it takes awhile, but it is mostly airbrush and low opasity brush work.

first I choose a base colour, for this on it was blue and then I choose colours that compliment that colour for the shades and highlights. I chose purple for the shades and green for the highlights.

 

I then use the colours with a low opasity (20%) brush and add the colours

 

I make a new layer and draw scales.

 

and then shade the scales.

doy you happen to draw dragon concept ideas? (Such as the metal-Wing, which you provided a sketch for.)

If so, I know what I'm requesting.

Well I have been trying and trying to get some art done... but I will be in WA for the next six days without my computer and tablet so any more art will have to wait . As soon as I get back I will endevour to put up a stream and some art!

Still working on sharlykng's request but I do have a little picture I was experimenting with. I was just fiddling with textures and the multiply function for this picture and I think it turned out alright.

The texture isn't very obvious for the scales; I had to squint to see it. Love the shading for the fins though

sorry for the lack of updates, I lost my "muse" (that is what verridith calls it) for awhile, but I have finally managed to finish Sharlykngs request!

I tried really hard to put more detail into my linework, but it didn't really turn out so good.

What is/are the character/s doing?: Wizard flies the dragon, cat sitting on shoulder.

Cat is a brown-tigered semi-longhair with one white feet (right feet). They try to catch a shooting star.

Mood of the piece: Magic

Type of picture: coloured. Surprise me with a color scheme. The dragon can yet doesn´t have to be dark blue.

The dragon don´t have to be a DC dragon.

I was only referring to the magic ornnaments the DC Royal Blue is wearing.

I won´t interfere with your artistic freedom!

The dragon should look friendly, relaxed, magical, wise and totally capable

of his goal.
