Posted August 14, 2011 I like anything that looks nice, pretty much - lots of different things can look nice, so... if I like the way it looks, then I like the way it looks. I've been toying with a few ideas for a patterned lineage myself. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2011 I love criss-crossing even gens, like this: http://dragcave.net/lineage/R1XCh it just looks so awesome <3 I also love the stairstep and checkerboard lineage. It just looks so cool o.o Messy lineage is fun too just to see all the random dragons in the family! Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 While I've never been a big lineage person, I really love even-gens which have naming... something. I'm not sure what to call it. Ahh... Image example! And then even-gens with lots of holidays, especially spriters alts. I'm not sure why I like those, they just feel sort of special. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 ...I'm a fan of anything thought out and well crafted. I usually do checkerboards: http://dragcave.net/lineage/mXp1 but sometimes I do purebreds with naming: http://dragcave.net/lineage/viNjc I love when I see lineages where someone else has clearly put thought and effort into creating the perfect mate for their dragon, or has been struck by inspiration for their naming scheme (like the screencap Stealthypugs posted). A little effort elevates to being more than simply collecting, and with the way breeding goes these days... it isn't easy to craft just the right mate, especially for a higher level even gen! Posted August 15, 2011 I love checkerboard and ones like this: http://dragcave.net/lineage/IvpQD where holidays are in the first generation and the rest are a common breed. that is just awesome I voted other that I forgot, I like a combination of some mentioned like others said, it depends on dragon used etc I am new to even gen always heard of it but never really wrapped my brain around it Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2011 I like both checkerboard and PB with gender dimorphism. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 16, 2011 I don't actually mind if they have gender dimorphism or not, my overall favourite are even gen pure breds - which the vast majority of dragons on my scroll are. The exceptions being dragons such as Blunas, Geodes and Shallow Water. Also, my metallics and my very first two dragons (Frills). Also, I have trios on my scroll that aren't pure bred as I bred them prior to the change whereby I could bred Ice x Ice, etc. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 19, 2011 I'm glad to hear so many players like variety as well as or more than PB. So far my only checkerboard is this Spitfire/Skywing. I'm also working on a Stone/Sunstone checkerboard at the moment but usually I like the mixed varieties best, like this AP find or *gasp* my highest even gen so far (9th!) which I traded for. Posted September 6, 2011 I love checkerboards. They're just so beautiful to look at. Here is an example of one that I bred. I was so lucky to find the orange mate in the AP! Share this post Link to post
Posted September 6, 2011 I love all types of even-gen lineages, but one of my favorites would have to be an "arrow" or zigzag even-gen. Example. I just need one more 2nd gen to get the mate for him. I'm also very proud of my 8th gen mixed quarter-thuwed holiday-filled Tinsel. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 6, 2011 I love Even Gens. I'm not too fond of PB Even Gens for reasons already stated. Kind of boring. I like it when it takes a long time to plan out a specific pattern for an Even Gen. Checkerboards are OK, but I like 'different' patterns. Like maybe 3 or 4 types of breeds incorporated in a lineage with a specific pattern. I love it. For example: This and This. (Yes I know I show them off way too much but I just simply adore those two lineages). Share this post Link to post
Posted September 26, 2011 I like the naming scheme best. All my black's have the prefix "Infernal" to their names and, one of these days, I'm going to take all my blacks and create a total Infernal even gen world. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2011 I saw the title and was like "How many kinds of even gen can there be?" and then I saw the poll. I'm pretty much lenient for all lineages - so long as it looks good/pretty, I'll like it. Having obvious themes, matching colours and complementary species are always pluses. I've always really liked even-gens with the spriter/holiday alts in the first gen. Eventually hope I'll be able to score some pretty eggs descended from the ribbon dancer spriter alts, for one. :3 The only thing I'm not too fond of for even-gens is extending lineages of 7th gen+ dragons, for obvious reasons. It gets a bit too hectic trying to find a suitable mate/build a lineage. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2011 I don't have a favourite of even gen lines, I just enjoy even gens if they are purebred and there is no inbreeding. I have a few lovely even gen lines of my own. This one has some spriter holiday ones in it's lineage http://dragcave.net/lineage/V89XQ This one has holiday alts in it http://dragcave.net/lineage/79lD7 I have even gen splits. But the only even gens I have with a naming scheme of any type ( beyond my silver tinsel who has the Dr.Who names in it) are my pillow dragons which I put sheep into their names somewhere like this http://dragcave.net/lineage/2nYo7 Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2011 I like naming schemes best, but only when the scheme isn't based on a repeated word. That gets monotonous after a while. I prefer names that are just thematically related somehow. Really, I like almost any kind of even gen; it's too bad polls on this forum can't have tickyboxes. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) My favorite kind of even gen is staircase . Ortion - don't like even gens at all. Edited September 27, 2011 by Viar Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2011 What exactly is a checker-board pattern? (A possible link to a lineage please?) Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2011 Here's an example. It just means that you have males of one breed and females of another, so the lineage looks kind of like a checkerboard (emphasis on "kind of" since checkerboards aren't triangular). A variation is to swap breeds in each generation, like this. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2011 I like purebreds in general and some checkers. I also really like putting two different purebred lines together to make the lineage look half-and-half. x3 Really though, I just like cohesive colors. I'm not into really mixed up lineages. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 28, 2011 Purebreds, with or without dimorphism. Cool names are a plus. Share this post Link to post
