Just find some good people like us. We're fans but not like, insane fanatics.

 

I kind of feel the same way about the insane fanatics. I'm not obsessed with the show. I wouldn't dress up as a pony or wear the merch or go to the ponycons or whatever. I just enjoy the show (and the comics) and I enjoy discussing it with people

 

 

Though I do own some ponies My niece gave me two of them, I have a Nightmare Moon from the fan pack (along with Vinyl Scratch), I got a glow-in-the-dark zecora, a Shadowbolt rainbow dash, and the Lunar New Year pinkie pie.

 

Basically just the special ones (besides the two my niece gave me, and those are special in their own way )

 

 

 

I think with any fandom is the really insane folks who go too far with it. Best thing to do is ignore those folks and just enjoy to the level that you wish to do so and find others like you (they exist!)

I just sort of outgrew it I guess. I used to hang around a lot on 4chan's /mlp/ board, but some nasty stuff happened there (a lot of new people came in after Faust gave an interview there, which caused the mods to become more strict and they started banning porn threads en-masse, was well as Tulpa General and Ass Worship General and several other generals, and then a lot of people fled to other websites) and S3 wasn't so good, so I just stopped discussing the show and by the time S4 came out, I had already started watching anime regularly and found myself just having no interest in the show at all.

 

How's S4, by the way? Is it as good as S1/S2 or is it ? Does Twilight still have her wings? Did they have an episode about all the important duties a princess has to do? Is pinkie pie funny again or is she still a massive crybaby drama queen like in S3?

@Lady_Nightfox- I have some pony merch. Three t-shirts, some blind bag ponies, and some limited edition figurines. I also have an original character pony plush for the heck of it.

 

@kahrkunne- I'm sorry you had those experiences and I can understand why you moved on to other things. I had my anime fill back in the '90s and early 2000s, but there is more of a draw to that than MLP. My Luna/ Nightmare Moon theme is fairly new. I've only had it for the past few months and I picked it because a lot of people here have pony themes. Everywhere else, I use icons of my original characters.

 

Season four is eh. My best friend and I decided we were probably not gonna watch after season three, but I've found myself watching it when I have a bit of free time. Twilight still has her wings, but they've conveniently glossed over the princess duty part (and to an extent the princess part) for now. Pinkie has her good moments, but I feel like the writers/producers/ what have you are grasping at straws for her character and the season in general. She is more random than anything else it seems. For me, S2 was the best season.

I feel like S4 started out weak but it's gotten better. There have been some really good episodes like Maud Pie and Pinkie Pride.

 

Pinkie's been a mixed bag, there's a couple episodes where she's been great (See two episodes above) and then there's been a couple episodes where she is absolutely awful (Filli Vanilli).

 

Other than a few moments where she's flying the fact that Twilight is a princess has more or less been completely ignored, though the season finale will definitely be about it.

You should probably put that in white text, it's kind of hard not to read even with the spoiler tag. And especially that link. Wow I think that lady didn't even realize how big of a spoiler she did.

 

 

So that makes me wonder what exactly she is a ruler of? Ponyville and the Everfree Forest or what?. I just hope it'll be a good season finale.

And I don't know, really. I wish Twilight became an Alicorn only as Princess seems to be there ONLY to sell toys. Alicorns seemed to be the final form of anyone who practices/creates a new form of magic. That would make sense if that was the case. However, the "Princess" title is completely unimportant. Even Cadence, Princess of Love Magic, has more duties and a set of people that live in her Kingdom. Ponyville is part of Equestria and Celestia/Luna's land, so how exactly would that work if they made Twilight's Castle be in Ponyville or anywhere near it?

 

I just dont get it at all.

 

I'm probably closest to GOOD WRITING Fluttershy. Not the Fluttershy who's terrified of everything and doesn't help her friends or is just mean. The one who's kind of has Social Phobia but is really courageous beyond that.

I pretty much agree with Nightfox's answers to those questions. I'm definitely enjoying the season more now than I did in the beginning (though the more I listen to a certain remix the more I like that vampire bats song). And I do dislike that part of the fandom that was mentioned, but every fandom seems to have a bad side so meh. I have a couple pony figurines and two shirts that I wear, but I keep to myself about the show unless I'm around friends (or in this thread) and just enjoy it.

 

@MysticTiger: When the alicorn thing was first public knowledge I was really against it, but I think that the lack of attention it's gotten has made me okay with it. I certainly don't mind it as much now, but of course we'll have to see what happens with the finale and the answers it may give us about her role as princess. I think what bothers me most is that her neck feels a bit too long sometimes and it bothers me. Or maybe I'm just being too sensitive. I'm weird like that.

 

I'm definitely Fluttershy, no doubt about it. I've got a passion for rescuing animals and my social anxieties are considerable. Maybe next semester I'll try to overcome my fear of getting food from the stations in the cafeteria where I have to *talk* to the staff... I just wish I was as cute as her.

According to my niece I'm Twilight (I guess since I'm a college student/science person). She's Pinkie Pie, which is accurate. I prefer to think of myself as Twilight pre-alicorn though

For episodes you missed that aren't on netflix (all of season 4) your best bet is youtube.

I wish I knew what the original posts said about the fandom community. I have lots to say about that but it seems the post have been removed so...

 

I'm kind of angry how MLP has become target to hate. Yes, there are Bronies out there who are terrible people, but that happens in EVERY FANDOM. You can't ignore the good.

Wookie: If you can't find the plain episodes on Youtube (I think the fan-uploaded ones get removed after a while; I didn't see any from earlier in the season at a quick glance), you can try looking on some anime/cartoon sites. None of the sites I usually use have MLP, but I Googled it and it looks like a few others have them. Maybe check that out and see if any work for you (I hope you have an adblocker and such; those are usually helpful with sites like this).

So I liked today's episode, other than pinkie pie was awful, again. I'm not sure what on earth happened this season but they have made her into an absolutely horrible character with the exception of a few episodes.

 

I loved the trade sequence with Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash though. And the Discord lamps!

 

 

Also I'm interested in the story behind the Pony at the lamp booth that had the wheelchair like apparatus. I wonder if he was a tribute to someone? Or just to put in that even ponies can have disabilities and still be perfectly fine (being able to trade, get out and about, etc)

I laughed all the way through this episode. Especially the sass between AJ and Rarity, and the trading scenes with Fluttershy and Dash. Those lamps were awesome, and of course Fluttershy sees a creature like that dog and says "Oh how cute!" Like Nightfox, I really liked that disabled pony! I don't know if he was a reference to anything but that was neat.

 

Also... Lebowski pony got a job, man! He was working the food stall that Fluttershy and Dash went to. I guess Equestria really does work miracles.

 

~EDIT: I just found this about the wheelchair pony, or Stellar Eclipse. He was apparently added for the Make A Wish Foundation and voiced by a kid from the program. <3

Oh wow that's really cool! Cool of the writers/animators/etc to do that for him.

 

I figured there was a specific reason for a "background pony" to be so unique looking, and it's cool to find out why.

When the ep first started, I was like "how bad could she be?" but then the episode kept going... Yeah...

I kind of agree with Lady_Nightfox on my feelings about Pinkie for most of this season, but I did laugh when she was using "Princess, princess, princess!" as a tagline this past episode. I wish they had done more with Twilight's princess status other than use her as a judge for all of two seconds. It seemed like they were going to do more, but didn't. Was the rainbow gavel her magical key or no?

 

Also, I would have liked to have seen what Rarity and AJ were pooling to trade.

I just haven't liked it when Pinkie has been mean spirited. She was in Filli Vanilli and then in this episode I felt like she was as well. Twilight seemed perfectly content in giving books to a young filly (education!) when Pinkie got all in an attitude with her and going as far as embarrassing Twilight/making her uncomfortable/etc. That doesn't seem like something a friend should do to another friend (and she didn't learn her lesson like Rainbow Dash or Applejack/Rarity did this episode)

 

 

The gavel was definitely not Twilight's key. All the key episodes have been centered on the pony getting the key and have been where their element is the major conflict. Also when they learn what needs to be done the little rainbow flash occurs in their eyes. Finally the rainbow flash over the key occurs when the shot focuses in on the key. (there's also a little music thingy that happens when the rainbow flash occurs).

Inspiration Manifestation was hilarious. Who knew the owl could be so amusing? (Who? Who?)

 

And why was Spike not terrified when Rarity's horn and especially eyes started glowing green!? I was terrified, lol.

Yes, I really enjoyed this episode too. Rarity was great, between all that ice cream and dark magic. I think she's become my second favorite in the Mane 6 this season. I also feel like the puppeteer reminded me of someone, but I'm not sure who... Who? Who?

I loved last week's episode.

 

 

Today's episode, I feel really, really, really bad for laughing at Spike's "Song". It was painful to watch but half-way amusing too (I guess that's the cruel part of me).

 

The lesson was pretty touching, one that a lot of people can relate to.

 

 

I wish we could have seen more of the actual games (considering how many episodes were dedicated to getting ready for them) but overall I thought it was a decent episode. Not the best of the season, but certainly not the worst.

 

 

 

Side note, I saw some people complaining that Rainbow Dash should have beat out the wonderbolt pony for the gold, but I think it was good for her to get second best on something for once. A bit of a humbling experience for her hopefully.

I had to turn the sound waaaaaaaay down during the 'song'. I didn't know whether to giggle or stare in sympathy horror. Poor Spike.

 

I think Rainbow and team getting second place was realistic. By the looks of it she was a mere split second behind and given the handicap she got from working with BB and FS it's still impressive she managed to do so well. I wonder if she would have been allowed to pull of a rainboom though?

 

But why didn't the princesses step in with the ice cloud? Don't tell me their magic was sealed off too?

As to the princesses not stepping in? They would've-- I think it was just that momentary freezing from shock, the pegasi (who deal with weather-- and presumably weather mishaps-- all the time) and Spike (who at this point kind of has a knee-jerk react when bad things happen response) were just quicker to recover and figure out a plan? That's how I saw it.

I had to leave the room just because I couldn't watch the humility.

 

Also yeah, I think it was just initial shock. Twilight seemed like she was about to go handle it, and I assume that the other off screen princesses were about to, as well, but Spike happened to jump in right then. Either way, I doubt the princesses would have let it fall and would have handled it if Spike wasn't there. I doubt their magic was sealed off. That would be incredibly dangerous, especially as they're meant to keep everything in order.

 

It's also possible that, Celestia, the troll that she is (I use that term endearingly! Oh Trollestia <3), already knew that Spike (or maybe just someone else in general, though she might have known it to be Spike specifically) would fix the problem. She's already shown in past episodes that she knows others can handle problems and won't step in until things get dire. Since she knew these things, it's likely that Luna might have also known. I doubt Cadance has that level of knowledge, so it's likely one of them would have held Cadance back. Since Twilight wasn't near them, she wouldn't have known, hence why she was about to help.
