worst injury ever happened to you

Recommended Posts

The four biggest injuries I've ever gotten are:

When I was little, I dislocated my shoulder on the monkey bars. All I remember about this was telling my dad to let me go when he was holding me up on the bars and convincing him that I was sure that I could hold myself up. Obviously, I couldn't and ended up falling. On the bright side, I got a teddy bear at the ER. biggrin.gif

When my friend was teaching me how to ride a bike, I ended up falling off and hitting my head on a tree. I was only knocked out for a few seconds, but I got a huge goose egg and had to go to the ER.

In 7th grade, we were learning about camouflage. As an activity, our teacher took us outside and threw colored toothpicks into the grass. We were supposed to grab as many as possible in a certain amount of time. When we all ran out to the spot where the toothpicks were, I tripped over someone's foot and got impaled in my palm by a toothpick. It went pretty deep. When I pulled it out, I didnt bleed for very long, but the color of the blood was really dark with a purple tint.

A little less than a year ago, I was working at a pet groomers. When I was holding a dog, it turned around in my arms real quick to see behind itself and when doing so, it tried to put its paw on me to be able to turn better. Apparently, my face seemed like a good spot to put its paw and with its very sharp claws, it ended up scratching my face so bad that I had to get stitches. My first stitches ever just had to be in my face... >__<

I've been quite lucky, actually. I broke my right arm a couple of times as a kid, but other than that, I've never really had any serious injuries. Fingers crossed I continue on this path... I don't particularly want any. laugh.gif

I was chasing a friend of mine when I was younger and I somehow tripped (I blame the very uneven sidewalk) and ended up gashing my chin open... though I didn't know I had until my friend stopped me and walked me back to her house... where he mother promptly walked me over to my own house (good thing we were neighbors) and my mother freaked... I still didn't know why xd.png

later i found out but never got stiches.. though I think I should have... but my face is fine now and to think about it now, I don't really care that I fell. I was in shock anyhow I think... I didn't care then and I don't so much now. It was the past... and quite funny even though I got hurt xd.png

My ankle got run over by a car- I slipped on ice and fell into the road, and the car just ran over it.

However, my bones were fine. My ligaments, however, weren't.

I broke my wrist once, I believe... but I was really small so I don't really remember it. Which is probably a good thing, because I'm sure it would have hurt really badly.

I was walking to school one day and while crossing the crosswalk a teacher hit me with her car. Nothing broke, but it hurt like hell.

I also broke my pinky finger on my left hand while playing wallyball in gym. I went to go hit the ball and a kid on the other side of the net kicked it. His knee collided with my finger.

Wow, I've never really had an injury. Except when I was maybe 8 years old I went bowling with my grandfather. When I wanted to take on of the bowling balls I placed my hand on the front, and exactly at that moment another one came back (from the direction of the pins) and hit my little finger, which broke. But I rarely even noticed this, I was surprised when we went for a routine check to a doctor and he said my little finger was broken and it might stop to grow. Well, not it's normal again without doing anything and it's the size of the little finger on the other hand. Lucky me!

At about 7. I was riding a bike down a path by our farm. The bike hit a rock, I flipped over the handlebars. Onto the rock path. I used my front arms to shield my face from impact thankfully. Where the rock went into my forearms, if I didn't shield my face, I would be blind in my right eye. Skinned my arms soooo bad. I'm actually scarred for life from that. Never rode another bike again.

My worst injury happened yesterday. Well, it started the day before yesterday I thought I had and ear infection. I am a tiny bit prone to getting ear infections, but usually doctor says "here is your prescription yes indeed your ear is swollen bye". I have only had one ear infection in the past 5 years so I guess by usually I am partially lying. That was the only time somebody has said that to me. Anyway a day later, we go to this emergency room place, get the forms done and go to the nurse who writes down the problem and checks my other ear for a fever. He says [Dr. somebody] will be over there to check you in 2 minutes. 2 mins later, I am in [Dr. somebody]s room. When he looks into my ear with a light he says "I have never seen anything like this before". Words you never want to hear a doctor say. He follows that by "Now I don't want this to upset you by this but I think there may be a bugs in your ear or some foreign matter, but thats probably unrelated. I see little black dots, maybe ants or something. Calm down, it's okay, I will call the specialist, he will suck them out with this little thing, don't worry". He asked me if I stuck anything in my ear. rolleyes.gif I end up watching a really stupid cartoon in the waiting lounge for half an hour, the ear person arrives and guess what? I have a tick deep into my ear and the black stuff is probably poop, some deep as well, some right by the surface. The tick getting pulled out hurt like hell. I was screaming and crying. The pain was unbearable, hands down the most painful thing that ever hurt in my life. He was rooted deep, let me tell you. The metal suction thing for those little hard black things everywhere for each one was about 70% of the pain of the actual tick. I clenched my teeth, held on to my mothers hand and tried to keep still as I could. Now let me tell you, for that type of operation general anesthesia was a real option, but I didn't bother, to much complication, even with zero pain. Finally he said "Good as gold" and I was so happy to leave. As of now it is REALLY sore, but very bearable. The thing is, it took three days for the pain to wear off from a removed tick bite on my toe from earlier that week, so on the sensitive part of my ear, it should be pretty painful for a week. But it hurts to touch my ear, take my shirt of, put my hair over my ear, press below my ear, move my head really fast, and a bunch of other things. Maybe it's not really an injury, but it sure was my most painful experience.

Oooh... That happened to my dog once. Her ears were swollen and red and painful for a while.

Hm... I don't get hurt much, I'm a careful person~ But if I had to say my worst injury... It'd be the massive splinter I got in San Fransisco, California. Basically... I was walking on a wooden bridge on the way to the beach, and my mama kept telling me to put my flip-flops on. I didn't listen, and got a six-inch splinter in my foot. She picked me up and ran me to the hotel room. I went insane and told her to call 911, but after an hour or so, she pulled it out. It was like two inches deep in my foot. After she got it out, she slapped a Band-Aid on the cut and we went back to the beach and I found a crab, who pinched me. xd.png

Something kind of like that happened to me once. I was sitting on the new porch my dad build, and when I turned and pushed with my knee to push myself up, a three-inch splinter went into my knee. I started screaming, and my mom yanked it out.

It hurt quite a bit.

Oh, a few other injuries I remembered:

A few years back, I was running down a slight hill to the blacktop for recess, but the rest of my body got ahead of my feet and I took a face plant into the grass, and my arms went all the way back behind me. It didn't feel like that bad of a fall; I picked myself up and went on with recess as though nothing had happened. Then, about a week later, I got an ache in my chest. Being the hypochondriac that I am, I thought I was having heart issues, which was ridiculous as I was in elementary school at the time. My mom managed to convince me that I'd just pulled a muscle in my chest when my arms went behind me, and the pain went away after a while of putting arnica on it. Not that bad of an injury, but it hurt.

This isn't really an injury, but last year, I got a pimple on my leg, I'm guessing from an infected hair follicle. I put Nuseborne ointment and a bandaid on it and pretty much ignored it. But it got worse, and soon I couldn't take a step without feeling pain. My mom put hot compresses on it and and put a homemade ointment on it, made mainly out of iodine and oregano oil, both of which are antibacterial. It took forever to get better, almost a month, and I still have the scar.

Another time, I was standing in the doorway as my dog ran past me. I reached out to grab her collar, but my finger got stuck. Man did that hurt! My mom drove me to the emergency clinic, and had my finger X-rayed, but it didn't show any break. They splinted my finger anyways, but I'm guessing there was a slight fracture because my finger is now slightly twisted.

Once, I was in my grandma's kitchen barefoot. The floor is really slippery when it's wet, and I didn't use to dry my hands, shaking the water on the floor instead. I slipped and slammed my pinkie toe into the leg of the bench she has instead of chairs. I never went to the doctor for it, but it must have been broken because it was more than six months before the pain went away.

I was running somewhere about this time last year and I slipped and fell face first into a wall thing.

Think I passed out but my bro caught up to me and helped me home.

Xrays showed I was really lucky not to break anything or get blinded, but I had massive bruising from the eyebrow bone, down my cheek and my jaw. My nose bled like anything but wasn't broken, my teeth cut through my lower lip so more blood and there were gashes around my eye.

No scarring or anything now but my right eyebrow bone is still sore if I press on it. Had to ice my face for a couple of days. 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off but it worked like a treat to keep the swelling down. My eye swelled shut within minutes but got normal sized again after the ice treatment. Just black and blue and it hurt like anything for about a week and a half. Pain would wake me at night and I had bad neck pains for a few months.

I don't normally fall but found out something was up with that parkway. Others had gone down there too so they resurfaced it.

I hate watching boxing and UFC, MMA since then. I wince when I see anyone getting hit in the face.

Got my right knee messed up when I was rock climbing with no ropes a while back too. Banged up at martial arts classes by losers who wanted to be Bruce Lee without his skill level, and finding ways within the rules to kick some sense into them and see how they liked being on the receiving end.

Leg broken when I was a kid.

The usual.

Um the worst thing that has happened to me is during this year.. I had cut myself with a knife inside my ceramics class. I had cut three fingers {Not my middle and thumb} and I have NO idea how I did it or even noticed I was bleeding until I saw the blood and still felt no pain.

My worst injury happened about 7 years ago and I'm still feeling the effects.

I was saddle training my two and a half year old filly, when she was stung by a ground wasp and she went nuts. I don't really remember exactly what happened, but my sis-in-law told me afterwards. Apparently I went flying off, and would have landed on my back, but I flipped myself in mid-air and landed face first. I must have tried to take most of the impact onto my hands and arms, but the left snapped, mid-wrist, and the other one buckled so that I drilled my face into the ground, knocking me out for several minutes. We also think my foot must have got stuck in the stirrup momentarily because my right knee was pretty wrecked. I most likely damaged it more when I, somehow, managed to get to my feet to avoid the horse on her way back up the pasture.

All in all, that wreck gave me: a very serious concussion that has messed with my short term memory, a broken wrist that needed surgery correction (they had to take a piece of bone from my hip to help replace bone in my wrist, and I still can't move my wrist properly,) a fractured right wrist, and a knee that also required surgery. Apparently, I snapped the meniscus, tore the ACL at a 2 out of 3 level, and tore the other ligament at 1 out of 3 level, and did a good job on the cartilage. My knee is still ka-put and may require replacement surgery in later years.

Needless to say, I haven't been horse riding since the accident and we sold all of our horses soon after. Since I can't use my wrist properly, I just don't think it would be safe.

When I was eight I was in ice skating camp. Someone skating near me slipped and fell. The toe pick on one of their ice skates went into my leg.

Fell off a chair when I was seven or eight. Hit my chin on tile and needed stiches.

I got a popsicle after, though. :3

When I was like, I dunno, 6, my mom accidently slammed the car door on my hand. Thankfully I didn't actually break anything or need stiches.

I, surprisingly, have never, and I mean NEVER broken anything. Seriously. The worst injury I've ever had is a severe scrape on my knee, but nothing THAT bad.

Oh boy do I have a compilation of injuries.

When I was little, I was riding my bike in the school parking lot (after school) and a big truck came up behind me. I was scared silly, turned around to the left to look, and my bike overturned to the right at top speed. I still have the scar on my knee. I've been thrown off and stepped on by horses more times that I can count. One time, I was leading my horse over ice in the winter, and she slipped, throwing every pound of 1200+ weight onto my foot. (She was and still is incredibly fat) The toenail on my big toe turned black, and I had to cut it very, very short to the point where it nearly fell off. In November of this year, I fell off a different horse. We were walking in the arena on the side near the woods, when he caught sight of a blasted turkey and spun on his heels. I was thrown to the ground and landed on my back, wheezing and barely able to breath. My hip and lungs hurt a lot in the weeks following, I had trouble sleeping because of the hip pain. I was putting said horse away in his pasture one day, when he shoved my head and it bounced off the metal gate. Gave me a nice egg on the forehead. I've had multiple scratches from a childhood of cats. One time, I was cutting up pears at my grandma's house, and miscalculated. Sliced my finger right open. Just this summer, I was running with my dog in the yard, playing a game. I threw myself down on the grass, only to have my back land on an angry bee. This isn't an injury, but I'll tell it anyway. Earlier this year, I had several leftover baby teeth, 6 to be exact, in the top of my mouth which weren't falling out fast enough. So they decided to put them out all at the same time. I left the dentist with a mouth full of bloody gauze in my mouth and weeks of soft food ahead of me.

I'd say the worst thing that ever happened to me was at Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. My dad had taken us to go skiing, but we ended up at the inner tubes. We were going down once, holding on to each other, and got to about the middle part. His inner tube pushed me too far over to the left near the barrier. My tube flipped over, hurling me out of it. I summersaulted down the sheet of almost pure ice, while it was scraping into every part of my face, back, arms, and legs. I finally found my footing and started running unstably down the slope to avoid getting run over. I tripped and started summersaulting again, finally landing in a crumpled pile at the bottom. I left with a bleeding face, pains all over, and a huge cut on my hip I wouldn't find until the next day when my PJs were blood soaked. It scabbed over, nice and rough, and of course I picked and picked at it. I've got a nice # shaped scar there, although it is fading with each year.

After all that, I've never broken a bone in my life. Imagine that.

*Edit* Although, I just remembered a time that could rival the inner tubing. I was very little, 3 or 4, playing at daycare. All was well, out on the playground. Until I took too long going down the slide. This other kid, Eddie, pushed me off the slide and I landed face first into the wood chips on the ground. (What daycare has wood chips for their playground?) A piece embedded in my face about 1 mm from the outside of my right eye, which would have blinded me in that eye if I had been just a little unluckier. I had to have stitches, and I still have a faded pink scar on the skin where the eyelid meets the rest of the cheek.

Worst injury that's happened to me is when I got into a bike accident. I had so many cuts, gashes, scratches, and I even sprained my middle finger too. >< Also heard that one of the two bikers had their handle jabbed into their shoulder.
