Just to be contrary, I'll ask if ABC is doing the same thing by just showing Biden.  It is a shame that Trump wouldn't do a virtual debate.  I'll record one and watch one live.

But Biden has been scheduled for days now. And it was Trump himself who cut himself out of the debate. So he gets rewarded for that by getting a whole hour or more to himself? That just seems wrong to me.

I won't boo you for voting as you felt you must. I hope McConnell loses, though. If the Democrats don't pick up Senate seats they will be stone-walled through the next 4 years and Biden will have his hands tied.

I have been working this week and last with the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) Action Fund to text registered voters across the country to encourage them to get their ballots in early. We are working from lists of people who are supposedly environment friendly.

I can tell immediately from their responses which news outlets they have been watching. Fox News and their ilk have so indoctrinated people to equate the Democrats with radical socialism that they won't hear of voting for Biden. :(

I'm always puzzled about this "socialism" thing in the US. Do I understand corrct that what you call "socialism" is in fact what we would call "communism" here?

Out of curiosity, what exactly would US people understand when they hear about "social democracy" and would that be anathema, too?

I don't know about that, but one friend's husband is sure Biden will be a puppet for all those Communists, like Bernie Saunders, Harris, and Pelosi.  Thank goodness, he's not a US voter.

that's what some of our programs already are.... but in the minds of a lot of FoxNews-indoctrinated folks, "social" anything is social-ism. :(

Here's my take on the town halls...  I have watched both of them.

Trump denounced white supremacy.  He said he would accept a peaceful transition of power.  He is still being wishy-washy about masks, but in the end, he said to wear masks.  Owes about 400 million in taxes.  What!?  Refuses to release taxes because they are being audited.  Says IRS very unkind to him.  Says excellent supreme court justice candidate.  Hasn't spoken to Amy Coney Barrett about specific decisions she might make.  Wouldn't say what he thought about Roe being overturned.  Immigrants to come into country legally.  Says he's for DACA but somewhat wishy-washy about it.  NBC was not easy on him.  He was civil and didn't yell.  He got 1 hour.

Biden says Trump still saying COVID is going away.  Would take vaccine if scientists say it's ready by end of year.  Would not answer whether he would mandate vaccine - wishy-washy answer.  Wants to create 4 to 6 million jobs.  Wants made in America.  Assumed a questioner went to college.  Off on a tangent about Small Business Assoc.  Black person buying same house as white person in respective neighborhoods paysbless for house, but pays more insurance and more taxes.  Wants to decriminalize marijuana.  Same time for same crime.  Most cops don't like bad cops.  We can ban chokeholds.  Cops need to learn how to de-escalate situations.  Kept going off on tangents.  Make sure you vote based on the constitution.  In politics, grudges don't work.  Wants more solar energy.  Doesn't want to ban fracking.  Wants fossil fuels ended.  How can you have both?  Wants all non-renewable energy gone by 2030.  (Wouldn't that include fracking?)  Wants more electric vehicles.  LGBTQ should be better protected.  If loses will go back to being a professor.  I'll take care of those that vote against me as well as those that vote for me.  Has been taking COVID test every day.  Will expect Trump to take one before next week's debate.  Got an hour and a half.

More comments on Biden because he had more time.  I tried not to be for one candidate or the other. (Keep in mind that I already voted for Biden.)  All In all, I thought Trump did the better job of stating what he is doing and his plans.  Biden went off on too many tangents.

A friend here tried to watch Biden last night. Not one of the channels we get here was showing it, or rather, not one that she was able to watch. The two that the guide said were showing Biden were mysteriously off air, so her only option was the orange dude, or try online. She finally found it online.

I had a dream last night. That CNN was saying Biden was winning. So I ran to see. I saw people marching waving blue flags and Trump was out among them claiming it was his victory claiming he changed the color of the Republican party to blue. Lol. 🙃🤥🤯

yes, but we probably won't know the results until a few days later - PA (and i think another state) are accepting ballots up til 3 days after the election... and votes can't actually be counted until election day itself.  so while my vote has been received, it isn't part of the official tally just yet.

Sounds like something he'd do. Or declare he switched parties mid-election. Or that he now represents both parties and thus, won. Because everyone voted for him. 😛

I'm getting virtually nothing from this debate.  Blah, blah, blah...

I got lowered blood pressure by not watching it. I caught the highlights on Twitter. So glad I've already voted.

I voted too but I had to work so I only caught the last few minutes.

I turned it off after about half an hour because I could feel my stress levels rising.

I saw that on one of my news feeds this morning. Loved it! XD

I watched part of the debate last night on The Guardian's live feed. It was much less exhausting to watch than the first one, but I have to agree with @Classycal that nothing of substance came out of it. Just more of Trump's distorted reality. I doubt anyone's mind was changed by either candidate at this point.

Interesting fact check article on the debate. False facts on both sides.

debates don't usually change people's minds anyway.

it was less exhausting, i'll agree.

yes - but much more from trump.

also biden actually answered more questions than trump actually did.  i wasn't "keeping score," but i know biden answered at least 2.  may times, trump would start yammering, and hubby would ask trump through the tv "what are you talking about??" XD

XD Yeah, I found myself asking the same many times.

Biden did a much better job of addressing the questions that were asked instead of going off on his own tangent. And, yes, he stuck to the truth a lot better, too.

It seems whether Trump stands a chance in winning at all comes down to which way my state Florida goes. I really hope Florida doesn't disappoint me again.
