Posted July 21, 2018 Is there a collection of different even gen patterns? Theres the checker, purebred, and gaia patterns, as well as the lovely commons, but I don't know if there are any other named patterns. I had an idea for a thue-morse inspired pattern for two breeds, where the father is the opposite breed and the mother is the same breed, and I wanted to see what else people had come up with. Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) Thank you for pointing out those lineages. If there's not a database keeping track of this, maybe someone should make one. By "opposite" i meant the other breed. For example, in a dark lumina/ember lineage, if the father is an ember, the child would be a dark lumina, and vice versa. Your first lineage is actually pretty close, except instead of going x->xo->xoox->xooxxoox... mine would go x->ox->xoox->oxxoxoox->xooxoxxooxxoxoox... Posted July 23, 2018 I've never bred luminas, so I don't know how bad it is, but I like the lineage too much to care. I think I've come up with a catchy name for the lineage type, unilineal. Unilineal refers to inheritance systems that are either matrilineal or patrilineal, and since the dragon is always the same species as it's mother or father, depending on the lineage, I think it works. Posted August 18, 2018 I was going to say I did a project like that but derp, it's just a normal alternating checker. Still one of my favorite projects, though. I'm so happy right now. After ages of miscolors and no interest, I finally finished my last 4th gen on my nebula lineage, the aptly named The Long Road. Also bred a full set of 5th gens on the first go (with Fertility, which I only seem to remember exists for new pairings...), fingers crossed for the right colors. I am so, so close to finishing this lineage, which I started 4 years ago. Just 2 more generations to go! Share this post Link to post

Posted August 19, 2018 @Nerruse Ah, you just got to love Nebula, They're so tricky but nearly every lineage with them is just so pretty. And I also just remember fertility when I have new pairs (and even then I sometimes just use it when I absolutely can't have them refuse each other). I also wouldn't have thought that Sunset x Nocturne would look quite so nice together! Thanks to someone really generous I was finally able to breed this beauty. Additionally I finished this lineage. Posted August 22, 2018 I feel like any breed can look good in the right lineage. I don't think I'll ever do another neb lineage again though lol, this is way too much work. Posted September 9, 2018 Have you ever given up on a project? Because that's what I'm going to do - for the first time. In June last year, I caught https://dragcave.net/lineage/uKBLx from the AP and thought: "Well, that's nice - and as I have a CB Gold, I'll make a checker!" It's been roughly 14 months of regular breeding, and I just don't think I'll ever get a Gold. https://dragcave.net/progeny/Mj6rC (Aurab is my only CB Gold). I'll make one more attempt with a different mate next week, and then I'll try something that may actually be a bit more rewarding. And that's coming from a person who loves her Turpentine / Tan Ridgewing checker. Posted September 17, 2018 Hubby wanted me to announce he finally got his first (and maybe only) alt-black in his quest for and even alt-green and alt-black lineage. Started it years ago, couldn't get any alt blacks, gave it up for a long time, and is now trying again. One out of 154 tries...not good odds if you ask me. https://dragcave.net/lineage/oBlio Please wish him luck, I doubt he'll succeed if it takes more than 150 black eggs for each alt. Aurab has just blown his last chance of producing a Gold from Monarch with the different mate I'd promised him, but that means we're now free to try something new. Posted September 18, 2018 I really thought it was one of those code things. Like when they finally figured out that turpentines really wouldn't breed with whatever dragon it wouldn't breed with. It annoys me that I love the alt black hatchling look, but dislike the adults. And because of the rarity, I can't even try to persuade him to freeze it. He has a bunch of the alt greens already. Posted September 26, 2018 I'm well on my way to a large even gen, currently all still named with generic number names. Anyone have an idea for a naming scheme that fits 127 dragons?
