Most people would snag their four and move on, letting those who havent caught theirs get one. I mean you can only have 4 live eggs so why catch more just to kill them?

It still takes a hatchling space. If you freeze it before death, it shouldn't take up any space (from what I heard).

if you zombify an unfrozen hatchling, it is automatically frozen.

Considering the drop happened on Halloween, I'd say it's unlikely it'll go any further than that, based on my experience with previous drops. They usually end when the holiday in question ends.
