  12. Yay! I immediately thought of the Forest Spirit the moment I saw those huge antlers, too! ;D So far my starter choice is Fennekin, and my game/legendary choice is Y and Yveltal. I am a huge sucker for deer, but just slightly a greater sucker for bird-things. :3 My mind's still very open, though, especially with all the excitement over type combinations for the evolved starters. :3 @Dragonshadows: Yeah, I do agree the stories aren't the best, but I still enjoy them. If you're taking issue with the 5th gen's humanoid pokemon, I can see your point there, too keep in mind that there were always some huhmanoid pokemon, like Medicham, or (even from the first generation) Mr. Mime and Machop.
  13. Warning: The moment, I saw the new pokemon in the announcement, my childhood rushed back into me. If I sound like an annoying, obsessive fangirl, I apologize in advance. ^^; I heard about the games in the middle of the school day from a friend- and I was thinking "No way! Really?" I was super excited, and when I got home, I immediately looked up the announcement, watched it, was amazed, and replayed the video at least two more times! This is probably the best surprise I could get- it made me super happy, and was completely unexpected! ;D And the games are for the 3DS- the graphics are a beautiful leap forward from what I've seen! The battles look awesome with those graphics, and yet still retain just enough of the old style! And this time, instead of teasing us with just the first one or two showing up in a movie, they actually announced the legendaries, starters, game names, and even the release month of the games: this October! And it gets better- they're doing a worldwide release this time- I don't have to wait all those months knowing that people are already defeating the elite four! And they've announced the English starter names, too! So the games are called X and Y! I'm not sure which I want. At first I thought X sounded cooler and I should get it since my first game was Pokemon X-D Gale of Darkness. But the legendaries in both look epic- I can't decide which is cooler, but I love their simpler yet stylish designs! Also, I think this may be the first game where I like the fire starter the best and the water one the least- that's a switch! But yes! A fennec fox! Love at first sight! I also like the grass one, 'cause we need more mammalian-looking grass pokemon, but it just looks like a general... mammal, no particular species. I guess I'll see when the evolutions are shown. I can't wait for any future news! I hope I'm not the only one here who likes the newer generations as well as the old and loves a new release!
  14. How do you guys always manage to outdo yourselves with events? That game is so addicting! Thanks so much, everyone who helped make it! <3 I can't wait until the new releases! Happy holidays everyone!
  15. My favorites: Avatar: The Last Airbender- this was and is my all-time favorite show. I love Legend of Korra nowadays too Pokemon- I saw a lot of the earlier seasons on DVD, but I remember tuning in to Cartoon Network from Battle Frontier onwards. Teen Titans Kim Possible Ben 10 (and a bit of Alien Force) Phineas and Ferb- while I prefer overarching stories, this is so witty I love it and still watch it Others I watched: This one show on Animal Planet called "The Most Extreme"- it showed off animals that were top in some category (fastest, most venomous, smartest), and I learned so many random facts. SpongeBob Lilo and Stitch the series This old cartoon on Disney Jr. with some kid named Stanley- this is what I think really got me interested in animals- especially exotic ones Jimmy Neutron American Dragon: Jake Long Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide The Magic School Bus Things I regret not watching even though they came on often: Danny Phantom Kids Next Door- I barely watched this, but looking back, it sounds so fun! Recess Fairly Odd Parents
  16. I don't have a favorite because I like so many of them! To name a few in no real order, there's Aladdin (it's a great, fun movie Jasmine was my favorite princess as a kid), The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog (my mom's from Louisiana so I recognized all the culture, and loved it), Tangled (it's so dang pretty), Treasure Planet, and Mulan. I'm pretty sure I can sing more Dinsey songs all the way through than pop music. I love all the Pixar movies too, especially Ratatoullie since I owned a pet rat. :3 I remember watching The Lion King just last summer at sleepaway camp. Everyone came up in pajamas, we laid out our sleeping bags, and we all watched it from a laptop attached to a projector. At first, the laptop fell asleep right before "I Just Can't Wait to be King" came on, and everyone FREAKED out! I was so happy to see a room full of high schoolers excited to watch The Lion King, sing along to every song, and have such a passionate reaction to it pausing.
  17. Awesome! These events just keep gaining more and more fun stuff! Thanks, everyone involved! Happy Halloween to all!
  18. Wow, there were so many great pictures! I loved this theme! But I finally narrowed my vote down to one!
  19. I love video games, absolutely, but I actually rarely play them nowadays because I'm focused on my schoolwork, and other interests. Life's quite a balancing act. But the games I liked were always ones with interesting stories, above all else. The characters and plots of most of the games I play are what compel me to keep going in the game, and I love them. Video games are, amongst other things, another medium to tell a story with. What I learn from them ties into that too. I feel I learn about storytelling and plot, and you can take some things away form a game that you can from things like books, like with cautionary tales, or historical fiction. I don't play many "get the high score" or "shoot 'em up" type games, but I'm sure they have some sort of value, like better hand-eye coordination. I think "gameified" learning would be great if executed right, but it would depend on what kind of game it is (i.e. one where you try to get the highest score vs. one where you try to beat it and reach the end), if that is the type preferred by whoever is supposed to be playing the game, and how well it can mix with what you're teaching. But I encourage such a fun idea that respects gaming 100 percent! ;D Being a huge nerd, I recently saw an exhibition at an art museum called "The Art of Video Games," which perfectly explained how they can be a respected, unique medium. There was a book that went with the exhibit, and if you read its introduction, I think it could be of great use to you since it can tell better than I can what's so great about games. This link has an excerpt which contains that introduction. I really hope I helped, this just sounds great!
  20. Yay! Halloween! One of my favorite holidays! My current plans are to simply have as much room as possible on my scroll for eggs and to get all the right mates (correct lineage and breed) for my dragons. *rushes off to grab eggs* I'm also really looking forward to what event TJ has planned for us this year. He tops the previous event practically every time! ;D
  21. Awesome theme! Man, I can't find the pictures I took one time of this pair of hawks... until/unless I find them, this pair of doves is my entry.
  22. While I'm not really one for gushing, I'm currently obsessed with the Batman movies, so I like Christian Bale. Plus he, and another favorite, Daniel Radcliffe are apparently rather nerdy(Daniel can sing " " song ). I also liked how Bale went to visit the victims of the shooting in Aurora. I think my number one favorite celebrity right now, though, is Tara Strong, an epic voice actor (she's done voices ranging from Timmy Turner to Raven from Teen Titans). (edited because I can't spell XP)
  23. This theme is awesome. Such a cool variety of things that fit! ;D And St.Jimmy, I vote sand cliffs. For my entry, I'll go with this slug.
  24. I support a change to the cracking egg, whether it's crumbling or nibbling. Personally, I think nibbling would be very cute. I agree it could just be chewing its way out, not eating.
  25. Found two nice even gens today! Don't you hate those stray /view/ links?
