Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) About the honey: the only reason it does not spoil is because when bees collect the pollon from flowers, they go back to their respective hives regeritate the pollen, eat it again and regeritate once again to get it into honey. So basically, it's bee throw up Incorrect, honey is like wine, only you are fermenting necter and not grapes. and random facts about the process ~bees have two stomachs, only one will actually digest food ~queens are made by a special concotion known as 'royal jelly' ~the type of flower will influence the color of the honey ~lighter honeys are typically sweeter but have little honey taste ~darker honeys will have more honey taste, but will be less sweet or bitter ~this logic does not hold with purple honey ~Drones are male bees and cannot sting you ~Drones also get fed by worker bees at any hive ~Drones die off in the fall, because the worker bees stop feeding them ~there are people trained to be able to identify the flowers used to make honey just by taste ~Smoke does not cause the bees to become lazy, instead it tricks them to thinking there is a fire around so the workers will fill their second stomach with honey in case the hive has to try to escape ~bees can't see red but can see ultra-violet Edit: FYI I'm a beekeeper Edited August 22, 2012 by brairtrainer Share this post Link to post

(glucose crystallises, fructose doesn't) Share this post Link to post

Posted May 27, 2013 In NYC, it is forbidden by law that a horse eats a hydrant. Only 1 in 10 people struck by lightning die. -Only 1 in 10 get away without permanent injuries -There is a man who was struck by lightning seven times without permanent injury. In the UK lives a man called Clive Wearing who has no memory past the last ~30 seconds. This happened because of a brain disease which was treated just in time that he didn't die, but it left him being unable to remember anything. It is fascinating and unsettling at the same time.
