Striving For Survival

"Yeah. I gathered that. And he claims to be from a failed Soviet-era organization that was dissolved when the Russian Federation took power. He would've said 'FSB' if he had any sense. And if he's a spy, he's certainly not operating under any sort of protocol you'd expect. He just offered to let me speak to his handler." Winston replied calmly. "Keep your voice down, kiddo. Take a breather."

Sarisha turned her head to face Winston. "Not you. I was talking to Lien." 'You know he's a spy.' She thought.

Yuri reached into his back pack, taking out the radio. "Dissolved? Not quite. More like... Reintegrated." he handed the radio to the ex-soldier.

"Yeah - reintegrated as the Federal Security Service. FSB. No longer the KGB. No longer the propaganda fueled torture machine it was before." Winston took the radio with his free hand, clicking it on and holding it out towards Yuri. He gave him a nod, implying to him that he should speak.

Yuri chuckled, speaking into the microphone. "The rat's lost his cheese." There was a long silence, before a loud bang on the other end. "God DAMN it Yuri! Who the hell is there with you!?" the voice was angry sounding, furious. Obviously, Yuri was using some sort of worded code.

Winston simply shrugged, keeping the radio outstretched. He pressed the transmit button, waiting for Yuri to speak. His expression was flat and his posture was lax. The radio was held loosely and invitingly, but his other hand still very firmly held his pistol, the finger wrapped gently around the trigger.

"A spy?" Lien was surprised, but it seemed to make sense why she seemed so on edge around the Russian. She stood and walked over to Sarisha. Boy, things escalated quickly.

Sarisha returned to her crouched position. Her nausea passed and she stood again. She looked around, and then focused on Winston and Yuri. Sarisha waited for Yuri to speak to the man on the other end of the communicator again.

Mak walked around looking to see if there was any movement near the area. After the first survey he saw nothing, the second Lien appeared in his sight and allowed her onto the roof. On the last survey Mak caught movement near a house across the street. Mak squented his eyes to try and get a closer then opens them wide and looks over his shoulder at the others. "Guys look sharpe. Got about twenty or more of them heading our way." He states while pumping his shotgun looking ahead again at the swarm coming towards them.

Sarisha heard Mak, behind her, yell that a horde was coming. She turned to the other three people on the roof, Lien, Winston, and Yuri. 'I can hold it down and fight for about three hours.' She thought.

"We should go inside. It's safer in there." Sarisha whispered loudly over to them all. She picked up her backpack from where she fell and flung it over her shoulders. Sarisha walked as steadily as she could over to the ladder.
