Posted November 19, 2011 Well, Wiki has this to say about the actual Tinsel used as decorations:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinsel That said. . . why not call the common successes 'Garlands' or 'EsTin' or 'PVC' dragons? I would suggest 'pyrite' or 'fool's gold' but I think there's already a suggestion to make a dragon breed of that name. I'd also suggest 'Aluminium', but people would probably get confused and think we're talking about shiny metallic or metallic-like dragons. I'm not sure if this had been talked about, or suggested, since this discussion thread turned into an exchange thread. But, here's my two cents. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 19, 2011 I used the term Tinselkin in the first post, and it seems a number of people do like that name for them. It is an accurate description, as they are related to a Tinsel and it avoids the negativity conveyed by tinsel-fail. I have actually taken Tinselkin one step farther on my own scroll, referring to them as "Selkin" and using that term in many of their names. The original intent of the thread was simply to find better name, but it immediately attracted everyone who felt as I did about these little beauties, and most of the discussion about them gravitated here. I am pleased that it became such a generous forum for everyone who loves a Tinselkin. <3 A very funny side note: While I had a few Selkins when I started this thread, I had no Tinsels at all. I now have 32 Selkins and 9 breedable Tinsels. While I have bred, gifted and traded a few Tinsels, they have yet to produce a single Selkin for me! What are the odds? Share this post Link to post
Posted November 19, 2011 *Chuckles* It's a perfect name for them. I'll keep it in mind for my non-Tin-babies. Speaking of which, would this little cutie count as Tinselkin? http://dragcave.net/lineage/TodcW It does have Tin ancestry. . . Share this post Link to post
Posted November 19, 2011 I generally use the word "Tinselkin" ^.^ And I'm pretty sure that is an indirect tinselkin. ^.^ Share this post Link to post
Posted November 19, 2011 *Chuckles* It's a perfect name for them. I'll keep it in mind for my non-Tin-babies. Speaking of which, would this little cutie count as Tinselkin? http://dragcave.net/lineage/TodcW It does have Tin ancestry. . . It has two lines of Tinsel ancestors, Penk and Darkrose. The closest Tinsel is a grandparent. I'm willing to say Tinselkin, but others may want it to have one Tinsel parent. Does anyone want to vote on this? Share this post Link to post
Posted November 19, 2011 I caught my first Tinselkin not to long ago and let me just say, I did not influence it... But it makes me happy all the same. =3 Share this post Link to post
