Posted April 8, 2011 I was going to get it. But when I told my boyfriend he said my PC wouldn't be able to handle it. And that it wouldn't be able to handle the first Portal either. So. I'm stuck Portal-less. I wish I had my own Xbox 360.. or a gaming computer.. :/ Share this post Link to post
Posted April 9, 2011 My laptop is pretty bad, but the guy I got it from said it could handle it. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 9, 2011 I went to Gamestop to pre-order it. I am sad to report even with $5 off, its still $55. I hate being broke. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 10, 2011 PORTAL 2. Do want. But my computer can't even play the first version(stupid, stupid, stupid graphics card! need new one) so my sister will probably be the one to get it. But we're on Macs, so we might have to wait a while until the Mac version comes...*sigh* ~Cavey Share this post Link to post

Posted April 10, 2011 The price for this game is a bit hard to swallow after the first one came bundled in the orange box. Price aside, I won't be getting this game because the first one made me throw up from nausea hah. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 10, 2011 Yeah, the first one made me sick, crosseyed, and it once knocked me out for half a day (not pass out, had to stay in bed) BUT IT WAS FUN. Second one sounds better. I don't care how sick the games make me, as long as I don't die and they're fun. Ohyay parents will actually approve of the rating. They barely let me have Portal. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Yeah, I just checked the system requirements for Portal 2. My computer is actually okay. Graphics, CPU, everything.. Ijust won't be able to run it at the max. This is where I checked it by the way.. Here. And to double check, I looked here.. Right here. HD.. bah.. Edited April 10, 2011 by MellaBella Share this post Link to post
Posted April 11, 2011 Welp, I've got the pre-order And code for alternate skins, but I'll give that to my brothers Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 So. Lab Rat. What does everyone think about it? Is that... fan art? Or something official? *goes to read irregardless* Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 Is that... fan art? Or something official? *goes to read irregardless* Official, all canon, meant to bridge the time between Portal 1 and 2 ^^ Part two was released today. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 Official, all canon, meant to bridge the time between Portal 1 and 2 ^^ Part two was released today. Cool. The only Portal I've played is the free 'First Slice' that I downloaded on my laptop. I'm not sure if my graphics card would be up to the full Portal or Portal 2.. and I wouldn't really want to go out and get a gaming system just for the one game... but nor would I want to risk going and getting myself addicted to video games in general (that way leads ill fortune and flunking out of school due to "focusing on non-important things is so much easier")... Eh. What I'd really like is a Companion Cube plushie that's bigger than 6" by 6" and doesn't cost $30. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 First Slice shouldn't really be any less graphically taxing than Portal. How much time is in between portal 1 and 2? Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 First Slice shouldn't really be any less graphically taxing than Portal. How much time is in between portal 1 and 2? I think its a few centuries. Still can't wait for Portal 2 to come out, Portal 1 was short though but I thought it was fun in certain parts. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) I think its a few centuries. Still can't wait for Portal 2 to come out, Portal 1 was short though but I thought it was fun in certain parts. Yep, my guess is somewhere between 3 months (... GLaDOS is a lying liar who lies to cover her lies) and... 500 years. More likely 500. A lot of people are theorizing Portal 2 will lead into Half Life 2: Episode 3, by way of time travel/the Borealis/the G-Man (who may or may not be involved with time travel and/or the Borealis). Some other little tidbits you might enjoy: Portal 2 co-op was originally done with Chell and another human woman named Mel. This was cut because it wasn't all that funny watching your companion die, and the respawning didn't make a ton of sense. It was then switched to robots. Last I heard, a few portions of dialogue for the human co-op had been carried over for the robots. To make it funny. Aperture Science has been shown to have some pretty astounding capabilities- they can create gigantic chickens, can upload human consciousness into a computer (as shown with Cave Johnson, and possibly GLaDOS), human cloning (though they do not have souls. Nor do twins), create human/insect hybrids (Cave mentions a test about fighting 'mantis men'), and of course, space and possibly time bending holes in reality. Chell can speak. An interview with one of the Portal 2 writers revealed that he always had it in mind that Chell is perfectly able to speak, she just chooses not to in order to piss off GLaDOS. Part 2 of Lab Rat has revealed that GLaDOS' desire to kill even with a Morality Core showed rather early on, when she began exploring the idea of Schrodinger's Cat, and then planned an 'Aperture Science Bring Your Cat to Work Day'. The bad news is, reality doesn't exist. The good news? Aperture has a new cat graveyard. Chell is NOT a clone. While cloning technology did exist at Aperture, she was a voluntary test subject. Her file, shown at the end of Lab Rat, shows she has 'an extreme stubborn streak, and never gives up. Ever.' (Score one for my signature!) She also failed whatever preliminary tests she was given, and her file was marked with 'DO NOT TEST.' After GLaDOS killed off all the other employees, Doug managed to hack into the system and bump her into the testing list. He did this again in order to patch Chell's portion of long-term relaxation into the reserve power grid, as main life support was beginning to fail. Posted April 12, 2011 Did you remember that GLaDOS said to assume the party escort submission (lying on the stomach with the arms at the sides) ? Well, when AS exploded, you fell down lying on the stomach with the arms at the sides. The robot recognized it as the party escort submisson position and took you back. That's why there's a Portal 2. BTW, "Mel" in my language means honey... Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 Dude. I really want Chell's boots. Like for real. I know ._. Even if they don't protect from long falls, they look awesome and extremely comfy Share this post Link to post
Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) So. Goes by the title 'Alive and Kicking', I'm... actually, I like this more than the original. And this is only my second listen to the thing. The ARG is just going insane now, and I'm rather convinced something will happen on the 15th. It COULD be an early release of Portal 2, could be something else. Or Valve could be trolling. Note: This song is part of the still-running Portal 2 ARG that began on March... 1st or 3rd, 2010, and was apparently found in the game 1_2_3_ Kick It! ... I have no other knowledge of the game. ETA: Other songs recently shown in the ARG are: Possibly the first official song off the Portal 2 OST- I say 'possibly' because who knows any more. Cave Song, I don't know who it's by, or what purpose it serves, or if it'll be in the game. Again, no clue, but it's part of the ARG and sounds awesome. Possibly a remix of something.
