Question about a trade?

Recommended Posts

How much would people trade for a Yelliw Dino like this? What is a fair asking price?

Sadly, I think nobody is interested in dinos anymore, they used to be decent trade fodder, but I don't get mine traded quickly anymore.

I had a yellow one up for trade a couple of days ago, asked for 1-2 random cb common hatchies, a 2nd gen storm rider hatchie, or 1-2 lineaged new release hatchies for freezing. I didn't get offers at all during the first day. I forgot to repost it on the second day, and reposted the trade when it had hatched. That got me an offer of 2 cb hatchies within minutes. I had similar experiences with all of my recent dino trades. So I'd say their value is around 2 hatchies, cb commons is what I usually ask for, but 2 BSA hatchies with random lineages should also work out. It appears that they trade much better when hatched.

You could also try EatW's trade section, because users without a forum account can see your trade there.

What's the price difference between 2g prizes, lets say in terms of cb gaias. I've heard someone say 2g prizes are worth 15 xenos but different xenos and different prizes are rarer.

So how many cb gaias would a 2g bronze shimmer be worth, and how mnay cb gaias would a 2g gold tinsel be worth? (I think those are the commonest and rarest)

I've seen 2g prize owners ask for xeno, and they post a trade link so essentially I'm assuming they ask for 4 since that's the maximum a teleport would accomodate and a couple even said don't PM. I've tried offering 4x gaias since Gaias are the priciest, and even a combo of cb metals and gaias and have never once had my offer accepted. So I doubt they actually accept the xenos even though they ask for it. At least in my experience. My best guess is they ask for something generic like oh "gaias or nice lineages would be great" but are much picky in reality with actual offers, and considering they probably also get swap offers they might even ignore all non prize offers and simply go with the swap.

I traded 4 xenos for a 2g prize once. But I'm not actually looking for how realistic is it, more how different the 'prices' are depending on what type of 2g prize you had. You could us cb copper, blusangs or anything as the 'price'

I don't know when that was, because since I returned on DC birthday, I've realized the prices are pretty steep in trades. 2g prizes have always been a stuff of illusions, but even the golds have become very difficult to trade for no matter what you offer. I have not one but 3 cb golds that were each traded for 8-10 red hatchlings - and not from same player. I have ND that was traded for, if I remember correctly, 2 cb halloweens, now they're asking cb halloween iou for easily attainable stuff like cb xenos.

Anyway - I'd say based on my own 2g trade 15 xenos or equivalent is a fair price for a silver/gold prize, no idea about realistic or not. If it's gaia, then at most 8 and not for bronze because Gaia trades 2:1 with cb silver and 1:1 with green copper, so it's equivalent to 4 silvers/ 8 green coppers.

/ This of course if how I'd value them, I suppose I'd leave the question open to be answered by someone who has a lot of 2g prizes they traded for.

Honestly as someone with an extensive 2g prize collection I don't think prizes are valued that differently based on type. Mate choice is usually a bigger factor. And even then, if you find the right prize owner, everything can become quite doable. I've never had luck trading with the people who post 2g prizes of any type in the threads asking tons of CB Metals / NDs / insert other insanities here, but trading with people who just post their prize status in their signatures is much easier. Recently I got a 2g Silver Shimmer for 1 CB Xeno, a 2g Bronze Tinsel for 6 CB Xenos, another 2g Bronze Tinsel from a different owner for another 6 CB Xenos, and a 2g Silver Tinsel for 3 CB Coppers. So, again, it really varies too widely to pin down exacts.

Everyone I see with a 2g prize in their sig has a 'full list' or 'doesn't breed upon request'

Just gotta keep looking. Check people with short lists periodically.

Wow...that list blows my mind. o_o Here I am having trouble trading for [¡]any[/i] prize using a cb silver + 2 cb gaias + 2 cb coppers + cb almandine + flexibility to add more. In fact last week I couldn't get even get a swap for my rare line bronze shimmer for a silver/gold prize when I added a cb green copper and 3 cb gaias to make up for the color.

Maybe I am just reaally unlucky. rolleyes.gif

I think it's just hard to trade CB Uncommons for Prizes. I can easily trade 3G Prizes for 1 or 2 CB Xenos or Coppers a pop, usually, so why would a prize owner want to trade for them with a 2g when they probably have easier ways to get them? 2g prize swaps are hard, too, because a lot of people like being able to choose the mate. I feel you on that one, I've tried swapping 2gs several times usually with little luck.

Question regarding 2nd gen prize

What is classed as a rare line?

Number of offspring/choice of mate/only one from prize etc

Would a Bronze Tinsel X Holiday only one from prize be in that category?

As far as I'm concerned, only the total number of breeding 2G Prize offsprings (with any and all mates) can make a Prize rare. I often see traders advertise a 2G as rare if it is the only one by a particular mate, but I will not consider it so if that Prize has over 20 2G Prize offsprings from various mates.

This is an example of what I would consider rare: http://dragcave.net/progeny/Fairy (5 X 2G Prize offsprings, only 3 have produced 3G Prize offspring, and only 1 has produced any offspring at all in the last 6 months)

But I will admit that rarity may be viewed differently by different players. smile.gif

Edit: And as a side note, I personally couldn't care less about rarity, only about getting the breed/color/gender that I need. wink.gif

As a prize owner, I can verify that what ADP has to say on the subject. It's very easy to get whatever assortment of commons and uncommons I want. If I am going to set up a trade, I am going to ask for exactly the ones I want instead of finding a random collection of what someone might have at the time. I also agree that asking, specifically, what a prize owner wants is more likely to work better. I recently did a large trade for several specific dragons (common CB hatchies, specific lines I needed, etc.). The person just wanted a 2G, and I said the next one I got that wasn't what I wanted (I was trying for some fails) could be the one they got. They were fine with that, so I was willing to do the trade.

Swaps are a much bigger deal. If a person wants a specific combination, I am going to be a LOT more selective about what I get in return, especially if they want it from an uncommon or less (I won't actually take 'orders' for anything less than uncommon because I don't like the idea of wasting breedings for months to potentially a year or more). I frequently see people who offer an already-bred 2G prize and want a SPECIFIC 2G swap. I find this to be not worth my time because I am not getting the same advantage of getting the mate I want. I think others likely feel the same way so often are not looking through trading threads for a swap (especially if the person who has the 2G isn't the breeder). You're facing a combination of prize owners not seeing your post and you not having the specific things they might want.

As a prize owner, I consider it a little differently. For example, my own prize has 25 total prize offspring. However, 9 of those are my own (and I really don't trade 3Gs anymore, rarely even breed them), and 1 was one I accidentally released (oops!) for which I had to breed a replacement. Furthermore, if you look at the ones I did trade to others, 7 only have one offspring, 2 have only two offspring despite having been around for a while (since most of my 2Gs were traded very early on when I first got him).

Now, I would not say his line is RARE, but it is rarer than it looks because I breed him a lot for my own collection and for eventual checkers. So for me, I consider the number of 3rd gens because if you are getting a 2G, likely you are going to be wanting to trade the 3rd gen offspring and want to know their value.

Like others on this list, I consider two things when judging rare lines: how many 2g offspring, and how many 2gs from that particular breed pairing. For example, if the CB prize has only 5 2g offspring, but they're all from a copper, then how rare is that to me? (Still pretty rare, but ...)

As to 2g prices: I think I've done a 2g trade for 8 CB lunar heralds, with specific colors and genders requested. Pretty finicky stuff, but obtainable. Also helps if you're flexible on mates, since it is nice being able to switch things up at will, or try combos where fails would be needed, too.

Well I can only say from a "buyer" perspective, unless something is obviously difficult to get hands on (like a 2G from a prize that is not bred for 2G ..I remember this one prize which I have 3g from that has only 1 2G and never bred for even personal purpose) , then I don't care about the "rare" word anymore. It used to be a fairly significant deal in past if a line is rare or not, but now with so many prizes in mix most people can't be bothered to keep track of every line from every prize. It really depends on what you would consider a great enough pairing to shell out a lot rather than what's rare or not (unless it's obviously too rare like the examples mentioned).

I also don't consider, like said above, a prize that has 20x offspring already to be rare if it's bred to a certain breed the first time.

How many CB common hatchies will you ask for CB Copper, Xenos, Dinos & Chicken? I saw someone mentioned 2CB common for a Dino even though it's a rare?

I think it really depends on personal preference. I'd probably ask for somewhere between 4-8, especially for a Copper, but that's just me personally.

I would ask these (which I think is fairly average norm but some people may ask more/less)

Red/brown copper- 4-6

Green copper - 4-10

Astrapi/thalasaa/pyro- 4

Mageia - 2-6 (some people REALLY don't want mageia, some would kill for it, so you've to find right person)

Chrono - 5-8

Gaia - 8-10

Chicken - 2-3

Dino 1-3

Unbreedables have lesser demand despite being rare because once people collect their required scroll goals, they don't need them anymore as they can't be bred into lineages.

----------

Would you consider any combination of 2 eggs from cb copper and cb xeno a fair offer for 2g pb z coded alt undine? What is the highest anybody on here has managed to get for alt undine? I've never traded one myself so I don't know what it's worth.

I only recently started playing DC again after a 6 month break, and I need some updates on what some dragons are worth. Could I ask a CB Gaia for a CB Blusang? What about Almandines, are they generally worth only 1 CB Xeno egg?

CB gaia for a cb blusang is difficult. Gaias are notoriously difficult to catch compared to blusang. Gaia trades 1:1 with cb green copper but you could try getting a cb xeno for blusang if you're not very specific on color. CB almandines have recently dropped in values so they are easily available but still trade as rare on cb xeno level. You could probably even push for 2 almandines depending on xeno color or trade 1:1 using blusang.

Are CB Thunders worth anything at all these days? I have three CB Thunders and I really do not need/want them. I'd love to try and get something I want out of them. Is it possible to get a Xeno or Spessartine/Alamandine out of them? Or would a Thunder only rank maybe a CB Nebula or something?

I'd think you could at least get a Spessartine out of them, if you offer 2 of yours for one of theirs. Maybe even an almandine. As for xenowyrms, it would depend on the type. You could get a Pyro or an Astrapi easily if you give several of yours imo.

Thunders are least valued trios. That being said someone did offer a cb astrapi on my cb thunder last week, the difference is that it was a hatchie. So I would suggest hatch the thunders first, that way you're more likely to get a good offer because someone desperate for an egg slot might offer something good like a cb xeno, cb almandine etc. Also try to swap the thunders for another trio and re-trade the other trio for something you like.

I'm asking 4 hatchlings for a CB Spessartine egg, but I haven't seen any offers come in, unless people retracted them before I see them.

Am I asking to much, or could it just be that my posts got buried and unnoticed?
