yeah, so, I thought I could make art thread. dont shoot me! I wanted to do this so I could get better at drawing. I would like some crits and tips to how make it better.

 

 

some examples (will add more when I can):

angel (I saw this one in church, so I tried to draw it when I came home)

black alt hatchling

finished version of black alt :3

 

 

so, what do you think? im trying to paint pictures I draw on GIMP, but I cant make shading there, no matter what D: made my first digital art im very proud of it! (the black alt hatchie)

1. Glamour (pillow, ridgewing or nebula hatchie.)~ almost done, only need to upload whaen I have time

 

it would probably take me about 3 days for digital, 1 for lines. it can take more/less though

PLEASE poke me or something as much as you can. rushing will make me draw request better, and it will probably look even better than if I do it for weeks and months <.<

And might I suggest using the burn/dodge tool on GIMP for shading? It's what I started to use after I had shading issues, helped me get the hang of it.

 

And the digital art is great. That draggy is so cute. <3

Your art is very cute, and that digital turned out very nice!!

Honestly, I would suggest Easy Paint Tool SAI for drawing. Though it isn't free, you have a 30 day free trial and it's kinda easy to cheat the trial. ;; You can still use the program after the trial is up, you just cant save so you printscreen instead.

 

I'd like to give you some honest critique though.

It looks like your images have no distinct light source. The shading + highlights wouldn't be possible in a real-life situation. A tutorial like this should help ya a bit

EDIT: Scm: I could put you on waiting list. I need some practice with digital I guess. can you describe a dragon a bit more? like general looking (horns, wings etc). also, do you want it to be 'made' of much rubies or just to be like one ruby itself? /fail

 

and that drawing could take pretty much time to draw.

you want the dragon to be made of several rubies, right?

and can you maybe describe the dragon a bit more? like, does it have horns, wings, is it wywern or eastern or western type, what the tail looks like etc?

I would like one of the following, whichever one you want to make, because I can't make up my mind!

- a Pillow dragon, if you can handle the fluff

- a Ridgewing (I don't think color or gender makes a difference, since it's lineart)

- or a Nebula hatchling :3 gendered, ungendered, either way is fine

All of these are slightly more difficult than what you've been doing, so I'm not asking for anything ridiculously detailed and fancy- don't kill yourself, okay? 83

and when we are at sketchess, I finished the ruby dragon. going to scan it now. its just 'test' though. I wasnt sure how to make it =/
