Lineage Terminology.

Looking through the thread for mirror and it seems different people have different ideas on what a mirror is. I saw one calling this mirror http://dragcave.net/lineage/rdEnc, http://dragcave.net/lineage/g7IhG and http://dragcave.net/lineage/fRfIu and another calling these circles http://dragcave.net/lineage/h0Ncc and http://dragcave.net/lineage/GdGpA when I would have thought they were mirrors.

 

So maybe we can get a few more opinions on a mirror.

Well a mirror used to be just a perfect checker and a checker was anything with only 2 breeds, so apparently things have just changed. I see checker being used now instead of perfect checker, which makes the old checkers what, plain even gens? Gah.

To me mirrors are any lineage shape where the bottom half of the lineage is a mirror of the top half. So of the links ruby has, I would only consider the Terrae a mirror.

 

@Karobb - I think the checkers where there are only 2 breeds are called twisted checkers now. But I'm not sure if that's only for where the gender of each breed alternates in each generation and not for where the genders of the breeds are completely random. :s

I would call the first one a checker, just not a perfect checker, but apparently people have messed the whole thing up, so who knows.

 

The second one is a purebred even gen.

Yes, it is. The original Dorkface pair is just really far back there.

I don't know of any name for your lineage other than even gen but I replied hoping that others would look again and see if they had a name for it.

Well,as I replied to the other PM..I certainly DO appreciate ALL the hunting for a name that SHOULD be at least "listed in a 'off-center' terminology name" , or I would have thought at the LEAST,its got a type of NAME for a SIMILAR LINEAGE .

Oh well,anyone thats got any ideas,they are all greatly appreciated if they might give me an idea what to name this unique(but very do-able) lineage...a new creation would be fine...Ill take the credit & name it myself...the "Rockin Mystical" lineage or some such...*joking* (SORT OF) !

I may be a little late to discovering this thread, however,

I have noticed that "Mirror" usually refers to a Mirror Image or Reflection.

Therefore, only the Terrae: http://dragcave.net/lineage/h0Ncc

is actually a true mirror lineage.

 

Also, there seems to be Arrow-Head which would be your lineage:

http://dragcave.net/lineage/g7IhG. (going like >).

If it is going opposite direction (going like <) it is called an Arrow.

(though in another thread of terminology this is also called an

arrowhead: http://dragcave.net/lineage/jQrqp)

Ttinsels seem to have brought out the Comb-tooth (stacked going in

same direction) and the Zig-Zag (stacked going back and forth).

What you are referring to as "circles" I have seen more referred to

as Hearts: http://dragcave.net/lineage/fRfIu

 

Checkerboards discussion I have seen seemed to settle on a

Checkerboard being all males of one breed and all females of a 2nd breed.

An Alternating-Checkerboard was where the breed genders changed in

the second generation.

Perfect seems to refer to when a specific extra something is achieved in a goal,

according to the Even/Perfect Gens v5 thread.

 

I believe the answer to Rockin' On is that her lineage is a Chevron.

I believe that is a type of arrow lineage, not all that common tho.

Most of what I see called Arrows are two Stairsteps

joined together, opening the opposite of an Arrowhead.

to a "comb teeth" pattern. I am wondering if your lineage

is an example of that description?

I don't think it has a specific name besides uneven- Peanut M and Ms' lineage is a combination of 2 pennants (stairsteps bred together). But, This Is My Angry Face is a Gen2, and doesn't really match the mate's lineage.
