"Good Job, Pansear," Serena called out as the attack hit home. Pansear waved back at its trainer giving the Sentret time to get in an atttack. Serena shook her head; she was going to have to work on that, it was great that her Pokemon wanted to please her but getting distracted in battle was not OK. The little pokemon picked itself up an dusted itself off and prepared to follow whatever order its new mistress would give it next.

 

"She quickly slipped on of the pokeballs that Professor Pine had given her out of her bag. "Pokeball , go!" she cried as she tossed it at the wild pokemon and crossed her fingers hoping that she would make her catch.

"Yeah, we just got out of the lab," Madison said, grinning brightly. "And I guess a battle would be fun, I need to see what Snivy can do. What do you say, Snivy, you up for it?" she asked, looking back at the little grass pokemon.

 

Snivy nodded, setting herself in front of the Mudkip and staring it down, only just resisting using Leer on her own. She had a trainer now, and she had to at least give the girl a chance at calling the shots.

"Away we go, then." Diomedes grinned. Mirk had already weighed up its opponent; It was fairly relaxed, an attitude it gained from its trainer. Serious people made serious mistakes, and neither Diomedes or Mirk could be bothered with them; be it a wise outlook or a lazy one. It was also quite the psychological weapon. Nothing was more irritating to determined, confident people than someone who wouldn't take them seriously. "You first, ma'am~."

[Dr. Paine]

"Huh, guess someone can actually tell," Madison said with a grin, tugging her hat down to a more secure position.

 

"Alright then Snivy... start with Leer!" she said. Snivy gave an affirmative nod, looking rather pleased at her trainer's choice. The grass pokemon looked at the Mudkip, amber eyes going red as she glared it down, advancing a few paces forward just to add to the intimidation.

woshiico0kie ~ As soon as the Poliwag noticed hostility from the floating green orb it hid itself beneath the water avoiding the attack. When the Psywave was gone Poliwag reappeared in the surface and jumped on top of Cyto by using it's tail. Poliwag began jumping trying to cause some damage to the psychic pokemon by doing so...

(Poliwag won't use any move since at this level the only thing it knows is Water Sport, which, well... does nothing )

 

LeopardDragon ~ The pokeball hit Sentret on its back and a red ray of light dragged it inside. The pokeball closed and began shaking with the button in the middle turning red from time to time. Having recieved a little damage, then Sentret was able to easily fight the prison and escaped from it. "~tret!" the creature cried standing on its tail trying to show its strength. Noticing the Pansear was still on fighting stance Sentret used its tail to impulse itself and land another Scratch at the fire monkey and turned around, now facing the female trainer that had tried to capture it earlier...

Mirk remained how it was, relaxing through the standoff and making no visual acknowledgement of the effects of it's opponents Leer. Diomedes remained just as calm, watching carefully as Snivy advanced of its own accord towards Mirk... And into much easier range. After the Snivy's last step, Diomedes cleared his throat - all the sign Mirk needed. Leaping forward with ferocity unseen in his previous stance, Mirk Tackled forward into the grass-type pokemon at near point-blank range, using Growl in quick succession to compensate for the lowered defensive abilities.

(Wait, I don't think you're allowed to pull two moves at once like that... o.o. Well, it does make some sense x3. Anyway.)

 

 

 

"Oh..." Madison winced slightly as she witnessed the attack, it looked rather painful. They weren't going to give up yet though, neither one was going to let their first battle end in failure.

 

"Come on, Snivy, you can do it! Get it off and start tackling it!

The growl took Snivy by surprise, providing enough distraction for the tackle to hit home, and she was easily knocked to the ground. However, she immediately began to fight back (though not as well as she would have liked, as she was still a little shaken from the growl), trying to push the Mudkip off of her, still leering at it the entire time.

((Depends on which battle system we're using. Guessing isn't wise on my part, but I assumed more anime-style, pelting attacks at eachother in reasonable doses. xP))

 

Wrestling a moment against Snivy's attempts to usurp him, Mirk near enough left himself open. "Focus, Mirk! Be attentive!" Diomedes called to him, the Mudkip leaping away from Snivy - using it as a platform to jump from - and taking position by the gnarled roots of a tree, using Growl again as it focused its will in an attempt to shrug off Snivy's Leer.

"I'll let you pick first if you want to catch one." James offered.

 

"Nah." Jayune replied. "Do you want to catch one? I think they're pretty much ready to be caught."

 

Sandshrew was still next to the flightless pidgey. "Scratch again Sandshrew!" Jayune commanded. "I think we've got 'em!"

James just smiled at Jayune when she told him he could take his pick which one he wanted to pick. He had his eye on the pidgey as he took a pokeball out of his pocket. "Ok, here I go." He said as he threw the pokeball at the pidgey and watched as the red beam shot out of the pokeball and pulled the pidgey into it. This whole time Phanpy kept his eye on the patrat to make sure it didn't try anything, but it looked like it was done.

[Dr. Paine]

"Come on, you can get it!" Madison cheered. "Just don't listen to it! Now tackle it, got it?"

"Sni!" Snivy cried out, getting back to her feet and charging at the Mudkip. The tree might be useful for it to run up on and land a high attack from, but it also left itself open to being rammed into the tree. Which was what she was aiming to do.

Diomedes grinned. "Mirk, now! You know what to do!"

 

Mirk glanced to its trainer, nodding, determination visible in its eyes. Returning to face Snivy, it took a raised position, as if about to bolt up the tree, but as the Snivy closed in, the Mudkip ducked and lunged forwards, lowering its center of mass and tackling Snivy's underside, throwing it into the air.

[Dr. Paine]

(You may want to ease up a bit on Mirk getting every hit in, you know. At least leave some opportunity for a dodge or lessened attack, that's what I've been trying to do. It makes things fair.)

 

Snivy landed rather unsteadily, looking a little woozy from the attack. But she was still standing, and looked rather enraged.

 

Madison, however, looked rather concerned. Snivy's tail leaves were beginning a droop a bit, and that couldn't have been a good sign. But... well, if she still thought she could battle, then she could.

 

"Alright, come on! Get him when he lands!" she shouted. Snivy nodded, and rushed towards where Mirk would land, intending to take the moment of disorientation for all it was worth.

Rainbow_Joy and monkeyboy225 ~ Sandshrew's Scratch anded directly over Pidgey's chest causing the bird pokemon to fall to the floor finally defeated and helpless to defend itself. The pokeball hit Pidgey on its back and the red ray of light dragged it inside. The ball began shaking as its center turned red from time to time, Pidgey was fighting the prison with the remains of its strength, but it was futil, it was too tired to do it. The pokeball sook once... twice... a third time and finally a click! was heard, Pidgey had been caught!

 

Pokemon caught: Pidgey, level 3, Quiet nature, increased Sp. Attack, decreased Speed

 

Meanwhile the other pokemon, Patrat, who was seemingly done, decided to go for a last try at Phanpy and rammed it with a Tackle. Being so tired and due to Phapy's awarness of the situation, Patrat could only inflict some minor damage to the blue elephant before passing out on the ground.

 

Jeimuzu and Dr. Paine ~ yes, you can combine your pokemon's attacks to try to increase the damage done. Or to change them a bit. And Jeimuzu, Dr. Paine is right, you should leave some moves like "in the air" so they wont always land damage ont he opponent, you need to give them the opportunity to avoid them too.

Akira yawned as she woke up. She groaned, then looked at the time. She yelped and jumped up. She'd be late! Today was the day she could finally start her journey. Akira quickly got dressed, grabbed her poketch, and a nice bag. She then ran out of her room. She then stopped and smiled at her mom. Her mom ran over to her and hugged her, crying "Talk to me often, and please come visit me when you can." Akira smiled and said "Of course mom. I love you." Her mom smiled threw her tears and said "I love you to." Akira kissed her mom on the cheek, then headed out.

A few minutes later, she came to Professor Pines lab. She came in and said "Sorry! I hope I'm not late!" The professor smiled at Akira and said "Ah yes, Akira." He then said some stuff that made little sense to Akira, then said ""This computer chooses your partner Pokemon based on your personality," explained the Professor. "Just place your hand on the scanner and it will display 3 Pokemon for your choosing." Akira nodded and went over to the computer.

akiraa ~ The screen whirled around black shapes of potential Pokemon. Like a casino slot machine, the three slots started to fill up with the dark sillouetts. BEEP! The first pokemon appeared and the computer spoke.

 

"Totodile, the Big Jaw Pokémon. Despite the smallness of its body, Totodile's jaws are very powerful. While the Pokémon may think it is just playfully nipping, its bite has enough power to cause serious injury."

 

The computer continued to spin through the slots. BEEP! The second Pokemon was chosen.

 

"Skitty, the Kitten Pokémon. Skitty has the habit of becoming fascinated by moving objects and chasing them around. This Pokémon is known to chase after its own tail and become dizzy."

 

Once again the computer spun its last slot. BEEP! The final Pokemon was chosen.

 

"Teddiursa, the Little Bear Pokémon. If it finds honey, its crescent mark glows. It always licks its paws because they are soaked with honey."

(Ah, Skitty and Teddiursa are hard choices I don't know witch to choose... )

 

Akira looked at the three choices and got excited at the last two. Ooh... it was a hard choice... Skitty was so cute and playful! But Teddiursa was also cute and so sweet in more ways then one! Skitty only evolves with a moon stone though, and Teddiursa evolved on it's own. But Skitty's evolved form was so much cuter, while Teddiursa's was rather scary.... hm... Akira smiled and decided. "Skitty!" Akira said as she picked it. She wanted to participate in both contests and gyms, and both Skitty and Dellecatty were great for contests! Akira then, happily, waited to receive her pokemon.

 

(sorry this took awhile, I looked up both skitty, Delecatty, Teddiursa, and Ursaring, to decide )

The girl pressed the button under Skitty and a pokeball rolled off the machine to her hands contaning her new pokemon. Prof. Pine smiled and walked to the closet, he took a poekedex and five empty regular pokeballs and walked aver to her again. "here, take this..." he said and handed her the pokedex and empty pokeballs "... well, you're the last one to come here, all the other kids have left already, but you can catch up with them soon, it hasn't passed much time since they left" he continued. "oh! before I forget, take this..." he said and handed her one of the flyers he had been giving to the rest of the kids that had already left the lab "... this has the information of an event that will take place at Pring Town in two days, there will be a tournament and as far as I know, some sort of contest too, they won't be giving Badges or Ribbons, but the experience will be usefull to you" he said to the girl...

Akira smiled and took the ball, then took the 5 empty pokeballs and slipped them in her bag. The skitty ball was still in her hand. She then took the pokedex, and slipped it in as well. She smiled more and took the flyer. "All right! Thanks Prof. Alpine!" Akira then started heading out the door. Once she got out, she pushed the button on the pokeball so it expanded, she then tossed it in the air. Her skitty came out with a "Skitt?" She looked back at Akira then cocked her head. Akira smiled and said "Hi, I'm Akira. I'm your new trainer." The Skitty smiled and said "Skitt!" Akira laughed and said "You say Skitt a lot. I think I'll call you Skit, how does that sound?" Skitty bounced up and said "Skit, Skitty!" Akira laughed and said "I'll take that as a yes." She then thought, and grabbed her pokedex. She then opened it, and pressed a button. First a description of Skitty popped up, then she pushed another button, and up popped Skit's moves, who Skit at the moment was chasing her tail, Akira smiled and said "I see, you know Fake Out, Growl, Tail Whip (I think it actually does a bit of damage when used like marill ), and Tackle." Skit looked up and said "Skitty!" Akira laughed and said "Alright, let's get going." Skit nodded and started following her trainer, off into route 1.

Cyto winced at the miss of his first attack. When the Poliwag jumped on him, he almost fell into the water! Agitated by further jumping of the Tadpole pokemon, Cyto said in desperation, Get this stupid thing off me! Okay, now that it’s not in the water, try using Psywave again! Morty commanded. Cyto floated higher in the air, before dodging one of the jumps by the Poliwag. Cyto’s eyes glowed light blue and light blue rings launched at the Poliwag with unequalled ferocity. Take that! Now how did you like that! Cyto said triumphantly.

Akira made it into route one, Skit cheerfully following behind her. Akira sighed and said "I wonder what pokemon we'll meet first... we should stay and train and build are team for awhile... what do you thing Skit?" Skit smiled and hopped up and said "Skitt, Skitty!" Happily, before playfully chasing a falling leaf. Akira laughed and said "Your silly."

((Akiraa, Skitty actually says "Nyah" rapidly like "NyahNyahNyahNyahNyahhhhhhh" Like the nyan cat. I know because my brother watched pokemon last nigh on the TV.))

 

James threw a pokeball at the pidgey, now laying defeated on the ground. The ball was shaking tremendously but the blinking stopped and so did the poke ball.

 

"You caught it James! You caught the pidgey!" Jatune exclaimed happily. Sweet success!

 

The patrat was ready for anything to happen and he hit Phanphy with a tackle. The poor pokemon had almost no strength left in him and was obviously to small to do much damage. Right after his attack hit, the patrat fainted, dropping to the ground. Jayune ran forwards and picked him up.

 

"You poor little patrat." She murmered softly to it. Picking another oranberry off the bush, she gave it to the patrat. "Here, this will make you better." She set him down where they had first discovered him and pidgey.

"Ugggg...", Serena groaned. The little pokemon had managed to escape. She would make note of that for future reference, weaken wild pokemon more before attempting a capture. She sighed, it seemed that she still had so much to learn. She vowed then and there that she would take care to learn from some of the experienced oldsters in Pring Town, when she got there. Besides the fact that her mother had taken especial care to instill in her and her sisters a strong respect for heir elders, she was sure they would have all sorts of useful advice to give. Oh, and she would have to look for that pokeball she threw , too, once this was over; no sense in wasting it. "OK, Pansear, give it another Scratch attack," the little fire type heard the order and whirled around, facing the wild pokemon that apparently was now daring to try to land an attack on ITS human.

 

"Paaa...pansear!" It scolded, evidently not at all amused, as it moved in sweeping past the wild pokemon for another scratch attack as its trainer had ordered.

 

"OK, nice job, Pansear" Serena called to her new partner, who seemed to be learning fairly quickly. "Give it some more!" Again, the little fire type pounced at its opponant, evidently not willing to concede defeat to a wild pokemon. PA..nsear!", it growled, daring the wild pokemon to just try attacking its trainer again.

 

"Ok, lets try this once more" Serena murmered to herself as she slipped another pokeball out of her bag, and primed it for the capture. She grinned to herself, this was actually quite fun," And this time, with feeling; Go, pokeball,go!" she cried winding up and tossing it with all her might at the sentret. She crossed her fingers once more as the red and white sphere hurtled towards the little wild pokemon, hoping that this time it would take and she would make her first capture. Having to admit to the others when she arrivved in Pring town, that she had failed to capture any new pokemon would be humiliating to say the least... she was sure all of them would have at least one new pokemon by the time they reached there.

James watched as the patrat tried one final attack against Phanpy but all it managed to do was knock itself out. After Patrat passed out James went and picked up the pokeball that contained his new pidgey. He smiled at Jayune. "I couldn't have done this without. Thank you Jayune." He told her as she helped the patrat and took it over to the spot where they had first found it. "I think we should get moving before patrat wakes up." James suggested as he eyes patrat thinking it would be mad that they had taken pidgey away.

"Yep. Let's go." Jayune shifted her bag and picked three more oran berries and gave two to sandshrew and phanphy. Sandshrew ate it happily. She watched James pocket the caught pidgey. "You might want to give it an oran berry. It's completely tuckered out. She handed it to him.

 

Restored to it's full health, it pawed Jayune.

 

"What is it Sandshrew?" Jayune took out her pokedex. "You're level 7 now! So you know sand-attack!" She gave Sandshrew a big hug. "Yay!"

 

"So, to Pring Town then?" She asked James. "It will be a while. Do you have stuff to camp with?"

woshiico0kie ~ Cyto's Psywave caught Poliwag in the air. The psychic attack was a little too strong for the water pokemon to take and thus it got to the water weakened by the attack... but it was not going to loose so easily. Poliwag jumped out of the pond again, this time, it was angry and used its tail to slap Cyto one and another time untill the cell pokemon's cheeks(?) were red of sorrow. Poliwag landed on the ground with a defiant face and let out its only attack, Water Sport. Poliwag got covered in water and now iit was going to be easier for it to avoid Cyto's attacks.. if it spotted them on time of course...

 

akiraa ~ Akira and Skit were walking happyly through Route 1 when across their path a wild Rattata(lvl 2) came across. Being a rat and Skit a cat, the Rattata couldn't help but to be scared and instinctly let out a growl to try to scare the pair, but, clearly, it was the scared one...

 

LeopardDragon ~ After the Scratch it landed on the Pansear, Sentret was tanding proud over its tail facing the fire monkey's trainer. Mistaken that it would attack the girl, the Pansear landed on it with powerfull Scratches that ultimately defeated the scouting pokemon. "Ok, lets try this once more" the Pansear's tariner said and only this could took it off of Sentret, but now, it was too tired to fight back what was next to come. The pokeball hit Sentret in its belly and dragged it insde in a red ray of light. Sentret tried to fight back the prison, but was futil, it was too tired to win. The pokeball shook once... twice... a third time and finally click! the "catching sound" was heard. Sentrt had been caught!
