{This roleplay's scenery is kind of based off the planet Pandora in the movie AVATAR. Not the air-bender avatar the one with the main character, Jake Sully in it. However, there are no humans who have their 'avatar bodies' that they can go to sleep and wake up as them. I will accept the animals, plants and Na'vi people that live in the movie AVATAR to be on here but no one can rp them as one of their main characters.}

 

Introduction

 

There was once a planet with a name that is long forgotten, orbiting its sun billions of years ago. This mysterious planet was destroyed along with many magnificent species that thrived on it by a collision with an asteroid. The planet seemed to cave-in on itself from the powerful impact and dispersed into millions of particles throughout space. However, there was enough debris that a new planet began to form millions of years later. This planet was named Elpis, a Greek word meaning 'hope'. It was given this name by the mortals on Earth who managed to use their newly advanced technology to discover the newly-made planet since it is now 4723 A.C. Throughout the years, Elpis developed gravity, an atmosphere and other vital substances such as water for the survival of this new world. Elpis is a world that has many floating islands, in fact all of its land is floating due to numerous generations of adaption. These floating islands are usually connected with 'bridges' that are made out of thick vine/roots. Even though Elpis is considered a planet to some, it does orbit another planet with many moons and is larger than Elpis. Many creatures sometimes ponder on what's below their wonderful floating lands. Some tried to find out but they've usually never returned. Those who do seem to have left part of themselves behind, and act strangely. No one knows why this happens for everyone is too frightened out of their wits to find out. Some say it's a horrifying place that has only water with the nastiest and most dangerous creatures there are. Others say its always stormy, cloudy, dull while even others think an enormous volcano erupted, sending thousands and thousands of pounds of ash into the air, blocking out the sun so nothing may survive and that the creatures that live there have been warped into terrifying cannibals.

 

The nights are beautiful due to the way the sun strikes Elpis's planet that it orbits around, cascading off beautiful colors, which causes the aurora lights at night.

 

~Plot~

You are a hatchling making your way into this new world and are the first of your kind here. For some unknown reason dragon eggs popped up out of nowhere, as if the dragons from the old planet somehow were connected to this discovery. However, when you hatched you don't have any recollection of what had happened, only that you've been in an egg for centuries upon centuries and even more. You must survive this strange new world and find ways to dodge the threats and thrive on Elpis, the planet of hope. Because of the floating land, you are closer to the sun and are more prone to dehydration and heat strokes when out for too long in the summer. However, because of how high you are, in the fall, winter and spring can be freezing even in the daytime. Can you survive?

 

Seasons/Weather:

Since you are closer to the sun you are more prone to dehydration and heat strokes when out for too long in late spring, summer and early fall. In the winter, the days are short and snows heavily, and if out for too long at night without any warmth you can get frostbite or freeze to death. In spring the snow melts and causes extreme floods on the floating islands which adds to the beautiful waterfalls that cascade down the floating islands. Summers as well as in early fall and late spring can get hot but due to the altitude the islands are at, its usually cold and can reach zero degrees. The temperature drops slowly as it enters late fall then plummets as it reaches winter and can reach negative 30 degrees on the worst of the wintry nights.

 

There is a new precipitation that falls on Elpis, this strange thing is called Thread. Thread is known to fall from a large mass of light gray clouds, and devours all organic matter it touches. However, Elpis has survived Threadfalls or 'Falls' with a specialized grub that feeds on the threads when they touch the ground. This trait is found in all fish as well when it enters the water and these special grubs and usually all fish are commonly found during and after a Fall. Thread will disintegrate or turn into dust when the temperature is too cold such as 40 degrees or below, so thread commonly falls in late spring, summer and early fall. Thread comes from one of the other 'moons' that orbit around the same planet Elpis orbits. Thread remains dormant in inner-system space as a small, icy ovoid, but is reactivated by passage through the atmosphere. Heat and atmospheric friction burn off the outer shell, releasing "thread-like" strings which float down to the surface in sheets, tangles and clumps. The size of a single strand is initially comparable to a long, silver strand of yarn. However, while feeding, Thread grows visibly, being described as a "heavy hawser" rope or "wriggling sausages" about 10 cm by 3 meters in size. Structurally, Thread is composed of many thin, tightly wound filaments within a very fine outer shell or film. Complex proteins allow Thread to consume any carbon-based substance through direct physical contact as well as providing wriggling mobility. Contact with Thread results in "Threadscore," similar to a chemical burn.

History;; Her glowing egg is stationed near a small trickling waterfall on a mossy bed in a little cave.

Talents/Abilities;; She has a strange powdery substance like that of a moth's, and due to this she is very soft and at night, the bright creamy yellow parts of her body begin to glow, like that of a firefly. Her breathe is also a bluish color. Due to the glowing light colored parts of her scales, she is easy to spot at night, thus attracting night predators such as Thanators.

Personality;; Aurasi is extremely loyal to those who she has close bonds with, but can be hot-headed when frustrated. Even so, she is always seen as clever and joyful, a great friend that can always lend someone a shoulder to lean on. Aurasi is confident and determined, ready to be a leader. But sometimes, this can open a gateway stubbornness, and it isn't easy to make her change her decision. Overall, Aurasi is an honest, caring dragon, someone that you could easily become close to.

History;; Her egg appeared after a volcano eruption, amidst a bed of coals and ash. Her blue egg blended in with the heat of the flames, and was only clearly visible when the lava cooled into hard stone.

Talents/Abilities;; Aurasi can control fire, bending it with her will. She cannot harness her powers completely when she is a hatchling, but it will become a great advantage for her, in combat, hunting, protecting herself and her friends, or merely warming herself up in the bitter coldness of Winter.

Talents/Abilities;; Zoë possesses two separate minds; one interacts physically while the other manifests as a soft lavender aura of pure energy. Sometimes the mind that is actively controlling the physical body swaps with the mind controlling the aura and vice versa. The aura can shape itself, touch and manipulate objects independently from the main body but is always in some way connected to it. As a hatchling, the aura’s ability to interact with the world is rather weak, strengthening in power and control with age and practice.

She likes playing "Tag" with her friends and will often look over her shoulder and poke fun at whoever's it while running. She is slightly faster than other Whiptail dragons in her clan. She loves hunting too and her favourite thing to hunt is anything on four legs that she can chase. Even though fragile, she will not take flight. Instead, she will stand her ground and fight!

Personality;; Rale Rock is a peaceful, quiet dragon. However, do not mistake this for shyness. He will retaliate if needed. He can be patient but he does have his limits. If in a conversation, he will stay quiet and just listen, occasionally speaking up to put in any suggestions or opinions that he has. He is sensible and feels foolish if he ever makes a mistake, even if it is a minor or small one. He is much more independent and does not rely on those he protects to feed him. He loves to hunt and loves the taste of fresh meat.

Name of Species: Shakin

Description: Shakin's live in packs of 2-10, they are known as the Demon wolves of Elpis because they grow horns on-top of their heads. These horns can spiral around their ears [kinda like earmuffs] or jut out of their fore-heads. They are fierce creatures and are the size of a large horse. If they do travel alone, be careful they are more vicious alone than they are within a pack, for they have no one to rely on for survival except for themselves. Beware the demon wolves for they hunt at night. They dislike the sun-light so they mostly stay in their Caves unless tempted to. When hunting, the females with young stay behind to care for them, one male usually stays behind just in case to protect them and hunt for them if the other pack-mates do not return. They have glowing eyes of any color really, but they have no pupils. Even so they can see in the dark and in the daytime, however they extremely dislike the light for their eyes are very sensitive to brightness and burns them if they are in it longer than five minutes. Their fur ranges from a dark maroon to a pitch black so basically dull colors like grays, blacks, browns, and rarely dark maroon. If you ever see a albino or a white Shakin they will never go into light for that will cause them to burn within a minute. Due to their sensitivity to light, Shakin's can turn to ash if in the sunlight longer than their supposed to.

Abilities/talents that the species possess: They have very tough and thick hides due to severe adaption so they are one of the few creatures that can survive the extreme conditions at night. They have great stamina and can run at a descent pace of 30mph for a half an hour.

Will do! But I do like the idea of being able to use dragons other than the original DC dragons. I will just put in that if you want to use a non-regular DC dragon then you can use one from the completed dragon requests. Also I will get on the other fixes right away.

Ic;; A sudden jolt shook the once comfortable little home of the Haunting Heartbeat's egg. Darkness, things seemed... very different now as the glowing hatchling was awoken by a sudden movement that rattled her brain. A squeak pierced the air as the dark midnight-colored hatching kicked at the inner membrane that helped seal her from the outside. Another noise, the sound of ripping, filled the air until a tapping noise came from the inside of the shell. Soon a large crack appeared on the egg before a hole replaced it. After another kick, a midnight-blue hatchling slithered out from the strange-colored egg onto the mossy bedding below. Lifting her head, Nitori glanced around making a clicking noise with her forked-tongue. Soon after she lifted her head it collapsed back onto the young ones fore-paws tiredly. After a while of just laying there, Nitori shuddered slightly as a cool breeze swept into the little cave. Lifting her head, the newly hatched dracling slowly began to shakily heave herself to her paws. Turning her head, she then wobbled on the mossy undergrowth until the sunlight reached her undeveloped scaled skin. Her eyes widened as she glared at the terrain ahead.

The unhatched Inferno Ampithere writhed violently in her egg, feeling extremely uncomfortable. She was utterly confused and bewildered. She had never felt such a sensation, the only thing that she thought of was to get out. Only moments before, she had felt comfy and cozy in her warm egg, which had confined her in darkness for what she sensed was a very long time. Now, all her senses were alert and she felt extremely cramped. The pain was beginning to become agonizing and her tiny lungs fought harshly for air. Aurasi scratched vigorously at the interior of her little cage, scrabbling with her whole body and squirming her dim grey and azure body. Suddenly, she heard a deafening crraacckk and a beam of light shot forcefully through a puncture in the Inferno's gleaming turquoise egg. Encouraged, Aurasi wriggled in her egg again, her tiny white teeth tearing at the ever widening hole. In a few heartbeats, the egg cracked completely in half and she tumbled out onto the dusty floor below. At first, she found it hard to focus, and she kept blinking her aqua-colored eyes against the intense light. Even though the sun was veiled by dense ash clouds from the volcano, Aurasi was not used to the brightness of the outside world. She gaped her mouth in a silent wail and slithered around on the sharp stones beneath her. Finally, she stopped, bumping into...something rough and hard. She peered through narrowed eyes at another bright orange light that crackled and spat angry red sparks. Fire and lava. Aurasi crouched in fear and brushed against the same gritty thing. She turned and found herself facing mounds of ash that reached her head. She glanced around, taking in and studying the details of the barren, fiery landscape.

Ic;; Blinking her violet-colored eyes, Nitori checked to make sure her legs would with-hold the young hatchling for the time being as she felt the gnawing sensation of her rumbling belly growing. Staggering down the hill, the newly Haunted Heartbeat dracling looked around, wide-eyed at everything she spied. Then, once she reached the bottom, Nitori gazed around her surroundings, seeing a fiery terrain that spewed orange tongues of flames a little ways from she was. As she tried to calm her rushing mind, the young hatchling, once she finally focused on where she was, found herself near a tree that had brightly colored fruit on it [mango's]. Waggling her haunches, Nitori launched herself from her original position, but miscalculated her judgement and smacked right into the lowest branch of the tree before falling down and hitting the ground with a soft thump. Dazed, the dark blue midnight-colored dracling lolled her head around before she finally managed to roll onto her stomach, which instantly caused a agonizing pain that pounded in her head. With a soft whimper, Nitori glanced back up at the colored fruit tree before attempting to hoist herself to her paws, but instead failed and collapsed on her side, her head pounding heavily with renewed strength.

Aurasi moaned quietly, unsure of what was happening. Moments before she was comfortable in her warm egg, and now she was a hatched dragon, lonely and lost. Silver tears cut a path down her dusty scales, and she coughed hoarsely as the clouds of ash shrouded her view. Suddenly, the Inferno Ampithere heard a soft, muffled thud that echoed quietly through her newly developed ears. Aurasi slithered in the direction of the noise, letting out a tentative call that pierced the silence in the barren landscape. Finally, exhausted, she wriggled to a stop next to a fruit tree that smelled tantalizingly sweet. Aurasi opened her eyes wide and gaped up at the orange fruits helplessly. She inched around the trunk of the tree, searching for a way to get to the juicy mangoes. She let out a sharp gasp as she her tail nudged another hatchling. Aurasi's fear dissolved into relief and she warbled, "H-Hellllooo!" She cleared her voice and exclaimed, "I th-thought I w-was a-alone! Where a-are we?" Aurasi glanced over the Haunted Heartbeat up and down, beaming happily.

Nitori

 

Ic;; After a while of lying there on the ground, Nitori felt something brush against her, startling the young hatchling before she heard a voice. Lifting her head, Nitori eyed the strange dracling, not really registering what she saw until a couple of seconds passed. "Oh, h-hi!" she squeaked, her violet eyes reaching the edge of her gaze. Now that her headache subsided by a lot, the young hatchling rolled onto her paws and shakily heaved herself up, eyeing the Amphithere with increased curiosity. Her gaze twitched from the young hatchling in front of her, to the fruit tree, frowning slightly until she glanced at her, now dried, talons. A sudden noise emanated from her stomach and Nitori glanced up at the Inferno Amphithere hatchling. "I-ssssss, the-ree anny eas-ier f-food arou-around?" Is there any easier food around? Her voice was slurred, and she was having difficulty pronouncing the words by adding too many s's, e's and n's. Then the little hatchling turned around, stumbling as she tangled her front-legs with her hind-legs. With a grunt, Nitori held herself up, flushing with embarrassment. Wait... was that, a new feeling? She had a new feeling! What strange new things she had already found out while being on this new world. Turning her head, Nitori eyed the Amphithere before clumsily making her way over to the other young dracling, sniffing her and then asking, "My name is Nitori, whats yours?" She beamed.

Blue eyes stared at the outside world, the hole was only big enough for his eyes to see through but he would soon make it bigger. He scratched at the egg with his claws, a natural reaction to wanting to get out but in all honesty he was quite relaxed. He would get out in time, he didn’t feel the need to rush. The scratching against the purple lotus-shaped shell filled the quite area. Around him actual lotus flowers drifted across the pond. He felt the water that the egg was floating on move as a large creature stepped into the pond and drank deeply. He smelled like lotus, he wasn’t noticed thankfully. He continued his scratching and the creature lifted its head, looking for the source of the noise. He stopped in fright and held his breath but the creature just shook its head and moved on. The pond sloshed and swayed at its exit.

 

The hole was bigger come nighttime, big enough for his head to get out but he remained safely tucked away in the egg. The blossoms of his eggs blocked his view, allowing him only pink and half a world but as with everything he didn’t mind. They had opened during the day but now that the cold night was coming they closed. They were protecting him, like a mother he had never had. He allowed himself sleep through the night in his cramped egg. He was tired from the day’s scratching. When dawn arrived he would continue but for now he was still an egg. Still hidden, still a baby.

 

With daybreak he resumed his scratching and soon enough the hole was big enough for him to crawl through. He crawled through promptly, ignoring the still closed lotus petals around his egg and he fell into the pond. He sank all the way to the bottom, his blue eyes staring up at the sky. It was beautiful, When he touched down on the bottom of the pond he began to walk along it. When he realized he needed air he made his way to the edge of the pond. Tired from this excursion he found himself a rock and lay down. The sun was bright and warm, the rock was nice and warm. He was comfortable. Time for a nap.

"Food? What's tha-" Aurasi followed Nitori's gaze up to the sweet-smelling fruits. "Oh. So food is...the thing that stops the noises coming from your stomach?" She grinned and indicated with her tail to the Haunting Heartbeat hatchlng's belly. Aurasi stifled a laugh as Nitori's face flushed with embarrassment when she nearly fell, tangled in her own legs. "Oh, uh, my name is..." The Inferno contemlated this for a few heartbeats, knowing that she had a name, but what? "...Aurasi." Yes, that's it, she thought, beaming. My name is Aurasi! She nodded in satisfaction and turned her attention back on the fruit-laden mango tree. She narrowed her eyes at the nearest fruit that was hanging heavily off of a low branch. Aurasi circled the trunk of the tree, attempting to slither up the rough bark of the tree, but was not successful. After all, she had no legs! The Inferno Ampithere hatchling turned back to Nitori, a hopeless expression plastered on her face.

Ic;; Eyeing the young Amphithere, Nitori grinned slightly as she gave her, her name. Aurasi, what a strange name. Mine is strange too! She thought then attempted to casually walk over the Aurasi, but stumble and this time face-planted into the grass underneath. Heat seemed to pulse from her face and the warmth seemed to get sucked into the air faster than she was right now accustomed too as she turned red. Agh! She hissed to herself as the dracling pulled herself from the small mound of uprooted grass from where she fell. The clumsy female snorted crankily before glancing back at Aurasi, giving a half-smile before lifting her head up to see the colorful fruit, dangling tauntingly above. Letting her shoulders sag, Nitori pawed at her growling belly and nodded at Aurasi's question of food before frowning as she attempted to speak, "W-ee-wee shhhh-ooould ffii-find ea-sier foo-food." We should find easier food. Her violet gaze dulled slightly as she realized just how bad she was at pronouncing words, even one she slurred the word or added too many of the same letters in it. Narrowing her gaze, Nitori hauled herself to her clumsy little paws before jerking her head for Aurasi to follow since the mango-fruit was too hard to get, for now. Then the Haunted Heartbeat hatchling stumbled, tripped a couple times over her tiny shaky paws before she finally caught sight of a beautiful little pond with pretty floating flowers on top of the water [lotus's]. The sweet scent of the flowers filled the air as she gazed at her paws, attempting to not look anymore foolish than she already did with all of her stumbling. Once she reached the edge of the lapping water, the young hatchling bent her head as if in instinct and began to lap up the water before raising her head and eyeing the lotus's, wondering if they were edible. Turning her head to look at Aurasi, Nitori squeaked, "Arrre the-they edddddi-edible?" Are they edible? Her voice seemed strained as she tried to say the words correctly.

That was it. The Whiptail hatchling couldn't stand it any longer. She was going to get out of this cramp egg NOW! She squirmed around. But how? By instinct, she lashed out with her tail. The egg cracked, she overbalanced and she fell into water. Splash! She gripped the edge frantically before she could completely go under and pulled herself up, panting. Where the heck was she? Her egg had apparently been right beside a...pond. She wondered what a pond was. Oh. It must be this big circle of water in front of her. She saw two other hatchlings and went over to them quickly.

 

"H-hi?" The word sounded foreign to her. She tilted her head, looking at them curiously. One looked like a snake and the other seemed to be sea-green-coloured.
