Skye's head turned instantly at the smell of blood. The cage across from hers smelled of it. At closer inspection, she saw the gold hatchling licking blood from it's side. She growled to herself at the cruelness of the scientists. The little Daydream tipped her head to one side and spoke for the first time.in her life, "Are you okay?"

Kilf wandered around the room for a while, studying the badly painted walls and floor. She didn't pay much attention to the other hatchlings in the room for the moment. Something didn't feel right about this place but she couldn't put her paw on it. Suddenly her stomach growled and she jumped in fright before realizing what had made the sound. She blinked and looked around. She didn't see any other hatchlings around, but lost interest in that almost immediately. A scent caught her attention. She couldn't quite explain it but it made her stomach complain even more when she breathed it in.

Following it she found a metal bowl on the floor that was filled with chunks of red meat. It didn't take her long to figure out what it was and she scarfed down the food. She continued to lick the bowl once it was empty, sadly hoping for more. She turned and sighed softly, happy she had satisfied her belly. She headed for the door, hoping to try and find a way out of the room. She hadn't taken more than a couple of steps before a wave of tired dizziness swept over her and had just enough time to be confused before she passed out. The scientist who had been watching her entered the room once she was unconscious. Picking her up, he carried her back to the cages and stored her in one, placing more food and water before he left.

*~_~*

The tiny hatchling lay on the hard, cold floor of her cage, the remains of her egg scattered beside her. Slowly she opened her eyes and looked around at the cage she was in. She heard noises all around her, none of them familiar, and that's when she saw the strange pink creature just outside the cage.

"Amazing.. Hey, look at this!" said one of the creatures to another, "I've never seen one that looked like this before!"

"Yes, this isn't a common one, they are usually only seen during spring. It's called a..." the second creature looked at a strange white rectangle it was holding, "Ah, yes, here it is. A Rosebud. See there? On it's shoulder? I think that should eventually bloom when it grows. This will be a good study, we've never had one of these before."

The little pink hatchling looked up and chirped at the strange creatures. She didn't understand them, all she knew was that her belly was aching with hunger. As if they understood what she wanted, the scientist placed two bowls in the cage with her, one with food and one with water. Standing up, Laia moved slowly over to the bowls, first to the water to drink then moved to the food bowl and began to eat. She ate slowly and only managed to finish half the food before she grew tired, curled up in a tight ball and fell asleep.

{{ In my next post they'll both wake up and they can start interacting with the others. xd.pngIf the gold color is too hard to read, let me know and I'll take it off. Removed the gold color. }}

"Yes Tyra I'm still here." Ocius called back. All the events recently have happened quickly. He had hoped that what the other hatchlings did would not make the scientists be more cautious around them. He was getting tired of sitting in his cage, unable to do anything.

Ryder shifted and looked at the hatchling next to him- Moona. "You alright?" he asked looking at the blood. "They shouldn't do that, you know." he said approching her cage. He sniffed her claws. "It's gonna be okay though, we grow stronger from the experriance." he countinued. "But, we'll get outta here." Ryder explained, matter of factly, tilting his head to the side, so he could slide it through the bars.

Scarlett's head whipped at the sound of a a voice. She saw the little daydream and peered curiously at it. Scarlett's face lit up. "Ya... They do this a lot, they are always taking my scales." she sighed. "They take many all the time," She said, very happy to interact with another. The blood stopped and she lifted her head, "So whats your name?" she asked. When the small gold limped over to the other dragon, she relized they looked about the same age. "I wanna get out of here..." she countinued. Scarlett's eyes shined at the idea.

"im fine." Moona said."But i wonder what they need us for..." She continued. A Scientist dropped one of there papers of a lot dragons and it landed on Moona's head. She took it off and looked at it. "huh?" she said looking at it.

He nodded and looked at the papers. "Hey look at this!" he laughed. The humans scribbled on these- these- these..." he searched for the word. He scrunched his eyes, trying to decifer the lines. "Wow! Look! This ones a rock!" he said, pointing to a 'o'. "And look at this one!" he exclaimed, putting his claw on a 'J.' "That's a tail!" He jumped, proud. "I think they want to... uhm... uh... hit our tails with rocks?"

Vrael rolled back over onto his underbelly and slowly regained conscious. He slowly opened his eyes and waited for the blurryness to disappear. He opened and closed his mouth to regain moisture in his tongue and lips. Finally he stood up and stretched his body out, slowly getting a pleasant tingle along his spine. "That felt great!" he yawned

((Annie and Moonlight haven't escaped yet...not quite yet. Plus, both of the paragraphs about the dragons are from Dragon Cave.))

Annie awoke, and crawled out. The pink-skinned creature that lead the group that attacked her was changing her food and water. Annie tried to run out, but he grabbed her. "Stay here!" He seemed to growl, making Annie back away. A crumpled paper fell from his pocket, and Annie fixed it so she could read it.

Guardian Dragons(Anniena, Nadia)

Guardian dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Anniena guessed by the name beside the type that she was a Guardian, and tilted her head. It was written in the dragon language. She hid the paper in her eggshell and curled up in there.

Moonlight also got a paper thrown at her, only it was neatly folded. She unfolded it, and started reading.

Royal Blue Dragons(Moonlight)

Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Moonlight tilted her head, and read it again. She could read it easily, it was written in the language of the dragons. Moonlight hid her paper under her dishes, and got up. She then curled up near her dishes, and sighed.

((Why would it be written in dragon language? The humans can't speak or write dragon language. That makes 0 sense

Dragons can unerstand them because they are far more intelligent- i think

They might figure out how later on though...

EDIT: Wtver idk))

Ryder blinked and stepped back. "How do you know?" he asked her. Ryder sniffed the paper one more time and stepped back. "Maybe, if you can figure out what it says, then we could plan an escape!" he said gladly, leaning over Moona's shoulder. "That's weird! The humans are stupid!" He backed away and sniffed at his lock. Ryder scratched at it and got his claw stuck inside the keyhole. "AGH!" he cried, trying to remove it.

Moona looked at Ryder as he got his claw stuck. "My are too short to." she said. a scientist came. he saw Moona with the Papers."YOU!" he said. he opened her cage and picked her up. "W-what did i do?" she said shrinking back. "I thought that claw clipping would do it. but NO!" He said. "You'll have to survive the tasers now!" He said. "T-tazers? What is that?" Moona sputtered. "its the worst time of your life." he mumbled and threw her into Test Room A. lasers came out from everywhere, making her feel likle her skin was burning. "STOP STOP!" she sobbed."The tears!" A scientist said. each tear was like a blob floating and went somewhere. Moona was crying as the Lasers pinched her in every corner of her body. Her Claws were bleeding again.

-When Isthalas re-awoke her head was throbbing, her shoulder was sore and bandaged in soft white gauze, and the sun had finally set. Blinking away the drowsiness that came accompanied by a terrible spinning in her head, she slowly regained her full awareness and noticed she was back in her cage. She was fully awake just in time to see a new hatchling carried in from the training room she hadn't seen before and was beginning to catch up to the relentless on-goings of the lab life. A new dragon had been born according to the fleshy creatures prattling on and on about it's uniqueness and her senses picked up a wonderfully pleasant aroma from somewhere nearby. It was a nice change to the stale hospital-like air that circulated through the lab. While she breathed in the sweet scented air she picked up a faint trace of something else...it made her fangs ache.

Then it hit her. A bodily yearning that thrust her muscles into action and propelled her violently against her cage and made her shriek madly. Back and forth her body savagely whipped around and thrashed in a frenzy that can only be induced by bloodthirstiness. What she had smelt was one of the hatchlings blood, still fresh in the air, even if it was dry on her skin. Isthalas was scared, her mentality had been torn to shreds and what little bit of her mind that was 'hers', was tucked away in a corner and shivering out of pure unadulterated fear. She could only watch from within her mind's corner as her vampire instincts overtook her body and ravished what little was inside her cage.

After a while a few scientists came in and attempted to calm her, but being unable to get past her flashing fangs and dangerously sharp claws, they could not risk opening her cage and letting her loose. Eventually someone had to bring in a tranquillizer dart and after carefully positioning himself, fired one into her cage, successfully piercing her right flank and in less than a minute her actions became sluggish and she thankfully regained full control of herself. She did not fall asleep but she was unable to move, her breathing deep and heavy. In this state one of the scientist skirted around the one who had shot her and quickly went to her cage, opened it, and removed the dart from her side. This scientist was a woman, she had a cute pixie hair cut with gentle hands which ran the length of Isthalas' body in a soothing gesture. The scientist dispersed but the pixie one returned with a bowl of lightly dosed blood, and one of water, for when Isthalas could move again, enough to eat. She left with the damaged bowls and Isthalas never saw the woman return before her eyes closed to rest.-

((Dragons wrote the notes. I'll say more about them in this post.))

Moonlight noticed that where the letters were, there was no paper. She knew that it was made by a dragon's claw. Moonlight nodded, and gave a slight chirp. Meanwhile in Annie's cage, she had found out that the words were made of tiny scales. A Pygmy's, most likely. She licked it then pressed her shield on the paper, securing the scales and making sure they wouldn't fall off. She gave a slight chirp, hearing Moonlight, then put a piece of her eggshell over the paper so it wouldn't be seen.

((Ooooh~))

Ryder screeched through the cage as they took Moona away. "Moona!" he called. The distant echo of her scream shook him. His spine burned. She was the only friend he ever had. He started freaking out and yelling. Ryder pulled back to get his claw free, but instead it ripped off. Ryder screamed in emmense pain, and blood flowed from his wound. A small human skipped by his cage. Ryder hissed at it and it turned to him. "What happened to you?" He asked eyeing the lock. "Heeeey!" the human said in realisation. "Thats a no-no! You BAD BAD dragon!" The boy wrapped his hands around the claw and pulled. Unluckly for him, he twisted to the side and the lock clicked, the claw acting like a key. He was flung back by the opening cage and the claw went flying. Without hesitance, Ryder flung himself out of the cage and jumped on and over the boy. He screamed and started to chase him. Ryder wildly ran trough pairs of legs and grabbing hands. He whiped round the cages and followed Moona's cry as he veered wildly around the crowd. Then, just as her voice came from inside a door and scientist grabbed him. "Gotcha!" he laughed and pulled the schreeching Ryder back to his cage. The man threw him inside as hard as possible and smirked, "Your gonna pay for this, kid!" he yelled at the hatchling. Ryder's head ached from hitting the cage wall and he was very sad he had failed to save Moona. He blinked sadly, and then his eyes focused on something shiny. The claw! Ryder scrambled and reached it through his cage. He had it! He pulled back and hid it under his water bowl. Ryder then wrapped protectcively around it.

A small dorsal egg shivered in its cage, hearing voices that she couldn't understand. The small dragonling inside couldn't tell if it was safe or not to break free from her home, but it was so cramped! Her neck had started hurting hours ago and it only got worse the longer she delayed her hatching. The voices sounded safe, were they her mama and papa? This thought made the creature excited and start wriggling around. But the shell was thin and soon her forearm made a crack in the protective barrier that had kept her warm and safe for so long.

She whimpered, not truly wanting to leave, but the ache in her neck convinced her that it was for the better. She pushed harder along the crack, soon making a hole in the membrane. The dragonling's paw pushed harder, eventually pushing all the way through the egg shell and out into the cold, grey air.

The hatchling immediatly pulled her paw back in, not wanting to feel the cold air, but it made its way into her little citadel, chilling her and making up her mind. She rammed her head angainst the shell, making an audible crack that broke most of her shell away. The little hatchling continued on like this for at least thirty minutes, gobbling her egg shell along the way, her hunger giving her the energy to hatch. Finally, she plopped onto the metal that made up her cage and quickly turned around to finish eating her egg. But another smell attracted the little one and her nose soon took her to a small tray full of delicious smelling food. The meat smelled great! And soon she had gobbled up a considerable amount of this as well.

A pink creature had wandered towards her cage. Brown hair cascaded down its shoulders from its head. Big green eyes watched the hatchling as she stared back. The human girl wrote something on a card in front of her cage, but she didn't know what it was until the girl held it up for her to see.

"That's your name, see?" It said, in a voice that sounded like the strings of a harp. "It's pronouced 'Few-zchon'. Fusion." The human set the white card back onto her cage, attaching it in a place Fusion couldn't see. "My name's Emma." The pink creature with the brown hair smiled at her; Fusion tried to smile back. A larger pink creature who was covered in white cloth came over and put his hand on Emma's shoulder.

"What have I told you about messing with the test subjects?" It said, its voice was growly. Fusion didn't like this one, she hissed at it, flaring her dorsals.

"But, uncl-"

"No 'buts'. Out. Go to the secretary desk and doodle some ponies or something. Teenage girls are supposed to like ponies right?"

"...Fine..." Emma relented. "Bye, bye, little Fuse." She whispered before she left the room.

Fusion hissed at the scientist, he made her mama go away! But if this was her papa? She didn't like her papa... But maybe he was nicer than he first appeared. She was about to walk up to the front of her cage and sniff the man, but an overwhemling tiredness consumed her. She plopped onto the cage floor, hissing quietly. "Good, good. The drug is taking effect." The growly voice man said, seemingly to her. Fusion lay her head on the cage floor, wanting nothing but to be warm, to sleep, and to see her mama.

((Hope that's an alright first post. Didn't know how far we could go with interaction to the scientists.

EDIT: As a side note. Just to be safe, this was the only time I intended on using Emma, as an introduction and a way to give Fusion her name ^^'))

Tyra felt slightly relieved, hearing the pygmy's voice. "Ocius....Ocius, I'm scared...." she whimpered, her violet eyes glazing over with tears. Sounds of the other hatchlings reached her ears and filled her heart with sorrow. There were so many of them, all in bondage and suffering. She hobbled out from the corner, but kept the thin, tattered blanket close about her. She saw that Vrael was finally awake and she perked up. Somehow, she felt a little more relaxed around the other hatchling. Was it because they looked alike? Maybe they shared something more than just looks. She paused, glancing down at her injured right arm. Was that...an icicle? She gazed down at the frozen liquid in awe. Why was there an icicle on her arm? How strange...

One of the intern scientists caught notice of the young female hatchling. "H-hey! The female, she's beginning to get ice crystals!!" she called out excitedly, running to find another more experienced scientist. She fetched one and brought him to Tyra's cage. The ice hatchling's eyes grew very wide and she limped backwards as far as her cage would allow her. She made no noise, but her eyes told all. "Ah, I see..." mused the experienced scientist as he unlocked her cage. He chuckled as he grabbed Tyra, causing her to squeak in protest and fear. "This one's the easy one. She's so scared out of her wits, that she doesn't bite or scratch. However, she is a bit slippery and fast so whatever you do, don't let her go."

He turned his attention to Tyra and grinned wickedly. "Of course, we don't have to worry about that currently, do we Tyra?" he chuckled, lightly batting Tyra's injured arm and causing her to squeal in pain as he carried her to an empty test room.

Ocius did not hear her say she was scared, but he did hear the scientists start yelling about something. He then heard Tyra squeal. "Tyra!" Ocius called out, he tried to get out of his cage, but he was unable to do anything. He felt useless that he could not do anything.

The scientist holding Tyra stopped as he passed Ocius's cage. "Oh shut up!" he snapped at the pygmy, glaring down at Ocius. Tyra whimpered pitifully, her arm aching terribley since the scientist had agitated it. A couple small icicles were growing on her arm and other parts of her body. Looking at her friend, the ice hatchling let out a pitiful squeak, much rather wanting to be with Ocius instead of the horrible scientist.

Ocius tried to make as much noise as he could, hoping that the scientist would open his cage. He did everything he could think of. He did not want them to take Tyra away. He jumped against the mesh lining of his cage and tried to push through it.

((It sounded pretty great. ^^ However, I did ask UmbreWulf about roleplaying a human girl, a relative of one of the scientists, that was one of the only humans to befriend the hatchlings unlike the cruel scientists but she nicely told me no because it would ruin her plot twist and it's kinda against the rules of the rp. So, just wanted to give you a heads up. Lol, we both came up with the same idea. xd.png Great minds think alike! @CYDA LUVA83 ))

Juggling Tyra in one hand, the scientist banged his fist on the bars of the cage. "Hey, I said be quiet!!" he demanded, "you two are making such a rucus!" He pushed his wire-rimmed glasses up his nose, for they were falling down, and continued on with the distressed ice hatchling. She whimpered and gazed back at Ocius sadly before she disappeared down the hall with the two legged.

When the scientist banged on the cage, Ocius stumbled back. He had looked in the direction he had walked off in, watching him take Tyra away. He would have tried to get back to her, but knew it would be useless. He hung his head in defeat, and curled up in the center of the cage.

The scientist walked into Test room E and roughly tossed Tyra on the examination table, causing her to stumble and whimper in pain. Tyra knew the two leggeds got angry if you made a lot of noise so she tried to remain as quiet as possible. Maybe if she was obedient, they wouldn't hurt her so much... The scientist grabbed a few sharp looking steel tools and began extracting a few icicles from Tyra's body. She cried out in pain as he accidentally caught one of her scales but she bit her tongue and tried to remain quiet, a tear escaping her eye and trickling down her cheek. The scientist noticed this. Even though he really didn't care about the hatchlings, he became a bit softer in his movements in removing the ice crystals, wanting to encourage Tyra's obedience.

((My dragons are lonely. But Anniena has a reason! She's crazy, insane, annoying. Moonlight is the nice one.))

Moonlight got up suddenly, and started clawing the door. A small boy pink creature walked up to her cage, kicking it. "Why do we even bring dragons? They don't do anything!" He said, kicking Moonlight's cage again. A older, brown haired girl walked over to him. "Be nice to Moonlight!" She said, her brown eyes turning into a glare. The boy ran off, leaving Moonlight and the nice creature along. The girl bent down, looking at Moonlight. "You ok? I don't mean to scare you. I just wanted to save you from him." She said, smiling. "My name's Lulia. I'm a human." She said, and Moonlight just nodded. So those are humans. Well, she seems nice. Moonlight went up to Lulia, and rubbed her head against the cage bars. She had two reasons. One, her head was itchy, two, she liked Lulia. Lulia smiled and gave Moonlight a small bug, an fresh, alive one. Moonlight ate it, and tried to smile. Lulia giggled, then someone called her. "Oh! That's dad. Bye, Moonlight!" Lulia waved and walked away. Moonlight was amazed that she understood Lulia, and that Lulia was kind. She continued thinking. Moonlight then noticed that Lulia wouldn't be coming back, since she wasn't a scientist. Moonlight screeched, but the human was already gone.

Annie started ramming herself against the bars, only damaging her scales. She walked away, falling against the back. She landed with a thud, and fell over. "Help..me.." She said before blacking out.

Once the scientist removed most of the icicles from Tyra's scales, he examined her teeth and sprained shoulder. Tyra shied away from him sometimes but received a sharp reprimand for doing so. Taking a large file, he filed Tyra's claws down quite a lot, though he did not make them bleed. "Don't want you scaling anymore walls..." he muttered. When he had finished, he carried the ice hatchling back to her cage and dumped her inside. For her obedience, however, he tossed her a chunk of fresh meat which she gulped down in a hurry.

One of the scientists grabbed Annie while she was asleep, and tried to break her shield so she couldn't shield herself, but it was no use. He gave up and put her back into her cage, leaving her alone again. Annie stirred in her sleep, hitting the bars of her cage with her shield-tail but not leaving a mark on the bars or her tail. The water in her bowl stirred for a bit, splashing the ground. Annie continued sleeping.
