Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Peter simply watched as the small fight unfolded. He was a smart enough hobbit, and an experienced enough... worker... to know not to get involved in a fight like this. Luckily the brawl ended quickly without him being obligated to help. "Well, i think is' about time we got to bed. If we plan on leaving tomorrow, i think a good nights sleep would be in order. It works wonders. I'm sure I can help take care of finding any provisions at a reasonable price in the morning" Peter said. With that, he got up, and headed up to one of the rooms to sleep. Posted October 7, 2014 ((We're still at the inn.)) Larien nodded to the man. She could see Shala wondering if the apology was enough, and to her it would do lest they wanted to start yet another fight. "Accepted. Be sure to not have it happen again." She added, glancing to Shala as the man slowly and warily got up. He skirted around the Dwarf with care as to be sure not to piss her off more before scurrying back to where he had been sitting. A few of the other men laughed a little at him, though they didn't much and the she-elf could only attribute that to the Dwarf handiwork that had been done here. "Perhaps we ought to rest and leave a little earlier than intended before these humans get back their stupidity from their drink." Larien suggested, now glancing back to the man behind the counter. He didn't say that their rooms had been filled yet or that they had been kicked out due to the fight. But then again, with a group like theirs, who would want to chance kicking them out? Posted October 13, 2014 With the man’s apology accepted, Shala gave a curt nod as he walked away but then looked around the room to see if anyone was going to challenge them further. Since it was apparent that the fight was over, she managed to suppress a sigh as she said, “Aye, the two of you are most likely right...but first,” she looked to the unknown Dwarf who had joined the fight, “who is your friend here, Dandy?” She knew it wasn’t the time for a lengthy conversation with the other Dwarf, but it would’ve been rude to not at least get his name and thank him for his aid. --- Cuthraed breathed a sigh of relief as everything settled down but he didn’t immediately leave his spot by the bar when Peter and Larien suggested they turn in for the night. It wasn’t that he wanted another drink but rather, he wanted to make sure that everyone did make it up to their rooms without further trouble. Share this post Link to post

Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) ((Can’t speak for anyone else here, but I don’t see any problems with you changing characters. However, would it be okay to ask you to please write an exit post for Trippy so we can preserve continuity? Even if it’s a quick greet the others and then he goes up to bed because he’s off on his own quest in the morning. As for the spots available…Not including Trippy, the only IC posts since Feb 10 have been for the following characters: Elves: Larien (DH) Dwarves: Dandy (Thaelasan); Shala (me) Men: Cuthraed (me) Hobbits: Peter Karlkin (na82008); Thorns (JerimiahDevitt) Waltzer did make an OOC post on July 12, but that appears to have been his last post on the forum, so not sure if we should count his character (Robin). By that same token, JerimiahDevitt’s last IC post was on June 22 and his last forum post was on August 14. Not intending to be mean here, but do we really want to hold spots for inactive members? I vote for the spots available to reflect the above list, minus Thorns, plus SilentBaws’s new character. Any thought, comments or counterpoints anyone?)) I see no point in holding inactive character spots when they don't seem to even be making an effort to come back... or respond to the message I sent around once asking if they were indeed coming back. So go ahead and proceed to make a new character Silent, but yes, I second the exit post for Trippy for continuity purposes )) Share this post Link to post
Posted October 14, 2014 Trippy frowned as the fight ended, he was just getting warmed up. His friend Dandy appears to have a fine 'fellowship'. "I'm Trippy."He said with a bow towards the lady dwarf. "Now I'd best be off, I got a quest of my own."He said. "Been pleasant meeting you Dandy." He said, and with this he went back up to his room to prepare for his journey. Posted October 21, 2014 Shala nodded to Trippy both in greeting and in appreciation for his aid in the fighting, and as he started to head up the stairs, she said, “Mukhuh Mahal bakhuz murukhzu” |May Mahal's hammer shield you|. Taking one last look around the room, she nodded at her companions, ignored those who weren’t looking at them (some being deliberate about not), but taking note of those who were still watching in case they might cause trouble later. Without another word, she also headed up to their rooms. Cuthraed watched as the rest of their company went up the stairs and when he was the last one in the room, he turned to the unhappy looking barkeep. “Dwarves…” he said in a somewhat resigned tone as he placed some coins on the counter. “You can always depend upon them to defend their companions.” With that, he retired to their rooms as well. --- Early the next morning, Shala awoke first and trying to take care not to awaken Larien, she dressed and went back downstairs. Though the main room was still in a bit of disarray, it was clear that most of the mess had already been cleaned; presumably the previous night. The only person in the room was the barkeep who murmured a greeting as he briefly glanced at her only to quickly look back at her with a mixture of worry and anger. Giving the man a small apologetic smile, she straightened an overturned chair and then reached into her pouch as she approached him. Setting some coins on the table nearest to where the barkeep stood, she said, “I do apologize for my part in this.” Once again, without another word she turned away set about helping him finish cleaning. Posted October 25, 2014 Hazel unsheathed her sword, staring at an unaware Uruk. "Wrong place at the wrong time." She whispered to no one exactly. She was just about to slice his head off when the Uruk turned to face her, he grabbed her arm and tossed her to his side. She hit a tree shoulder first, just to realize the Uruk was proceeding to stab her, she rolled to the right and the Uruk's sword was now stuck to the tree. She kicked the Uruk's leg, disabling him for a few seconds as she took out her dagger and stabbed his left arm multiple times. The Uruk regained his stability and took his sword back from the tree and winged at Hazel, she was able to dodge the blade, but its tip still met Hazel's arm. Hazel picked up her sword from the ground and stabbed the Uruk twice in his chest, her left arm was bleeding, but at least that Uruk was down. She took out a piece of cloth from her back and tied it to her bleeding arm. "This should do it for now, I should get going or I won't catch them in time."She thought. [ She was assigned to aid the group by her order. ] Share this post Link to post
Posted October 28, 2014 Dandy sighed in boredom. "Aye. I suppose that's how it goes." he whispered as he headed up the stairs. He headed into his room, exasperated. This group was fun and rowdy, yes, but they were certainly not getting into anything worth "barding" just yet. However, he raised his chin back up, smiling. There were things in this group that could become that, if time was given amply! He opened up his door, placing Mountainwaker gently upon the wall with the ceremony of a small child. He even placed an extra blanket on it. "All yer stones had better fear... for th' Mountainwaker's near." he sang softly, heading to the bed while removing his outer armor. "All yer men had better clear, for th' Mountainwaker's here." He laid his head to rest. His dreams that night were uneventful, but one person stood out in them. A young, familiar dwarven lass he had recently met, who waved at him from afar, waiting for him to join her. "Shala, yer a fine, strong one.." he mumbled, rolling over. ----- As he woke up, he looked out the window, concerned. Nothing had happened during the night, it seemed. One of the rowdy men had apparently been taken to the stocks as an example to those who wanted to cause trouble. Dandy wondered if it had been due to the barfight, or something during the night. Ah well! Wasn't his problem, wassit?! He grinned broadly as he redressed, buckling his armor back on in several places. Some of them were snug, as always, so he loosened them and tightened them suitably. He then grabbed Mountainwaker gently and replaced it on his back, tightening his weapon belt with a final pull. He placed his hands on his hips, ready to face the day. He pushed the door open and headed down the stairs. Of course, though he was a rowdy, tale-telling dwarf, he was also prompt - so that he never missed song-worthy events! He was already sitting at the tables before Shala arrived. As she apologized to the innkeeper, he watched with interest. Such an honorable dwarven girl, she was. Her pa would be proud. "So, that's it then? Oh, and me apologies too, Mr. Innkeeper!" Dandy waved at the man, smiling warmly. "Didn't mean ta impose in such a way, ye kin!?" He then turned back to Shala, grinning as he always did. "So! Shall we head out!? I'm ready, ye kin." he nodded firmly. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2014 Shala gave a small start when Dandy spoke. She felt a little sheepish for not noticing him but she was glad to see him apologize as well. She returned his smile as she said, “Well, we cannot head out until everyone has risen, but I do need to pay a visit to the blacksmith. Would you care to join me while we await the others?” ((Sorry for delaying our departure, but she has to get the sword and I wanted one more bit with the blacksmith…)) Share this post Link to post
Posted November 3, 2014 Dandy shrugged pleasantly, in the sort of fashion that said "as ye bid." "Certainly, lass. After all, he seemed a nice sort o' fellow and I wouldn't mind meetin' him again." Dandy said as he stood to his feet. "And ye wouldn't be very good in a fight without yer blade, though I don't doubt ye can use yer fists right well enough." He gestured to the door, beginning to walk that way himself. "Shall we?" he said. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Username: I don't know. Character Name: Beau Montgomery. Character Sex: Male. Character Age: Eighty. (About 30.) Character Race: Dwarf. Character Appearance and Brief Background: With haggard eyes of forest green and a lean, almost skeletal about him, it'd be easy to describe Beau as malnourished. Oddly enough, no beard though. It's almost like he was born without it, since everyone knows that every Dwarf, even newborns, have one that they spend more time bathing and dressing it up than a good mother spends taking care of their children. (If you didn't know, that's impossible.) What they don't know, however, is that Beau did not make the best life choices. It quickly landed him in a prison of ill repute, one famous for its treatment of prisoners. He escaped when a guard's key fell off their belt due to carelessness. Quick fingers won Beau the day, and he waited 'til the sun went down and the jailer went for a piss. After all, who'd expect a prisoner to jaunt out of their cell and come from behind with a rock? Definitely not that guy. Beau has light skin, nearly pale from time spent either underground or indoors. He slides between sunbeams during the day, preferring to sneak around in the dark. That is also his battlefield philosophy; after all, how do you react to an attack you don't see coming? The simple answer is: You die. Character Personality: An awkward silence surrounds this fellow, provided you see him, of course, since he's sneakier than a Hobbit. So nocturnal you could call him a bat, he prefers the cover of shadow to the light of day. He walks with a quiet gait, the almost as if a shroud of secrecy around him; couple that with his no-nonsense way of doing things and you'd find a hard person to make friends with. It's not as though he doesn't want any, it's just hard to approach him. He's been known to throw out a joke or two, but ultimately it just comes down to whether he likes you or not. Protip: He usually doesn't. This stems from the fact that if you take someone with you on a job they're going to slow you down and get you caught, even if they're a fellow footpad. He prefers the company of the trees, mostly because they don't talk as much. He's fast on his feet, and even though he doesn't have the same speed as an man or elf, he has the endurance to keep up with the best of them. Probably due to the amount of time he spent running from hounds. With a shrewd mind, it's hard to understand how a professional such as himself was caught in the first place. Weaponry: Beau carries with him a wrought silver ax of Dwarvish make. At the tip of this fine weapon is a spike that may be used for piercing, although it does not protrude very far. Whether it's stolen or not he'll never say. The blade is finely sharpened; with one good swing it's likely to remove a limb with sufficient practice. For backup, he has a dagger fastened to his right boot. When fighting he usually holds his ax and a short sword. Nothing else.Character Skills: He's a burglar. Certain things come with the profession that are less legal than most. He can pick a lock better than most, and he carries with him the tools of the trade. It's the gift that keeps on giving, since most put their shiny things in a dull wooden box. He serves to quickly get in between the chest and its charge. Or a jewel box. Actually, any box. Other skills include archery, some underhanded swordsmanship, and any other useful thing one might expect an average man, dwarf, or, god forbid, elf to have. Beau's a veritable jack-in-the-box. Also quite good at squeezing through small gaps, despite his Dwarvish persuasion. Other: Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Absolute space. . . . Fine, he's also a decent cook. Also partial to pretty faces and sob stories. Edited November 4, 2014 by Astrodeath311 Share this post Link to post
Posted November 18, 2014 ((Well, in the hopes that we’re still here and you’re still interested Astrodeath, your sheet looks good to me. The only possible concern I see is that to my admittedly limited knowledge of metals, silver isn’t strong enough to be used in bladed weapons. However, I also feel that it is kind of a minor thing so unless someone else feels otherwise, it may not be an actual issue. Thael, hope you don't mind my moving them to the blacksmith like this. It can be edited so that Dandy can respond sooner if you'd prefer.)) “Aye, we shall,” Shala said as she started to head to the door, and then she gave a small mischievous grin as she added, “And fists work best when trying to not kill your opponent.” With that, the two Dwarves left the inn and headed to the blacksmith’s shop. However, as they approached the forge was strangely quiet and rounding the corner, one assistant could be seen asleep nearer to the forge while the other assistant was not seen. Meanwhile, the blacksmith was looking tired but pleased as he sat oiling the blade of the sword Shala had left in his care the previous evening. Looking at Shala and Dandy’s approach, the blacksmith smiled and said, “Ah there you are lass. Just wiping off the last of the oil.” Standing up he offered Shala the sword as he almost ceremoniously said, “Deathless.” Shala took the sword and as she once again gently ran her finger down the flat of the blade her eye briefly misted. Blinking the unshed tears away, she turned her attention back to the blacksmith as she said, “To have accomplished what you have in such a short time is truly a testament to your skill. I cannot thank you enough, Master…?” Though her words were clearly an invite for him to give his name, the blacksmith instead went to a side table which had a cloth seemingly haphazardly tossed on it. “What is this I hear about a ruckus at the inn?” He asked as he gave both Shala and Dandy a stern look. Shala once again felt almost like a stripling caught doing wrong, but she kept her tone casual as she said, “Just some Men who needed to learn some manners.” Share this post Link to post
