Posted January 9, 2013 If this topic has already been started, could you redirect me? As the title says, do you breed your dragons with only one other one? I do this all the time, and as you may have noticed on my scroll I list all the dragons in their pairs, because I don't like inbreeding a lot. Keep an eye on the AP for Sunsong or Waterhorse eggs, because these might be Dorkwed eggs. I am currently breeding a Dorkface with a Thuwed. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 31, 2013 I do with some of my dragons: like my Turpentines and my Royal Blue and Yulebuck haven't failed to produce an egg yet (not that I breed that often) Share this post Link to post
Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) All my dragons except for ones in my inbred lineage project and one of my LGBT dragons are monogamous (my LGBT I included in there because her description also mentions her same sex mate though the action does not exist). I find monogamous breeding makes it harder for me to do lineage projects, but it also allows me to be extra careful so I don't inbred a dragon who is not going to be inbred. There are a few mistakes on my scroll, one is mentioned in a description the other I have yet to describe. ps Dorsaldragon10 I love your avatar Edited January 31, 2013 by brairtrainer Share this post Link to post
Posted October 30, 2013 Some of my dragons I only breed with one other, but some I'm just like, "Nah, too boring to find a specific match." and then just click whichever dragon might make a pretty lineage with it. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2013 Moving to SD as this seems more a discussion topic rather than a breeding/lineage topic. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2013 Most of the time I can't be bothered choosing specific lifelong mates for my dragons, although a select few have only had a single mate. I've planned several lineages with dragons that I find difficult or unreliable to catch, thus having monogamous pairs is a luxury I can't afford to have lest I spend an age nabbing enough dragons to fulfill that wish. I've yet to inbreed a dragon by accident, as my inbred dragons are either Vampires or labelled as such to reduce the risk of unintentionally ruining a lineage. It is something I would like to do for future breeding projects, however that would require that I choose to breed more common species, so not to find difficulty in catching the required pairs. Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) I life mate all my dragons. Well, with the exception of my shadow walkers which have a sort of free for all thing going on Oh and my male guardian Zalequinn because he is a possesive little so and so. The only thing is, as I get closer to completing my scroll goals, I realise that once I start getting involved with lineages this is going to cause a few problems. So I think I may have to have two caves/sections to my scroll - one my main life-mated cave, and my other free love lineage breeding cave. Goodness know what the heck I'm going to do about rares though. I've only got one CB rare (a silver) and no idea how I am going to get 4+ of them (2 for a PB life-mated pair, at least 2 in the lineage part). But these are technicalities that are currently far off in the distant future Edited October 31, 2013 by Prince_Xanthius Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2013 For many of my dragons, they have permanent mates. Some, like Holidays, I switch around their mates each year to breed and drop different lineages. C: Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2013 My dragons go with anything and everything ^^ Although I do have mates for some, simply because they make prettiness and aren't 'lifemates' Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2013 It depends on the lineage I'm making, but usually I don't choose mates for life. http://dragcave.net/progeny/ngpEg This is an exception. Both terribly messy and inbred, but I don't breed these dragons with anything else. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) Na - I don't do that. If I find a pairing nice, I'll try it out no matter if the dragons have bred with others before. I have some who are monogamous by circumstances, because I only have so many EG8 dragons, but I'd have no qualms whatsoever to switch them up if someone asked for a baby with a different mate. Posted October 31, 2013 Oh always I mean, there's a few who have changed as I found them better mates, and a few that are rare enough to breed differently if someone has a special request... but for 98% of the dragons, no. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 31, 2013 My dragons generally have several mates, but there are exceptions. Anything that I've had to hunt a mate for stays with the one mate, and sometimes I have CB dragons that after I raise and breed them once, I don't breed them to anything else after that just because it seems weird to me. Posted October 31, 2013 Some of them are. There are others that I consider monogamous "story wise" but really breed to a variety of things simply because they're rare and I don't want to limit their uses. I usually justify those cases by saying they just helped another dragon "adopt" a baby or whatever. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 1, 2013 Some of mine are, but it's not like I that pairing is set in stone. If I find another dragon that works just as well or better I'll breed it with that dragon. Though my dragons rarely have eggs from more than three mates; the one exception being my CB Silver who I keep throwing mates at in attempt to get him to give me a Silver. Posted November 1, 2013 Most of my dragon pairs are monogamous, a few for story reasons, but mostly because I don't want to deal with refusals if I don't need to. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 1, 2013 Some yes, some no. Some are based on RP chars of mine, so no because they have multiple partners in the RP. Others only have set mates because I like them that way. So take your pick. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 1, 2013 The only dragons of mine that are monogamous are those that were bred for a lineage project, so of course they were intended to be with a particular mate. But other than that, no one has particular partners. Share this post Link to post
