Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Dragons of Light and Darkness Plot The dragons of Light and Darkness have lived in peace with each other until eggs and hatchlings started to go missing. The dragons didn't know who or what was stealing their young, so they blamed each other. They fought, turning the beautiful meadow they used for a battle field into a horrible landscape. The fighting subdued for a little while, until more eggs were stolen, and it started up again, worse than ever. Now a small band of young dragons, some just winged hatchlings, are trying to find who or what is stealing the eggs and hatchlings so they can stop the fighting. They call themselves The Shadows, and they meet every sunset at an island in the middle of the lake, and they discuss ways to end the fighting. Some brave warriors set out to search for the egg-stealer, but some of them never came back. Rumors of them circulate every clan, but only those who wish to join them search for them. They are still parts of their clan and are loyal to their clan. There have also been sightings of dragons that just don't seem right. They are called The Lost, and they talk funny, and do stuff that no normal dragon would. Some dragons say that they are the egg-nappers, but the fighting has never stopped. Some dragons say that someone is controlling them, and they were once normal dragons. Some think they can be saved, and others say there is no hope for them. They belong to no clan, and never seem to want to join one. Now it is time for a new generation of dragons, but what will you do? Will you join the The Shadows and save Artaria, or will you be a normal dragon in a clan? Will you create a new clan, or will you join the Lost? Whatever you do will affect the whole land of Artaria. Clans There are two main clans, The Light and The Darkness. Dragons generally join clans according to their personality and whether the prefer night or day. Blacks, Sunsets, Nocturnes, Night Glorys etc. generally join The Darkness, and Whites, Daydreams, Sunrises, Day Glorys etc. generally join The Light. Each clan has its own Crystal, a large gem created when a clan is started. Shards of the Crystals are broken off and when a dragon joins a clan, a shard is planted in their forehead. The shard will not come out unless the dragon joins a different clan or they join The Lost. Neither clan is good or bad, but new clans that are created during the role play may be good or bad, but The Darkness tend to be more serious and violent, and The Light are less serious. You may create a clan, but you must PM me first, and I will not accept new clans until we have enough players in each main clan. Ranks Alpha: A pairing of dragons that lead the clan, they are always mates. If one Alpha dies the other retires and the Betas become the Alphas. Betas: A pair of dragons. Second in command to the Alphas. The Alphas pick them. When one Beta dies the other retires. Gammas: The hunters and warriors of the clan. They mentor apprentices, and must be fully grown. Apprentices: Winged hatchlings. When a hatchling flies for the first time, the Alphas choose a mentor for him/her. A dragon must be a Apprentice to join The Shadows, since hatchlings can't reach the island. Hatchlings: The youngest dragons of the clans. They cannot leave camp unless accompanied by a apprentice or a gamma. Omegas: The lowest ranking of a clan. When a dragon joins a clan, they become an omega. Omegas can leave camp, but they are monitored with suspicion and whenever they leave without telling anybody, the dragons around them get even more suspicious of them. Landscape The role play takes place on the continent Artaria, which is about half the size of Canada. Artaria is almost split in half by a huge fresh water lake. On the north edge of the lake is the Battle Grounds, a flat meadow where all the dragons fight the main battles. Of course, skirmishes often happen away from the Battle Grounds. Away from the battle grounds, it is mostly forests and mountains. The Light's camp is on one side of the lake, and the Darkness's camp is on the other side. The Shadow's island is in the middle of the lake, and The Lost's base is rumored to be somewhere in the lake. Artaria is snowy in the winter and gets between moderate and heavy rainfall in the summer. In the winter it is often -30c and in the summer it is often 30c. Artaria is prone to flooding in the summer, but this is no threat since both camps are on high ground, and hatchlings are always accompanied by an gamma or apprentice. The only threat it could be is for lost hatchlings and apprentices that are breeds with no wings. Rules 1.PM me forms. 2.No killing another person's character without asking them first. 3.No begging someone for their character to be your character's mate 4.No Ooc arguments 5.Put "Lost" in the "other" section of your form in blue. 6.I prefer posts to be at least 650 characters long. If you are in a conversation they must be 300 characters long. I will accept writers block as an excuse, but not for every post you write. 7.No more than 5 characters per person 8.Scratch that, put "Lost" in red 9.Keep everything PG 13, and no swearing. 10.No powerplaying, godmoding or auto-hitting 11.No perfect characters 12.You must eventually join The Lost or The Shadows 13.Have fun. If you disobey this rule I will kick you out of this role play Other NPCs are allowed. Just don't use them to attack another person's character. I will accept wyverns with arms. When one of the Alphas died, the Betas moved up to Alpha, and she and her mate (whoever wants to be her mate) were picked to become the Betas. Personality:She is always trying to stop the fighting, but will attack The Light if they threaten to attack camp. She is also very protective of hatchlings and apprentices. It was an hour before sunset, and the had to get a move on or they would be late for The Shadow's meeting on the island. Two more eggs had been stolen just this week, and Lost dragons had been spotted flying around the mountain that The Darkness' camp was carved into. More eggs and hatchlings were stolen every month. Dragons guarded the camp 24/7, but it was useless. The guards would suddenly fall asleep, with no warning, and when they woke up, not long after, more eggs and hatchlings would be gone. Star sighed. Would they ever win the battle with The Lost? She shook Xaril. "Wake up. It's time to go." End Star. Sol: Sol looked up at the sky. The sun was going down, and it would soon be night. Night reminded him of her. He would never see her again, if he could help it. Unless it was in battle. He hated her, and her whole clan. They dared call themselves a clan! It was weak. One day he and his clan would destroy her clan! Maybe they would team up with The Lost. They seemed so powerful. But who were The Lost? They couldn't be the egg nappers, because she and her clan were the egg nappers. They claimed that they were losing eggs too. But The Light had never done such a thing. Maybe Sol had wanted too, but he hadn't. Maybe The Lost were stealing The Darkness' eggs. End Sol. Dawn and Dusk: "Fly!" Dusk screamed. "I am flying!" Dawn yelled back. "Well, then fly faster!" Dusk yelled. The grizzly bear that was chasing them was gaining. Who knew bears could run so fast? All they had done was steal a little bit of the rabbit it had just caught. Like the whole thing. But it was not happy. Dawn and Dusk dodged trees, but the canopy was too thick and they were going too fast for them too fly upwards and escape the bear. They started to go uphill, which made it harder for the bear to run as fast as they could fly. The bear kept chasing them until it got tired and decided that the two troublesome hatchlings weren't worth it, and it would be best if it reserved its energy for chasing things it could actually catch. Dawn and Dusk, panting flew higher up the mountain, but slower, to make sure they were safe. Then they stopped at a dip in the mountain, filled with dens and a pile of food in the middle. They had flown into The Light's camp. End Dawn and Dusk. Spel: Spel stretched as she woke up. She had had a busy day, planning stuff with the rest of the uncontrolled Lost. It was too bad they hadn't caught the loner hatchlings and their parents. The parents were struggling too break free of the spell that controlled them. It would be much easier to keep them controlled if their children were with them. Spel crawled out of her den, and looked over to the pile of food in the center of the camp. It was small, and the food in it going stale. She grumbled and grabbed a rabbit off the top. She crawled back into her den to eat in peace before she had to fly to The Shadow's island to find out what their plans were, and maybe give them some false information. End Spel. Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) Kerry woke up with a yawn, realizing it was almost sunset! "Oh-my-god! It's nearly time to go! I've thought about this stupid project all day! Anyway, Time to go!" He flew off to the secret island. He had serious intel to tell the leaders of The Shadows: He had a serious hunch there was a spy for The Lost among them! And he thought hard about who it might be... "Hmm... I just realized that whenever we follow Spel's 'intel', it always turns out to be false! I think I'll follow Spel to see where she goes.... He blinked as he recalled the missing eggs and hatchlings. So many lost...Lost. A brief moment of anger came over his features, but he calmed himself down. Posted July 23, 2011 Teiyos awoke by the waterfront with a groan and a headache, probably due to the fact that she had overextended her search will into the day the day before. The green dragon stretched her limbs and gave her wings a few test flaps. It would be yet another day of scouring the large body of water before her, she figured she was getting close to the middle, another day or two of searching might bring her too it. Looking around she took in the scenery to see if anything changed during her sleep. Nothing seemed amiss, the large pile of boulders she had shoved into place as a land marker looked undisturbed as well. Satisfied, Teiyos nodded to herself and began the hunt for food. ------------------------------------------------- Marlin woke early that day, he heard munching but was far to groggy to care for now. The Nocturn's den was set will into the stone so that the amount of time he spent exposed to the sunlight was minimized. He sat and waited for the sun to retreat completely. Posted July 24, 2011 Aera: Aera flew to Sol, as she noticed that something was wrong. She sat down beside Sol and looked at him. After a while, she asked:,,What's wrong, Sol? Are you ok?'' She looked at the sky too and tried to figure out where he was looking. She lay down and started to speak:,, Is it about her and her clan?'' __________ Soul: Soul landed on a big rock. The rock was very warm, the Silver felt. He layed down and looked at the sky. There were already several stars. He waited a moment, then he stood up and flew back to his clan. They must be stealing them so they can create a bigger army. Oh, look, what have we here?" Sol noticed Dawn and Dusk sitting on the edge of the camp. End Sol. Star: "Okay, well, get moving!" Star was grumpier than normal today. She was tired of doing everything she could to help the clan, but getting nowhere. She crawled out of the den and blinked in the remaining sunlight. The sun was such a bright, greedy star. It hogged the whole sky in the daylight, and blocked out all the other stars. The night sky was much more beautiful than the daysky. A thousand beautiful points of silver across a black background, or one, painful to the eyes, bright, fiery ball against a blue background? No contest. End Star. Posted July 24, 2011 Teiyos had caught herself a doe, not as large as she would have liked but it would suffice until lunch. The sun was still falling into the background so she doubted her other clan members back home were up just yet. She watched teh sky as she ate. The red clouds and the silver twinlking lights the poked through them every now and then was as lovely as ever and perfectly reflected on the water before her. She finished her meal and gulped down some water before spreading her wings good and proper-like. Three bounds, two of which were in the shallows and she was off to the air and once again scouring the lake for...anything unusual. She had figured the base was in the lake a long time ago believing that the best place to hide something like a base would be where people wouldn't try to look for it and since there was literaly no where to land in the lake as far as she had seen it seemed like the perfect place to hide. Unconventional maybe but then again what about the lost was normal? -------------------------------------------------------------- Finding himself unable to fall back asleep in his den Marlin growled in discontent. The sun seemed to refuse to leave the end of his den so he called out to the one that was already up and munching away. She stretched her Wings to the nightsky. ,,I'll go to sleep, ok? Good night.'' She turned around and went to her sleeping berth. She layed down and fell asleep. ________________ Soul: Soul was sleeping... He dreamt a strange dream... He was alone, in a very dark forest. And some dragons were after him. He ran and ran but he couldn't escape. He were caught and killed. He woke up. It was such a scary dream, that he couldn't fall asleep. He sat there, in his doss and watched the sky. Posted July 25, 2011 Zashia heard the other beta and woke up. "Why dose someone need to give you food? Your a male go hunt for it your self..." Zashia said turning over and breathing out a puff of bright blue fire. She then realized that the sun was still up. "Sorry... Never mind..." Posted July 26, 2011 Marlin was about to argue back but Zaisha realized why he had asked for some to be passed down before he could say anything. He simply let a slight chuckle escape. He sat quietly as he watched the light of the sun fade away from the clouds. it wouldn't be too long before he could actually get outside without freezing up. A memory of the last time he was caught in the sun popped into his head. he was a hatchling with wings he had just learned to use and early that night he went out to fly, unfortunately he wound up getting caught in the sunlight in mid flight and he fell to the ground. It was a good thing he wasn't up high. A second laugh escaped him as he recalled how long he had to wait for the sun to go down good and proper. When he wa done reminiscing he looked over at his mate, the sleeping hellfire next to him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She was now surrounded by water. Teiyos looked about but still nothing, now islands not...anything, another fruitless pass over the lake. She hadn't expected to find much but she always held out a candle of hope only to have it blown out time after time. it was a bit depressing but she started this sweep swearing to herself that she would find the Lost hideout and by god she would. Posted July 26, 2011 Xaril followed after Star and sheilded his eyes from what remained of the light. Blinking again to try adjust to it, he stretched his wings, careful not to hit his mate. Then, Xaril ran and jumped into the air, pumping his wings and flying towards the Shadows' meeting place. He looked back to see if Star had caught up. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 26, 2011 Star Star rose up into the air. "Let's go!" She rose joyfully into the air. She skimmed over the lake, letting one claw touch the water, sending up a spray. End Star. Sol Sol looked at the two panting hatchlings. "Well? Do you want to join The Light, the best clan in history? We could use some more young warriors, like you. We have to battle The Darkness, who are stealing our eggs." Sol waited for their answer, wondering what it would be. End Sol. Dawn and Dusk "Well..." Dawn said. This clan looked great. Why shouldn't they join? "Can I speak to my brother for a bit?" Dusk asked. Sol nodded, and dawn and Dusk padded away into the trees. "I'm not going to join The Light." Dusk decided. "But we have to!" Dawn wailed. "It will be much safer. And we would have more food! And training! What more could you want?" "But I don't want to join them." Dusk replied. "I don't know why. Maybe it's just because they sleep at night and are awake the whole day. I'm not going to join them." "But I won't join The Darkness!" Dawn said. "Maybe there are some other clans we could join?" Dusk asked. "Okay," Dawn said. They walked out of the trees. "We have decided not to join. I hope you'll forgive us for intruding on your territory. We will leave now." Dawn and Dusk said in unison. End Dawn and Dusk. Spel Spel licked the last of the rabbit off her lips and grumbled about nocturns. She tossed him a rabbit, aimed at his eyes. She took off towards the island of The Shadows.
