What makes a dragon desirable?

What makes a dragon desirable? Ie., why do you pick up/trade/breed certain dragon breeds more than others?

For me, it's all in the sprite. I like rich colors, nothing too garish, and fierce or regal poses. It wouldn't matter to me if a sprite I really like was common as dirt, though there is a certain thrill in getting a rare, too.

If I like the sprite and the description, I like the dragon. If it's a common dragon, so much the better! I couldn't care less about rarity, except if I want to breed trading material. I voted for breeding projects because they add something to an already desirable dragon.
