Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) (I give some credit to the people who already have their role-plays up for I got some idea's from them that helped me make this role-play.) Introduction: In the year 4530, there was a new planet born, one that thrived near another sun far away from mankind's own planet, Earth. Ellenia [Ellen-e-a] finished forming only a million years ago so things along and in this planet are still adjusting and readjusting to the planets orbital system around it's sun. It is unknown how or why it was created because nothing began growing until a half a million years ago and after that it just took off, continuing to grow new wildlife and plants as well as gravity and other substances. This mysterious planet flourished with new wildlife and even new plants that sprung up from the soft fertile soil. However, with everything that is good, there is always a downside and for this planet named Ellenia, the misfortune that had fallen on this gorgeous world was that the night is bitterly cold. The temperature slowly begins falling in the late afternoon but severely plummets at sunset, reaching negative 50 or on the best of nights, 30. Luckily, life on Ellenia has adapted to this harsh environment. The night may be treacherous but it is one of the most fantastic and most beautiful things on Ellenia for the sky turns different shades of colors due to the way the sun strikes Ellenia's two moons Uru [your-oo] and Lomu [Low-mew]. Plants here also are bigger than most on other planets for trees here can be more than 400 feet tall. You are a dragon living on Ellenia and you must survive the harsh environment for you are one of the very first dragons on this new world due to a colony of dragons from another planet that is orbiting the same one as Ellenia, managed to reach this planet and study it before allowing some of their kind to live on it. However, the dragons that were placed on this planet and even some eggs, cannot remember where they came from or how they got here. The strange dragons from the planet Talion [tall-i-on] got here from different dragons with powers, though some died from so much energy loss, they were able to transfer some dragons and eggs here through Magi's and cast spells around the eggs to keep it so that they don't freeze to death before they are hatched. Even though your adapted to the environment (thanks to the dragons who transferred them here) doesn't mean you are entirely immune to its harsh climate and what this new planet will throw at you. New diseases, animals, dangerous plants that will attack and kill you if they get the chance, and even other dragons that are also new to this place will pose a threat. Can you survive? Adaption for life on Ellenia: For plants, they have attained a thick covering of a gooey substance that transfers the heat around them into the plant or tree itself. In addition the seeds, fruits or whatever that is attached to the plant will be safe from the extreme temperature. At dawn, the temperature rises and the plants slowly release the heat kept up inside of their leaves, bark etc and after a while the ice melts quickly, washing away the gooey substance. Animals and other species have adapted by having thicker hides and special fur, scales, feathers etc to trap heat in. However, this does not mean that they are immune to the bitter cold for at night every living thing with a heart-beat has to seek sanctuary in a hole, cave, den, etc to help themselves from freezing to death. It is safe to come out at dawn because the sun will be out to warm the hides of the creatures. Weather: The weather on Ellenia is very strange indeed for one day it'll look like it'll rain for a week but the next day it is sunny then after that wind picks up. For the most part, however it is sunny with a slight breeze. When it rains it is a downpour, so watch out for floods. At night, water freezes almost instantly depending on how big the portion of water is. Places on Ellenia {Currently constructing still, any suggestions of places would be encouraged} Krina's Forest;; Krina's Forest is a rather large forest with gigantic trees that reach over 400 feet tall. These trees look almost like regular trees but mostly look like sycamores, oak's or a maple except their trunks, and branches are thicker as well as their leaves are wider. It looks almost like this. Liana Falls;; Liana Falls is the largest multitude of waterfalls on Ellenia in one spot and is at the edge of Krina's Forest. Numerous fish live here that have unique habits and some breed year round so food here is plentiful. The water does freeze up at night after 30 minutes of exposure to the freezing temperature of the night. The water does not become solid even under the most frigid of weathers, some say its magic while other's just guess that these multiple waterfalls are enchanted. It looks somewhat like this. Scran's Desert: Scran's Desert is the hottest place on Ellenia even at night the temperature reaches only negative 10 due to the intense heat during the day. There are few oasis's and watering holes that haven't already dried up. This place is home to various lizards, snakes, owls, coyotes, and some other creatures that Ellenia holds. It looks kinda like this. Talents/Abilities;; Like his species can, Sampine loves to use his tail to grasp stuff that is out of his reach or climb trees. He is a great jumper and is known to jump great lengths to get to where he wants to go. Sampine may not be the strongest species of dragon or the strongest Sweetling, but he makes it up for his speed and stamina for since he doesn't weigh very much he can outrun most creatures that live on Ellenia. Generally although she's very motherly to most all hatchlings, and is a good listener; Ismene often gives out advice or lends a shoulder to lean on to those who simply listen. His excellent ability to understand and resolve difficult problems is a great advantage. He is fairly intelligent and well-informed, and he usually excels at speaking in front of large groups of dragons. His downside is that Sheraix usually has little patience with inefficiency or disorganization. When she sets her mind to something, she does it, but will not go out of her own way to do something for others. Naturally she's a leader, as her father was the head of a small clan of dragons, in which she left as soon as she had two sets of wings. Being a beautiful dragon, she's had to turn down quite a few males even though she is young. She does not care much for love although wishes to have hatchlings one day. Overall, she's a girl who only cares for her own needs, will only make friends with the dragons who will help her in any way, and is totally independent. Crush/Mate?;; n/a. History;; Siren grew up next to the sea, thus her name 'Siren', as every night you could hear the mermaids singing -- well, that's what her mother told her. Her father was the head of a clan of about 30 dragons all living along the coast, mainly the sea based dragons, but not many Blusangs. Siren was a brilliant flier the minute she tried it and constantly went out on her own, even when she was a hatchling. As soon as her second pair of wings grew, she flew off after telling her dad she loved him and the same to her mother, but not saying she was leaving. Then she found a male who she fell in love with, but later on learnt he was the father of 3 eggs, and she wasn't the mother. She left, heart broken and set off on her own, not trusting another living soul unless they would be useful. Naturally she's a leader due to her father, but if she doesn't trust many dragons... that won't go well. Talents/Abilities;; An excellent flier due to her 4 wings and her tail, which doesn't droop down too much and keeps balance. But when he did come back from war, she told him, and they moved out of the clan together, with the war ended and all. He stayed with his parents for awhile then left at the age of 3 years [going canine years, so 21] when he first reached his adult stage. Then he joined the army, like his father, and fought in it until he was 5 years of age [35]. He had been hurt during the war, littered in scars [most hidden by his fur] but his worst one was his blindness. Now, he has to stomp his paws whenever he wants to 'see', and depending on how long it takes the vibrations to hit him again, he'll know where something is. Like the sharp, shield-like object at the end of a Guardian Dragon's tail isn't as heavy as it seems, this particular young Shimmer's antlers aren't as fragile as they look, and oh, does she love being underestimated, handing her the upper hand in combat. The downside to her form, though is that she is incapable of magic breath in any form of element. This then, causes her to be bitter about the loss of magicka, and in turn, shortens her temper and causes her to bite (both literally and verbally) at other dragons, assuming they are in possession of fire, ice and whatever sort of elemental breath ability. And despite her cold-blooded (and maybe murderous-looking) exterior, Stanii is quite defensive about her friend*s?* (colleagues? acquaintances?) and once she is informed of someone emotionally or physically hurting or damaging her companion*s?*, then her wrath knows no bounds. They often get along but on the rare occasions when they argue, they just spit insults at one another as they don't dare to fight (they love each other too much). When Mas and Menos have different ideas, like deciding whether to go left or right they'll be going back and forth until one of them comes to an agreement or another dragon decides. Mas likes hatchlings and is patient with them and their antics whereas Menos has no time for annoying, energetic hatchlings and rolls his eyes in disgust when he watches Mas playing with or taking care of them. Mas hates fruits and so does Menos but he secretly likes one type of fruit - raspberries! He tried to keep this a secret but Mas eventually found out. He heals others without needing payment, but he's not a nice dragon to be around and is usually blunt and sarcastic to everyone without regard for their feelings. However, he will brave the perils of combat to heal his injured allies, which has given him a few scars over the years. His insomnia has also shaken a few cogs loose in his head, causing him to experience sudden mood swings and act volatile and unpredictable when pushed in any direction. The constant struggle with insomnia had taken its toll on his distant memories, so he clings to only a few basic traces of what memories used to be. What little he remembers is mostly hatching and raising himself on a world much like Ellenia, minus the freezing night temperatures. He’d been part of a huge family of genetically unrelated dragons that all looked after each other. They lived in a huge structure of some sort that served as his entertainment for many years, as it held a seemingly endless amount of secrets within. There, he had a family of his own, a mate and one offspring. It sometimes irked him how he couldn’t even recall their names any more, but he wasn’t one to cling to the past for too long anyway. His last recollection of his past home was bloodied flashes and loud shrieks of horror. Nothing else remained to hint him onto who he once was and how he once lived. Talents/Abilities;; Physically fit, Ashur strives to remain in tip top shape, be that by hunting for his family, or spending time swimming and running recreationally when fending for himself only. He’s not the strongest, nor does he strive to be, but he makes sure he can at least fend for himself and protect that which he holds dear. Being a grey, he has a strong connection with the natural elements. His primary offensive is the use of electric current manifested as lightning, or simply shot through whatever he comes into contact with. He’s never managed to fry another dragon from the inside out with lightning, like he’s done with humans or similar in size animals, but against others of his kind, electricity has served as a good way to keep enemies confused, or even stunned. The primary utility of his powers is his ability to channel air streams around himself. Although once, at the peak of his power he was able to manifest a tornado, it did more harm then good, and left him on the edge of physical collapse. The greatest use of his air-channeling usually comes as a way to help him mid-flight. He uses it for propulsion and allowing him to make sharper mid-air maneuvers. Defensively, his powers don’t come as much help. His connection to water is his weakest, and seldom works on snow. He can sometimes use rainwater to his advantage, but primarily against things like fire. Other;; Peanut Butter Jelly Time! Other Ellenia specie Characters: Username;; SpiritWolfe Name;; Raegis (Or Rage) Gender;; Male Fur/skin etc color;; Raegis is immense, even larger than most of his species, which are the size of a horse. His thick fur is jet black, each hair tapering off into the rare dark maroon color. Raegis's fur is laced with scars, markings of victory for all the violent battles that he has won. His brown horns are like a ram's, perfect for barging through anything that might be unfortunate enough to be in his way. His eyes are a shining maroon red, and a deep scarlet where his pupils should've been. Raegis has extremely sharp, although stained, claws and teeth that are perfect for tearing through flesh. Maturity stage;; Adult Picture;; Clicky! Species;; Shakin Personality;; Raegis is, if anything, evil. He is a silent kind of killer, and does not speak unless spoken to or if he has something to say. He's not afraid to kill, and sometimes finds pleasure in doing so even if it's not an enemy. Raegis sticks to the shadows and side-lines unless in battle, his black fur blending in with the darkness and moonlight and giving him cover to silently sneak up on an enemy, dispatch them, and slink off without a trace. He's good at watching others, even other animals, to pick up techniques to use when fighting of hunting (whether it be prey or a enemy). He's good at reading between the lines and seeing things that others are not saying out loud. To Raegis, the eyes are the windows to the soul and he often times uses them to understand someone. While he's good at being quiet and being cunning, those skills do not relate to being social or allowing others to get to know him. So he's not good at making friends or being part of a large group (Raegis usually lives in packs of 3-7). Even so, he can still gain others' respect, as he is a great, yet ruthless, fighter. Accepted Ellenia Specie Forms: Username: vallay111 Name of Species: Shakin Description: Shakin's live in packs of 2-10, they are known as the Demon wolves of Ellenia because they grow horns on-top of their heads. These horns can spiral around their ears [kinda like earmuffs] or jut out of their fore-heads, as seen in the link below. They are fierce creatures and are the size of a large horse. If they do travel alone, be careful they are more vicious alone than they are within a pack, for they have no one to rely on for survival except for themselves. Beware the demon wolves for they hunt at night. They dislike the sun-light so they mostly stay in their Caves unless tempted to. When hunting, the females with young stay behind to care for them, one male usually stays behind just in case to protect them and hunt for them if the other pack-mates do not return. They have glowing eyes of any color really, but they have no pupils. Even so they can see in the dark and in the daytime, however they extremely dislike the light for their eyes are very sensitive to brightness and burns them if they are in it longer than five minutes. Their fur ranges from a dark maroon to a pitch black so basically dull colors like grays, blacks, browns, and rarely dark maroon. If you ever see a albino or a white Shakin they will never go into light for that will cause them to burn within a minute. Due to their sensitivity to light, Shakin's can turn to ash if in the sunlight longer than their supposed to. Abilities/talents that the species possess: They have very tough and thick hides due to severe adaption so they are one of the few creatures that can survive the extreme conditions at night. Username: Dragongirl10188. Name of Species: Roroa [Row-eye-ah] Description: The species of Roroa are vicious creatures that are fairly fast and have strong jaws. Think of them as a lion on steriods, but with a crest on top of their head. The crest is to attract mates -- the females have paler red crests and the males have brighter red. The brighter the red, the more chance of getting females and higher-bred ones. They will not stick together after breeding and the female will be left to care for the younglings [which are born alive and suckle from their mother]. Abilities/talents that the species possess: Just being strong and speedy, I suppose? Are they Gender specific? (Only male/female): There are both males and females, although females are usually slightly smaller but faster, although their teeth can crush bone. Other: They have their own way of communicating, and when they talk I use <[insert speech here]> aka the little < > as they talk to seperate it from English, in which they cannot speak anyways. Not many dragons know how to speak their language. The creatures can understand english, but not talk it. Username: vallay111 Name of Species: Brutoanum {Brute-oh-an-um} Description: Brutoanum's are rather large beasts that have two sharp horns jutting out from between their eyes. They are rather like buffalo and circle around their young when predators are around. Their hides are thick so they are hard to kill but they are slow due to their lumbering mass and when charging they can go up to 20 mph but they have a hard time slowing down or turning while in that state. Males weigh around 2500 lbs while females weigh around 1500 lbs. They travel in large herds of 10-20 or more. The males challenge each-other for the right to mate with the females so the bones in their skulls are thick because they charge at each-other. However during mating season which is from spring to fall, their ranks of dominance are on how many battles they won and scars for the males get injured regularly due to their horns. The females usually have smaller horns and are smaller than the males which are around 25 ft tall and the females 20 ft tall. The babies are born alive and females can have up to two at a time. When born, the babies will suckle milk and are 5 ft tall. Abilities/talents that the species possess: Brutoanum's are large creatures that with one swipe of those horns, will kill or severely injure/cripple a creature. Are they Gender specific? Other: Umm... nada Username: vallay111 Name of Species: Tonanik {Ton-an-ik} Description: Tonanik's are a flightless breed of bird but are 4 ft tall and travel in large numbers up to 15. They breed year round and eat insects and fresh/rotten meat. Their color ranges from purple to a light blue/turquoise and have scales all along their belly, chest and underneath their chin that can be gold or tanish. The females lay up to four eggs and almost never leaves the eggs alone unless she gets hungry, but she will have her mate or one of the members in her flock sit on them while she hunts. The eggs hatch in three weeks and immediately want food. They are mostly scavengers unless they come across something that might be able to be taken down, so they do go on hunting trips with up to four Tonanik's. They will steal eggs from other flocks of their own kind and even dragon eggs if they get the chance to. The nesting materials they use is ferns, leaves and twigs. The males are distinguished by their brighter colors so they can attract mates and the females are slightly smaller. They do have beaks but they also have sharp teeth inside of those beaks so be careful. The males will bring gifts to the females and the most pleasing gift will be able to mate with them. They may not be mates for life but they do not become inbred, and if there's too many relatives in one flock they'll join another or find a male loner away from the flock to breed with. Abilities/talents that the species possess: They are light on their feet and can reach speeds up to 35 mph but, kind of like a cheetah they don't have the best stamina. The females are faster than males, but the males are stronger than the females so the males hunt/scavenge or steal more than females for the females tend to work on their nests or scout around to make sure predators aren't around. Username: Animals4501 Name of Species: Scythetail dragon Description: These dragons are small, pony-sized dragons with lots of armor. They have rings around their neck that protect the soft throat. Their wings are long, sharp feathers that do not allow them flight. Once one of the feathers falls out, it grows back straight away. On their tail are two hollow- but strong- scythes that can be deadly if you are hit hard enough by it. On females, the scythes curve back to the very tip of the tail, but on males, the inner side of the scythes curve back to the third joint from the tail. On their head is a metal-like "helmet" that has bladed spikes, allowing them to ram into their enemies and causing horrible wounds. Abilities/talents that the species possess: Their tail is deadly, and that's pretty much it. Are they Gender specific? (Only male/female): no. Username: SpiritWolfe Name of Species: Serani Description: Serani are mysterious, yet elegant creatures. They are shy, deer-like animals with silky, yet dense, fur which range from snow white to pale blue. The males are slightly larger than the females, and they have stunning, impossibly large antlers, which they carry with pride. Amazingly, these antlers do not seem to affect their running, in fact, it helps them when fending off attackers. Serani are very light-footed (although the females are more nimble than males) so it would be quite rare to see them in plain sight. At night, when it is the coldest, the fur on the Serani give off a enchanting aura of light. This glow keeps their bodies warm, but it is a horrible disadvantage for the Serani, as it may attract predators. This is the reason why they are an extremely rare, but they will always be a beautiful sight. Abilities/talents that the species possess: As said before, Serani are unimaginably nimble and agile, and they also have their 'aura' of light that keeps them warm in the frigid temperatures of night. Other: Passcode:3 Username: animals4501 Name of Species: Toukx (saurian for "death") Description: Toukx are evil creatures, never showing their true forms. They feed on life energy, and are not true living beings. Some say that they are merely shadows, others say they are illusions. But they are dangerous, even though they cannot be physically touched. They live in packs or clans. The base of a Toukx clan is surrounded by shadow, no matter how bright it is outside. Toukx use their screeching voices to stun their prey, and hide in the shadow of their victim(s). Although they can't be touched physically, they can be destroyed simply by fire, electricity, water, shock waves, or super-strong winds. Abilities/talents that the species possess: Toukx have quite a few abilities: Transforming Making illusions Hiding in shadows Possessing weak-willed creatures Are they Gender specific?: Toukx have no gender, and they cannot reproduce sexually. Anyways, I'm Dragongirl10188 [but call me Dragon or Draggie] and I'm an approver, so here's some crit;; miles away from Earth and it's orbiting cycle around it's own sun. Both "it's" should be its. Since 'it's' in this case, means it is. environment doesn't mean you are entirely immune to it's harsh climate Same case here. Posted April 20, 2013 Science nitpick: 40 billion miles from the sun is still well inside our solar system. At the edges of the sun's gravitational pull there's a giant cloud of comets called the Oort cloud, which is 5000 to 10000 AUs away from the sun. One AU is 93 million miles, so 5000 AU is almost 500 billion miles. If there were another star somewhere in there for the new planet to orbit around, it would probably have crashed into or started a binary star system with our sun by now. (Either way everyone on Earth would probably be dead.) Yeah, space is huge. Honestly though I'm probably the only person bothered by this, and trying to calculate actual distances between Earth and other planets when everything in space is orbiting something else is probably a pain, so feel free to ignore it. Also, if we are playing as the first few dragons on the planet, what does that mean exactly? Did some other planets' dragons decide to start a colony on this planet? How did something as big as a planet just appear somewhere all of a sudden anyway, or is that supposed to be mysterious? Share this post Link to post

Memi Ic;; The first rays of dawn struck outside a darkened cave where only a shimmering turquoise light flickered. A shadow of a dragon moved, it's emerald eyes glaring at the sun's rays before finally slowly padding out. This creature was not a normal Arsani, for it looked quite different from all the rest. It was a shade of blue and a forest green lining her back. Flicking her gaze around, Memi stepped into the warmth of the sun, watching at the foliage and the trees frost melt away with the sticky stuff that protects the plants from freezing to death. Every creature on Ellenia managed to survive the bitter coldness from adaptation. They either had thick hides, or in case of plants some mysterious gooey stuff that encased that heat around them within the plant and expelled all coldness from them to survive the negative 50 climate. To her everything was still cold but not as much as it could be, for the sun quickly warmed up in the mornings but slowly withdrew its heat in the afternoon before withdrawing every last bit of warmth when the sun disappeared over the horizon. But before that could happen, every animal, besides the terrible Shakin and some other unknown creatures that made severe adaptation to survive the bitter cold had to find sanctuary in either a cave, a hole, a den or something else that might shield them from the wind that adds to the freezing nights. Everything that had a heat source seemed very valuable when the sun disappeared and the howling of the Shakin's and the wind rose above everything else. However, even if you do have warmth, there are creatures wandering Ellenia that would love to make a meal on anything alone at night. So that's one of the reasons Memi made her home on the side of a cliff. The upside was that certain predators like the Shakin couldn't get to her, the downside was that if she ever got injured and couldn't fly she would be vulnerable to frostbite, frozen to death, Shakins, other predators or worse. Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) (( OOC: Can Ismene be friends with Memi? )) Ismene uncurled her tail from around her body, basking in the welcoming warmth of the brimming sun. Her scales gave off a silvery glow of pleasure as she escaped from the wrath of the frigid night. She trotted over to Memi and settled down next to her, dipping the tip of her claw into the sticky liquid from the plants. "Shall we go hunting first?" She inquired, flicking her tail playfully at Memi's ear. The Silver stood up and stretched her long, elegant body and flexed her paws with a contented sigh. Sheraix woke with a start, the shroud of shadows around his body twisting and twirling in agitation. The morning sun penetrated through his makeshift den, and he flinched involuntarily. The freezing temperatures didn't harm him as much as a normal animal, as he could simply fade into a swirling mass of fog until dawn. He tossed his head luxuriantly as his body began to form a distinct shape, the writhing shadows becoming limbs. He padded outside, carefully not to step into the melting substance from the plants. Shakin - Raegis Raegis growled in frustration as the blazing sun hit him square in the face and he retreated quickly into his damp, dark cavern. At least the huge Shakin had eaten; he had come across the corpse of an adult Brutoanum as he had prowled around in the night before. He flexed his huge claws and bared his malicious fangs, deeply disgusted that a powerful creature like him could perish in the rays of sunlight. Raegis padded wearily over to the dimmest corner of her cave and lay down with a loud thump, where he curled his tail over his malicious scarlet eyes. Memi Ic;; Memi jerked her head, startled until she realized that it was Ismene. Flexing her talons, the Arsani nodded, flicking her tail as she spread her wings, then glanced at Ismene, "Are you able to get down from here? Or are you going to use the tree-tops?" She was always puzzled on how the silver dragoness got up here for she had no wings. Nevertheless, Memi was happy to have company and to have a friend instead of being alone all those bitter nights, terrified that something might find her before she froze to death. Luckily she survived but her scales turned a shade of blue with green along her back as a punishment for hatching in the midst of the freezing night. She was also smaller than her kind ought to be because the frost messed up her growth somehow. With a swipe of her wings she was airborne and spiraling around in the sky, waiting for Ismene to come for the hunt. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) Frozen Comet woke up withthe sun's rays shining on her. In her cave there is a small hole on the ceiling to let in the moons' rays. This is were Frozen Comet sleeps. She stretched her body and slowly made her way out of the cave to the inviting sun. Frozen Comet looked back at her cave. I was surrounded by beautiful plants and was somewhat hidden by them. Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) Ismene laughed and cast a small, affectionate lick to Memi's turquoise-scaled shoulder. "Don't worry, just watch!" She called, letting loose a brilliant smile. The Silver leapt from their ledge and glided gracefully down to the forest floor, spreading out her legs and using her tail to guide her in diferent directions; almost like a flying squirrel. She touched down to the floor with a soft thump, where she ran after Memi, looking up every once in a while to keep her in her sight. "Memi! Look around for some prey, I won't be able to see any from a long distance from down here." Ismene panted but ran faster, her scales flashing furiously with the effort.
