The Power Inside

“Fine with me.” Arden said in response to Imari’s ‘request’ “I’m not exactly a fan of washing toilets.” She picked up her pace as Ciel had started leaving without them. “You coming? Monster Man is leaving without us. We wouldn’t want to end up like Sheep and Scarhead now, would we?” She smiled jokingly, waiting for her classmates to catch up.

Haruhi giggled at the girl. "I haven't learned your name yet." She said to her. "Everythings so crazy, we'll end up calling each other by the names Monster Man gives us." She giggled again, happy that she could make friends. She waited for the others to catch up.

Eventually Ceil came to another stop. This time there were two doors on either side of him. Once the majority of the students were within earshot he began to speak.

"This is the kitchen" he said pointing to his right. "And to the left the eating area. We have no household staff here so everything from cooking to cleaning has to be done ourselves. I'll let you lot sort out a rota up between you in the morning, although I will warn you not to eat Noland's curry. That man does not know his way around food."

Gwen's shoulder's sank with disappointment. She had always kind of liked curry. Perhaps she would be allowed to help and kind of prod this Noland in the right direction?

Haruhi looked at Gwen and patted her back. "Why are you dissappointed?" She asked her. "Is something wrong?"

So it's cooking and cleaning for everyone... Strange school

"At least I know how to cook"

"All righty, lord, I'll be off then. See you later!" Merric said to Jyeh as he left his office and went outside. He went to pack some stuff and a bit later he stood outside in the middle of an empty field. He moved his hand to his chest and yelled "Auster! Com'ere, Hawke!" and moments later his oldest friend landed next to him.

The metallic looking hawk looked at him as Merric asked him: "Whadd'ya think, Hawkey-boy, we need to get to Zedih Myrk quickly. Think ya can still carry me?" Merric made sure his shoulderpads were on good. Boy's talons have grown lots since last time he carried me, don't want to get hurt.

Lisa blushed slightly at Artur’s reaction. “Of course.” She answered quickly. With Lisa about to offer him something to drink, the priest continued talking. A smile started growing on the girl’s face as she realised what the man meant. He was a summoner! And he was here for her. This was soooo cool. Her hand went towards her chest and she whispered, “Jorda.” Out of the ground a wolf appeared, and Lisa bent down and scratched her fiend behind its ears.

She looked up at Artur and Sprite. An idea came to her, and before she even had time to think, she blurted out, “Will you train me?” She quickly froze and stared down at the ground, her cheeks beet red. “I... I mean, only if you want to...”

Artur smiled again when the Wolf appeared and laughed when he heard the girl's request of training. "Ahahaha, I'm not nearly fit enough to train you, little girl. Besides, I don't even know your name yet. No, if you want training, I'd suggest going to the summoner's school, that's where I went to at least. They teach you how to use your powers there way better then I ever could. If that Jyeh is still the same, he'll probably send one of his guys to pick you up soon. He has his ways to find out where summoners are..." Artur remembered how some soldier whose element was Darkness picked him up at the orphanage and started feeling bad for the girl. But there was nothing he could do once Jyeh found out about her.

Selphie looked at Gwen. The girl seemed a bit upset. She walked over to her.

"Anything wrong...?" The girl on her other side mentioned that she could cook. Her eyes lit up with interest.

"Oh, can you really? I can't really cook much other than a few pastries, and even then it's a pleasant surprise they don't turn out to be burnt."

Arden smiled. “Arden Lilyana West, at your service.” She bowed, jokingly and looked up at the girl. “May I ask your name?” She straightened her back and stood up again, following their teacher. She listened to the teacher explain how the kitchen was run. They had to cook their own food? “Dibs on making anything that does not involve heat.” She muttered. Fire seemed to be quite fond of her, and Arden burned absolutely everything. It was actually quite annoying. At least her salads where okay, though. If she ever got stuck living alone she could just eat that. Without crotons. She would burn the crotons if she tried to make them.

Kaylee sighed and sat down. "Great, I'm on bad terms with the teacher AND I have to clean the toilets... What fun." she whispered quietly. Now everybody was going to call her 'Sheep', and she absolutely hated it. "What a wonderful first impression. But it was worth it." she said, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her head on them, waiting for Wes to come out of the infirmary.

Haruhi laughed at the girl who was now standing with her and Gwen. "I helped my mom when I was younger, so I have some experience. So mostly everyone wont have to worry about burnt food." She smiled shyly. "I'm Haruhi... It's nice to meet you" She said at the girl and at Arden smiling again.

"I think I know how to work out how to make a rota with the cooking. All the students in the school who can cook can take turns making food for everyone else, then the others who aren't so great at cooking can help those who cooked that day clean the dishes."

Diana put her hands in the pocket of her hoody, sighing. Normally she was quite a social butterfly, but it was different here. Ever since the arrival of Ciel, she'd felt aggressive and unhappy. He's done this to me. She glared at the back of his head, and wanted to rip it off when he mentioned having to do everything themselves. What kind of school expected them to do that? They'd be tired and busy enough from training, and adding on these duties would only make it worse. Angrily kicking the floor beneath her, the teen almost cursed at the pain.

Jyeh watched Merric go, waited a few minutes and then pulled open his desk drawer. Reaching in he pulled out a picture of a dark haired man and put it on his desk. Staring down at it he reached for his pen and began to draw a moustache and horns.

((Yes. This is the most powerful man in Wyhdori))

"I just like curry, that's all" explained Gwen. "It be awful if someone messed it up. I'm not too good a cook but I can make a few dishes."

Ceil rolled his eyes.

"Okay before you lot get to work on the next month's menu I'll finish showing you around shall I?"

He pushed his way back through the students and started walking back the way they had come.

"Meh meh mehmehmeh..." Haruhi mocked after Ceil was some distance. "I hope his fiend EATS him." She said.

"I know... when someone messes curry up its not tasty. Maybe when we make curry you should help Gwen." Haruhi smiled

"It's nice to meet you too. I'm Selphie." She returned the shy smile.

"The one art I was bad at...was cooking. But I can, um, draw th-things pretty well, and er, sc-sculpt." Selphie stuttered.

"It's okay if you can't cook. Like I said, those who cant cook can help clean that the work is less and that it goes quicker." Haruhi said to Selphie.

"Sorry if I'm controlling... I'm never like this. I think Monster Man is letting my competitive side show."

Diana watched the other girls chattering away about cooking. Rolling her eyes, she began to walk again. She hated to cook with fire, but a microwave was fine. Cold food was something she specialised in, like food made with bread. Generally, she could make good food without an oven - things like salad were easy to make. Perhaps it wouldn't be too bad when it came to her turn at cooking. It would be cold food, albeit good food. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad here... But Diana needed allies. Who to ally with?

"Uh, that's okay. I thought he was" She leaned towards Haruhi and whispered, "Mr .censorkip.gif?" She let out a laugh and steadied herself. "But Monster man does fit him well." "And I won't mind cleaning the dishes."

"We call him Monster Man... Not Mr. censorkip.gif. It's our name for him." Haruhi smiled again. "He is very monster like... All creepy and scary... and rude." Haruhi giggled a bit. "That's good... but we need all students to agree on that idea."

"Um" said Gwen hesitating. "We're getting left behind again."

Unlike Ceil Gwen didn't want to simply push her way past everyone, but she was stuck at the back now. She could no longer see Ceil's retreating back either.

"Oh! You're right!" Haruhi said when she heard Gwen. "Better get moving! But the others have to go..." She crossed her arms and tapped her foot while waiting.

Imari walked along with everyone down the hall. Ceil told them where the kitchen was and where they could eat. She was still looking when her stomach growled. She felt kind of annoyed with herself. Just the mention of the word kitchen her stomach goes and growls. As Ceil shoved between the students she got a bit angry for the shoving. Soon Ceil almost started to disappear when Imari called out.

“We’re loosing him! Move people!” she said trying not to sound rude but she didn’t want to get lost in the end.

“I’d say I can cook, the only problem is that I burn everything. And I mean everything. Flames are a bit too fond of me for me to become a great chef.” She chuckled a bit at herself, remembering some of her cooking incidents. She really did feel sorry for those cupcakes.

“Meh meh mehmehmeh..." Haruhi mocked after Ceil was some distance. "I hope his fiend EATS him." Arden laughed. “Personally, I don’t. I like believing fiends actually like their summoner. Makes me feel slightly better about bossing Red around.” She smiled a bit, thinking. “I wonder if Monster Man is too big for Blaze to eat?”

"We call him Monster Man... Not Mr. censorkip.gif . It's our name for him." Arden laughed again, hurring along so they didn't fall too far behind. “Maybe I should take over Monster Man’s nicknaming job? I did a good job naming him didn’t I?”

Wes laughed as Ceil stormed off. I knen that would come back and bite me. But that was so worth it. At least I could say what everyone was thinking. He turned his head and looked at Rosa.

"Crazy isn't he?" He shook his head. He was not looking forward to cleaning the toilets, but Ceil started it. The laughing had taken his mind off his injury for now, but the pain started to rush back to him. "So can you help me out here a bit?" He had no idea what she was going to do, but Wes hoped that it did not involve stiches. He could not stand them. They drove him crazy the firsrt time he had received the scars and he picked them out in the few days afterward. He hoped that the healer would also be nicer than Ceil. He already had enough to deal with and another rude, arrogent person would be too much.

"Ryza likes me a lot, but it was hard getting him to be obidient... Luckily he isn't a huge fiend, but he isn't small either." Haruhi smiled. "You named him after my joke of calling him a monster, Arden, don't forget it." Haruhi heard Imari's stomach growl. "We'll get this tour over with then we can eat." She said to Imari. "I'm also getting hungry. We better get moving." Haruhi smiled and started walking.

"Oh, right!" "Let's get going!" She hurried along the corridor with Haruhi.

As she walked along the hall, she noticed Arden. "Oh, hi Arden." She smiled.
