Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) I breed more than I collect, so I like lineages that I know I can continue. Long stairs are ok, but some of the epic 12-gen even-gen lineages? Uhhh, that's a lot of work to create a mate. And no matter how rare a dragon is, if it's got an arrowhead shaped lineage, I will throw it back, because there's no way I can continue it. I don't even know how to continue it, lol. I'll also throw away lineages that depend on a CB or single-gen Prize dragon (or Holly or Frill). I've caught a couple of CB Golds & Silvers, but I won't keep a dragon w/an impossible lineage. Posted November 11, 2014 Let me insert a question here I've wondered about for awhile - to most DC players, what is more valuable, a low-gen (2nd or 3rd) dragon, or one with a long, perfect lineage? Personally, I like the long-lineaged dragons because I figure they're harder to find... but maybe others prefer the low-gen dragons so they can work on their own lineage projects. I'm kinda new to lineages, so what do you guys think? Enlighten me ^-^ It's not that longer lineaged dragons are harder to find so much as you just don't see them being actively traded much. I personally don't think it's because they necessarily have a lesser value so much as that breeders are far more likely to simply give them away or swap for other lineages. This is doubly true for lineages that don't involve metals or other rares as their trade value is just so much more subjective. Myself, unless someone specifically requests one of mine I just breed and drop my lineages to the AP for others to find. As far as I can tell, most breeders do similarly. Many of mine wouldn't be possible without the generosity of other players; it just seems like poor taste to assign a value to them, for me at least. 2nd-3rd gen metals/prizes are basically currency around here, which is why you see them being traded for the most. Spend some time in the breeding subforum or on the AP and you'll find more gorgeous 5th gen+ lineages than you'll know what to do with. I can find dozens on a daily basis and end up throwing most of them back simply because I have too many projects of my own, but I do love to admire and draw inspiration from those AP finds. On the rare occasion that I do keep one for myself, I do my best to make a nice project out of it, like this. Both of the parents were AP catches. Or this one; I caught 2 2nd gens from the same breeder and made a pair out of them. Share this post Link to post
