"Oh! You're invisible," Aqua said. He quickly lifted the boot of the containment suit up to the previous step. "My apologies."

Talon turned to look at the newcommer, and his eyes widened in supprise.

"Well well, would you look at what we have here," the cyborg mused, "this thing practically makes us look normal, eh Nova? It's not every day you see a walking fish tank"

"Fish tank?" Aqua replied, "I'm not a fish tank."

Nova immediately swung his tail around, and grabbed it with both hands, rubbing at the parts which had been stepped on. He wasn't listening properly to Talon's comments, being too preoccupied with making sure that his tail was still intact and fully functional.

"Yeah... yeah... fish tank..." he said, pretending that he had listened properly"wait what...?" Nova turn his head around and was greeted by the sight of the containment unit's knee's, due to his diminutive size, the fact that he was sitting down and that Aqua was on a higher stair meant that he didn't really come close to Aqua's height.

"Woaahh.." he murmered, transfixed on the sight before him. He had completely forgotten about his tail and was staring intently at the walking fish tank. Without asking for permission Nova began to climb up onto Aqua, until he was on top of him. "I can't see any fishes.." he moaned.

Aqua did not expect the sudden change in balance presenter by Nova's weight. He started to tip forward, then back. "Wai- wha-?" the elemental managed to say, before falling back and hitting the stairs. The containment suit rang like a low bell with the impact.

"Look at it," Talon laughed, "the thing can't even keep its balance." The cyborg looked over to where Nova used to be, not realizing that the alien hybrid had moved.

"Sorry," Aqua replied, "I'm still getting used to this suit."

"Well, let me help you up" Talon snickered.

The cyborg extended his hand, and a white energy pealed off the metal. The energy collected into a vaguely hand-like shape, then shot into the joints of the containment suit.

Aqua felt the suit start to move without him. It stood itself up, overshot, and started to fall foreward.

"Whoops" said Talon sarcastically. He pulled his hand back as if grabbing the reins of a horse, and the containment suit stopped at a precarious angle. "Wow, now it's perfectly balanced," he noted, "Id hate it if a butterfly flew by." although, givven his tone of voice, clearly Talon would think that to be hilarious.

((Stuff it. I'm posting.))

Abel smiled down at Mist when she expressed her views of Conel. He couldn't blame her for her opinions. Conel often came across as so sombre and intimidating that it disturbed many new students. While he wasn't quite as bad once you got to know him, there were times when people were reminded why he was not to be taken lightly.

"It's okay" he whispered down to her. "As long as you don't misbehave he's pretty fair. I don't really peg you for a trouble maker."

At that point a loud but deep sound rang out, emitting from the main hallway. Several students turned to look, but as the doors were closed no one could see anything. Abel's brow wrinkled. What had caused that?

"Eyah."

Abel started when the black butterfly crept out of his ear, the opposite one from which it had entered. While it winged it's way through the air quite happily Abel put both hands over his ears and laid his head on the table in front of him in discomfort. He would never, ever, get used to that.

((You just never mentioned it. I thought they were standing off to the side. xd.png Which is why she rose up on her tiptoes and stuff...))

Mist nodded slightly, not entirely convinced. She tended to annoy people when she refused to do things (violent actions with her powers, from her dad being curious about her powers), or when she became upset from simple things. And she tended to burst into tears when others would simply let it slide off their shoulders. She jumped when she saw the strange black butterfly fluttering about, Abel's head on the table. What? Had it done something to him? She gave it a slight frown, which was her version of a glare, before giving him a shy poke on the arm. "Are you okay?" she whispered, eyebrows raised slightly in yet more worry. It seemed he was in pain. Actually, he may not be able to hear her with his hands over his ears.

Nova shut his eyes and gripped tightly onto the frame of Aqua's suit as he began to sway back and forth. He couldn't help but feel somewhat seasick as he watched the swaying of Aqua's liquefied form in the suit. When Aqua began to fall backwards he leaped off the suit and landed on the banister rail, using his arms and feet to grip onto it so that he didn't fall onto the floor below.

From his perch on the banister he watched as Talon used his abilities to restore Aqua to a standing position.

"Wow, now it's perfectly balanced"...."Id hate it if a butterfly flew by."

Talon's comment lit a light bulb in Nova's mind, he recalled the actions of several of his favorite cartoon characters from the cartoons he watched back at the government lab and came up with a somewhat mischievous thought. Using his tail, he snaked it around Talon's head and prodded the containment suit with it, wondering it he would tip over once again, Nova could barely contain his laughter as he did so, covering his mouth with 1 hand"

Aqua felt the containment suit start to tip over once more, but this time, the elemental was prepared. There was a a hiss and a clank, and the valve on the containment suit's chest opened up. Aqua sent a tendril of water out, and braced himself against the stairs. However the suit, with most of his mass still inside, was still too heavy, and continued to fall. Aqua waited while tension built up in the supporting tendril. When the suit was nearly horizontal, he pushed, using the suit's own momentun to propell himself foreward. Aqua landed on the ground floor in a crouching position to minimise the force of impact. He then pulled the tendril of water back into the suit, and shut the valve.

"And with minimal mass lost too," he noted.

"Impresive," Talon replied dryly. The cyborg then looked at the puddle left on the stairs. "Anybody got a mop?"

Marik stopped what he was doing as he heard Garth warn about Dr Conel. He attempted to help Garth as he seemingly wobbled for a second, but stopped midway as he saw that the boy managed to steady himself. He walked up behind Garth, half hoping that they took the normal way down, he had had enough 'falling' for one day.

As he stood behind Garth, he watched as the boy used what seemed to be another of his powers, a shadowy tentacle extended from the ground and opened the door. It was unusual, for Marik at least; to see someone use their powers so freely having been not allowed to do so when at home. He glanced down at his hand momentarily, he knew that in the near future he would learn how to fully control his abilities while at this school.

Garth's shadow-tentacle held the door open for the other boy for a second as its creator walked quickly down the corridor, before sneaking back into the darkness whence it came and vanishing entirely. This, unlike taking the two of them into the Shadow-World, didn't seem to drain much of the Umbramancer's energy at all- then again, he had been doing it a lot longer than he had accessing the other world, so he was much more practiced at it. It was almost second nature to him now, like using the limbs he and everyone else was born with.

Passing the little group at the top of the stairs, and not seeming to bat an eye at the high amount of oddness in the area, Garth paused for a second. "Are you guys going to the Dining Hall? Dr Conel's speech is gonna start... Well, now. I'd hate for you to get into trouble on the first day of a new intake." he said, concern colouring his voice. Would he have enough energy to move them all, after moving Marik had put him out of breath? Fainting in the middle of the Hall would disturb the speech much more than merely subtly Blending into an empty seat near the back would. Having warned them he moved on, Blending halfway into the shadow of the bannisters before a thought occurred to him; he looked quite odd, half his body visible and half absorbed into the darkness. "If Marik- this other guy- comes, tell him I went ahead, alright?" he said, vanishing completely a second later with a 'shlup' sound.

In the Hall Dr Conel stood up, taking a small pile of assorted objects out of his lab-coat pocket as he did so, and what little noise there was in the Hall died down to silence. He pretended not to see the sudden appearance of one of his students in a seat in the corner, recognising Garth Hawdorne's appalling lumberjack shirt in a second. One day I will have to buy that boy some better clothes, not ones fit for a tramp... he thought, a flicker of disgust momentarily crossing his serious expression. Looking across the packed Hall, the Headmaster cleared his throat and prepared to speak.

((Whoo, now I gotta write a whole speech for him to say... Fun. 6__9))

Nova watched as Aqua performed his maneuver and began clapping and laughing standing up on the diagonally angled banister. As he did so, his tail began to occasionally swoosh across Talon, hitting him or not Nova was too busy to notice. "Again! One more time!" he shouted from his perch as he looked down at Aqua.

As he did so, Garth entered the area, causing Nova to stop what he was doing and turn around. Unlike with Talon and Aqua, Garth's appearance caused Nova some slight discomfort, just his face alone was enough to send shivers down Nova's spine, mainly due to those shark light teeth of his, not to mention his rather dark powers which Nova had seen glimpses off during his excursions around the school. Being near Garth made Nova feel like prey and he didn't like that. He stood there holding his breath and being sure not to make a sound as he waited for Garth to leave.

Marik exited the room after Garth had opened it, however stopped just after exiting the room to rub his shoulder which had been under some discomfort due to the weight of his bag. "So what else can you tell me about this Dr Conel?" he asked, turning a corner. However he froze as he realized that there was nobody there. "I could have sworn he went this way..." he thought to himself, turning around to check the other corridor. However he caught no sight of the guy. "Weird..." he mumbled to himself, as he headed towards a flight of stairs.

Walking down, he noticed two rather odd looking figures. At first he thought the figure standing on the stairs was some kind of mechanic statue or a battle simulator which would be used in that combat and survival lesson he had read about. He walked up to it and began examining the mechanical figure."This thing looks like it can handle quite a bit of damage.." he muttered to himself, inspecting it. As he did so, he looked down at the Suit full of water and wandered what that contraption was used for.

Nova glared at the newcomer, he had not seen this person before and was therefore intrigued yet wary of him.

Talon didn't take kindly to having his head batted by Nova's tail, even if the Aliean didn't realise what he was doing. By the third hit, the cyborg's arm shot up, grabbed the offending limb, and squeezed the same spot where Aqua had stepped on it, before letting go again grinning smugly.

However, Talon's smug expression didn't last long.

"Are you guys going to the Dining Hall? Dr Conel's speech is gonna start... Well, now. I'd hate for you to get into trouble on the first day of a new intake."

Talon silently cursed himself for allowing someone to sneak up on him. He turned to see Garth walking by, then shadowblend into the banisters.

"Teacher's pet." he hissed once the umbramancer had gone.

"This thing looks like it can handle quite a bit of damage.."

Talon froze again. Somone else had snuck up on him!

"This thing can hear you," Talon growled in response, "and does not appreciate being examined like a museaum piece!"

Talon turned around again, bur this time his hood fell back, showing his face.

Taya walked around greeting some other students, she was starting to feel slightly out of place not quite sure what to do when some of the students fell silent. She looked in the direction everyone was looking and notice a man walking to the front of the room.

He must be the headmaster or something she thought watching along with the others. Taya looked around and saw several of the other students taking in their seats. Looking around she found an open seat herself and quickly went to sit, smiling shyly at the people around her.

Dias stood in the room with nerves about to break as he saw the amount of students. Little sparks ran every now and then over his body. As some students bumped into him they got shocked giving him angry looks.

The boy quickly took in a seat away from others so that he didn’t harm, he still has so much to learn. Dias looked up at the man who entered the room and his mind got rid of the nerves leaving him wondering who he was and what was he going to say.

Nova let out a gasp as he felt his tail get grabbed suddenly. But soon covered his mouth, nullifying the sound so as to not draw attention to himself as he stood there silent, he watched as the new guy was caught off guard by Talon and during his moment of shock accidentally activating his own power.

Marik jumped back as the mechanical humanoid suddenly started to talk, causing him to jump back and push his back up against the wall. As he did so, his right hand landed on a piece of tapestry draped along the wall, instantly turning the material into sand which fell to the right side of Marik, couting his right arm and the floor in sand.

"S... sorry.." he said, averting his gaze from the android. "I.. I.. had no.. idea.." he muttered, still shocked.

Unseen to the naked eye, Nova was struggling to contain his laughter.

Talons eyes narrowed when he saw the newcommer's power in action. "Listen up," the cyborg said menacingly, "I don't like you so stay out of my way. I am an expreimental weapon gone horribly wrong, and I have been known to 'malfunction' on occaision, so just keep to yourself. Got it?"Without waiting for an answer, Talon pulled up his hood, vaulted the banister, and proceded to drag Aqua's containment suit by the elbow to the great hall.

"I guess it's almost time for the speech." Aqua said in response.

What talon didn't mention was that the student's power unnerved Talon, as the student could potentally destroy Talon's arms with one touch. This was why, despite the risk of a short circut, Talon was sticking by Aqua for now.

Marik couldn't help but gulp. Without a doubt, the cyborg intimidated him, his appearance alone enough to do so. He slumped down against the wall as he tried to calm himself from the shock.

Nova had to dodge Talon, as the cyborg vaulted the banister, in the process almost colliding into him. "WATCH IT" he shouted downwards at the cyborg, who had began to pick up Aqua. Marik turned his head to where he heard the voice but saw nothing... "Cyborgs... and now ghosts?.." he muttered to himself, looking around for the source. As he did so he was slowly pushing himself up against the wall, ready to bolt and head into the dining hall.

"Boo!" shouted Nova, jumping in front of Marik, and revealing himself momentarily, but soon disappearing again in a matter of seconds.. The sudden appearance causing Marik to run down the stairs and burst into the dining hall.

As he entered, he stood frozen. The sight of so many other students, all with their own abilities. This sense of normality swept over Marik, removing thoughts about ghost's and stuff. For the first time, Marik felt like he belonged.

Nova on the other hand couldn't contain himself anymore, he had fallen to the floor, his hands by his side as he rolled down the stairs in a fit of laughter. He just could not stop himself from freaking out the new guy

'Curiouser and curiouser,' Kez thought to himself as he slipped around the edge of the entrance hall he'd found himself behind a conveniently-large potted plant, noting the little scene playing out near the stairwell. He'd kept well back out of sight from the small group - a suit that had shot out a tendril of water that simultaneously reminded him of The Abyss and made him shiver; what smelled like slowly-decaying flesh and mechanical contraptions that somehow made a grey-faced, scarred young boy; a creature that looked like a Maian from Perfect Dark had decided to train as a warrior; and a considerably normal-looking blonde young man. Having backed off and kept an ear on the little drama Kez had back-tracked a little, trying to find another way to the tantalising smells of the kitchen.

Sadly it seemed the only way to reach the kitchen was either to sneak through the dining hall or try and find an external entrance/exit, which he wasn't overly keen on wasting time doing. However he was in a difficult position; while he could pass as a large house-cat at a quick glance, anyone who took the time to actually look at Kez would notice his much thicker build than the standard house-cat. Hiding behind the plant Kez watched as students of different genders, ages, and shapes in some cases made their way into the dining hall. It was going to be impossible at this rate to follow his nose to the kitchen, and he started debating just leaving the building the moment everyone was inside the hall.

From his seat at the back, Garth groaned in sympathy and facepalmed.

Dr Conel- interrupted just as he was about to speak- speared Marik with a glance that, if looks could kill, would have left the newcomer dead or at least severely injured. The German doctor seemed too angry to speak for a few moments and, in the silence of the Hall, the 'crack' of his glass of water seemingly spontaneously exploding was even louder than it would have been normally; the air around him seemed to writhe like a nest of semi-transparent snakes, though any Home resident would realise it was just the Headmaster momentarily losing control of telekinetic abilities through sheer emotion. However, the noise also brought Conel back to the present, and he gave the wet mess another glare before addressing Marik.

"Well, danke for gracing us with your presence at last. I'm sure you had lots of important events in your social calendar, which makes your noble effort to turn up here even more touching..." he said, his voice as cold as ice and dripping with sarcasm; turning up late was one thing, but turning up late and distracting everybody from him was another. "Now if you could sit down and allow me to continue? Good."

Dismissing Marick from his mind with a mere flick of his thoughts, Conel turned back to the rest of the pupils. Clearing his throat, he began his annual 'welcome' speech, wishing inside that he could just talk to them in German and have done with it. "What I am about to say is directed mostly as those who have just arrived; the ones who have been here since last year- or longer- do not have to listen, though a refresher of the Home's rules will come in handy to many..." He seemed to look at a select few students as he said this- "Now, I address our newest students. As most of you would have realised by now, I am Dr Wayland Conel, the Headmaster of this school. And I hope you have also realised that I have... certain expectations of behaviour from you. Though many of you might have harsh histories and dark pasts, that will not be accepted as an excuse to misbehave and disobey the staff here. I am not the police, the staff are not your parents; lashing out at them on the basis of some past injustice will be punished as harshly as a baseless attack. This is a new start, for all of you- no matter what has occurred in your pasts. From now on, you are different people... No student at the Home is unequal to the other in my eyes, none are favoured above the rest."

Pausing for a breath, Conel mopped water off one of his cards with the end of one sleeve. "That being said, do not assume that you have been taken to some Dickensian boarding school of old or a prison under any other name... The core tenant of this school is, and has always been, learning and the successful exploration of the powers that you have been blessed with. Yes, blessed. Not cursed, not burdened with, but blessed; each and every one of you has been given gifts that any normal human can hardly imagine. We are of the breed that once were worshipped as gods in the ancient lands and it is my goal to teach you how to live up to that impressive past. To explore your potential and push the your abilities to their very limits. Not just to survive and fit in with your average, monochrome society but to thrive. While the world may not accept our kind as yet, one day they will and you will be ready... However, the road to this end will not be smooth and easy. Some of you may fall, as people fall every day of every year. Some of you (despite what I said earlier) are destined to be greater than your fellows. There is no shame in that. We all have a place in the world and, unfortunately, not all of us can be at the top of the pyramid, so to speak. Even then, remember this- as harsh the road ahead will be, you are no longer walking it alone.

So, to sum up what I have just said: now is the start of your new life, with your new family. With me. Or, in my native language: Jetzt ist der Beginn ihres neuen Lebens mit ihrer neuen Familie. Mit mir... Willkommen in der Hölle, Kinder."

With that he raised what looked like an ordinary television remote control, pressing a button; suddenly there was a flicker of blue lights across all of the tables and, when it had stopped, each surface was covered in plates of breakfast food of all descriptions, a plate in front of each student and teacher. Dr Conel wasn't even trying not to beam in pride at the confused reactions to the teleporting food, not regretted a second of the many hours it'd taken him to set that trick up. Sitting down he filled his own plate with food, shamelessly stealing the glass of the teacher sitting next to him. That and the speech were typical Conel behaviour- genius but arrogant, and showing flashes of... something else, under the surface. Not to mention riddled with deceit.

Mist squeaked softly and jumped as the glass of water broke, heart beating wildly in her chest. That had given her the most terrible fright, combined with the intimidating prescence of Dr Conel. The sarcasm was quite scary as well. The man just seemed generally frightening. She listened to his welcoming speech with slight dread as to whether he would pick out anyone else. As he spoke, she mused on the glass breaking. Her first thought was that maybe he controlled water like her. But it hadn't looked like it; he would have taken the water from the floor. No, it was something else. Her fingers twisted around themselves a little anxiously, .her heart slowing. He spoke very seriously. Oh, and it turned out that he was German. Hadn't guessed that from the name. It didn't sound typically German to her ears. When he finished, she breathed a s off sigh of relief. The speech had gone on without any more scares. Good. Her eyes widened quite a bit as food suddenly rose up from the tables; what? This was like Harry Potter! She smiled slightly. Harry Potter was a comforting thought in all of this. Except the man sitting at the table wasn't exactly Dumbledore. She took in all the food, not knowing what to choose or what to do. The other students seemed to just be grabbing stuff and putting it on their plates. She shyly looked across to Abel. She could take example from him.

Abel had sat very still and attentive throughout Conel's speech, although he did internally groan when Conel's eyes rested on him for the briefest of moments when he mentioned the school's rules. Yes, he had been responsible for a small amount of trouble in the past three years, in a roundabout way, but despite all his efforts he just couldn't get the demon to understand, or even care, that he couldn't just do as he pleased. He didn't believe he ever would either, demons thinking in ways very different to humans. At least nobody had been found skewered to the ceiling lately.

When the spech ended and the plates of food appeared Abel looked down at them. His appetite had somewhat shrunk in the past few years, not that he had ever been a large eater. However he hadn't eaten anything since breakfast the day before, so unless he wanted to pass out and get in to trouble for cluttering up the hallways he had better try eating something.

Glancing at the still somewhat nervous Mist and smiling in encouragement he dished himself out some mashed potato, a couple of sausages and some brocoli. Picking up a fork he began to dig in with a modest amount of gusto.

Kez had waited until the children - students? - had assembled in the mess-hall and left him alone before making his soft-pawed way across the entrance hall, but as the male voice began he paused and padded over to the door-frame, keeping low and out of sight as he listened to a familiar accent, the sound of a German with well-practised English. Although the mere sound of a strong, dominant male voice caused his fur to raise and claws to grip the floor, he took deep feline breaths and listened intently, ears pricked high.

It sounded like a school indeed, one for people like Kez, but his current trepidation, his fight-or-flight, was still in action while his human mind was taking a gentile back seat to the tiger's instincts. Right now the instinct was to get food and leave.

"Jetzt ist der Beginn ihres neuen Lebens mit ihrer neuen Familie. Mit mir... Willkommen in der Hölle, Kinder."

As those words were spoken Kez held his breath, his heart speeding up as his mind automatically translated those last five words.

'Welcome to Hell, children.'

Food entirely forgotten about, Kez bolted for the main door and briefly took human-form just long enough to open it. The moment it was ajar he shifted and returned to his full adult-form and took off across the grass to the forest he had sheltered in that night.

Today had not started out well, but that was to be expected. It wasn't that she didn't like children, and certainly not that she wasn't looking forward to meeting the incoming students, but the preparation for everything to start was more than tiresome, and Quenna was guilty of continuously pushing things off, including get all of her classes organized, which left her doing them until the wee hours of the morning. As a result, she was drained before she even had entered the dining hall, and she still had yet to face the swarm of students that would undoubtedly flood the area, not to mention that she still had to face Dr. Conel himself, and quite frankly, Quenna hadn't been sure which she was more hesitant to do. She had just hoped that this flood of newcomers would be a quiet, gentle one with powers that might be, say, the ability to cure headaches. That would be nice, and she had thought she might just be able to work with that.

She sluggishly dragged herself towards the dining hall, almost as droopy-eyed as the students sitting beside her, and it was only out of self-respect that she was able to pull her shoulders back, stop slouching, and widen her eyes to make it seem as if she were alert. Her heels clacked slowly across the floor as she opened the doors and looked toward where she might be sitting, and found the only spot open was the one to Conel's left. 'Not today,' she couldn't help but think, hoping that the headmaster wouldn't notice how weary she was. That wouldn't even be a marginally good way to start all of this off, and the more alert she looked, the better. Quenna held her hands together in front of her body, and slowly dug her thumbnail into the palm of the opposing hand, trying to wake herself up, and found that so long as she continued to increase the pressure, this seemed to work well enough. Quite honestly, she was disappointed in herself; she usually only procrastinated on things that weren't related to her job, and this time she had let that slip, too. Well, at least the work was done, and she had even glanced over the binder she had been given that contained a bit of information on the newer children, though she hadn't seemed to retain that information, as she couldn't even recall anyone at the moment.

Quenna slipped into her chair just before Conel started speaking, and she prayed to herself that he hand't noticed. Surely he'd understand that she'd been busy, right? Perhaps not, but she just hoped that he'd not hate her for being late. While he spoke, she droned out his words and scanned the crowd of students, looking with cold eyes at the faces that she eventually would be teaching, and smiling or frowning slightly at the students that she recognized in the crowd. As the speech finished, the tables glowed and food rose up. 'Thank goodness that there's something to wake me up. A nice, cool glass of water will be perfect,' she thought to herself, taking a refreshing glass, only to have it taken from her by Conel. Oh dear, he really does hate me, then. I wonder how all of this will play out. Clearing her throat, she looked up at him, not to ask him to give her back her drink, but rather to engage him in small talk.

"So, Conel, what do you think of this batch? I would say we have quite a few intriguing members in this crowd, wouldn't you?"

~~~~
The other Quenna had slept well, that way at least one of them would be awake. There were pros and cons to which Quenna should go where, but the tired one went to sit in the dining hall while the awake one observed students and made sure all was in order. After all, if one of them had to chase down some kid, it'd better be the wide-awake one, no? Not that she expected anything much to happen. So far she had just come in time to see the end of some sort of fight or another, but it had resolved itself and she saw no reason to run after the students involved, for it was basically the first day for many students here, and it'd probably be best for them to work out their differences for now. Most of this job was just wandering a few halls, Quenna was beginning to wonder if her more tired body should've come in here, leaving her awake self to talk to Conel.
As she saw something out of the corner of her eye, the teacher turned around and scanned the room, finally resting her eyes on a small whitish being by the doorway to the dining hall. Something had startled it and before she could get a good look at what it was, it had dove toward the door, turned into a human, and raced out into the night. Quenna did not hesitate as she bolted after it, tossing the door open behind her and keeping her eyes on the small white figure ahead of her. As she stared at it, she realized what it was; the creature was a tiger cub, and a white one at that. A shifter, and not one that was in her files, if she remembered correctly. Pausing for a moment, she stopped herself and shook her head. She was going about this the wrong way; one does not chase after a cat to pet it, but one lets it come to them. Kneeling down, she sat and watched as the creature neared the edge of the force field.
"You shouldn't run away, you know. We are here to help, and you'll fit right in here. I know what you are, and I do not mean you any harm whatsoever. If nothing else, come talk to me, because I can help you, truly I can."
~~~~~

Quenna glanced up at Conel and shook her head, sighing. "Conel, I only glanced over the students' files, but I don't think I got one for a white tiger shape-shifter. Is he a student? If not, he just ran off towards our perimeter. I pursued, of course, but I am hoping to coax him in here. Something startled him, and I'm not quite sure what," she said in hushed tones, her eyes flicking from him to the doors leading from the dining hall, and then turning them back to Conel. Taking a cup of coffee, she sipped it and stared at the headmaster, her expression curious, for she honestly had no idea how he would take the information. More than likely, he'd just tell her that yes, he was a student and that he just had some screwed up life that made him afraid of crowds. Yes, that'd make sense. She just hoped he'd give her a straight answer.

Marik slowly turned his head towards the front of the room as he felt the icy stare of Conel focused upon him. Cold sweat began to form across his bow and he gulped, his legs would not obey his command to move, as he stood there practically petrified. He flinched as he heard the crack of the glass. As Conel spoke, it felt as if knives were being driven into his flesh, their touch stinging at his flesh and sending sshivers down his spine.

Marik couldn't help but notice that most of the students had begun to look at him, a couple of them with grins on their face, at the sight of one of the newbies being in trouble on Day 1.

"S..sorry.." spoke Marik, bowing his head as Conel finished speaking to him. Finally freed from that petrified state, he slunk over to the nearest available seat and sat down. "In trouble on day one..." he thought to himself...

Nova stopped laughing, his focus now centered around some white and black striped fuzz ball stalking across the room. "Did Conel get a pet cat?" Nova asked rhetorically, as he watched the figure make its way to the dining hall. He was just about to get up and chase it, when he saw movement across the room. He turned and saw that it was one of the teachers, Quenna to be precise.

At the sight of her, Nova began to edge backwards slightly. To put it simply, Nova was not too fond of the woman, not because of her attitude or her appearance of anything but due to one of her powers. She could just as easily turn off Nova's ability if she so pleased and Nova could not help but feel frightened at the thought of having to show everybody what he looked like and being unable to hide

Nova eventually managed to make his way to a corner of the room, where he stayed in silence. She seemed to have only noticed the cat in the room, good news for Nova. The cat began to head towards the main door, but as it made its way there itws form changed to that of a human, albeit momentarily. Nova would have never guessed that it was a shifter.

As Quenna gave chase after the Shifter, Nova moved out of the corner. If he was lucky, he could sneak into the dining hall and leave with a plate of food before she returned.

Once the speech was over, Talon quietly left the dining hall, leaving Aqua behind. Hell indeed, he thought to himself, A prison by any other name, for sins against nature, to lock away the cursed and the damned. He quickly went out the front door and headded for the woods. A ways in, there was a small clearing that talon had made during his first year. He had been punished for removing the trees there, but he didn't care. He needed a place other than his room to retreat to, to beable to think without the racket of constant voices. after a short while, Talon eventually reached the clearing, and sat on a stump. The cyborg looked at his hand, clanched into a metal fist. Nothing about me is natural, he thought to himself.

Talon sighed, and slowly closed his eyes.

FLASH!

Scraeming, cries begging him to stop.

"What are you doing!? Stop! We created you! WE CREAT-gakc...."

Movement so fast it was a blur, twin arcs of white light that trailed red.Talon's eyas snapped open, and he grimaced in pain.

But the memories continued.

The room was now dark, bodies lay on the floor in a pool of blood, but there were more Targets in the next room over, three flashes of light, there was now a hole in the wall.

Screams of terror, cut short to death rattles.

The air stank of iron and salt, of blood.

Memory circut malfunction, rerouting power.

The images faded. Talon was laying on the ground.

He arefully picked himself up, then sat back on the stump.

It's becomming more frequent, he thought to himself.

Nobody knew of Talon's episodes that he knew of, and he certanly was not going to tell Dr. Conel.

=================================================

Aqua felt, something, almost like a sound, or a song. He followed the strange feeling untill he found himself next to a girl with blue hair. There was an empty seat next to her, so Aqua sat down.

Mist watched Abel take his food. She hadn't ever had mashed potato or broccoli for breakfast. Having a look back, she took a piece of buttered toast and a piece of bacon, putting the meat on top of it. Then she picked up her knife and fork and ct herself a small piece to go in her mouth. Oh! This was quite yummy! Kind of like her mom used to make it... The food seemed to turn to sawdust in her mouth as she thought of her mother, of home. Already she was feeling homesick. The thought of how her mom seemed to not love her made it all very much worse. She saw something out of the corner of her eye, and turned her head to see someone seated beside her. They were- Well, what were they? They looked like a robot, but inside it was water. Weird. The teenager scooched slightly closer to Abel, still staring at the thing. Geez. And then, she wondered... Not wanting to make it obvious at all, she raised a finger on her fork to see if anything happened. With normal water, that would make a small sort of spike thin raise up - but what would happen with this?
