The Strength Lies Within

Recommended Posts

Taldaer's eyes widened in suprose. It had never though other dragons would be able to get free. It eyed up it's tail, an idea sparking in it's mind. It could feel sunset, it felt strenght return to it. As if wheighing up it's tail, Taldaer lifted it. It swung the spines back and forth, aiming it's hit. When enough momentum was made, Taldaer smashed the spines into the lock, they impaled the metal, smashing through the lock. Taldaer leapt from it's cage, it's feet landing lightly on the slippery floor below. It raised one of it's eyebrows to a dragon at the top of the shelves and began to look around the room.

((Yes, dragons have eyebrows, no matter how undistiquished they are xd.png))

Bloodvein watched as a cage door smashed open and a dragon lept out onto the floor looking at him. He ran back down the cage doors and had a look at the mangled remains of it's cage.

"Nice work... Im Bloodvein." he said as he jumped down on the floor.

Taldaer tilted it's head slightly, examining Bloodvein. Taldaer. It replied, it's voice showing no indicator of it's gender or suprise. Taldaer examined this dragon. He had long fangs, he was obviously a vampire before, no wings but other then that, he was like just about every other neglected hatchling in this room. Taldaer waited to see what Bloodvein would do, it wasn't in a very social mood at the moment.

((*ahem* If the locks were that easy to break through, the scientists wouldn't use them. We'll leave it at that, shall we? tongue.gif))

Alshain ducked instinctively as the two hatchlings broke out. They seemed to be making a dangerous amount of noise and he was scared that the humans would hear. He jumped down onto the floor and faced the two. 'Quiet! We musn't be caught!' he hissed frantically. He looked around at the other cages in desperation. How to get them out now? He paced around the room, a glint of metal catching his eye. He drew in his breath and bounded across the room towards it. When he finally reached it, he felt his heart sink. It wasn't a 'key'...it was a thin bit of wire. He sat there staring at it for a second, then an idea sprung to mind. He picked up the wire in his mouth and trotted back across the room. A round circle on the ceiling caught his eye for a moment, but it didn't seem to be doing anything and he dismissed it. Alshain continued trotting across the room, unaware that everything he and the other hatchlings were doing was being caught on camera.

Bloodvein whispered "Sorry...."

He walked around the room and ran up the cages to the top again. He scanned the room for a bit looking for any keys. He saw none and paced the shelf, listening for humans.

((That's against weak hatchlings that don't hive spines on their tails, or very week neglecteds that woudln't have the power to do that >:D Taldaer was a sunset, sunsetness makes it stronger O.o But if you say so. Calling you're character an "It" Is wierd O.o))

Taldaer settled down, lying on the cool floor, waiting for this neglected to finish what it was doing so they could escape. It sniffed the air and, sensing nothing unusuall, watched the dragon do his thing. Taldaer was rather quiet, not wanting to get mixed up with things that wern't his buisness, so he sat silently, nose sniffing the air every few minutes.

((Okes, you win x3))

Alshain trotted up to the other two and dropped the wire. 'I found this. It's longer and thinner than claws.' He picked it up again and pushed it into the nearest lock. A bit of pressure and a twist was all it took before the lock gave a gentle click and the cage swung open, letting out the Neglected within. Alshain grinned and turned to the others. He bent the wire until it snapped and gave Bloodvein and Taldaer a piece each. 'You two start working on the first two rows. And keep listening for activity.' He clambered up to the third row of cages and started picking the lock to the first cage.

((The camera, i think once most of the dragons are free alarms go off. Anyone agree? biggrin.gif))

Bloodvein took the wire and nodded, jumping to the 2nd row and picking the locks. Excited neglected dragons were jumping out of their cages all over the room. He finished the 2nd row and crawled up to the 3rd and begun.

Taldaer's eyebrows were raised again as it took the piece of wire from the dragon's paws. At first it held the wire in it's mouth, but as it neared a cage, holding another neglected hatchling, it moved the wire to it's paws. It got to work silently, not speaking to the hatchling at all. At varous moments, Taldaer's head would rise, as if hearing something, before it dismissed it and got back to work. Eventually, Taldaer's work was done, the lock clicked open and it backed away from the cage as the door swung open.

((@ Pinkieseb: I agree!))

Alshain finished the fourth row, leaving the fifth and final row for the others. He jumped down, landing sprawled out on the ground. He picked himself up and retrieved his wire, glancing at the group of Neglecteds that had been released. Then he hurried over to the normal hatchlings, working away at their locks frantically.

((Yay! Tripwire at door, laser one? Causes alarms to go boom biggrin.gif))

Bloodvein smiled as he was satisfied with his work, he had completly done rows 3 and 4. He watched the others finish their rows, he led the group on neglects towards the door. It was slightly open, he stuck his head through to check for humans. The moment he did that the lights started flashing and went red, and alarms started blaring.

Taldaer's head rose immediatly. It had freed four or five more dragons before the alarm went off, the loud echoing rung through it's body. It could feel the sound waves chourusing through the ground, making it shake slightly. Taldaer looked around with wide eyes, unsure of what to do. His legs told him to flee, but he wanted to help the other dragons.

((We should wait for the others))

((Yes, one... last... post...))

Bloodvein ran back into the room and ran up onto the top shelf, he then jumped across onto a closeby cupboard and he ran inside. He hid at the back corner as he watched many dragons follow his lead and hide there too.

Alshain was freeing the last unchanged hatchling when the alarms went off. He jerked back in shock, looking around wildly and dropping the wire. He quickly fumbled at the lock, the trapped hatchling pushing against the bars in panic. Out of the corner of his eye, Alshain saw the freed dragons trying to hide. He frantically attacked the lock, his paws shaking slightly. Somehow, the lock gave out and fell off. Alshain swung open the door and jumped down to the floor, with the freed hatchling following close behind. On the floor, he could feel the vibrations from the alarm rattling through his body. He skittered over to the cupboard and and hid next to it, seeing the remaining hatchlings taking cover under shelves and crouched as far back as he could, trying to dissapear as much as was possible next to the wall.

Bloodvein heard shouts coming from down the hallway as humans came running into the room. He heard them yelling for the escaped dragons and searching franticly. Bloodvein winced as he heard them knock the empty cages to the ground in anger. Looking through the small gap in the cupboard door he saw the humans disable the alarm and search the room.

Taldaer body jerked to life as it saw other hatchlings run for cover. It ran towards the shelves, leaping up each on in turn, ragged wings pushing as hard as they could to aid it. Taldaer reached it's cage and leapt inside, shutting the door as much as it could. It sat, waiting. Waiting for the inevitable. For the humans to enter the room and find most of them missing. The alarm was still ringing in it's ears, the empty cages vibrating, clattering along the shelf. It's eyes were wide and fearful as the humans entered. It watched them warily as they searched the cages, they seemed slightly relived when they found it was still in the cage. But not for long, Taldaer hoped.

Alshain held his breath. It wouldn't be long until he and the other hatchlings were found, and the humans wouldn't give up until they had found every last one. He made an attempt to head to the cupboard but stopped himself from emerging too far. He wanted to try and arrange a plan with Bloodvein - but he couldn't risk being spotted trying to slip into the cupboard. Then he mentally slapped himself. Telepathy! Still standing on three legs and half in the open, he started to talk.

Bloodvein! Can you hear me? The humans aren't going to give up until they've found us all. We need a game plan, ASAP. We can't escape through the door - they shut it. Can you see anything; a vent maybe?

Taldaer lay down again, defeat was obvious. It only had a few minutes or so before twilight would be up, leaving it feel weaker. It's head jolted up, eyes wide with realisation. It grinned to itself. Distractions... It muttered, preparing to leap out of the cage at the nearest man. Taldaer got into it's stance, at first glance it would look playful, until you noticed how concentrated it looked.Taldaer got ready, claws out, and leapt. Taldaer was rather big, around the size of a pretty big dog now. It knocked the human off it's feet as Taldaer attacked.

((Sorry guys I was at school tongue.gif))

Tyran sat in his cage watching the other dragons with red milky eyes full of curiousity. He pawed at the wire mesh of his cage as the other dragons panicked and threw themselves about. But not him. He wanted to gather all the information he could before attempting to do anything.

After a while, everybody began to make lots of noise and then two more hatchlings joined the one already on the floor. He wanted to follow but then humans came in. But then a hatchling attacked one of the humans and knocked him to the floor. Tyran reared up in the little room he had in his cage and rattled the bars. He threw back his head as best as he could in the little space and started shrieking shrilly, a habit that he could never get out of. When he was younger his voice has been deep and proud but when he turned frail from neglect, his voice got damaged in a strange way and now he could only shriek and speak in high tones. So he did so now, shrilling to the others, Can anybody free me?

((Oh okay.))

Tyran skittered towards the shade of a soft looking tree ((lol it's actually a chair.)) on round black paws. He went too fast and tripped over one of the tree's hard black roots and tumbled into a maze of vine-like things. ((cables xd.png))

He thrashed but got even more stuck. Then he stopped when the shadow of a man hovered over his hiding place while the others rushed about the room. After the shadow moved away, Tyran began to calm down a bit, enough to realize in his formor terrae mind that he was going to get stuck here if he didnt concentrate. It's just like vines, he thought to himself and began to untangle himself.

Once free, he snuck along a wall and around the cluster of "vines'. He stopped in a cleared spot and crouched down, ready to run or jump or do anything neccesary to survive.

Bloodvein heard Alshains telepathic message, he lept to the door and looked out a tiny hole in the cupboard door to scan the room. Something sparkled, he looked at its shiny metal surface. A vent! he thought to himself,

Alshain, theres a vent, far side of the room. We need a distraction to move the humans...

Tyran looked about. A shadow flickering in a hole in a box shaped object drew his attention to it as the humans continued to yell. He focused on it and realized somebody must be hiding inside. Suddenly a pair of feet appeared in his face and white cloth slapped the hatchling gently. He sniffed the smell of stale clothes and human scent. Warily he backed away from it. Then suddenly, the human sat down into the black tree made of cloth and rolled towards his little cave under a thing called desk. Then suddenly, a foot kicked him randomly and the hatchling, taken by surprise, flew into the tangle of "vines" and pulled some down from a hole in the roof. Hard objects at the ends hit his head and draped over his thin body. He backed up deeper as he scented confusion from the human. He did not pay much attention to the other humans or what the other hatchlings were saying and tried to keep away from the foot.

Tyran slowly pulled away from the "vines" and edged carefully around the foot. Then suddenly, the human drew back the stood up and went outside quickly, making sure no place was large enough for a hatchling to just bust through. Tyran caught a glimpse of sky and commited that sight to memory before creeping back to his spot and glancing around.

Hey everybody! he called out. What are we going to do now?

Alshain thought carefully. There was going to be only one chance at this, and if it failed they'd be recaptured.

Everybody must run around the room. Throw the humans off their aim, knock them over, anything can do. While they're distracted, some of us can start attacking the vent. Make it a hit and run attack, or else the humans will catch us. He knew it was an extremely slapdash plan, but in the current situation anything would do.
