Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) @Saloiq - Would you mind if I linked your super-handy rainbow-sort image in the first post? Nope, go ahead! I'm glad you think it'll be useful. That's what my initial thought was, unless there are other suggestion to how a rainbow stair works. I've already done one for blue colour that was planned to mate with the silver above, but since they produced nothing but electrics maybe I should find him another job. Maybe 4-8 blocks of these V's of different colours, and have them alternating from light->dark->light? What do you think? Ah, found the arrowhead that ended with horses. C: http://dragcave.net/lineage/1uNtK This is the most traditional rainbow arrowhead I think, but I like the color block idea better. ^^ Electrics are perfectly good! I'm not sure how well the alternating would work out because then the whole block would have to be clearly "dark" or "light" compared to the others. But for colors like green, most of the dragons are just somewhere in between dark and light. :< How are you planning to breed the blocks together? The first two together, and the third one to the 2nd one's baby so it'd be kind of like a stair? Or are you aiming for symmetry? If symmetry, then you'd have to have 6 or 8 blocks. @white/black/gray-scale I see rainbow lineages with blacks and whites as a real rainbow sandwiched by black and white. I think black and white along the lineage finishes the lineage more neatly than red and purple along the edges. Edited February 7, 2013 by Saloiq Share this post Link to post

I'm aiming for symmetry, so yes it'll be 4 or 8 blocks, and since I can only come up with 6 colours I'll do 4 blocks for now. That means I'll be breeding 4 blocks into two blocks then breed them together. What I meant by light-dark alternating was, if you look at my electric from the above post, it starts with skywing (a light blue) to Ice (a medium blue) to electric (a dark blue). I want to do something similar to all other colours. So each colour block will consistent of 3 breeds of different shades of that colour. I'll give you an example of one of the block plan I drew (sorry no pics). For yellow(?) block I start with whiptail (dark) with golden wyvern in the middle (medium) and finish with pillow (light). Does that make sense? I hope it'll work out as pretty as I imagined it. Edited February 7, 2013 by hat17 Share this post Link to post

Posted February 11, 2013 Took me a minute to dig this thread back up! Ok I've been working on this since I believe last spring... and I finally have the first half of my final mirror pair completed! Ok well she isn't complete, she's still an egg, but I have her! She will be paired with a mirrored white male whose grandparents are currently being super stubborn about producing any eggs, let alone a white egg... but I shall perservere!!! Posted February 13, 2013 @hat17 - Ah, I see. o: Electrics appear dark grey on my screen so I guess it threw me off a bit. Whiptail->Harvest->Pillow sounds good though! @Zero_Photofox - Nice rainbow! I like how you used Pinks. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 13, 2013 Yay, finally! This one took a bit more than a year (the 2nd gens are from December 2011). I'm so happy to finally bring the lines together. Ain't they pretty? Share this post Link to post

Posted March 12, 2013 This thread needs a bump. I've got the bottom half of my albino rainbow checker finished. Still waiting for a 3rd gen canopy for my 'green' and then I can work more on the upper half. I'm very pleased so far with how it's coming. :3 Share this post Link to post
Posted April 10, 2013 This is the bottom half of my gen 4 rainbow with silver shimmer lining: here. The top half is going to start with silver shimmer x speckle and then probably go harvest from sunstone (orangey-red) x harvest. Then I'll start working on the gen 5, which will require some more planning (but the speckle will really be ideal for). Share this post Link to post

Posted April 23, 2013 Oh I'm dying to share the progress on my rainbow lineage, but until a minute ago I have nothing but some broken bits and pieces here and there that you won't believe they have anything to do with a coherant lineage. But I'm finally getting somewhere! this is going to be another building block to my rainbow lineage, the yellow/brown block. The red and green blocks are getting there, then I can combine those blocks together and I HOPE it'll form something nice. (It's so hard to breed lineage projects when you're aiming for a certain breed... My nebs refused to turn green; my red x pink only gave me reds not pinks; pillow x GW for some reason gave me only GW for a few weeks... *sigh* Story of all lineage-makers, eh? ^^") Share this post Link to post
Posted April 23, 2013 I seriously love your building block pattern. I'll need to borrow it at some point. And I'm really curious how the shape comes out in 5th and 6th gens... Share this post Link to post

After some effort, I finally bred a replacement for one of the Blacks in my double-rainbow mirror, after the last pair rudely refused to have anything to do with each other. For my rainbow of DOOM, I now have 11 of 16 4th gen colour-blocks bred (plus one compatible pair of Skywings who need to give me an egg). And with the release of the Royal Crimsons, I can finally get on and finish my red blocks too! *celebrates* Share this post Link to post
Posted April 23, 2013 Thank you thank you~ I'm falling in love with these blocks myself too. Too bad I can only manage to think up 6 'colour' blocks which just won't work (red, orange/yellow, green, blue, purple, black/white)... If I can think up another 2 I can extend it one more gen... Oh and I got my neb to turn green! Wheeeeee~ So here's the green block~ *dances with excitement* Share this post Link to post

Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) I'm not sure if this counts as rainbow-themed, for the colours may be not entirely correct (wasn't sure where to place the black), but I thought somebody here might appreciate it nonetheless. Stripe stair Believe it or not, it took me 39 bredings (43 weeks) to get these 6 generations. And now I'd like to see the offspring with someone who continues the lineage by circulating through the colours once more. So, if you like it, grab it. Your turn ! Edit: Gone already. That was fast ! Greetings, Lantean_Pegasus I'm not usually much of a one for step lineages but I really couldn't resist this cutie! Now to decide if I'll breed an arrow mate or make the stair longer. Or both, could do both... Share this post Link to post
Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) @Amazon_warrior: I prefer even gens or more complicated lineages, too, but the Stripes with their colour-by-other-parent begged for an exception. Plus, back then (when I got my first CB Stripe) I thought that this way I'd have at least one lineage that would be done in a short amount of time. Yes. Well. Not so much. I'm glad you like it, and yes, please, do both ! I influenced this little girl female so she could be bred on, and I'm planning on doing an arrow, too. Although I'm still debating if I use the same breeds for the CBs, or other ones with similar colours... For this stair I used the CBs from each colour that I like the most (and love in general - only the Sunstone was a choice of necessity, I have no CB Heartseeker and neither the Sunstones nor Reds and Balloons really catch my fancy), and I discovered that they are all rather muted (hope this is the right word) colours, so one way would be to take brightly coloured dragons for the lower half. Hm. Still pondering. I should start soon, though, knowing now that it will take about 10 months again... Thank you for taking the little one in and taking care of her ! Greetings, Lantean_Pegasus PS: The Stripes are all named with Ancient Greek or Latin words for their respective colours, the names of the CBs are all Ancient Greek.
