Skyla woke up suddenly, hearing Ty tell everyone to start running. She got up, stretched out her tired muscles, and took off at a slow jog, and gradually got faster, following Ty so she didn't get lost. She was surprised how running was quite easy for her. She didn't think she really did anything to excersize her legs before, besides playing with her brothers when she was a pup. They would run around the house, chasing eachother and barking and jumping on one another while their parents just watched, and their owners laug- Skyla shook her head. She can't be thinking about her old life, they had abandoned her in the woods, like a piece of trash.

As the sky gradually began to lighten, Victoria lifted her muzzle to the thick smog that hung above the city's horizon. The faint golden tint of the clouds was enough hint that night had ended, and soon the heat of the day would be pouring down upon them. She was glad Ty was smart enough to have them train and exercise in the early hours, when the blistering heat wouldn't interfere with their work.

The slender silver dog rose to her feet again and inhaled deeply, her eyes on Ty as he prepared to speak. As her orders were delivered, Victoria immediately took up a quick trot and pushed (although not unkindly) through the throng of dogs to find Roe. When she had spotted the Beta female, the tall Rhodesian came to a stop a few feet away before slightly inclining her muzzle in acknowledgment.

(( I thought we were in October? Wouldn't that make the weather cooler?))

(City smog tends to trap heat and make things really hot.

Edit: And where I live, October can still be ridiculously warm.)

((Depends on where you live. In the state I live in, early fall has a distinct crisp coolness to it, even in cities. smile.gif ))

Wind ran until she found a street with no annoying dogs or other problems. She found a large cardboard box. One of the benefits of being small was that you could sleep almost anywhere. She curled up, and quickly fell into a light doze.

Skyla looked around her as she ran about the junkyard, old couches, broken recliners, tables, and so much more flooded this massive area. This really was a dog's paradise. While she was paying attention to the things around her, Skyla didn't notice the large rock in front of her, and tripped. She luckily regained her balance and didn't fall. The air was slightly chilly, which felt nice as it nipped at her nose while she ran. She was becoming tired, but she continued on, if she was going to be of anyhelp to the junkpack, she needed to train as hard as she could.

((*Trots happily back into the story* Apologies for my absence))

Roe blinked a little blearily in the morning light, she was stretched out on one of the buses back seats. Now normally she didn't sleep in the bus, after all it was Tys den, but Roe had been with Ty practically all her life and she knew what night it had been. So she had asked if she could join her brother for the night so she could make sure he was alright and so he wasn't alone.

Trotting off the bus, she stretched and yawned widely and for once her belly did not burn from hunger. She had taken a small group out hunting last night after all the drama and they had been quite successful, managing to bring back a raccoon and several rats, they had also come upon a family of almost grown cats, it had taken the whole hunting party, but they had managed to separate three of them. Their bounty had been well received.

Roe sat and curled her tail around her legs, enjoying her brothers influx in alpha energy. Whatever Ghost had said to him had pulled him out of his dark spiral. Her thoughts were still on the female when Ghost approached her.

"Ready for patrol?" she asked thought it wasn't really a question.

Ty ran faster, lapping some dogs. He slowed when he came to Skyla, slowing so that he was in-step with her. He noticed some other recruits slowing, getting tired. Skyla seemed to still be going strong. He couldn't help but feel pride as she ran. He grinned and sprinted forward, playfully challenging her to a race without needing words. The chain clanked against his chest, a gentle reminder of his loved one. He would let her go now. He would always love her, but no longer would she haunt his dreams or cloud his thoughts. She would be with him always, a silent shadow. Ty strove onward, finally noticing the turn that was too close for him to make. He leaped into the air, sailing over the fence and landing on the other side. He was out of the city now, a small grassy hill before him. He climbed it, reaching the top. A sharp was blowing across his face. He would have a future. A future. Not a past. He would never be able to bring Sasha back. Nothing could help that, why be stuck on it? He sat there, staring out at the clouds, not caring if someone joined him.

Skyla grinned when she saw Ty dart passed her, challenging her to a race. She sped up, trying to catch up to Ty, but he was too fast. She saw a fence coming up ahead, and Ty jumped over it with ease. "Oh great, how am I going to do that?" Skyla thought.

She ran faster, and when she reached the fence, she lept as high as she could, just barely clearing the fence. When Skyla landed, she looked back at the fence and smiled in triumph. She turned back around to see Ty sitting on a huge hill, staring thoughtfully at the clouds. She slowly climbed the hill and sat next to him.

Ty smiled as he sensed Skyla's presence. "You cleared that well. Most of the other recruits are on the ground, panting. You're good," he said, noting how the morning's sun reflected off her pretty coat. "What breed are you? You've got great endurance," he said, his eyes thoughtful. Skyla was a pretty one, for sure. He wondered if she felt the same as him. His brown eyes met hers, a softness replacing the normal hard edge that all-too-often resided there.

Coruki noticed that Skyla and Ty seemed to be racing and hurdle jumping.

Alright Coruki, show them what you got!

Coruki sped up and tried to catch up with them but they had too much of a head start for her. When she was in range, she barked at them. "Hey! Wait up!"

Jumping over a fence, she observed the surrounding of her new home.

"I'm a German Shepard, I think." Skyla replied, out of breath. She looked over at Ty. He was a very good looking dog, to say the least, he was healthy, strong, and... actually very nice. Her eyes slowly met his. There was something different about the way she usually saw him look at people. The usual hardness in his eyes was gone, and they now looked... soft and thoughtful. She quickly looked away. Her stomach felt fluttery. What was this feeling?

Zara met Frost's unflinching gaze with her own defiant stare. She hated when people talked down to her, even if it was the alpha. She especially disliked threats. Zara was pretty sure we could handle Frost in a fight. Even if she couldn't, she was up for a good brawl. "What in the bunny whiskers are you doing?" Zara thought to herself "Your getting ready to challenge your alpha! Cut it out!" Zara held her tongue, something she rarely ever did, and instead asked Frost politely if she would like to hear the information she had gathered on her expedition. She tried to convince herself that Frost was being merciful. After all, Zara had made an atrocious blunder, and Frost wasn't even punishing her. Zara wasn't so sure though. She hated the uncertainty she was feeling right now. It made her feel weak, and if there was one thing Zara wasn't, it was weak.

Ty smiled, standing up and hesitantly brushing up against her. He hadn't felt this in so long. Was he really falling in love all over again? Just yesterday he had been in mourning... Yesterday was yesterday. Today was now. He licked Skyla's cheek, his brown eyes filled with concern. What if she didn't like him as he liked her? He suddenly turned, his eyes taking on their normal edge. There was another dog down there. What if they saw him? So what? What if they did? What did he care? Skyla was the one he loved now, he didn't care who knew it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Alright, go ahead and tell me. It better be good, beta," she snarled, her eyes deadly cold. She sat back on the sofa, regaining all composure and elegance there was to be had. Frost held her chin up, not showing her curiosity the slightest bit. But Frost wanted to know, wanted to know terribly. "Get on with it. I want to know. Now."
Skyla smiled shyly when Ty licked her cheek. She now knew what the fluttery feeling in her stomach was, it was love.
Skyla was confused when Ty twisted his head to look at the fence. Was he scared that someone would see us? She glanced down towards the fence and saw what made him turn his head. There was a dog sitting right outside of the fence. Skyla stood up and started to walk towards the dog. Has she been watching us the whole time?
Zara began to share her information quickly to appease Frost. "I wasn't there when our pack was driven out by those fleabags, but I don't believe that much has changed. They are living in a junkyard across from an old office building. The alpha male is a Doberman Pinscher. He has not yet taken another mate. It also appears that they have been recruiting new pack members." She paused to carefully watch Frost's reaction to this statement. "They are all frightfully skinny though. It appears that food is scarce for our mangy enemies in the Bonelands," Zara finished mockingly.
Ty brushed up against Skyla as he walked down the hill, curious to see who the dog was. It was the border-collie, Coruki. Ty walked in front of Skyla, the hard edge clearly written all over his eyes. "Well? What you looking at?" he barked, his eyes narrow slits. He knew he was being overly protective, it was just his instinct. Skyla was his now. Coruki couldn't change that, no matter how pretty Coruki might be.
~~~~~~~~~~~

"Beta. Have you looked around? We too, are frightfully skinny. You and I not so much, but we're also the alpha and the beta. Food is scarce for all of us. But I'm pleased with your information. You've done well after all, Zara," Frost said, her voice silky. In truth, Frost was very pleased. She had learned quite a few vital bits of information.

Skyla felt Ty brush past her as he walked out in front of her. She looked past him and saw that it was Coruki who had been sitting there. What was she doing here?

Skyla trotted past Ty, brushing up against him as she walked by. She wanted to know why Coruki was here.

She slowly walked up to Coruki and sat in front of her. "What are you doing here?" She asked Coruki happily. She didn't want to sound mean, she was just curious.

((Where is the Shadowpack territory?))

Luli licked her lips as she swallowed a sausage. "Delicious," she said to herself. Guessing that Snips and Kaden hadn't been very successful in their food search or else they'd be back by now, she saved the rest of the meat for them. Quickly glancing around to make sure no one was near, she stashed the food in a secret spot that they had picked out to store scraps when necessary. That would be the first place they would look when they got back if they hadn't found anything on their own. After she had made sure that the stash was well hidden and it's scent masked, she walked out of the alleyway. It's quite a nice day out, she thought. The cool air swept lightly down the street, rustling her fur slightly. Still haunted by her recurring dreams, Luli decided to try to take her mind off of it by getting some exercise. So trotting down the street, she took a route that she knew would get her to the city park. On a clear day like this, she knew that many people would be out with their dogs, so she would be less hassled by the Animal Police.
