Abortion

xd.png Leave it to Monty, right?

Sad thing is, I'm sure those very same politicians vying for that are the ones being the most 'wasteful.' xd.png

The one 'vying' for it is a woman with a point to make and a terrible, ill-conceived way of going about making it.

That counter-bill makes me grin. >3

Lol I think this is really, really cool and a great way for guys to actually think about what they're proposing.

Sad that they'll never, ever, ever pass in my country though. Anyways, those lawmakers have my absolute support.

So, I think that, in a way, these petty bills are almost justified. If men are going to require the violation women for no reason, women might as well make a small rebuttal. Granted, two wrongs don't make a right, but it sure as hell makes you feel better in the end.

You believe that a woman should use her power to institute the very real violation of thousands of men in order to make a point to a male politician?

Forgive me if I find that beyond gruesome and horrifying.

I don't think it's actually expecting such a bill to pass, but the fact that a woman did in fact bring it up as a suggestion is hopefully enough to be an eyeopener for some people. I think that was the point, not that it would actually go through and be passed.

So yeah, I believe that was justified. Because I highly doubt anything like that would be passed, therefore in the end it wouldn't matter anyway.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/30/m..._n_1242627.html It was defeated 21 to 19. That is anything but a narrow margin.

Try again on "highly doubt evil will ever be passed so it's justified to be evil".

ETA:

And a man hasn't used his power to do exactly the same?

And because some men are evil, evil in return is justified?

Two wrongs don't make a right, though.

On one hand, if this kind of thing is what knocks sense into people - then necessary evil.

On the other hand, I highly doubt this will change the mind of anyone whose it is trying to change.

EDITing to expand and clarify and I don't feel like posting again right now:

There is no benefit from this legislation. It's not getting through to who the point is aimed at and what happens if it does manage to pass? I want to be equal, not to get even. Honestly, I think people are getting frustrated and resorting to desperate measures to try and get their point across because the people who need to be listening just aren't. Personally, I think someone in power needs to be able to say 'knock if off' and completely kill the legislation and leave it at that. I'm quite sick and tired of this stuff myself. I'm glad people still care but there's got to be a better way.

Eh, if it passed, I don't know how you'd plan to tell the innocent men who were violated that what was done to them was in any way necessary.

But what about those innocent women who were violated? All they wanted was an abortion performed with as little invasion and as much privacy as possible.

What Socky said, "...if this kind of thing is what knocks sense into people - then necessary evil." is pretty much what I'm talking about. You can raise awareness groups all you want, but it's the lobbyist that has the deepest pockets that holds the most influence when it comes to something like this, period.

What about them? Honestly. In what way does violating women makes it OK to violate men? Are they not both violation? Ought not both be something that should not occur? Than why in the world would proposing to violate men be an acceptable, justifiable response to a proposal to violate women?

This was an act by a woman in power to make a point to another woman in power, using innocent people as pawns. That is not OK. Do something else to get through their thick skulls, something else with lower collateral.

If one proposal horrified people, the other should too, but apparently some would rather laugh about it or consider it in some manner justified. Equal violation under the law is no equality I want a part of.

ETA to your ETA: Oh, you can justify using an ultrasound to scan for a pregnancy, you absolutely can. Read back--WereJace already addressed whether or not vaginal ultrasounds are the only kind that can even detect a pregnancy at that stage. Don't even 'logic fail' that. And do you honestly think that any good doctor would prescribe Viagra without taking into account the health of their patient? You think they really for seriously need a LAW to tell them how to take care of their patients?! This is too disgusting to continue, I've got to take a break for a while.

I do believe that yes, some times in order to correct wrongs, you have to take a step back in order to take two steps forward. It may not make sense in text, but if we were going to have this "equal violation", I can almost guarantee both "laws" would get nixed far quicker. Besides, what alternative have you come up with that would get things through to those idiot law makers?

Again, not that I would ever expect this to actually make it through, narrow margin or not. So yes, necessary evil.

WFT was that a guy with those kids. xd.png

but back on subject. it still does not give anyone the right to violate anyone, woman or man. no good can come from either if there past but the one for the males will hopefully open up there eyes. i personalty thing anyone voting on those should be made to watch a power point or something to be more informed. the bad thing is a lot of people don't read into these subjects there voting on and just go by what is shown in the question. if people would look this stuff up before they vote there would probably be less uneven judgments.

in the video 'Kelly Cassidy Proposes 'Viagra Amendment' To Ultrasound Mandate In Illinois' that fuzzbucket put up here they did not show that a vaginal ultrasounds aren't they talking about the same law we been talking about here?

I am fairly new to this site and this topic but I am going to state my opinion anyway. smile.gif I believe that abortions should only be allowed if you were raped and even then I don't think you should automatically get one. Life starts at conception and even the smallest fetus is human being who abortion murders in my views.

Please provide scientific evidence that life starts at conception as a fetus.

I'm wondering if you have any propositions for how the law would be able to uphold this? It really just makes things even worse for women who have been raped. 3=

I think maybe I am sorry I posted the link. I thought it might make some of the people here who seem to be OK about preventing women having abortions think how it might feel to be a man who was denied a medical procedure he wanted until he had watched a gruesome video (cue Viagra, as priapism IS a known risk and that ain't pretty, and a man doesn't HAVE to have sex, he can choose not to if he would otherwise have to take a medical risk - which is what people are saying a woman should do - abstain if she doesn't want to risk the need for an abortion ...)

And also - to all those men saying no to abortions - just remember that the next time you "don't like rubbery condoms" or you "want it, come on baby, if you really loved me.."

The day men actually do something about MALE contraception MIGHT be the day I would take their views about women's bodies seriously. Till then we have the right to control ours.

Wow, that would lead to some awfully horrible outcomes. A woman has already been catastrophically traumatized by rape and now she has to go through nine months of pregnancy (which is medically dangerous and might be fatal) to carry the rapist's child to term? Who on earth would want to put a woman through that, when the child is likely not even wanted? (And don't even start on the subject of adoption: that system is hideously broken and a lot of kids in it are absolutely miserable, some of them to the point of suicide.)

If you can look a sexually violated woman in the eyes after she's been raped, tell her she's pregnant, and then tell her that you'd force her to bring the baby to term... all I can say is, you're a stronger person that I.

I know a women who did carry a child that was a result of a rape. The child was born healthy and happy. He turned out to be a blessing. The mother is happy she gave birth to the little one. (Before you ask, it was the mother's choice)

No I am not saying they shouldn't have an abortion. This should be up to the mother. I think it's wrong to force a mother to keep a fetus that's a result of a rape.

I'm just say that if they do decide to keep the child, it might turn into a good thing. If they want to abort, then there is nothing you can do. *shrugs* Shoot me if I'm wrong.

No, you are not wrong. I think more the point was that woman who've been raped should never be forced to carry a rape baby against their will. If they want an abortion, they should be able to get one immediently.

Things may be picking up a bit...

Male legislators kind of asked for this one.... xd.png

(Yes it's frivolous. BUT NOT REALLY.)

Wow. That's really mature, eye for an eye and all.

And frankly, if we're going down the route of watching videos to see side effects of things, I'd better start making videos so everyone can start seeing the side effects of smoking, drinking, skiing, driving a car, growing old, having diabetes...

I did say I was sorry I posted that link - the idea was only to get men to think about the kind of thing they were suggesting for women.

Which is all that should count. Pregnancy is a blessing for those who want it and a terror to those who don't. With all the hormones, changes in body and emotional turmoil, those who are not strongly edging towards either end of the scale are fairly rare.

You shouldn't be sorry for posting it, fuzzbucket. It happened. Just because we didn't know about it and you brought it to our attention means you did anything that needs to be apologized for. It would have been brought to our attention with the discussion of the legislation that had been passed, anyway.

Why I am sorry is because I didn't think it through. As someone already said - being awful to someone just because they are awful to you is not the way to go. It gets to be a daft tit for tat thing and escalates and no-one gets anywhere. When I saw people start to say way to go, I realised my mistake. Because it isn't way to go at all.

I just saw it being proposed as a way to make men - and other people who are anti-abortion - think. I don't think it worked. In any sense.
