Posted August 15, 2011 I was just noticing I have several luck charms, not official ones but ones that I consider lucky because they've played a significant role in my life. Do you guys believe that simple charms can be lucky? Like a rabbits foot, I have one but to be honest I don't think it's lucky. My luck charm is a white king piece from my first chess set that my 4th grade teacher gave me. I won my first game with that piece. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 I have (well... had) a trio of lucky stones. A piece of lapis lazuli, a piece of pyrite, and a large piece of quartz with a swan engraved on it. The lapis and pyrite have gone missing recently, though >: I'm hoping I might find them next time I do a major cleaning of my room, but it's doubtful. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 I've had so many over the years, especially when I played more tennis, I just picked them up over the course of matches or tournaments - lucky socks, lucky breakfast, lucky ball, lucky hair tie, lucky number of bounces before a serve etc. Now though, I think my calculator might be a bit lucky Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 I guess you'd call this a luck piece. I carry a piece of opaline glass in my pocket (egg shaped), and have carried it for 8 years. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 Mine vary. Generally when I'm really nervous about going into some kind of situation, I'll put some little small trinket in my pocket and then I can reassure myself that said trinket is giving me good luck. So really, no. I'm just giving myself a placebo effect. |D Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 When I was younger, I carried around the cap of a pen for good luck. I won school contests and such with that thing in my pocket Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 I have a small lioness pendant that I wear all the time. I like to think it brings me luck. Although it probably doesn't. At the moment, I also have a lucky eraser. I dunno what I'm going to do when it runs out. o.O Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 Two. The first is my wooden cross from the La Verna Monestary. It has two doves on it, which I joked meant I had two 'saves.' A couple of days later the farm-house we were staying in had a partial collapse of the roof, and (without exaggeration) I was about an inch away from losing both of my feet when those heavy tiles crashed to the floor between my legs (I was lying on my front as we played a board game). So although I made light of it and went on to tend to those who had been injured, I was a bit shaken up inside - and very firmly believed I had just used up one of my two doves. I've taken the pendant off maybe four or five times in the six years since, and each time only long enough to go for a swim. Otherwise I wear it, day and night. My second is my sonic screwdriver which my mum bought me for a bit of a joke on my last birthday. I took it up Everest with me as my (more visible) lucky charm. I used it as a torch at night, especially after I lost both my proper torches. Ironically, on the day that I suffered from severe AMS my screwdriver died - no light, not even a glimmer. The next day when I recovered from the altitude sickness and felt better than I had the previous fortnight, the screwdriver sprung back to life stronger than ever. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 I've got a laminated four-leaf clover that my mom found when she was a kid. That and a few lucky cats. None of them are really truly lucky but I like having them. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) I have a few that I suppose could be considered lucky, although I'm on the line when it comes to believing in luck itself. The first would be the black swiss army knife I keep in my pocket at all times. (I live on a farm. We carry these things as a general necessity) It was given to me by one of my good friends when I lost my first one, which I'd had for seven years. I don't know why, but it makes me feel more comfortable when it's in my pocket. The other would be a large hollowed-out seed, from some kind of large fruit, lol, that my dad received in Hong Kong. It has many tiny depictions of animals carved into it, all hand-done; it's actually said to be a good luck charm where it's from. When he gave it to me it wasn't on a necklace, but since then I've bought a few green Swarovski crystals and made it into a nice piece of jewelry. ... I've not had any near-death experiences, though, so I wouldn't know if either of those things are lucky or not. Edited August 15, 2011 by digipup Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 I have a small, cheap circular piece of metal with a swirl inside that my mom sent me when I visited China in 2010. It came in a "Miss You!" card that she bought. The card talked about how it represented love for me while I was away in another country. I brought this piece of metal with me to Europe in 2011, and now I take it with me every time I travel. Posted August 15, 2011 My snake. He's extremely lucky. Whenever I carry him around, good things happen. Unfortunately he also scares a rather good portion of the people he meets, so he's not very good in social environments. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 16, 2011 I have a four-leaf clover, five-leaf clover, and a four-leaf attached to a five-leaf. I'm not sure if that's good or bad luck.... Share this post Link to post
Posted August 16, 2011 I've got several bags of trinkets scattered around the house... too muc h stuff to list, really. The only "real" good luck charm I ever had was a pewter griffin necklace that I lost a long time ago. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 3, 2011 I have like this necklace with a horse on it, and like on the back of the horse are the letters S.S and like I dont know when I remember to wear it I seam to have a good day. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 3, 2011 I have an actual rabbit's foot on a necklace, although it hasn't really brought me any amazing luck. Probably because I rarely wear it. >__> But I have a bracelet that my best friend made for me. Again I rarely wear it, but I was wearing it when I passed my driving test and wearing it again when I won £520 on some tickets at the club I work at. The following day I won £10 on the lottery. If I had something that I swore was my good luck charm then this bracelet would definitely be it. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 9, 2011 I have a necklace with a fairy on it that I consider lucky, if that counts. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) I don't necessarily believe in 'lucky charms' themselves, but I do believe strongly in the power of attribution and belief: if you believe something will have a certain effect, chances are it will. That said, when I feel like I need a little help to keep the day going, I swear a ring that looks like a dragon's tail (the strength of a dragon) to remind me I can make it. Posted October 9, 2011 I have one charm, if you can call it that. The triquetra, a Celtic symbol for trinity. I put this symbol on my tests, my homework, and sometimes if I write notes or letters to people, I draw the triquetra next to my name. I also sometimes carve the symbol onto candles I burn. One of my favorite bracelets is a leather one with a wooden piece on it. On the wooden piece is a triquetra. I also plan on getting a triquetra tattoo sometime in the future. :3 Share this post Link to post
Posted October 10, 2011 I don't believe in luck. That said, I have a 7 leaf clover somewhere and for awhile I wore a guitar string bracelet because it was the only thing I had to connect me to a special someone... and I lost it in Nashville >.< life just sucks hard on my end Share this post Link to post
Posted October 10, 2011 My appendix is a good luck charm I carry with me. So far it has not exploded, given me sepsis, or tried to kill me-- I consider that lucky. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 10, 2011 I don't consider them lucky charms, but being in possession of certain sentiments provides me a sense of security. I have a yellow & red bracelet my boyfriend made me the day we started going out, and I haven't really taken it off since then. I also always tend to carry around this leopard shell in my hand at school, but I don't know why. Share this post Link to post
