Posted May 9, 2015 When did you first realize what sexuality you were (whether you're straight, gay, bi, pan, ace, demi... etc)? Did you always know? Was it a crush or a first kiss? I always like answering this question (read: I like talking about myself) I've always found girls attractive. As a child I was mesmerized by the Disney princesses, by female celebrities, by the female figure in general. I thought girls were works of art, but I never once thought that I was different. I assumed that every "normal" girl felt like that. In 6th grade I fell head-over-heels for a girl (I didn't realize it was a legit crush until later). I adored her. I planned my entire day around how to get a seat next to her in class, or how to be on her team in gym. I was sooo entranced by her hair, her perfume, her smile, everything. And still I thought I was "normal" - I thought that's how friends were meant to feel. 7th grade - I read the Pretty Little Liars series. The way that the lesbian/bisexual(?) character Emily described her attraction to a female friend resonated with me so strongly that I had a panic attack in class while reading it. I realized that was how I felt about my female friend and that it was not, in fact, normal. So that was the moment I realized I wasn't straight, and after that I went through periods of ignoring my sexuality, trying to like boys, actually liking a boy, classing myself as bisexual, then pansexual, then technically-pansexual-but-mostly-gay, and now I'm dating a girl and laughing at the fact that I ever seriously thought I was straight =P Share this post Link to post
Posted May 10, 2015 I'm fifteen, identifies as female and my sexuality is... I'm a little stuck on that one. Never had crushes, my body does not react to anyone but boy do I like to stare. I've observed my friends' pimples, baby hair, eyelashes, whatever! And I stared at a senior for an entire year. My body is certainly not attracted, I just found her pretty. But then, I find everyone else pretty/cute. I would also like to look at the boys, if only they don't misunderstand... I read porn sometimes and in all honesty, it's for the plot. I would read till just before them having sex then immediately after. Because their actions always seem so generic. It's more original reading what's before and after. Sex is like a tool for reproducing for kids. I'm donning the 'asexual' crown till someone says otherwise. Regarding the awareness days, I wish my school tells us bout such things. It has been nothing but lessons for exams for the past few weeks. I have a friend that gets called both 'gay' and 'female' which he's not and I'm confused at how that works! About the 'staring' - that just sounds like aesthetic attraction, which is just when you find someone pretty but it's not associated with any desires. Asexual definitely sounds like it fits you great, but how you label is completely up to you. o3o You might be interested in looking around the AVEN Lexicon if you haven't seen it yet: http://www.asexuality.org/wiki/index.php?title=Lexicon Share this post Link to post
Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) when did you first realize what sexuality you were (whether you're straight, gay, bi, pan, ace, demi... etc)? Did you always know? Was it a crush or a first kiss? well for a long time i was really unsure. i didn't really experience any kind of attraction to anybody, but i think it's bcus i had never seen anyone who was my type. i was mildly interested in romance but didn't really feel a desire for it. it's kinda embarrassing but tbh i realized after i was introduced to a certain celebrity i was basically like "WHOA ok yeah im gay" and my gay has only intensified since then >____>; my romantic attraction is still always fluctuating tho Edited May 11, 2015 by Switch Share this post Link to post
Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Hallo all! This is my first post on the thread. ^^ I have a question aimed at everybody: when did you first realize what sexuality you were (whether you're straight, gay, bi, pan, ace, demi... etc)? Did you always know? Was it a crush or a first kiss? Hello! I'm pan, but I didn't know there was a label for it until I was twelve. I bounced back and forth between bisexual and asexual for awhile until I realized that my attraction was not limited, and did, in fact, exist. I kind of always knew I was queer, though. EDIT: Ahhhhhhh explaining to people my gender identity is sooooo stressful. Trying to explain that gender is a spectrum and where I fit, while also being asked about my plans for transition (and even what parts I have...) is kind of overwhelming. I'm pretty happy to answer questions, but it's still just hard. Especially when the people asking the questions don't want to know about life as a trans person. They tried to be polite but they were very blunt and it was like...bleh. </3 Edited May 11, 2015 by oddinomaly Share this post Link to post
Posted May 11, 2015 when did you first realize what sexuality you were (whether you're straight, gay, bi, pan, ace, demi... etc)? Answering this question because everyone else is. MY story is actually a lot like Glamoursea's is. I always had this attraction for boys but I thought it was completely normal. I started to realize that maybe it was not so normal around 8th grade, but even then I think I was more of a slow developer? When it really hit me that I was gay was in grade 10. We did a mini-unit in my English class on sexual orientation and gender identity. It wasn't extremely in-depth and mostly focused on some articles and short stories about issues rather than what all the identities were, although that was touched upon a bit, we didn't really go into the whole idea of gender and sexual orientation as spectrums. That unit was really what made me realize I was gay. Share this post Link to post

Not too long Anyways, yeeeee! Big win for equality! Though there will still be overly religious people, ignorant leaders and people squeeed by the idea, but hey, it can be enforced by law! Posted June 26, 2015 Heard about the ruling on our way back from camp, so we all had a little celebration in the car. Happy they made the decision! I was worried Kennedy would side with the repubs. Share this post Link to post
