"A gathering!" Tike squeaked, and was there in a flash. He made himself comfortable by leaning against a large rock, and clearing the pebbles away from the spot he was sitting in. A purple-ish hatchling was standing on a ledge. There were also many other hatchlings gathered around, most of which Tike had not met. He swished his tail a bit impatiently, eager to hear what the gathering was about, and for the gathering to end and roam around outside a bit more.

"Oh," Alla said, when the Thunder hatchling was announcing the beginning of the gathering. "Come on, we should go." Alla scrambled to avoid getting in the way of the other hatchlings arriving in the cave. She seated herself somewhere near the front, but more in the middle. Out of all the hatchlings in the cave, she's only talked to one. She sat up straighter, giving her attention to the hatchling on the ledge. It was good that they called for a meeting. There were a lot of questions she had, most of which she needed help answering.

Ferovan felt Estra tug gently on his wing when the Thunder hatchling called the meeting. He made his way over quickly, standing on his two legs easily to be able to see the front. He took a deep breath again, and felt the comforting warmth grow within him. He wondered what is was, but he ignored it for now.

Gysentia hopped up the rocks until she was beside a bird-looking dragon that was bright green. She sighed as she looked out at the group. Not all of the eggs had hatched, but the dragons were already all shapes and sizes. Most of the sizes significantly larger than herself. "Hi, I'm Gystentia" She said quietly to the dragon beside her.

"Alla." He repeated the word the bright dragon spoke to him, and noticed she gestured to herself. Then she asked him a question, about him. What was he called? He cocked his head quizzically at her, not sure how to answer that. He had barely started to realize that they could communicate beyond looks, and now she wanted to know if he had named himself. He had not really thought about it yet. A rumble issued from his belly while he processed her question and what was taking place around them. A hatchling had risen above the rest and was calling for attention. His was still on his new friend, and he started to open his mouth to ask her to explain "name." What came out was a large belch that tinged the air with a sulfuric odor. The orange female wrinkled her nostrils, then nodded in satisfaction. "Sumpor," she repeated, before getting to her feet and finding her way through the other babies. Sumpor followed her, repeating the sound he had made, though in a softer rumble that didn't include gases from his body. That would be his name, ever after.

Biru paced back and forth in front of the cave mouth, until all the others were huddled in front of the thunder who had called them together. Then she chose a place at the back where she could see everything, and studied each hatchling in turn. She also studied the area, her bright eyes taking in the rustle of tree and bush, the scampering of creatures different from the dragon hatchlings finding their way in the world. But something told her they were not the largest things in the world, not yet, and there could be something out there that could treat them as roughly as the bird that now lay picked clean to the bone somewhere behind her. She had passed it on her way, wishing to herself that there had been something left on it. The lingering scent of blood and meat stayed with her and made her feel empty. But she would find out how to get her own, later.

A warmish body settled beside her thigh and peeked up at her. "Hi, I'm Gysentia," it introduced itself. Biru was not sure whether it was food or friend at that point, though it looked more friend, but was the size of food. She wasn't sure what to do or say. Her only contact thus far with the others had been a staredown over her glass shell house.

"Um. I am Biru." Now what?

"W-what do you th-think this is about?" She asked Ferovan as he made his way over. She somewhat envied the fact that he, along with many others, had an easy enough time maneuvering throughout the cave. It seemed so much more difficult for her. Climbing though...now that she could do. Her claws hooked into small nooks and crannies with amazing ease and from there it was a piece of cake; all she had to do was heave herself up. She shrugged the feeling off, though. I'm sure everyone has their own challenges...

Looking up at Estra, Ferovan lifted his wings in what he hoped clearly showed he didn't know. "I hope it's impor...tant, whatever it is." He replied, looking out at the hatclings. He was pleased that he was somewhat larger than most of them. Though that might not last He thought to himself.

Gysentia let out a happy chirp. "Nice to meet you, Biru. You have some pretty blue markings." She observed, curling up on the ground. She wished that the meeting would start. She was starting to get sleepy.

She nodded in agreement. Then she felt a disturbance in the bowels of her being as she bent over in pain. It felt as if something in her was roaring in agony or rage. She winced a little until the pain passed and she looked up. Estra looked over at Ferovan, somewhat confused, "I hope it is not that impor-tent. I need to find food..." She looked around to see how many were there. Maybe she could slip away to find something? It may be late and dark, but she knew she'd never make it through to see the yellow disc again if she did not find food. Her hunger was so bad at this point that she thought the risk of finding something dangerous outside was less than the importance of finding food.

Ferovan looked at Estra, concern written on his young face. "Do you think you could eat one of the orange things?" He asked, knowing that those were close by...and they hadn't run away during the day. He hopped a few times closer to the entrance, looking back to see if she thought she could. "I'd be back really fast" He added, hoping that she would be able to eat them. If not he could always try fishing...

Ruscella woke up in in a different place. The water was glowing beautifully. "Ruscella..." She jumped and looked up at an indescribable figure. Her eyes widened and stared, and was speechless. "You must go back. Leave this forbidden place." The figure lifted a sword she now noticed and speared her stomach. She screamed bloody murder and woke up back to where she fainted. She was bleeding heavily.

Mifoki was confused why Airean ran. Then she saw a bleeding hatchling in the distance. She immediately ran towards her and started to pick her up. "Help me!" She cried to the tsunami and Airean. She struggled to pull her and pushed the berry off with her feet unknowingly.

She woke surrounded by darkness. This did not scare her particularly, as darkness was all she’d ever known. She was sleepy, which was odd, as she had been sleeping for a very long time. In fact, her only memory was one of long, peaceful, never-ending darkness. She reflected on this for a bit. Finally, she grew conscious of the limited space in her—what was it? Egg, she realized. Her knowledge seemed to be instinctual. She began to shift, rocking the egg back and forth. As she moved, her name surfaced. Nylaeni. Nai-lay-nie. She paused her agitated shifting for a moment, rolling the name around in her head. She liked the way it sounded. It was her. She stretched her wings out against the sides of the egg happily, pleased by her name. Nylaeni lashed her tail and let out a shriek of joy, startling herself into stillness. Slowly, she began to make a variety of noises, experimenting with sound. Once she grew tired of that, she began again to work on the egg, more insistently this time. She lashed her tail again and again until a small crack appeared in the shell wall. Now Nylaeni turned and dug at it with her small, sharp claws, widening it. A small piece of her shell fell away, letting pale light stream into the confines of her shell. She paused again, blinking in the strange light. It wasn’t very bright, but it was brighter Curiosity drew her forward, and she widened the hole with her nose until it was big enough for her to crawl out. She blinked a few times, looking right and left. There were many other hatchlings and countless eggs. The dazzling array of colors and patterns was overwhelming for a creature that had just escaped the endless darkness of an egg. Nylaeni sat back on her haunches rather heavily. On the other side of the cave, a few dragons had convened below a ledge. On it sat a female hatchling that crackled with electricity and had an air about her that said ‘Leader.’ But a small blue hatchling on the edge of a pool seemed to be hurt! Nylaeni crawled towards the other dragons slowly, unsure of what to do.

~

Halith. That was the first thing that came to her mind. It was her name. She wasn’t sure how she knew this—or, indeed, how she knew anything. She knew she was in an egg. But what was outside? Halith wondered for a moment, trying to form a picture of the world outside her shell. She could hear the sounds of other dragons moving about, if only faintly. A sudden wave of excitement washed over her, and she began to scratch eagerly at the shell of her egg. Slowly, cracks appeared in the wall. She scratched harder, putting what little weight she had into the effort. Soon she was able to stick her nose out and inhale the myriad of smells that surrounded her. The air was cool and slightly damp, painting images of a dark, rocky underground cavern. A fresh breeze also reached her nose. Halith smelled water and something sharp, spicy. Something green…she hummed happily and shoved her head out farther. Soft blue eyes blinked, taking in the fading sunlight. Across the cave, a small blue dragon lay at the edge of a pool. She was bleeding from a large chest wound, turning the water red. Something stirred in Halith’s chest. She clumsily made her way over, ignoring the other hatchlings, and blinked at the dragon for a moment. There was so much blood! She trembled but slowly stretched her nose out, gently touching the little blue dragon. After a pause, there was a flash of heat and suddenly Halith was exhausted. She swayed for a moment and then collapsed with a sigh, little legs buckling, unable to see the result of her work.

Hearing Mokofi cry, he rushed over to find the hatchling covered in blood. Why didn't I do something about this earlier?! he thought to himself. Airean had never seen so much blood before, he tried wiping away most of it with his wings, but that didn't help much. He didn't know what to do about the bleeding, it seemed like it would never stop. So he yellow so loud the whole cave could hear the Blusang "Can someone please help us? There's a hatchling bleeding to death, we need people to help us!" While he waited for an answer, you flew as fast as he could to get leaves to put over the wound. Please don't let this hatchling die... he thought while he returned with the leaves. He noticed another hatchling collapsed, but focused on the Tsunami.

Whoah, wait, what? How did this happen? Is there something dangerous we don't know about? Eriadna was confused. She had no idea how this could happen: the pool seemed calm enough, and there were no sharp objects save the shards of the eggs, and those had no chance of penetrating the skin. Flying as hard as she could, Eriadna burst outside with a speed that amazed herself, gathered some soft grass and moss, and turned back. Will this be enough? Eriadna thought to herself. Oh! If Ruscella is hurt badly, she might have a hard time getting food! Pleased by her forethought, Eriadna grabbed an orange, and brought the pile of items back to the cave. She dumped everthing down near the commotion, and explained, This could help cover the wound, and Ruscella should eat to stay strong. We all know how we felt more energetic after eating, so I think this could help here.

~~~~~
Malkan was amazed. After flying to an overhang so he could get a bird's-eye view of the immediate area, he began to think. Are there any sharp objects? No, not unless a hatchling is standing on one, and the bleeding wouldn't be so bad if it was still embedded. What about the water? No, can't be, fishes couldn't do this, could they? Malkan shuddered at the thought of a large fish attacking hatchlings. A word popped into his head: 'swordfish'. That would just be scary. Wait a second ... the word sword somehow sounds relevant. It makes me think of something something very sharp, and very clean. Hey! Isn't the cut straight and clean! That means that it couldn't be a rock or something like that! But where'd the 'sword' go? And what's that big blue berry? Malkan leaped down, and tried to explain what he had noticed. Hey! Can I say something? If you look closely, you can see that the cut isn't jagged like a tear, it's more clean and precise. The question is, what caused that? Also, how did Ruscella get here? I mean, I don't think she could swim if whe was this hurt ... something tells me this has something to do with it. Malkan pointed to the blue berry, which had a distinct bite-mark in it.
Alla gasped when she noticed the bleeding blue hatchling by the pool. She rushed forward, and pressed her paw over the leaves another hatchling had brought. When she closely examined the wound, she saw that it was clean and precise, like another hatchling had mentioned. She shifted her paws a bit, then got a little of the blood on them. Alla knew that she didn't like the red liquid. It made her dizzy, and she felt like fainting or collapsing like the other hatchling. When she felt the leaves were soaked, she switched them with a new pile.
Tike's eyes widened when he as well discovered the source of the sudden commotion. He panicked, unable to think of anything to do. When he cleared his head, Tike burst into the trees, and deposited the leaves and grass onto a pile on the ground, close to the hatchling. He dashed back to retrieve some more.
Darkness. Voices. The space she was in was small, cramped. She could barely move where ever she was. Her eyes slowly opened, seeing nothing but the darkness she was in. She moved and squirmed in her confined space, causing whatever she was stuck in to break as it fell to the side hard, cracking open. She squirmed even more, causing several more cracks to appear, letting the light inside the space she was in.
She peeked through the cracks, seeing more light. Feeling excited and eager, she growled and kicked as hard as she could, the egg that she had been in shattering in several pieces as she layed on the hard ground, pieces of her egg surrounding her. She carefully stood up, her legs a little shaky at first, but they held her up.
Happy to be out of her egg, she moved around, exploring her new surroundings, looking at all the unhatched eggs that were all huddled together closeby. She moved away from the eggs, heading out of the cave. She stopped when she was outside, stretching her small wings out.
"Wow...very pretty." she said, smiling.
The berries?!, Airean wondered. It was unlikely that the berry had to do with anything, but it seems there was no other possible way she could have gotten slashed. "The berry? I had one similiar to this one recently, except it wasn't as big.", said Airean, "But what I don't understand is how the berry is involved with the slash. Unless there's something more dangerous about it than we think..." Instead of smashing the berry, he took it under his wing to examine it with the other blue berries. Other than a size difference, they were identical. He then got fearful of the blue berries, realizing the dangerous ones might be in hiding with the rest. "For now, all the berries are under investigation, until this gets sorted out.", he said to the group. He then tried waking up the Tsunami with the brushing of his feathers around it's nose. He then heard it mumbling.
Estra looked up at the exiting Ferovan and nodded. "Yeah, sure. I'll try it," she told him as she leapt after him. She peered outside into the darkness, a little intimidated, but more intent on eating. She looked up at him and then looked back to the outside of the cave. "Let's g-go," she told him as she took her first steps outside.
Lance looked around and found everyone crowding around the water. He crawled over to take a look and saw a hatchling fainted in the water. "What happened?" he asked, surprised by what he saw.
Ooc; I'm assuming that Halith is a white hatchling
Bic;
Gystentia had followed the group over to the wounded hatchling when a small white hatchling healed Ruscella almost completely. The only thing left was a slight scar, but the poor thing collapsed. "Hey everyone! Didn't you see that? The new hatchling healed her!" She yelled as loud as she could, which was something close to just above a normal talking voice for the other hatchlings. She walked over beside the younger hatchling and gingerly rested her paws on her shoulder, shaking it gently. "Hey, you okay?" She asked it, hoping that it would respond.
~~~

Ferovan took off as quick as he could into the darkness, doing a combination between running and gliding until he reached the trees. The bright orb had left the sky and in it's place a paler orb that was cut in half. It made it so that it wasn't quite as dark because of it. He could just make out what had been orange, but now was in shades of black and white. He put one of his talons into it, using his beak to rip off part of the skin. "Taste it, if you like it then we can bring it back."

Alla applied some more pressure on the leaves. It seemed like the bleeding had slowed now. The injured dragon was stirring. She relaxed a bit, then hurried to a pile to get some more leaves, it they still needed it.

"We're not sure exactly what happened," she explained to a Royal Blue hatchling, answering his question. "We found this blue hatchling wounded by the pool. They might've been attacked by something."

As Alla came back with more supplies, she pondered about what exactly happened. Berries did not cause her, Ruscella, she believed was her name, to be injured, that's for sure. No other creature could make a gash so clean, without the help of a tool. A sword? The word appeared in her head. It was something sharp, pointy, dangerous.. and she did not know what type of creature would use such a thing.

"Could it be another creature that did this?" suggested Alla, while preparing leaves. "An unknown creature intelligent enough to use tools? It's unlikely, but the berry couldn't have caused the slash. Animals might not have, either."

Her head turned slightly to the left when she heard voices, curiosity getting the best of her as she followed the voices, being led to a group of hatchlings huddled around another hatchling that was injured. The little tri-horn quickly walked over to the hatchlings, wanting to see if the injured hatchling was okay. She moved around the others to get a good look, tilting her head as she watched one of the dragons putting leaves on the dragon where she was injured.

"Hey, what happened?" she asked, wanting to know. "Is she going to be okay?"

Lance listened to that hatchling's explanation and shook his head. "If it was another creature, wouldn't we have seen it? Wouldn't we have heard or smelt it? Unless someone saw, smelt or heard something the rest of us didn't?" He spoke loudly glancing around the crowd, watching for the others' responses.

Estra watched as Ferovan darted away in shock. She recoiled for a moment, but then lunged after him, "H-hey! Wait up!" She called out as her much smaller strides covered very little ground. As she ran, she saw him hover for a few moments, then return back to the ground. She gawked at the sight and tried to imitate his movements, but the frantic jerking of her arms was pointless. As he found a tree with the promised food, she waited at the base of the tree looking up innocently. "Hurry! It's kind of spooky out h-here..." she spoke her thoughts out loud as she glanced around. When he returned with the fruit, she licked at the fleshy insides and nibbled at it. It tasted funny, not like something she'd eat very often, but her it helped her hunger. "Yeah, this works. Thank you," she told him and picked up the fruit.

Halith blinked sleepily and opened her eyes. She saw the blurry outline of a small dragon standing on her shoulder, and exhaled sharply. Her head hurt--what had happened? Everything seemed to be spinning. The little White dragon shook her head in an attempt to clear it, but that only made her head hurt worse. She needed a drink of water, but how to ask the little dragon to get off her? "I ny-need wa-ter," she said quietly, her tongue stumbling over the new words.

~

Nylaeni watched the White Hatchling stumble around, mystified. She glanced at the older dragons, watching them rush around in various attempts to help the injured blue hatchling, and wished there was something she could do to help. The young Golden Wyvern noticed a silver-and-blue hatchling questioning some others, so she carefully made her way over to that group. She sat and listened intently. If there were any dangers, she wanted to know about them from other, older hatchlings.

Gystentia settled onto the ground, relieved that the white hatchling had woken up. "You're in luck, there's water right beside you." She replied, pointing towards the cave's spring that they were beside. The little pygmy slipped away from the white hatchling, it made her nervous to be in such a large group of hatchlings. She didn't want to be squished accidentally. She made her way over to the wall that was beside the water and drank quietly. The water was cool and soothing. With some effort she climbed the edge and rested on the top. It looked like their meeting was put off for a bit now.

~~~
Hearing Estra follow Ferovan felt a bit disappointed that she hadn't just waited, yet somewhat relieved that he wasn't venturing into the night alone. After she tasted it he looked around for another one, just in case the first one wasn't enough. He spotted one that was still on the ground from earlier and hopped towards it. "Let's go back" He agreed, sinking his beak down into it. He hopped back to Estra's side, looking around at the night world. It was interesting, but there was something about it that made his scales itch. Just wait till I'm bigger He thought, something inside him challenging the night. He dared not give it voice however. He waited until she began making her way back before he too moved towards the cave.
Airean looked around the cave to try and find any potential weapons that could've hurt the Tsunami hatchling. Other than a few stalactites in the cave, there were no other obvious signs about anything so sharp. If it were the stalactites that caused this, everyone is in danger... he wondered, But what if it was another dragon? But these hatchlings don't look dangerous, or that they would do such a thing. Unless it was a bigger dragon.... The thought chilled his spine and sparked cruel images in his mind.
Then who could've done it? Thought Alla. She did not follow the others back to the cave, but stayed where she was, trying to puzzle it out. Could another dragon's claws have made a cut so precise? Shee wasn't sure. She was glad that the white hatchling had healed the injured one. So much had happened the first day she was hatched. Alla had become tired, listening to all the talk about what did it and how it happened and all that. She followed the Pygmy hatchling to the water, and drank. It refreshed her, and tasted a little sweet. After a while, She glanced around and noticed the Pygmy resting on the edge.
"Hi," she said, because she felt like she should say something. It was only polite to, she thought. "It's been a peculiar first day, right?"
Tike placed the moss he brought on the ground when he saw that the hatchling had been magically healed. He listened on to the conversation about what had happened.
"But the slash was precise right?" suggested Tike, after organizing the bits of information he'd gotten. "It probably wasn't an accident. If it wasn't another creature, then how?"
Adrisea cleared her throat before speaking, "Er, hello everyone. My name is Adrisea and I have some information for you." The Thunder paused a moment to make sure she has everyone's attention before continuing, "It appears we have all been in a deep sleep for a very long time. I don't know why, or why we have woken up now, but I don't think that's important. What's important is what happens from now on."
"I have seen the surrounding area. We seem to be in a giant... crater of some sort. (sheer cliff like this) I have seen lots of forest, a jungle, mountains, plains, swampland, oceanline, desert, and even a giant volcano. This is our new home. There are no adult dragons here, so we are on our own. My idea was for us to stay here until we are a bit older (mature hatchling stage). Then, we can pick the area that is best suited for us. For example, if you are drawn to water, you might want to head towards the ocean. It is no more than a half day's journey from one end to the other, so we will always be close. Does anyone else have input?"
Hey! Malkan snapped. We have a crisis here, and you just want to talk and lead? Get down from there and help! This hatchling was hurt bad, a serious cut down the chest. We're lucky this White hatchling managed to heal her. Who knows what could have happened? After a moment of silence, Malkan realized that he may have been to harsh. Flying his way up to where Adrisea stood, he confided, sorry, that was out of line. I'm just wound up because we're trying to figure out what caused this. I think we're all feeling the pressure, and I just snapped. Again, sorry. Gliding back to the floor of the cave, Malkan returned to the conversation.
