Posted January 19, 2012 Unless otherwise clarified, like for swearing, it shouldn't be linked or posted. So linking to ancient Greek art is out of the question if it contains nudity. I and a few others find this a bit absurd. If I can't even post links to those images I'll live since I've never had to before, but just for clarification's sake... Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 This sounds like it ought to be, thank you ever so much. I might even come back here more. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) Wait, wait... I know I'm extremely thick, but... is this saying that we can link to youtube now, as long as we say beside the link that the comments or the video itself may/does contain swearing worse than what the forum allows...? Edit: Because before I just linked to youtuberepeat if one of the comments containing cursing, because I'm 99% sure I've heard somewhere that if there's cursing in the comments, ytrepeat should be linked to instead. In case that post was confusing. As for everything else, thanks for the clarification. :3 Edited January 19, 2012 by TLOSpyrogirl Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 Great news. Thanks to all those who listened to and took user feedback into account, as well as a thanks to all those users who were a part of the discussions on the old-new-rules. I too hope to see some more livelihood in GD once more, if anything it should be a lot more relaxed to post in. Progress! -jazzhands- Share this post Link to post

If you read a warning and go to said link anyway, it's your fault if you get offended. /shrugs Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 yeah. I might actually come back. You better. I've not really gone back to GD ever since some people left. Share this post Link to post

If I can't even post links to those images I'll live since I've never had to before, but just for clarification's sake... It is a bit absurd, yes. Would it be preferred that I err on the side of ambiguity ("linking to some nudity may be allowed in certain contexts that can't be exhaustively listed;" essentially YMMV) instead? Because I thought that was the opposite of the point of clarifying the rules. Share this post Link to post

Thanks for the clarification, TJ! Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 I guess I'll just keep using repeat, then. Either way, if repeat bugs anybody, all they have to do is just take the repeat out of the address bar and there's the real video. xP Thank you. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 Okey dokey! Quick question- what about the "gosh darn it to heck" variations? I know I use flandarized language occasionally, so it'd be nice to know just how carefully I need to watch that. Oh, and the use of if you feel the need? I don't do that one often, but just to be sure. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) What about drug talk? And sex-ed? Also, what gets a warning and what gets you banned? Thank you for the clarifications! Edited January 19, 2012 by stogucheme Share this post Link to post

I don't think a situation like this has ever come up and you know the forums better than anyone else so anything you decide is fine with me. I don't know if anyone else is concerned about this issue (I may be the only one) but if you think there needs to be exceptions or if it's better to play it safe, I'm fine with it. I'd just like to know what I can and cant do on the forums in the future. Share this post Link to post

I'd just like to know what I can and cant do on the forums in the future. I'd have said that level of ambiguity was OK - and that anyone who finds a nudity link inappropriate should report it. If anyone reported a Botticelli nude link I would be very surprised.... stogucheme - I'd have said that the new guidelines were pretty clear - Adult material (Nudity, pornography, or explicit sexual acts) So sex ed as practised in schools would appear to be OK. Why anyone here would want to post anything more than that I don't know... Drug talk - Accounts of illegal activities Covers that. "Accounts of activity" is not the same as pointing out that skunk can lead to paranoia. Now this: Viruses, spyware, or malware I assume a thread like the recent one in Help where someone helped people to get RID of malware is OK ? Posted January 19, 2012 I assume a thread like the recent one in Help where someone helped people to get RID of malware is OK ? I had the sense that this meant to linking to anything that could give you malware, viruses or spyware; I'm sure tips on how to remove or avoid it would be fine. At least, that's my understanding. Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) You may find it great art, i might find it great art, but there are children that love dragon cave, surf these forums much faster than you or i, and are of an age that parents would be highly dismayed to find they went to such a link on a forum about breeding & raising cyber dragons. Museums are supposed to encourage children to come in and look at art - in the UK at least... Was more of a joke than anything else but if forum content is supposed to be PG-13 and no child under that age without parent permission is supposed to be allowed, then I don't see how the "It's for the children" statements are valid. I don't remember my mother screaming at the museum when, being 8, I saw several very famous and very splendid nudes in an exposition. Nor the mothers of all the other kids, nor was the school sued for perversion or anything of the sort. Maybe I'm just too liberal, but considering some of the discussions I've read... really, it's just a human body. I have to agree with Wookie, it's ridiculous. It's not po... not even artistic po.... (I've seen it, DA is of late plagued by it). It's just a body, at least a link should be allowed with a warning, just in case Michelangelo's David offends anyone with his auream attributes. Posted January 19, 2012 I THINK what TJ was saying was just - do I have to spell out that artworks are OK but a life drawing from your class of someone who others might recognise probably isn't ? Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 This is probably a stupid question, too, and I'm sorry if this has already been answered. I have a lot to do, so I can't look through all of the posts. x3 We're not allowed to talk about viruses, spyware, or anything along those lines, but are can we still mention them in explaining our prolonged inactivity or something similar to that? Also, I've never heard of youtuberepeat before. 0.0 Share this post Link to post
