WHAT THE HECK WHY ARE THERE RANDOM DARKER BARS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN OTHERWISE SMOOTH SPECTRUM.

Well, apparently, I have bad hue discrimination in blue-purples and a little bit in teals.

 

...I'm going to make my dad take the test now.

 

Retook it and scored 8. This time the errors were in the red-to-yellow and again in teal, and not to the same extent as before. Except maybe the teal.

@ grimace - I get the 2 in the second one and the 7 in the third one, but is there something to see in the first one? It simply seems to be random dots of varying orangy-rusty shades.

Interesting. I took this a year ago, and I got a perfect 0. I just took it again, and got a 4. I wonder if my colour vision has deteriorated, or if I'm just having a bad day.

I can't distinguish the first one. Perhaps my ability to see different shades of orange is horrible. Second one is 2. The third is 7.

I was an art major, though, and spend a lot of time now doing digital and traditional art.

 

I did read in an article that when using this test professionally, it's taken under very controlled conditions, that is, a set of identical monitors carefully color-calibrated, in a tent with specific spectrum lighting. There are tons of monitor and ambient light issues that could be messing with your score.

0 is the best score. It means you have good colour vision. The lower the score, the better.
