"Excellent," said Victor upon hearing about the blue prints. He rubbed his hands together in anticipating. "Just hand 'em over and I'll be happy."

Victor snatched the blue prints from Connor and leafed through them. It was some good stuff. "Have it... Tractor... useless... too damaged... oooh this is Ukranian." Then something clicked into place as Victor caught sight of James.

"Who's the new kid with the dog?" said Victor smiling behind his mask. He pointed to Connor who was walking off in a different direction. "I didn't think anyone had dogs out here."

"Who's the new kid with the dog?"

James presumed the man Connor called Victor was talking to him, so he answered the question.

"James, and this is my dog Lance, I raised him from a pup. I chanced upon your entourage coming here and they invited me alone, per se. I'm a mercenary by trade, owe my gun to the highest bidder and the like."

" Entire caravan of these. And scrap." Connor replied. " Ukrainian? Well, after the commie war, I'd expect that." Connor went to fetch some more documents and files from the first Brahmin he saw but the caravan had already moved on to the chapter. He returned to Victor and James without the blue-prints. " They moved on already so now you have the things in your office. He's a merc. We didn't pass anything important on the trip."

"Well the only way I can recognize the Ukrainian dialect is from a fact-book I found a few years back," said Victor. He stashed the documents in his duster. "I hope you are right when you say you didn't pass anything important."

Victor stepped over to James. "So, how long have you been a merc," asked Victor holding out a hand to him.

" So, now that you have the blue prints, you should probably be decoding them. That reminds me. Outpost Zeta is in the middle of a battle with the Enclegion. They are low on men and have been unable to retreat due to forceful attacks." Connor didn't know exactly what was happening, plus he was just repeating what he heard from the Paladins.

"A while, it's a horrific job, though it keeps me swimming in caps and that's what I need most."

James paused for a breath and continued, "For food, water, toys for Lance, and such. Speaking of caps, I believe that there was a one-thousand cap reward for assisting, Connor?"

Pausing for a moment, he continued to say, "May I have it now?" James said, in reply to Victor and starting a conversation with Connor.

James then noticed the hand Victor was extending towards himself, and it put him slightly off-nerve.

In reaction to it, he said slightly amused, "What are you doing there, mister?" A frail mask hiding his true emotions, but hopefully enough to show the man he was uncomfortable.

Dismissing the scene for now, James looked around the room.

Nothing seemed to jump out at him, so he started listening to the two again.

"Yes, well you should go to the Merchants. They're the ones who give out payment. If they say no, tell them that the BoS sent you. Or if you want to be specific, tell them that Victor sent you." Connor reached into his pockets, only to find Lazer pistol battery packs. "Also, he wants to shake your hand, James. It's like you don't meet people that often if you feel uncomfortable." Connor wanted to walk away but everyone else seemed bored. Suddenly, an alarm went off. " The Enclave is attacking the base. Alert: Code Red!"

Connor started running towards the the other door but an explosion rang from the other side. He ran into the caravan door to find both large doors open. "Come on!" He yelled back to the two to come back.

"Ah, I see. Not very much kindness out in the wasteland." James said, as he shook Victor's hand. "Nice to meet you, though I don't proper know your name." Suddenly an alarm started blaring, and James thought to himself, "Some action, finally. I was getting bored."

"It seems I don't have time to learn it," James said as he took hold of his hunting rifle.

This weapon had served him well. He loaded it, and dashed out the door. The Enclave? Hadn't heard of them before, but the Brotherhood seemed to know of them. And sense they were attacking the base, it seemed that they didn't like the Brotherhood much. Eh, more to add onto the fee; that is if he didn't die.

Victor ignored the fact that James didn't know what a handshake was. He loaded a fuel cartridge into his flamer and ignited the pilot light. He released a wolf howl before following Connor towards the sounds of fighting.

"So James how many fights have you been in?" asked Victor. He unleashed a gout of flame towards a cluster of Enclave soldiers before ducking down again. "Which reminds me, Connor why did you tell him to mention me to the merchants. Why not you or the Paladin?"

Connor ran to cover while shooting a few lazer bolts towards the Enclave troopers left, not being killed, but injuring the rest of them that weren't already burnt into human toast. " It's because they only pay people who have somebody with them. Or they pay people who have a 'Head' in there title. The paladins are busy and I have to build weapons of what you're decrypting. " Connor answered.

The intercom buzzed to life again. " Code green. Attack is over. Enemy troops eliminated." Connor wiped his fore head and picked up a plasma rifle from the bodies. He put it on his back and walked back to Victor. " That's over. Now there's a caravan heading over to Vault (( Whatever number I posted it as.)). We're loading up on batteries and Vault gear, improving our standards. You coming?"

Clyde walked through the wasteland, looking for ghouls or other hostiles. He drummed his fingers edgily on his drawn service rifle when the sound of firing startled him. A large and conveniently nearby rock became his cover as he ducked down quickly. Peering over the rock, he saw Enclave soldiers being shot down by a caravan of Brotherhood soldiers and decided to creep his way closer.

Victor got up dusting himself off. Reaching into his belt he pulled out a replacement fuel canister for his flamer. He hit the ejector with his wrist before inserting the new canister and sealing it with a twist. "Wait is that the new vault that just recently opened" he asked Connor. He kicked over a corpse and slid a 10mm pistol from its holster. After giving a twirl Victor pocketed it. "I'm in on the caravan. i'm bound to find to find some good stuff down there." Victor ran back to his office to begin organizing a few things.

Pat sighed as he walked down the dusty old road, kicking a nearby piece of trash into a rusted old car. He was hot, tired, and his armor was starting to make his skin itch. They had been walking for a week now, following old road maps and signs that might not have even been accurate. The only thing that he did rely on was his compass, pointing him in the general direction of Steel-Rise. He had never been there but he had heard that they were hiring mercenaries and he needed the money. "What's wrong?" Sylvia asked him, knowing exactly what that tired sigh meant. She knew that he must be exhausted because he was carrying the majority of their stuff. He had a large pack on his back, which held all of their food, ammunition, and basic possessions. She, on the other hand, had a smaller pack filled with their lighter equipment. While she always objected to him carrying so much, he would never let her take any more than she already had.

"Nothing, it's just that we've been walking for a week now with no sign of life, let alone Steel-Rise. I'm starting to think that those directions were wrong." He picked up his pace a little, hoping to get to their destination a little quicker. As they continued down the road there were sounds of gun fire in the distance over the next hill. He looked over at Sylvia, back up the road, and then started to run. As he crested the hill he turned around with a wide smile, his hand up in the thumbs up motion. "Well it's about time!" He yelled down to the girl, waving his hand for her to follow him. She did just that, running up the hill and looking down towards the military base.

Chris had been leading the patrol of BoS, tasked to secure the surroundings of the base. He heard the alert from the base that it was attacked and headed out for it, but halfway toward the base they met two Enclave soldiers and an Officer. Raising his plasma rifle along his teammates, Chris threatened them. "Enclave scum! Drop your weapons before I evaporate you into dust!" Chris said, gesturing for them to drop their weapons. The people seemed to oblige and left the guns on the ground, and Chris took the plasma pistol of the officer, whilst the other two guys took the laser rifles of the Enlcave soldiers. Gesturing for them to walk to the base, Chris and his company arrived to the base, seeing Connor in front of it as well with another person, who apparently had a dog. "Hey Connor. I got these guys for interrogation." He said before pointing to the three Enclave before they were lead in by the two Brotherhood of Steel soldiers. "Who's the new guy?" Chris asked, passing the plasma pistol he got to Connor.

Connor grabbed the pistol and put it in his pack. " Thanks. And his name is James. He's a caravan guard." He noticed the company of BoS men and also the Enclave prisoners. " They're soldiers. Not scientists. Well... I'm not one to judge stuff that matters." He said. " We're going on a caravan. The new Vault has over excessive water and the Enclave is likely to take it. They're testing us to see who would be better suited for guarding them. The better get's better." Connor looked past the company and saw something out of place. It looked like two people but he often mistook them for cacti. Connor ignored them and waited for the paladin's response.

As they walked quietly down the even quieter street, Pat and Sylvia watched the caravan of BoS soldiers and their Enclave prisoners. Of course, being out in the wastes meant they were exposed to both of these groups, but being born and raised by the NCR meant that they weren't the most trusting. The huge suits of metal armor and the guns they had didn't help much either, but Pat wasn't worried. He knew that they would be friendly, and even if they weren't he had gotten in enough of his own fights that he could hold his own. Now he wasn't looking for a fight, just a cold drink of water and a nice, comfy bed. That was something he hadn't had in a long time, too long actually. He was getting tired of sleeping on the bedrolls they carried around and placed on the ground at night. He longed to be able to take his boots off, kick back, and just relax for a bit. What else could a man ask for? "Syl, once we get into town I think we should sell what we've found and just relax for a bit. You know, rent a room somewhere and catch up on some long lost sleep. Maybe find something to do for fun other than killing." He smiled, knowing that the younger girl didn't find as much amusement as he did in the taking of other people's lives. Maybe that's why he had joined up with that band of raiders, but that was all in the past. Right now all that mattered was the girl behind him and the town in front of him. As they finally reached Steel-Rise's walls and the BoS caravan, Sylvia took the lead. She gently pushed her way in front of Patrick, knowing he wasn't the most diplomatic of people. "Hello, would you gentlemen be able to tell me where the nearest store is? Or maybe somewhere to stay?" She asked, flipping some hair out of her face and batting her eyelashes a bit. Yeah, she definitely knew how to get her way.

"I'm back," said Victor walking up to Connor and the paladin. "Ah Chris what a surprise. I thought you were out on patrol." Victor inclined his head towards Chris in out of respect. Then he noticed a new set of people approaching. Outsiders and on the move for a long time. Victor grew excited, they were bound to have some salvageable documents on them. Even if they were copies they could be cross checked with others and any errors fixed or recorded.

"As is protocol, you are to hereby surrender any and all documents, papers, and other such items for inspection and archiving," excitement crept into Victors voice as he held out his hands like an expectant child. "Now don't be shy just hand them over and I can release you to my colleagues for further searching at their discretion."

As Victor says that and holds out his hand expectantly, Patrick gives him a slightly confused look. "Documents for inspection? Nah man, I don't have any useless papers. I only carry around useful stuff." Sylvia looked back at him and flashed him a serious look, along with an elbow to the ribs. She then looked towards Victor and smiled, blushing slightly. "I'm sorry, what he meant to say is that we don't have any special papers or anything. I'm sorry sir. What were you looking for anyway?" She looked from Victor to the other BoS soldiers, and then the Enclave prisoners. She thought they looked strange, but of course she was from a completely different group of people so she didn't judge. The armor did look kind of cool though. "And you're going to search us? Can't we just go in? We've been walking for weeks now, I just want to sell some of this salvage and finally get some sleep."

((Really short, but I just got done working a 12 hour day. I'm beat. ))

"Oh," said Victor disappointed. "Sorry bout that then. I was just hoping you had technical documents. What I mean is, oh heck. My name is Victor, I'm the Head Decryption Scribe for this outpost. Just follow the Guards instructions for surrendering you weapons, don't worry it's only temporary. Come on I'll escort you up, that is unless my comrades have anything else to add or say."

Victor looked up at Connor and Chris. He knew the Brotherhood was not exactly known for its warmth, but he was just a chatty type of guy sometimes.

" Not really. But then again, we were about to leave. Vault 55 ( or 44) is needing some parts to keep their food and water systems in mint condition. In turn, we're getting some blueprints." He said. He dug into his pockets and found a paper map of Steel-Rise. He walked over to the two, afraid that if he threw it, it would just be coaght in a minor dust storm." This is the only one of two that I have."
