Question about a trade?

Recommended Posts

^^^^Reply to love hp

For your egg,something like what master125's got-or a sunrise/sunset,ridgewing or a bred vine.

If there are going to be official evaluators, then I would suggest a list in the main post that lists something like amount of time playing, or an approximation of trades made, or something that allows people to assess the information that they're getting.

Yeah, maybe have over 50 dragons and be over level 4 on forums(Thats not me,but anyway).Good idea!

Giving a general rarity still doesn't indicate value, because rarity is relative to other dragons, and not objective. A silver being "rare" gives no idea when a cb vine might be "common" or "semi-common" or "semi-rare" or "rare" still, and especially depending on the person asked.

Agreed with skauble. Not just minimum criteria, but an actual listing of what experience a person has and any biases they feel they have would help C: For example, I tend to value bred metals "lower" than most people.

The title of 'Trading FAQ' makes this topic sound official which it is not. I have edited the title.

As far as a few members, telling you what something is worth in trade. No one can decide the value of an egg/hatchling, only the member who wants it.

I do like the idea, but I can also see what Outer Space means.

Newer players who missed the trio release may think that a gold or silver is worth a trio, but if you ask me I would NEVER trade a silver or gold for a trio, unless it was a terrible lineage for a great one.  Just like even older players than me that experienced the rare glitch probably don't value silvers and golds as highly as I do.

I'll leave with a question.  What about this silver?  http://dragcave.net/lineage/rr4B

For the silver, if it were mine, I would trade it for another similar lineaged metal or a CB black, mostly because I don't have a silver that short lineaged, or a CB black. At my point, I wouldn't consider trading any amount of CB hatchlings for a metallic. It all depends though on how many silvers one has ._.

A thread like this would be difficult to manage and I agree with kadoatie; there are just too many factors determining what you can get for something. What a person likes or dislikes is only the start of it. I also think only "experienced" players should be the judges and even then there are biases. People who have been around more know at least a little more, but it's all up to taste. If I found (hypothetically) a 6th even gen PB seasonal dragon egg, I would probably hold on to it about a day to trade, or find someone to gift it to immediately. In fact I would dump it to pick up a CB common hatchling. Yet these lineages are often valued by others...

Thanks Sock,

Does anyone know what's a fair trade for a CB pink?

(apart from metals, trio, alt vine/black)

Ok, I have no papers on my scroll and rarely see any in the cave, so if I managed to breed a 12th gen. non-inbred thunder egg, would that be a fair trade for a paper hatchie?

I wouldn't take an offer like that, but I generally don't catch papers anyway and I have a ton of low gen and CB thunders...

edit: @Infinis, I traded a silver with one more generation from the same lineage for 3 ER CB hatchies, so I think I did well. smile.gif It seems no one has similar silvers or golds at the same time I do lol.

xd.png I probably wouldn't take the offer either if I had a million CB thunders, but the person has no trios and said they don't mind long lineages or inbreeding.

If I managed to catch another Paper and didn't have a Thunder, I'd totally take that offer. What counts as a fair trade pretty much depends on the person you're trading with.

You could also try your luck with the Secret Society of Gifters but of course there's no guarantee anyone will ever donate a Paper.

Thanks Sock,

Does anyone know what's a fair trade for a CB pink?

(apart from metals, trio, alt vine/black)

For a CB pink, I'd shoot fairly high right now - mid to longer lineaged rares, or unbreedables. You can also assure people that you're open to offers, in case no one with more valuable items are interested, just be clear about what you're not accepting if you do that.

The important thing to consider is often the secondaries, and not just the breed itself. This level of trading value won't always be the case with CB pinks.

1. Right now, because of the shared descriptions with flamingos and the fact that the flamingos still seem to be more common because the ratios are adjusting, CB pinks seem to have a certain level of rarity.

2. While the lower level rarity of shared descriptions still might not always command a good price (take, for instance, skywings), the fact is that a lot of lineages depend on CB pinks. Because of that, there's a stronger market for them than many other dragons with equal rarity. Now that lineages have become so popular, it's always a good idea to take into account if the the breed you're trading is heavily used in them. If so, it automatically adds a certain amount of value to a CB.

3. Biomes will, of course, have a good chance of decreasing the CB pink's value by putting the flamingos and pinks in different places.

ETA: Because of the BSA factor, you'll probably be able to secure and even better trade if you raise the pink to a hatchling. Hatchlings always command a higher price (the less time they have the higher the value), but because people may need one super quick for influencing, you could possibly make an excellent deal. Just remember to keep the hatchlings views as low as possible so that you have the maximum amount of time to trade.

Also, if you have the space during holiday events, it can sometimes be hugely profitable to have some pink or red hatchlings on your scroll. People who find themselves desperately in need of incubation or influence will often offer outrageously high value trades.

i'm preparing for a holly this christmas laugh.gif

so i thought what would be a normal offer for that

so what is a normal offer for a holly

like:

6 tinsels egg

or 3 CB mettalic

please leave your comment

and your opinion about what a normal holly offer would be

it's all a matter of perspective. Different people who own hollies want different things. Some people may want a whole lot of very low gen tinsels or CB golds/silvers or a truck load of CB stripes/blacks or just a bunch of common hatchlings or maybe they just randomly give them to someone for nothing in return. You can't really "plan" for it unless you actually work out a deal with someone in advance.

What Wraith said. Some people gift them for nothing.

I personally would think 3 CB metallics was pushing it.

I plan to kick mine straight to the ap.. If i manage a lower gen i plan to release the one i have.

I gave like 5 "Common Collectors Competition" hatchlings for a Holly promise, if that helps you gauge any. I felt like I got a good deal out of that.

It's also important to remember, many more Hollies will be going into the ap this year because of teleport. So I think it's sort of silly to make such a crazy deal for a Holly when there should be a bit more to go around this year. I'm not saying we'll be swimming in Hollies or anything, just that there should be more in the ap since you can only teleport 1 from each clutch. That's all I'm sayin'. xd.png

Are you sure about that? last years I only saw *2* holies in the AP,and I was hunting for eggs all the christmas time, since I was in vacations.

I really want one this year, thought I don't know how I will get one sad.gif specially if I can't catch one in AP.

I saw quite a bit of hollies last year. There should be twice as many this year, plus the offspring from the HM winners, if not more. I'm looking for a specific lineaged ones, so I will be offering multiple prize dragon eggs, plus a possible neglected.

6 Tinsels or 3 CB metallics? Holy Moses.

A good trade depends so much on the perspectives of the people involved in the trade that I don't think it's ever a question that can really be answered. I plan on offering a 2nd gen Tinsel for one eventually, though I feel that's offering a bit much. I'm the type who values the ability to breed over anything else, though, so the fact that Hollies only breed true during Christmas is a major concern for me. People who collect for collector's sake wouldn't necessarily see that as a problem, so to them trading several rares might seem like a fair deal. In other words . . . I have no clue what a "normal" offer would be. I think the best idea is to simply bait your hook with what you can and see if there are any nibbles.

I do think with teleport there will be more Holly sightings in the AP. Not that I'd count on it as far as actually catching a Holly goes, but I've been excited about it ever since the release of teleport because it will force people to randomly release eggs, whereas before they were able to control the destination of the entire clutch somewhat.

It depends on the situation. For example, my one definite holly is going to the person who gave me a rosebud when I missed the release. I hope to catch a second one as well, though.

yes..before teleport, people had the ability to hand out the codes prior to them selecting their "one to keep".. so their friends armed with the codes and refreshing like crazy had a good chance to try to grab it the millisecond it hit the AP.. if it even showed up on the ap. Now that we have teleport there will be no more handing out codes for the extras to do a refresh grab... people will actually have to duke it out on the AP directly. biggrin.gif

I think 3 CB Metals would definitely be pushing it. I traded a Holly Promise for my 2nd Gen Tinsel, and I plan on booting my other Holly's eggs to the AP.

Unless someone has a 2nd Gen Gold or Bronze they want to give me? XP

Traded my holly IOU for a 7th even gen tinsel smile.gif

There will be a lot more going to the ap this year.

Here are a couple more examples of what Hollies are worth to different people: I owe a Holly to someone for giving me an egg with the code "flip." I had to have that code for personal reasons. And I got my Holly as an IOU from someone to whom I gave my extra Sweetling egg--they missed out on catching any the day the Sweetlings were released.

I'm hoping my Holly will give more than one egg this Christmas. Even if we didn't have Teleport, I'd still be kicking any extras straight to the AP.
