys natural beauty. Knowing much about plants, he is very good at it too. It also helps that he knows some earth magic so that he can make sure that the soil they live in is rich with neutrients. Being a prince, he has grown up around many luxurious items, and has worked to collect many pieces of artwork, using that as an excuse to convinced his father to let him go traveling to the outside world to acquire such pieces. Because of traveling, he has been able to socialize and learn somewhat how to interact with people socially, but because of how they tend to act around him once they learn he is royalty, he is somewhat shy of strangers as well. This causes him to be somewhat secluded, often sitting alone reading a good novel. It helped him to relax and escape the everyday world, because in his imagination and the stories, he feels like he is in a different world altogether. Though shy and timid, and often trying to resolve things peacefully, he will put himself in harms way to protect others, even if they are strangers. To help him in protecting others, he became skilled with the quarterstaff, bow, daggers, and throwing knifes.

Strengths:

-Creating defenses with stone

-Very accurate with ranged weapons

-Can often easily subdue an enemy without lethal force

-Sloppy and sluggish when wet

Character Name: Astrum Occisor

Gender: Male

Age 15

Element: Lightning/Energy

Crush: None, at least not anymore. His girlfriend Juno, was killed in the conflict that tore his kingdom apart. She bled to death as he held her in his arms, and he now carries the necklace that she always wore, to help remind himself of her.

Appearance: Black rugged hair, deep blue eyes, tall (6 foot), skinny but muscular. Wears this, with leggings that are the same green color as the tunic, and leather greaves that have the same color and style as the bracers.

Personality: He is much like the element he controls. He can be fairly unpredictable, and sometimes even violent. He has his wild side, but can be tamed and controlled with some things, though one usually has a very difficult time doing so. This is partially because he is often quick to anger, making it difficult to make friends. He is a very proud individual, and gives everything his all, one hundred percent of the time, making him a very skilled blades man, almost matching the skill of the greatest teachers the land has to offer.

Strengths (up to 3):

-Can create an aura of electricity around him, or anything he touches.

-Is able to shoot extremely strong bolts of lightning from his fingertips

-Can create a shock wave of energy around him, throwing back opponents and debris around him.

Weaknesses (at least 1):

-His pride is often his downfall

-Is a bit of a 'lone wolf.' When traveling with others, he tends to keep to himself.

-His electrical based powers are less efficient against none-conducting materials.

Other: Dual wields two decorated katanas that look like this. Also wields a Yari along his back. The blade of it is about 24 inches long, and the staff part of the Yari is two meters long, and is able to collapse into a small hand-and-a-half handle. This is normally how he straps it to his back, making it appear as an extra sword worn in a scabbard over his shoulder as a baldric. Using his power, he can make it extend almost instantaneously to it's full length.

Appearance: Caelum is very thin and has red-brown hair and fair skin

Personality: Caelum is always full of energy and is playful. She has never met someone she didn’t try to befriend.

Strengths (up to 3):

-Caelum is very fast and hard to tire out.

-Caelum is very agile.

-Caelum can fall/jump from high places without getting hurt

Weaknesses (at least 1):

-When ever it is very still(no wind) and/or hot , Balahara slows down and is easier to defeat.

Appearance:Vita has black hair pale skin and blue eyes . Her parents were very over protective so she hardly ever went outside.

Personality: Vita is very shy and has no social skills because she has never been outside the castle walls and she has only met her family and her maids.

Strengths (up to 3):

-Vita can knock out others for 5 minutes

-Vita can heal small cuts and most sicknesses

-Vita is very cunning and can out smart her enemies

-Vita is small and not very strong

Character Name: Ozberius Velariore (People just call him Oz)

Gender: Male

Age: 15

Element: Fire

Crush: None

Appearance: Yo! - He has heterochromia, meaning his eyes differ in color. beneath his eye patch is dark purple in color with flecks of silver.

Personality: His personality can be percieved as being out of the norm for the fire mages. Despite the preconception that fire mages are Hot headed, it takes a lot to get Oz angry. However like most teenagers his age, he is nowhere near disciplined and will often do what he wants, when he wants.

He is reckless and confident in his abilities just like most fire mages, however his recklessness stems from being fool hardy rather then acting out of anger like the other fire mages. Where others like him would charge in out of anger, Oz would charge in for the sake of enjoying himself.

Strengths (up to 3):

- Unlike most fire mages, whose flames are fueled by their anger, Oz draws his fire from another source. (Think Aang and Zuko from Avatar after learning fire bending from the Dragons). This means he has more control over the flames as well as being able to produce a stronger fire then most mages. There is also less risk of his flames going out of control.

- Resistant to fire allowing him to coat himself in flames for offensive and defensive purposes

- He has better control over fire then he has over Lava/Magma

Weaknesses (at least 1):

- Weak to water and cannot swim

- His control over Lava/Magma is not as good as his control over fire.

Character Name: Aaron Thalia

Gender: Male

Age 14

Element: Plant

Crush: None at the moment.

Appearance:

-Height: 5'6"

-Weight: 180lbs

-Hair: Black, short, and curly

-Skin: Dark brown

-Build: Thin with a little muscle.

Personality: Confident and ambitious, he enjoys trying to better himself and others. That said he can sometimes be condesending when he proves himself better or more knowledgable than someone else at something. Conversly he's quite humble when in the presence of someone more skilled or knowledgable than him.

Strengths (up to 3):

-Skilled Climber

-He is a strong ambush fighter and likes using hit and run tactics.

-Can manipulate the plants controling them however he likes, although is restrained by their normal flexibility and strength.

Weaknesses (at least 1):

-Is not skilled at prolonged battle or head on combat.

-Needs to stay constantly hydrated

-He doesn't do well with extreme heat or cold.

Your tenses are very inconsistent throughout the roleplay. One good example is this:

 

While he is growing up he was always over looked

 

"while he is growing up" is present tense, but "was always over looked" is past tense. You need to stick to one. This issue is pervasive throughout your roleplay, so I'll not make further critique until this has been dealt with.

Asthen ran full pelt into the forest surrounding the Shadow kingdom. How did he do that? Asthen thought to himself as he reimagined the scene he was fleeing from. He remembered a servant coming to him and telling him to hide under the floorboards of his fathers office. Peering through the floor he saw a strange man come in and his father almost immediately started screaming and sobbing that he and his mother were dead, falling to floor with tears streaming down his face he dropped his sword and with one swing from the strange man he was dead.

 

Asthen stopped, sides heaving, about 3 miles from the kingdom, or what was left of it, a fire the man had created had eaten up the castle as Asthen had fled. Asthen felt tears streaming down his face as he fell to the forest floor in a heap, Everything is gone. He thought, What am I even doing? he sobbed to himself. Look at yourself. Asthen thought after about 30 minutes of this, You need to keep moving. he thought to himself as he started running again, but the tears did not stop as he ran for his life from the most dangerous man alive.

Narath

 

Narath awoke to the sounds of battle echoing throughout the mountain. Leaping out of his bed, he quickly donning his clothes and cloak. He rushed out of his chamber door, grabbing his quarterstaff on the way out. His first thought was to find his family. His first stop was at his little sister's room. Throwing open the door, he saw the little eight year old huddling in the corner.

"Stay close to me Evain." He said in a gentle, but urgent tone as he clutched her to his side.

She complied, hugging her brothers waist as they made their way to their parent's quarters. When they arrived, Narath found the door locked. As he was about to shout for his mother and father, he heard voices from the other side of the door, one he recognized as his father's, the other was the menacing laughter of a man who he did not know. He could hear his father weeping.

"You killed her! Why did you kill my wife?"

Narath's heart dropped.

"Mother? Dead? how could this be?" He thought.

"Father! Father, can you hear me?!" He shouted, knocking furiously at the door. He couldn't help it, his heart wouldn't be able to bear the pain of loosing him. On the other side of the door he heard talking again, but this time it was the cold, empty voice of the person who's laughter he heard earlier.

"Is that your son? Shall we invite him in? I think we should, we wouldn't want him to miss this now would we?"

Narath heard footsteps heading towards the door and began to back off from it, pushing his sister behind him to protect her.

"You will not, touch, my SON!" He heard his father yell in the most fearsome voice he had ever heard from a man.

The sound of his father's shouting was soon drowned out by the shattering of stone from inside the royal chambers. The door broke open, unable to hold back the swell of stone. Narath stood agape. His father had sacrificed himself to save him. No, he couldn't believe he was dead. Narath Began to dig through the rubble, using both his arms and what magic he knew. He didn't get very far though before something big and strong pulled him back. He turned to look up into the ruby eye of a stone golem, a large creature of magic, that was created to be a guardian of the Stone Kingdom. They only had one eye in the center of their featureless face that was made of a finely cut precious stone, which was enchanted to give the golem life. The golem would always remain alive as long as this gem was intact. This way, it was easy to replace them when they were damaged, and this one was living proof of that. About half of it's head was gone, he had a chunk taken out of it's side, it was missing it's last two fingers on it's left hand, and it's right arm was shattered just above where it's elbow should be. His mind soon turned back to the fact that his father was still buried underneath a pile of rubble, and his sister was crying hysterically.

"Let me go, I have to save my father!" He said.

The golem just shook it's head. Narath knew what it meant; his father was dead and there was nothing he could do. Narath calmly bent down, and tried to sooth his sister. After she was a little calmed down, he turned back to the golem.

"I need to get to the armory," he said "We need some supplies."

The golem shook it's head again and gave him a small bag that it had with it, as if to say 'I brought what you need. We leave now.' Narath nodded his head. just then, a hand broke through the rubble. Natath turned to see if it was his fathers, but when he looked, it was obviously not so.

"Follow me." he told it, rushing off with his sister in tow.

The golem followed obediently, not even hesitating as it was it's duty to protect the royal family. They ran through a series of corridors, stopping at a wall at which Narath applied pressure to a small stone, opening a secret passage to the outside world. Once they were out, he had to shield his eyes from the intensity of the sun. Once his eyes adjusted, he looked around, wondering what direction to go in.

Asthen stopped again for the third time that day, having covered about 8 miles he realized he need to figure out where he was going. I will have to stay somewhere dark and shady he thought to himself, "But not in the Rata, I don't want to run into that man." He murmered, the next best place is are the Estra woods, and those are over the Arsh mountains. he thought remembering his lessons on the surrounding area, I wonder if the man will go after the Other kingdoms? beginning his run once again, Asthen jogged this time angled for the dark peaks on the horizon.

 

After a few hours Asthen looked up as the mountains loomed up in front of him. "Thats a long climb." he said to himself looking dispiritedly at the mountain tops that were covered in bright, white light. "It will take me forever just to get across one." he said again thinking of his inability to successfully do much of anything in bright light. It will be easier just to go around Asthen came to a decision, and I should get a horse to ride. He thought turning now to a nearby village.

Narath

 

Narath ushered his sister to move along as quickly as she could move. They had to get as far away from their home as soon as possible. It was no longer a safe place for them. As they began traveling, Narath pulled the hood of his cloak over his head, and thought as to where they should be heading. The closest kingdom was the Art kingdom, and he did often visit there for their art. He attempted to recall the way there, but it had been a while since his last visit, and he had never traveled out from his home from any of the secret passages before. But nonetheless, he tried his best.

 

After hours of roaming, they had seen neither head nor tail of the Art kingdom. It was getting dark as well, but there seemed to be no safe place for them to rest in these mountains. Narath collapsed against a nearby tree, exhausted from the days travels and about to give up, when his golem gently shook his shoulder. As he looked up, the golem pointed towards the horizon where small streams of smoke could be seen. It looked like smoke that streamed up from the fireplaces of homes too. And it didn't even seem that far off. Narath nudged his little sister, who had curled up beside him against the tree as he gazed.

"Come on Evain, just a little longer, and we'll have somewhere to sleep." He said.

After a little more coaxing, Narath managed to get her up and walking again, and the odd trio started out once more.

As Asthen slowly walked into the small town, to small to be a kingdom, he spotted a boy about 3 years younger than himself and walked over, "Where can I get a horse?" he asked the youth. The boy silently pointed to a barn at the far side of the town and, thanking him, Asthen jogged over to large structure the boy had pointed out. As he got close Asthen suddenly ducked into a side ally and, reaching into his shadow, pulled up a cloak in a split second action. Asthen then slipped closer to the barn, all the time hiding in the shadows, slipped in and quickly took a survey of the animals presented. Going over to the fasted looking horse there was, Asthen quickly slipped on a saddle and tack and climbed on swiftly. Knowing he would be unable to hide both himself and the horse, Asthen rode fast and furious out of the barn and town before anyone knew what he was doing.

 

After getting a few mile out of town Asthen slowed his new horse to a walk. Looking at the sun Asthen quickly realized that he had underestimated the amount of time it would take to reach the mountains. Sighing unhappily at the closeness to the looming peaks of the Arsh mountains, Asthen dismounted and tied his steed to a tree before brushing it down and feeding the horse a small amount of grass. Quietly slipping through the woods, Asthen approached the mountains cautiously knowing he was out of depth on the tall craggy peaks. As he reached the end of the forest Asthen noticed a trio of figures approaching from the direction of the mountains. As they came closer Asthen noticed that one of them was a golem. And they only protect the royal Earth Kingdom family, Slowly rising to his feet in front of the group Asthen asked quietly, "Who are you?"

Narath

 

As the mismatched group neared the edge of the forest on their way to the town, Narath spotted a shadowy figure emerge from the forest. As they neared, the figure, which Narath could now tell was a young boy, asked them who he was. Narath wasn't sure whether he could trust him or not. After all, why would a shadowy young boy be lurking in the shadows of a forest? A bandit perhaps? Maybe part of a larger group of thieves? Gently pushing his little sister behind him, he motioned for the large golem to come to his side. The golem, already sensing the same things, had already begun moving, it's single red 'eye' trained on the stranger. Narath then griped his staff with both hands, in a basic ready stance.

"I could ask you the same thing." He said in a stern and unwavering tone.

"All right guessing it is." Asthen said looking closer at the group, "I'd say your Narath Misertus, both your mother and father are dead, killed by a strange man before you knew what was happening, and your fleeing the kingdom with your sister and the only surviving golem." Stepping closer Asthen pushed back is cloak and asked, "Now can you guess who I am?" He stepped closer, close enough that he could touch Narath, in the lead of the party.

((OOC: It is not the last surviving golem, but just was the only one that was able to find him. The others were just busy defending the rest of the city. Their bodies may be destroyed by now, yes, but their 'eyes' would still be intact as it requires an incredible amount of punishment to destroy the gems. Also, planning a bit of backstory for the golems.))

 

Narath

 

"How do you know that?" Narath asked nervously, tightening his grip on his staff.

As the boy moved closer, the golem stepped in front of Narath protectively, and pushed the stranger back gently, but firmly.

"And who are you?!" He asked again, a little more angrily.

His sister began to quiver behind him in fear, clutching at the folds of his cloak.

"Come on you still don't reconize me?" Asthen asked, letting himself be push out of the way. "You're no fun at guessing games." Asthen scowled and then winked, "Fine perhaps a demonstration." Stepping back Asthen's cloak seemed to melt off as he reached into the shadow and pulled out a fully formed broadsword. Swinging it in an experimental arc he grinned at Narath, "Any new guesses?" this was fun.

Narath

 

Narath's eyes widened as he recognized the boy's powers from the books he often read. Only those from the Shadow kingdom had powers such as those he weilded. And if he was able to wield those powers, he'd have to be the firstborn of the Shadow king. Sadly though, he did not pay too much attention to the names of the other royalties in his lessons. He was too enveloped in his novels of ancient history and fantasy.

The golem though, didn't care. This child was brandishing a weapon in the presence of it's leader. It advanced a few steps, tightening it's one remaining fist as it did so. Narath soon took notice of this.

"I'm going to have to ask you to put that away." He said. "The golem doesn't seem to be taking a liking to you brandishing a weapon around me. Frankly, I normal wouldn't mind, but you are also brandishing it around my sister. I won't let any harm befall her.

And as to who you are, I cannot recall your name, but I now realize that you are prince of the Shadow kingdom."
