Ambra Neirum

The food was so delectable that she was humming alongside him. Her face was flushed from the sheer pleasure that the taste was giving her. Ambra sipped from the wine when Roberts asked if she was with a man. "What? No. I've never been promised to anyone." maybe, just maybe, if she had stayed in the Roman Creed she would have ended up with Scipio. Casio always told her that he was after her. Ambra still wrote to him but she found out that he had a child now. She felt lonelier than ever. Her eyes looked down at her meal and frowned deeply. Maybe God just didn't want her to have a lover. Maybe he wanted her to be devoted to constantly healing, like a nun was devoted to God. She sighed, and played with her food a bit before swallowing her next bite. She said nothing else about being with a man. For a moment, she wondered how it would be like to be in Cullen's arms. She had seen how Abigail just melted into his arms and how they loved each other. She wasn't jealous, just curious. Yet, she was worried what that would develop into...

"Oh? Well kindly excuse my intrusiveness. I was just wondering." He said as he whittled away at his meal. "But I must say, I'm quite surprised. Beautiful woman such as yourself; I'm stumped to find a reason you aren't fending off men like dogs, with a stick." Ease into it, now. Ease in. Careful as you'd like. If he came in too hot he'd be shot down before they even found a bedroom. He didn't get to use his charm as the cook, but with age comes a certain gravitas that develops, and that never hurt. Having had to butter his way out of dire situations was not something Roberts was unaccustomed to, either. This was no different, truly. It was almost like safe-cracking, in a way.

"Beautiful?" Ambra blushed, brushing some hair out of her face. The woman wouldn't call herself beautiful. Poppy was beautiful, Abe was beautiful. She was just a short, flat chested woman that didn't talk much. Her brow furrowed and she looked at her food. It suddenly didn't seem appetizing. So, she picked up her wine glass and sipped at it. "I'm not pretty. And I don't need to be pretty." she nibbled on her meat, a frown on her face as she ate. "If I was pretty, someone would have been with me by now." okay, maybe she was acting up. She found herself getting frustrated, and when she was frustrated she usually got angry. Her face simply got redder and redder, and she sniffed. Maybe it was the alcohol. But it was true. She could have been with Garrett... or with Cullen... No, he was with Abigail. And she couldn't interfere with that.

"You are pretty, Ambra." Roberts said, moving his hand to cup her's. "But you're more than this, as well. You were brought on to be a scholar. You're as fierce as a lion in combat. You're sweet, too." He took a short sip of wine before saying, "You shouldn't doubt yourself so. You're underestimating your worth. You just haven't found someone who appreciates it all, yet." 'Except for me' were the obvious next words but it would be more beneficial if she came to that herself.

His hand was so big. Ambra looked down at it. It almost covered her wrist and hand. Maybe it was because she was so small? She shook her head again, frustrated. "Thanks, you're such a sweet guy." well, that came out a bit slurred. She shook her head agaib, groaning. She hadn't been drunk before. She was so new to drinking that she didn't know what was going on. "Finished with my steak, by the way. You?" she asked, taking another sip of her wine. Why was she drinking more? She didn't know. Maybe she should stop? Ah, but it was starting to get tasty... she drank more and found herself growing even more disoriented.

He put the last bit in his mouth and after a moment sallowed. Downing his glass of wine, he realized he'd gone through about half the bottle and should probably lay off of it for now. Ambra definitely should. He could tell she was a bit off. He pulled out his coin purse and left the coin on the table. He got up and offered to help Ambra. "Aye. I did. C'mon. You're a little out of it, it seems. Let's get you out of here. Don't worry, I've got you." He was positive he'd done it, cracked the vault. Now all he needed to do was lift the handle. An 'accidental' trip was normally the ticket. He could catch her and that would seal it. The treasure would be his.

The woman couldn't see straight. Ambra felt cross eyed, and she got up, swaying to and fro. God, what was this? Was the drink poisoned? She felt like she was going to pass out... Ambra remembered her father telling her that one shouldn't get drunk. The laughs that he had shared with her before he died. Once he said that he had started to kiss the floor because he thought that it was his wife. Well, didn't she listen to him? She allowed Samuel to help and pouted. "Dun feel so good. Room is spinning." she groaned, rubbing her head. Ugh, this just couldn't get better, now could it?

Samuel laughed and helped her stand up. He put an arm around her hip and pulled her's over his shoulders. "You'll be just fine, lass. Trust me now. I take this as your first parlay with drink? It's rough the first time. Get's better the more you do it, if you choose to continue." They hobbled their way out of the restaurant and when they were on the street, he released her arm but kept his around her. She could probably walk but she'd still likely need to lean. "C'mon. Let's find somewhere for you to sit down a bit and get acclimated. You didn't have terribly much, so it should be our of your system quick enough." He led her down the street at a leisurely pace. At some point, her foot hit his and she lost her balance, but he caught her, laughing a bit. By the end of the little fiasco, she was in his arms like a ballroom dip and his laughing had died away. He stared into her eyes for a moment and was about to lean in when his conscience struck. He felt a lump in his gut as he pulled away and stood Ambra back on her feet, hands on her shoulders to steady her. She was such a sweet girl. He couldn't rob her of her innocence. He wouldn't. Bah. He was getting soft in old age. But was that so bad? "Ambra I must confess. I took you out today, not to see the city, but to sleep with you. I've enjoyed our day, I have. But I cannot do this to you. You deserve better than I and men like me." How he had changed! In his younger days he would've carried her off to an inn and picked up escorts on the way. "I'm sorry."

Ambra felt the cool air hit her face as they left the restaurant. When Samuel said that the alcohol would be better on her the more she drank, she groaned. Oh, she wasn't about to drink more alcohol. Maybe she would get a hangover. Just what she needed! She would always drink milk. Always. Suddenly her leg caught on hers and she almost tripped. But Samuel caught her and held her like they were in a ballroom, and then time froze. Or at least it felt like it... Samuel didn't move for a moment or two. But then he picked her up once more. Ambra swayed, and she would have fallen were it not for Samuel's hands on her shoulders. Ambra frowned, still queasy but understanding what he said. "You were tricking me!" she wailed much like a child, punching at his chest. "You big meanie! I won't... *hic* tend to your wounds... when... you... ah..." she collapsed against his chest, thoroughly knocked out for the night. At least the poor girl won't remember this the next morning...

Roberts smirked as she yelled. Yes, yes, he was despicable. But she collapsed against him and he couldn't help but laugh more. He picked her up across his arms and walked back to the ship. He'd gotten a woman drunk but with every intention to return her safely. This was certainly new. What could have caused this sudden moral emergence? He didn't know but he was fairly happy it happened. It felt good being the knight in shining armor, even if he had been the dragon not minutes ago. He made his way up the gangplank and back into the hold. He located her bed with the assistance of a crew mate and tucked her under the covers. He left but returned with a herbal tea. She would be hungover for sure, and that might help. He set it on a table by her bed and left her in peace. He had things to ponder about himself. And possibly cheap woman to sleep with later. Not to mention the roast he had to season in an hour.

Theresa

Theresa was just barely hearing Ceto. She'd caught her drink and stared at it as if deciding it was poison or not. She could handle it. She took it with dramatic flare and downed it all at once. She shook as she put down the drink, not drunk but feeling like a great dam of anxiety had burst all at once and all the energy she had before going into being a proper lady was gone. "Ceto...?" she asked. "Does all alcohol feel like you're drinking liquid fire?" she liked the feeling. She could understand why they all did it now. It felt so much better, even if she wasn't drunk. "How do I stand being so uptight about this stuff all the time? I feel so much better. Maybe I could drink more." she mused to herself, but then realized that Ceto had been talking at the same time. "S-sorry. I was just drinking the ale... but I really think that you should try to settle down with someone. I don't want you to waste your time being just around, and eventually you'll get tired of even that. Just find one person, because you only need the one person to make you happy. Sorry... I'm just a sap for that kind of stuff. Sorry..."

She was at a loss for words when Theresa started asking if drinking alcohol was like drinking liquid fire. Did she really just ask that? Had she had no sort of drop of alcohol before? All alcohol made you warm, it just varied on the amount of warmth it gave you. At least, that was what she thought. She chuckled at Theresa and waved her off. "Stop saying sorry! There's nothing to be sorry about." she laughed. She remembered that they had the sheet that Cullen and Garrett had picked up from Borneo a few weeks ago. Bah, she would give it to Casio and Aelia tomorrow. They really had nowhere to go. The last riddle they read was a doozy. No one could solve it! "You should really get drunk more often, Theresa." she chuckled, swinging back her head and downing the rest of her drink. Ah, that was the good stuff... We could get drunk much more often."

"I never drank because I was scared too. I was just scared of losing control..." Theresa didn't elaborate, but she waved for another ale. When she had it, she downed another one. "We should get drunk more often. It feels nice." at two she felt a little tipsy, mostly because she hadn't eaten anything beforehand.

(Placing Abe so Casty can try to convince her to join them. wink.gif)

Waking up on a lazy morning alone in her bunk, the Scot rolled her head around on her shoulders and stretching her body in a luxurious, cat-like fashion. It was a good start to the day for Abigail, as she had woken up refreshed and ready for the day's trials and tribulations. This is how it ought to be, she thought with pleasure. Dressing herself at a leisurely pace, the gunner strolled out of her room and climbed the ladder to the upper deck. Bypassing the busy sailors, she simply leaned on the railing of the ship and overlooked the waters that crashed and flowed below them. It was beautiful, really, but she rarely thought to appreciate the splendor of the sea. As the gentle salt winds licked her face and shifted her heavy dreadlocks around, she smiled and closed her eyes, resting her head on her hands and allowed herself to relax. What a lazy, good day!

So today was the day. Today was the day that they brought Ceto on her knees, begging to them. The smirk crawled across his face. The wind blew past his silky hair, and against his rugged face. Even God favored them that day. Poppy said that she was going to convince Garrett, so he would convince the gunman. He walked to Abigail, looking her over. She was a strong character. Very serious and smart. This would be difficult. That was why he brought the signed paper. Poppy would find it easy to convince that dolt that Ceto was a traitor. He started to breathe heavily, and ran the rest of the way to Abigail. "Abe! Look at this. I found this in Ceto's room!" he whispered harshly. He pulled out the paper and handed it to her. "Read it. You have to hurry! She can come out at any moment. If it's so she'll kill everyone! That is, if she finds out."

Garrett Hemsworth

The hull of the large vessel thumped against the dock of Rome. Garrett polished the railings of dirt and looked out over the city. Rome, such a fascinating city! He really didn't understand the language, but... he knew it had history. He smiled for a moment and then went back to work. He walked to the mast and sighed at the amount of arrows that were there. They were ruining the woodwork. It was probably that Frenchman, Robb. He hadn't bothered to pull them out? He knew Ambra was an archer but she had the decency to pull them out. And her arrows were tipped with feathers. These weren't. Grunting as he pulled one out, he let it clatter to the floor. Then his hand went to the others. The man pulled out the rest and placed them to the side, and began to fix the marred mast. Ceto had always been complaining about it... But at least he found some work. The last thing he wanted was to be bored.

When Castiel approached and told her to read something and made a hasty explanation after shoving a document in her nose, she gently took it and skimmed the content. Alright. Fairly incriminating. But Abigail was not a dolt. She'd have to know the truth. To be honest, it didn't particularly matter to her what was used as incriminating evidence to take Ceto down as much as the people doing the deed. She needed to trust the people she was to stand behind, which was why she needed to know the truth in order to side with the rebels. "Why were you snooping around Ceto's room? Tell me the truth, now." she asked quietly so as to not draw attention to the situation. Even though she was undecided and suspicious, it was not her goal to jeopardize Castiel's mission. He could carry on without her if that was what she chose in the end without her trying to take him and his co-conspirators down, but as soon as one of her own was threatened, that would be enough to get her riled.

Heidi sported her blue dress, the one Castiel had helped her choose. She also wore heeled shoes and radiated grace with every step. It was the epitome of her years as a child of a rich man. All the training, the practice. She sought out her target. Garrett. It wasn't the first time he was in her crosshairs but it was the first time with pure intentions. Alright. Pure-er. She approached, smiling softly, eyes inviting, and said, "Hello, Garrett. Do you have a moment? It would be my desire to speak with you, if only briefly." She noticed his work and added, "Those dastardly archers! Don't they have another target? One that doesn't require the time and attention of a craftsman?" It was almost refreshing to embody that persona again. So rarely did she use it any longer. Her nights of love had been more infrequent as late and she had less and less reason to seduce.

"I often enter her cabin, being quartermaster and all." Castiel explained to her, worry on his face. "I snuck in once because whenever I would walk in she would scramble to hide papers. And so I asked myself if Ceto really was a traitor, which this proves correct. You should see the amounts of birds she gets every night, ones that bring messages."

Garrett Hemsworth

Garrett heard a voice behind him and turned to see Poppy. "Oh hey Poppy. What do you wanna speak about?" he asked. "And don't mind the arrows. They're a common occurrence. Doesn't bother me much."

"We need to chat." Heidi said, smiling. She took him by the arm and whisked hi away down below deck, where no one could hear them. She brought him towards the bow and sat him down on a crate. "Garrett, dearie. I've some news and I want you to know. Ceto; she's betrayed the order. The crew, in turn, as well. Castiel found a document. He has it and I'm sure you'll be given the chance to see it later. Ceto's signature is at the bottom and a Templar stamp is at the top. It's a request for aid. For what or to whom I'm unsure, but it means our captain has dangerous allies. It's up to us to stop this while we can. If we don't we might be headed into a trap that would kill us all." She whispered, and whispered gravely. It was imperitive that he understood the importance of it all. He was an assassin as well, and as sworn to uphold the safety of the Creed.

They had to talk? Oh well. Okay. He allowed her to drag her off, hoping that she would not pin him down and kiss at his neck again. That had been embarrassing... He was sat down on some crates and listened to what she said. What..? Ceto... was a traitor? His eyes went wide and he physically tensed. ... Again, what? "... You're kidding me, right? We're talking about the Ceto, as in Captain Ceto?" he couldn't believe it. The man had placed his trust in her, as an assassin. He ran a hand through his hair and frowned. "Are you sure that this is true?" it sounded really fishy. Ceto had shown no signs of being a Templar. Or a Templar ally... Unless she really hid it well. "... I don't think I can betray her." he told Poppy. "Poppy... I know we're supposed to root out traitors... but... I just can't." what would she say?

Abigail shrugged passively, not seeming to be very motivated one way or the other. "But why does that paper prove anything? The signature is too shaky for her to have signed that sober, so how am I to know if she was coerced or not?" Pausing, the woman sighed deeply and rubbed her eyes. "But in truth, I have considered overthrowing her if I ever got the chance. So let's start over. You tell it to me straight. Tell me why you want her overthrown and what you'll do afterwards. And what's in it for me. Maybe I'll join you and maybe I won't, but it's not in my nature to be overly aggressive outside of a real battle, so I think you're pretty safe. All I want is the truth."

Heidi thought shortly and said, "You think I want to believe this? You think I want to give this up? This ship? This life? What other ship is run by women who 're respected by the men? Do you really think I'll have a terribly fun time on another ship? I've sailed on plenty to know that unless I'm constantly on guard, someone is going to force me into bed and jump my bones. I'm strong, Garrett, but I'm small." She wasn't lying here, either. Everything she said was true. "I don't want to turn Ceto in more than nearly anyone. This is the only life I know anymore and I don't think I'll find many good crews that want me around for much more than my body. If I do they'll be imbeciles. Garrett, this is right. If Ceto is a traitor, you owe it yourself, to the brotherhood and to me, to root her out." She dropped her mask entirely to get her point across. Her eyes pleaded softly. She needed Garrett on her side. Better, she didn't want him going down with Ceto. She regretted her actions, whether because it was embarrassing or guilt, she did. That might change Abe's mind about her. Too bad Heidi thought she was a censorkip.gif*.

"The truth is what I'm telling you." Castiel told Abe, crossing his arms. This had to be done. He had to overthrow Ceto. First of all she was a tyrant. She needed her wings clipped. And second of all, he wanted the power. He felt as if he could serve a better purpose. He would lead the Sista Viska to victory. "Listen, Abe. I have the proof. There have been messenger pigeons visiting her. She's been too hard on us. She keeps herself away from the rest of us. She signed this paper, drunk or not. She's a smart woman, Abe. She knows what she's doing." he had to have Abigail on her side. There had to be some support from her. She was a strong woman, but she was loyal. Or so he thought. Did she really say that she had been plotting to overthrow her as well?

Garrett Hemsworth

What Heidi said was true. Maybe Ceto had gone sour. Maybe she was a traitor. Maybe she was the ally of the Templars. But that was all it was. A maybe. He looked at her, looked into her eyes. There was pleading in there, begging. She seemed sincere. "Pop... Heidi. I'm an assassin. I know my duty is to you and to the Brotherhood. But something tells me I'm not hearing the whole story." he got up and began to walk away. That was what Garrett was. He was extremely loyal and he wouldn't betray anyone for just a stupid piece of paper. Now, if he actually saw the said person doing horrible things, then maybe he would go after them for justice. But Ceto was loyal, she was strong, and she was definitely a pure assassin. She was like him. "I'm sorry, but I can't help you. I'll die beside Ceto if I have to."

Heidi sighed. All for not. She caught up with him quickly and placed a hand on his chest. "Look, Garrett. I know last time we were alone I tried to sleep with you and this time I'm trying to get you to help douse Ceto's fires, but I don't want to see you caught in the crossfire. This will probably turn bloody. Stay safe, alright?" She turned and walked away, off to god know's where at that point. Why she worried for Garrett she didn't know. Maybe it was because he was the first man to turn her down and she respected him for it? Maybe it was because she wanted him more for it and didn't want to lose her chance at him? Maybe she considered him a friend? No. That was ridiculous. She had no friends. No one cared for her outside favors.

Garrett was surprised when Poppy placed a hand on his chest. She had stopped him- what else did she want? But she told him she didn't want him in the crosshairs, that she wanted him to stay safe. But before he could question why, she walked away. Garrett had a very disturbed look on his face as he walked to his bed. He sat down at the edge and pulled out a whetstone. He hadn't used it in a while because there was no need to keep his sword sharpened. They were at peace. However, after the grave news... He pulled his sword out of its sheathe and began to sharpen the blade. For once in a while, he felt fear clutch at his heart. If he stood beside Ceto, he would be branded a traitor as well. And Poppy knew that. Was she saying that he should run? Him, run? He was loyal to Ceto, and to the Brotherhood. He couldn't just run. He would stay here.
