Posted August 18, 2010 Oh, wow, I was so scared that this would be a multi-day thing!!!! Thank goodness it was just a cable!! Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Servers do have moving parts. In particular, there are some pretty hardcore fans needed to keep everything cool. Yeah, but really? Most of the servers I've dealt with have very heavy duty cables and attachments in addition to the fans. Like we struggle to detach them when we need to. Most of them require a screwdriver. It sounds like the host just messed up. Either way, thanks for the update. Good to know that it's back. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Ha ha....O'Toole's commentary on Murphy's Law states that Murphy was an optimist. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 LOL, seriously? Well, at least we know what happened and it should be fixed now. :3 Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Thanks for the update, TJ (the reason it was down made me laugh). Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 The servers tried to pull the plug Thanks for telling us. Found it weird the I was unable to connect to DragCave for a while for no reason Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Glad to know everything's okay and it wasn't a terrible problem. ^^ Thanks for the update! Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 That is quite possibly the lamest excuse for downtime ever. I keep giggling. Hopefully, that was also the cause of the lag. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Murphy's Law really does mean anything. *rolls on the floor, laughing uproariously* So... our server decided to unplug itself and have a little holiday... Way to go, Dragcave! *gets out the duck tape* Thanks for the lol, TJ. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 this server had some good vibrations I guess ;3 but if we do fall for murphy's law...I wonder, what will happen next Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Thanks for letting us know, TJ. There's some wonky English in that explanation but it's amusing, nonethelss. *leaves brownies for TJ and everyone else* Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) o0; interesting way to have things go awry, lol. Murphy's law indeed. *nibbles on a brownie* thanks lagie! Edited August 18, 2010 by linka1 Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Sounds like they need to replace the cables if you ask me.. I've seen too many times where the ONLY way to get them out is to break the prong that sticks out to PREVENT vibrations from jiggling it loose! That does explain the lag of the past few days though... bad connection between the server and the switch.... makes sense to me! LOL Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Wow! That is rather interesting! Thanks for telling us TJ! Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Huh... o.0 Well then, tell our cables not to take a holiday next time, and that they have to get back to work. Clear skies from here on out, hopefully! Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 The Tech checked the connectivity of the patch cable between your server and the switch. After that it worked again. So I think it was not snapped it all the way and was getting loss do the vibrations. Are they foreign or is that how they always speak english? Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2010 Thank goodness it was something so easy to fix. I would have cried if it had been so complicated that the site was down for an extended period of time. Share this post Link to post
