The Strength Lies Within

Recommended Posts

Tyran barely heard Ashlain's plan over the shouts of the humans but he knew what he had to do now. Picking out a human from the jumble of objects he leaped. His thin and frail legs barely pushed him off the ground and the little muscle it had burned with pain. He landed awkwardly and tried agian and again, dodging around other humans trying to scoop him up. He found his target and reared up and dug his tiny claws into the white suit and clambered up as fast as he could. The man shouted and grabbed for him but Tyran managed to twist out of the way and wrapped his thin limbs about the scientist's neck and twisted his long neck around to shriek in the humans face.

Bloodvein pushed open the cupboard door letting streams of hatchlings attack, he immediatly ran towards the vent and climbed up to it attempting to break in. He saw that he could lift it like a flap, though his weak body couldnt handle the weight alone.

"Alshlain, little help with the vent?"

The room had became chaos, humans were running around madly, most had dragons all over them.

Alshain ran out from his hiding place, using all his strength to hit one of the humans. He dashed over to the vent with Bloodvein. He grabbed the corner nearest to him and heaved up as much as his thin little forelegs would allow. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a human grabbing a Neglected hatchling. The dragon squealed and bit the human on the hand making him drop it. Alshain glared at the vent. Hopefully they'd be able to escape fast enough. Bloodvein! We'll hold this open and let the others escape. Then we follow. Got that?'

Bloodvein smiled as it rose, he heard Alshain talk and nodded.

Ok then. We need to signal the others to run through here."

He attempted a roar, but not many dragons heard, but as they ran through the vent. Several others followed, not all of the dragons knew about the vent yet, and some were still running around.

Alshain noticed how many dragons still had not noticed the open vent. He took a deep breath and roared as loudly as he could muster. The humans stopped in their pursuit for a moment, giving the hatchlings a chance to follow the rest into the vent. Bloodvein! You go in now. I'll follow. Alshain looked around, seeing the humans closing in.

((sorry....))

Whiteny continued going in twists and turns in the air vents that she calls "tunnels". She lead the way, from time to time checking scent and air direction. At a certain point she stopped and hoped that any of the other hatchlings could follow her. Please come guys.... i don't want to leave any of you behind.

Bloodvein smiled,

"No, im waiting until everyones in..."

The rest of the dragons jumped into the vent because of Alshain's roar. The humans had formed a small circle around the vent to attempt to trap the dragons in. They slowly approached the vent.

"Thats everyone, now RUNNNN!!"

He let go of the vent door and ran into the darkness.

Alshain leap in after Bloodvein, letting the door swing shut behind him. A human lifted the flap wth ease and grabbed Alshain by the tail, whereupon he was quickly scratched and let go. Alshain hissed, then turned to Bloodvein. 'Come on. Let's get to the front of the group and find a way out.'

Bloodvein nodded and began to follow the sounds of hundreds of footsteps clinking on the metal. It was almost pitch black in the vent and you needed sound to know where to go. He saw something move infront of him and discovered it was the end of the line of dragons.

"I found the back..."

Alshain walked up to Bloodvein - or at least in the direction of his voice. 'Alright, follow the line of dragons until we reach the front. Just don't get lost.' He couldn't help but let some slight fear into his voice - they could end up becoming lost and dying of starvation. He started to push past the hatchlings, straining to see ahead.

((Yay, thanks!))

"Need help knowing where to go?", a voice came from beside Alshain. The voice belonged to Gradlic, who was also a Neglected. His eyes seemed to pierce into Alshain as he watched him. Gradlic looked at Bloodvein and his friend, the two seemingly confused in the eerie darkness.

((Sorry, started a new school e_e))

Taldaer followed the long line of dragons, it's strength finally ebbing away. Night has come, we need to get out of here fast. It shifted uncomfortably, the air vent only just big enough for it to move. Taldaer's red eyes gave off a slight glow, unlike some of the other hatchlings as it too was used to seeing in the dark. Taldaer blinked nervously, looking at it's feet.

Tyran followed the long line of hatchlings. He could barely see where he was going. The vent was dark and the dragons' eyes looked like colorful fireflies. Many of them were red while others were green, yellow, amber, and... and...

Tyran shook his head and kept going, his stick legs stumbling over one another. He wanted to get out; to find the fresh air he had scented flowing into the room when the scientist opened the door for just a moment to squeeze out. He wanted to find the beautiful blue sky he though he'd never see again. He wanted to escape from the confines of a man made tunnel.

Tyran stuck his head further out and accidentally touched one of the tail spines of the dragon ahead of him and jerked back, hoping the dragon didn't know. It didn't react so Tyran relaxed a bit and then called out, Does anybody know where this leads to?

He was worried it would lead to another building or a big machine responsible for maintaining the flow of air throughout the tunnels.

Whiteny heard the scraping of claws, hundreds of scraping claws. She roared to let them know the way to her. She hoped her bright white colour will make them be able to see her in these tunnels. She also started scraping her claws on the metal in the tunnel. She wanted to make sure she can make them follow, or find, their way to her, so that they all can go out to freedom.

Tyran heard a roar. It echoed through the tunnel, shaking and vibrating the slick ground he was scrambling over. The hundreds of scratching noises mingled with the echoes of the roar, faintly mingled with that of the alarm that went off earlier and Tyran knew they weren't far enough away from the humans yet. He pushed past a hatchling in front of him, a gray, causing her to snap irratably. Then he slid past a sickly hatchling that was so thin he could barely walk. And so he went until he bumped into a hatchling with a big fluffy pelt and leathery tail and feet. This hatchling almost blocked up the whole space and Tyran could not even fit his head past. The fluffy dragon was so furry that he didn't even notice and continued striding along. Tyran settled into a wobbly trot behind him and tried to ignore the feeling of the hatchling behind him staring hotly at the back of his head.

Bloodvein nodded then started pushing passed other dragons making his way to the front. He was attempting to walk along the walls in an attempt to not annoy the dragons he pushed past. It didnt work as plan and he fell off and slammed into another dragon.

Sorry...

Tyran walked along behind the fluffy dragon. He grew ever bored with watching the great hump of fur swaying one way then another. He paused then bounded in small hops forward, his thin legs barely making it. When he was about to crash into that furry rump he sucked in his breath and scrabbled into the small space beside the dragon. He clawed at the sides of the tunnel and pulled himself forward until he popped in front of the fuzzy dragon. He turned to look back and saw that the thing didn't even notice. He still walked with the same swagger. Then Tyran noticed the fur falling past his face and obscuring his vision. This dragon's fur was so long, he can hardly see past it! Tyran thought. Then he faced the front again. Hundreds of scratching noises filled his ears and panting noises mingled together. He was irritated at the noise but there was little he could do about it though. He continued on his way, feeling the vibrations tickling him all over and inside out.

Sylvia let out a squeal of surprise are another hatchling bumped into her. Her skinny, weak legs didn't allow her to catch herself in time, and she stumbled to the ground. Shaking her head, slightly stunned, she git back to her paws with some effort.

Bloodvein looked at who he bumped into more closly as she fell over,

"Im sorry.. Are you alright?"

He stopped trying to push past the hatchlings in front and instead stayed with the hatchling he knocked over.

Gradlic looked at Bloodvein.

"Where are you planning to go? Outside? It's that way", he said, pointing towards the far end of the tunnel that they were in, the way they were heading. He watched the two hatchlings, then began pushing his way towards the exit.
