Count me in!! I'll have to stalk the front page to catch a few of the allowed breeds CB-wise, but I agree to the stopping of this idiotic legislation! My DAD had picked up an abandoned female pit bull who was injured from a dog fight. She was frightened, but she didn't attack him or harm him, and as he cared for her to health, she saw him as a real human to love. But it's proof that she came from a bad raising and my father cared for her in the best way he could.

She returned that one day when the kitchen in his house caught fire. He was napping when it happened, and she awoke him by scratching on his bedroom door, trying to get away. He got out with severe burns on the back of his head and neck, but the dog, poor Baby, she didn't make it.

And there was the time, about seven years prior, his Rottie, Moose, defended his backyard against thieves. They still managed to take off with the air compressor, BUT they didn't leave in one piece. Moose was discovered on the front porch, with a bloody piece of denim. Many would see that as DANGEROUS, but it's not! It's a dog defending his owner's property, the best way he knows how!

Edit: I got a grey CB, still looking to get more.

I have a CB ember that I'm hoping to use for this. I need to get back to work on breeding mine, but I'm waiting until I can get some more second gens since all that I have right now are spitfires and greys..... by some strange fate. I'm hoping if I can add some other stuff to the mix that I won't end up with a spitfire or grey when I've bred my even-gen out.

Off Topic but still close to topic:

I just finished reading The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and their tale of rescue and redemption by Jim Gorant.

One of the reviews on Amazon bashed it, declaring that it was gory and they had to put it down... so I was a little leery because just thinking about some of it can make me tear up. There are moments that are painful, but it's not gory, certainly not as bad as movies we watch, but this is different because we know it's true. Mostly this book focuses on the people; Vick's history, the people he socializes with, the investigators and how they got on this, the specialist called in, the people who stonewalled the effort in the interest of protecting a poor black boy who'd 'made good' and the amazing, out of the blue effort to see the dogs as victims, have them evaluated and saved instead of simply all being put down.

I picked it up and put it down a few times in the beginning (anxious about hitting an ugly part) and then, about 60 pages in, I sat down at 10pm and read all the way through til 2:45am and finished it. I had to know what happened and in the end they catalog the fate, happy or sad, for every single dog.

We know our dogs aren't vicious, I'm hoping that this book will open a few eyes. One thing I find interesting, is that a cover story by Sports Illustrated in 1987 labeled Pit Bulls as the most vicious dogs in America, now Sports Illustrated has taken a huge step in turning the tide. Personally, I think it was the least they could do, but they did it well. In researching to make sure I had my date right, I found a short article (writen by the BAD RAP folks) that expressed everything perfectly:

So I have a conundrum.

My grand plan for my perfect even gen lineage is being thwarted by my inability to get CBs or trade for 2nd gen PBs of the rarer breeds. I'm going to break down and ask in the Even/Perfect gen thread for some 2nd gens.

Obviously the trios and GoNs (not that I have one =p) can't breed to each other, and Vamps can't breed at all.

Since I'm getting rather limited in my pairings I thought I'd ask for some suggestions from you folks. Do you guys think I should mirror the breeds on the bottom of the lineage (using the same 8 breeds in the first generation twice instead of once) which will get me to 6th gen?

Should I just give up on my specific breed naming scheme and mix & match? I was already hoping to include my marrow x black 2nd gen, just because they look so pretty together. There are lots of crosses that look equally as nice.

I'm stuck because I see the merit in both, and I've already got to 4th gen in my original plan set up - just waiting for hatchies to mature.

All opinions are welcome, and thanks in advance!

Well, I don't know what to tell you. I kind of morphed my original plan for the FullFire lineage into a even gen hellfire/spitfire lineage so as to include the dragons in this lineage as well, but seeing as that I can only breed spitfires out of hellfire/spitfire pairs with the way ratios are right now, I've turned that back into what it was originally minus reds - even gen, includes Hellfires, Spitfires, Embers, and Magma - while still breeding my greys/terraes/magis together for another line.

Unfortunately I don't have any purebred pairs either, so I can't gift in this instance, but if anyone wants 2nd gen grey x magi, hellfire x spitfire, or spitfire x ember (and I think I'm missing a 2nd gen pair but I don't have my list handy), feel free to PM me - most of my pairs will be ready to breed by the end of the week.

Sign me up. Humans are waaaay more dangerous than any dog, and we're not banned yet.

I have a full scroll right now, but I'll definitely start when I have room. =P

I love dogs. This kind of thing annoys me to no end. How can they do such a horrible thing to dogs just because they have a bad reputation?

Sign me up!

I'm making an Magi/Red lineage. In fact, I started it before I learned about this. Unfortunately, the Red is from the abandoned page. I don't have a CB yet.

EDIT: Just looked at the list. I am absolutely furious right now. I have had 5 dogs in my life so far, and at least 3 are on that list. I don't own them now, but I do own the 2 others, and if they get on the list, I will hurt the person who thought of that law. *eye twitch* *growl*

Absolutely in!! Even if a dog is dog aggressive, that can be controlled. No Pitt Bull was bred to be Human Aggressive, that is poor temperament and awful breeding. Along with poor socialization.

I am working on an Ember Lineage, and I can Incorporate dog breeds and BSL into their names, especially with the renaming device coming soon biggrin.gif

OMG!

Ive had dobermans, pitbulls, and a doberman/pitbull & rhodesian ridgeback MIX that was the best dog I ever had..she was so smart, sweet & loving! Not a mean bone in her body...unless you were trying to harm ME..which she didnt take well! biggrin.gif

I wanted to mention you should add VINES to your dragon list(if not already added)!

They are considered vicious & will attack ANYTHING WITHIN RANGE,according to description...anyway,great idea,Ill get back to you re: joining your lineage when things are less hectic for me..glad that someone started this line! smile.gif

Rockin' On

Oh..I have o add this nasty part of my dogs story,as its so relevant to your point...I had taken her to my Aunts Holiday House(large/restaurant,bowling Alley,Mini golf course place in Ruidoso,New Mexico..where my Aunts reputation as a business person was sterling,Chamber of Commerce,Business people who got names in the tourist mags,etc.....WELL KNOWN/RESPECTED WOMAN OF MANY YEARS IN TOWNS OWNERSHIP OF OLDER & LONG RUNNING PLACES..

I know that everyone knew she had lots of her own hangers on dogs around all the time, nobody ever had any problems ever dealing with her mutts & brsd babies from AKC..she was a lover of animals..but MY MIX (dobie markings,pit-bull body, face, and very prominent ridge down her back) was just crossing the street directly across from her Motel,& she was TARGETED BY A SPCA WORKER FOR HER LOOKS,& SHOT WITH A DRUGGED. DART GUN...She died from either a broken off dart,or they O.D.d her..but nobody told my Aunt where/what happened to my dog..she just disappeared..never ever lost her way, knew home & wasnt ever far away..Luckily,people saw her being picked up after shot with dart & put into SPCA truck..my Aunt went berserk & showed up at the pound with a shovel & an attitude..she was furious, and was finally told that there were a pack of "WILD" dogs in town, and was mistakenly shot because she resembled a dog in this wild PACK!

Sick?But true..I cried for 2 weeks...SPCA never admitted wrong-doing xd.png

Hey this is Delphine here with an update.

Halloween 10 dragons have been added to the breeding list YAY tongue.gif Have fun plotting your new bloodlines. This just in I am also now working at an animal shelter here in Minnesota so my time is a little more limited. If we can get more active members I'll make an account for this lineage and pick moderators to help me run this project.

I also have an offical Doberman breeding pair if you want an offspring please feel free to PM me and get on a waiting list for babies ^-^

Here is their eldest I just breed after the Halloween rush

http://dragcave.net/lineage/cVBt

Know I will not breed any of my BSL dragons without someone asking for one unless I intend to keep it myself.

I will also breed 2 gen dobermans useing these parings

Magma x Ember, Black x Ember, Halloween x Ember, and Ember x Ember

I also plan on having a pitbull breeding pair as well as other doberman breeding pairs.

Oh also so great news for the Pit Bull breed

In Minnesota soem of our shelters have started a program for Pit Bulls and their owners alike to help educate owners on proper care of there dogs and of course to help out new owners of the adopted pit bulls at our shelters. ^-^ This will help by increasing the number of responsable owners and hopefuly through it downsize the number of dog attacks due to bad owners who are not properly training or caring for their dogs. We have also sadly busted a large dog fighting organization and because of serious agression have had to put many dogs down. However those that were able to be rehomed are waiting in the shelters now for someone to love them. My friends and I have seen idea's for teachign owners who fight pit bulls to find something better to do with their dogs such as agility or healthyer compettign activities that both dog and owner can enjoy. I am considering starting an all pit bull agility compatition hopefuly this summer if we can find enough people. ^-^

I apologize for my lack of activity lately. I've been obsessing over other projects and not spending enough time on this one.

On the up side, the addition of the Black Marrows gives me 2 more CB dragons to use. I'm going to look at how many dragons I have that are eligible for this and haven't been bred for a 2nd gen already... then I'll get my butt in gear and finally move forward on my even-gen project again. I just got frustrated with a lack of cooperation from my dragons.

Oh cool, yeah the Marrows just seem like they belong on the list and since you can breed them all year round I felt it was right to have them in this lineage.

Also I breed some more mateing pairs which shall be matched together once they mature and breed them ^-^ if you want babied from them I shall post my new pairs once they have matured and just PM me the pair you want.

I fully support awareness of this law and that it should not pass. I only have one Ember and thats it from the list, but I will look out for these. I have a abandoned spitfire with a lineage that includes alot.png of these. Yah know, I always said: I blame politics. And now, they've gone to far.

Just wanted to chime in and say I support your cause. I'll be working on a personal project with Embers but when I get babies that can't be used in that project, I'll be naming them for the BSL lineage, if that's OK.

The sweetest dog I ever knew was a rottweiler. The only problem she had was that she insisted on being a lapdog and my skinny legs were not up to that weight biggrin.gif

She was the proof that a perfectly socialized dog can still be protective: I have only once seen her agressive and that was when a drunk guy attacked her owner outside a bar when I was holding her leash a bit further away, talking to other people.

The drunk immediately backed of when he saw her charging at him, and the owner told her 'down' and she immediately listened. Nobody got hurt except me, as I was holding her leash and not prepared for her charge, so she dragged me a few meters biggrin.gif

The drunk filed a complaint with the police stating the dog was dangerous as it had hurt someone and I had to go to the police station to officially state that I didn't want to press charges blink.gif

So the only measure that should be taken to prevent serious dog attacks is to make every dog owner prove that their dog is well-trained.

Also, teaching people how to interact with dogs is very useful (in my town there is now a project where people with well-trained dogs visit schools to teach the children about dog behaviour. In the school I work one of the visiting dogs was a Dobermann, he was a lovely dog, but I did get some phonecalls from very worried parents afterward smile.gif )

Can I join?

I think its an excellent idea, here in Germany and many other European countries we do have BSL. (and different ones in different states on top of that), even though its been proven, that listed dogs arent any more dangerous than unlisted, like eg german shepherds. much more accidents with shepherds, than with listed dogs.

when it was first introduced lots of dogs were abandonned or even killed, ended up in shelters for the rest of their lives.

i took a ca 14 year old staffordshire terrier that had been abandonned in the forest.

and we had a in all probability purebreed old english mastiff that had been abandonned infront of a shelter at night.

i am an abolute novice at breeding, but i'll try and read through the rules,

Thanks for the update, Delphine. Good on you for working at a shelter!

So cool to hear your good news for the pitbulls in your state. And I think starting an agility program is an excellent idea! Agility is a fun way to help people train and bond with their dogs.

And on a breeding note, I'm glad Marrows are allowed =)

That meant I could name several dragons I have into the lineage, and can show off my 4th gen!

@ new member: Welcome aboard everyone we are all so happy you would like to help these dogs out.

@Fengari: And yes that would be just fine biggrin.gif

Also guys here is a little good news and a few fun video's on the 'dangerous' pit bull showing his true colors.

Pit Bulls are starting to hit the front line as therapy dogs.

http://www.pitbulllovers.com/training-arti...-pit-bulls.html

In other news the Vick dogs are getting a second leash on life. This shows us that even these fighting dogs can be helped and turned into great pets under the care and handeling of good responsable owners and of course under the watch of these wonderful people willing to reabilitate these dogs.

I hope that little ounce of good news bightens up some days.

thanks for letting me join, now i have just one more question.

do i have to start with a cb that is named according to lineage rules, bsl race name, or can i start with caveborns i have and naming their offspring?

sorry for sounding stupid, but this is the first time i'm having anything to do with lineages and breeding *g*

edit: forgot... does the name have to start with BSL or is ist ok to name something like Severus' BSL Mastiff censorkip.gif ?

as a sidenote: i dont know if anyone mentioned, i didnt have time yet to read through all the thread, pugs are probably listed because they are closely related to mastiff and are also are a molossoid breed.

Oh no it can start with CB's you already named and just name their babies. Also so long as the name has BSL in it the name can start with whatever so Severus' BSL Mastiff ---- will work just fine ^-^

Also welcome aboard Hallar happy to have you with us.
