Posted August 2, 2012 Okay, I just thought that it would because of this on the first post: Good thing I started another one immediately! I can see how that can be confusing. I'll try to explain it clearer: Rule 5 says that: If you've just started a book, or are half way through one when you begin the challenge, then that will count towards your total. You begin the challenge the moment you sign up if that happens during or after August 1st. If you sign up before August 1st, you begin the challenge at August 1st. I hope it is clearer now Also, updated to here. Share this post Link to post

Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) Add me to the list please! I totally forgot this last year. Book Number: 1 Number Of Pages: 352 Book Title: Before I Wake Author: Rachel Vincent Summary: Kaylee Cavanaugh has been dead for less than a month, and she is getting used to faking life, while earning her keep in the living world. Her first job, retrieving a stolen soul, puts her up against an old foe. A plan is unfolding in the underworld and it takes everything she has to keep her living friends from dieing all around her. Rating: 5/5 Review: I picked up the first book in the series merely because it was free. However, Rachel Vincent just keeps getting better and better as the series progresses. Before I Wake, and the book before it, If I Die, are just excellent. I don't get very emotional often, but the end of this book made me cry. It's exciting and completely unexpected. I totally can't wait for the last book in this series. I never expected to get into a series full of teenage drama, but she does it very well. Also, Kaylee and Tod! *squeals like a fangirl* Finally! Posted August 3, 2012 Book Number: 1 Number Of Pages: 260 Book Title: Murder at the War (in paperback as Knight Fall) Author: Mary Monica Pulver Summary: Every year, members of the Society for Creative Anachronism flock to a campground in western Pennsylvania for their biggest annual event, the Pennsic War. As the battle weapons are made of rattan, many liken the War to Valhalla... fight all day, die several times, and still be in great shape for the feast that evening. Police detective Peter Brichter and his wife Kori, known in the SCA as Lord Stefan and Lady Katherine, are attending for the first time. In the course of making new friends and greeting old ones, the couple have a clash with Thorstane Shieldbreaker, a known troublemaker. When Katherine, acting as a water-bearer during the Woods Battle, finds a fatally stabbed Thorstane, reality quickly pierces the dream when the local police learn of her run-in with the victim and latch onto her as chief suspect. Their investigation is hampered by their lack of knowledge of the Society and how it operates. Stefan launches his own quiet investigation, hoping to clear his wife and find the real murderer. Rating: (optional) 3-1/2 of 5 Review: (optional) It's a fun look at the SCA of approximately the mid-1980s, and anyone who's ever experienced an SCA event will get a smile. It's also the author's first book, so it's not perfection. But quite enjoyable all the same. Share this post Link to post

Review: I still can't decide if I love it or hate it. This is a drastic improvement on The Atlantis Complex, which pretty much sucked The series once again has the author's excellent sarcasm and wit that made me love the series to begin with. But I hated the very end of the book. I won't get into it, major plot spoiler, but shouldn't dead things stay dead? Share this post Link to post
