I know mom is a Lumina...but that's the first time I've seen one with THAT color...

It's actually a perfectly ordinary lumina. Luminas are obsessed with being clean, so when they get something slimy on them, they pick all their scales off (for example, when bred with waterhorses or turpentines). In 24 hours, she'll be back to normal.
