  1. Lots of bad stuff going on in RL for me Valid, but I re-read your most recent post. I'm not the only GM, and if someone does get confused on things then we can just help them. Plus they can always get a hold of me on Discord (I can't figure out how to edit my signature with this new forum format though so I can't put it in)
  2. My hypoglycemia is really bad at the moment and I can't figure out where that (possible) fix is supposed to be located so I'll look at it again once I get my blood sugar under control and can concentrate for more than 30 seconds.
  3. Valid. It depends on the sentence and whether you're British or American. "On" is correct, because we aren't talking about subterranean lifeforms (unless a player's nation is in fact doing that). I often put commas where I'd personally take a breath for dramatic effect when reading aloud. Wrong sense. If I said either of your sentences, then I'd be talking about restrictions, but I'm in fact referring to potential hope. I can add "the" but the word you're looking for as a replacement is "might". I don't know what a player may or may not do. No one will keep track of any numbers in this RP. The other GM and I made sure of this because we played similar games and got sick of hypocritical players getting perturbed about one-note technological progress and doing it themselves, or gods being able to overthrow nations whose populace worshiped them. So I'm sticking with "amount". It isn't "there are 857 worshipers of the fire god within the ocean side nation", it is "there are worshipers of the fire god in the ocean side nation". That way no one thinks that the royalty is religious, or what percentage is faithful.
  4. A pale fog filled the space where a universe used to be. The universe was still there, but all the matter had dissolved, the energy had dissipated. The Heat Death of the Universe wasn't what so many species had expected, but it might as well be. But there was something, outside of what could be seen or known, that stirred. It looked out at the present from behind forgotten eons and lost futures, and reality itself swirled and condensed. No Big Bang was needed to restart the universe itself. A god was using the unfocused raw material to create a new one itself. The coldly warm glow of dust was condensed and a star was born. A few planets came next. More and more of the same. It got boring very quickly for the eternal. Life was made on a world chosen at random. The god focused its attention, and its perception might as well be akin to a microscope. A life form was tortured, but not allowed to die. It adapted and grew stronger, smarter, more nervous, more easily frightened, and braver. It became smarter than everything else on its world, but also slower and weaker. The species split into various traveling groups and eventually settled in each place. Then they met one another again and fought and killed each other. Some of the tribes joined together for protection, and the biggest of them all began to impose their social standards on the others. The god unfocused itself, and it ran into a problem for the first time. The animals had noticed the god's presence somehow at some point, but the different tribes all had different ideas of what it was. The god was not one god. There were many versions of itself, and it could not reform. Its movement was restricted. Its mannerisms controlled! The tiny minds of the beings it had played with were now in control of the god. But it noticed that if it didn't fight back, then they wouldn't either, and they could be controlled again, to a degree. The god could only have freedom to a degree too. One family, that had taken control of the primary accumulated tribe, called itself an Empire. And thus began the new age of civilization. ---one thousand years later--- Emperor Marcus Augustus II, last of the House of Ulgard, lies dying without an heir. The many nations of the restive Vesperian Empire wait for his final breath. This is where you come in. You are a nation of the Vesperian Empire. Your people might be human, non-human or a melting pot. You might have been brought into the Empire by force, or have joined willingly to claim a share in the spoils. None of that matters now. The imperial throne is vacant and you have a once-in-a-millennia chance to pick a side. Or put up your own candidate for the job. The choice is yours. The lore has so far been left intentionally vague so that your imagination can run wild. All that we ask is that your nation is original and fits a medieval fantasy theme. Ditto with your god. Otherwise, go nuts. How the game will work: Your character sheet should have a nation, which is part of a greater nation (kind of how England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are all British) and your sheet should also have a god (the god of the state religion in someone else's nation). This is so neither nations nor gods can become too powerful or curb-stomp newer or less military-oriented characters. Once your character sheet is approved, post something. Each turn you will get two actions -- one for your god, one for your nation. Three sentences minimum each action. Actions are 'a single thought' so that could be a nation attempting to develop or institute something, or a god manipulating its sect popularity, performing a realistic miracle (realistic for that god), or just about anything else. You are also allowed and encouraged to write character interactions outside your formal actions! Nations control their own government, military, and society -- which might mean the creation of religious sects. The possibilities are endless, but some typical nation actions could be: -Research a new technology -Invade a rival nation -Implant a spy in another nation -Bribe the Imperial Bureaucracy -Manage a trade route -Mess with the taxation rate of one of your industries Gods meanwhile control which sect is the most popular, so a peaceful god can become a warrior if a warrior sect becomes more popular than their passive one/s, for example. Gods also control their faithful, but zealots especially. Gods can also perform miracles but the level of power they have is tied in with the amount of worshipers they have, and varying sects with different beliefs could alter how powerful different types of miracle could be. Typical god actions might include: -Create a magical artifact for mortals -Bless an army going into battle -Create a natural law -Create a new race or sub-race -Instigate a nation or industry with religious pressure -Increase/decrease a sect's popularity And so on. At the end of a turn, all actions will be rolled for by the GM, and actions involving rival players or NPCs may involve defensive rolls from their side. The more ambitious the idea, the harder the roll will be. It's mostly roleplay. We want to keep it medieval or early colonial, but even with magic and miracles, there are equivalences. You can't have an entire army of mages casting fireball because it's the same thing as a squadron of riflemen with guns that don't explode 60% of the time in the sniper's face. That's too high of tech. Dark age, medieval, early colonial. That's it. At the end of the turn, the other GM JoJo will post the results of your actions for that round. I'm a GM too, but since I'm also one of the 'center stage' players, I won't be using my GM powers besides character approval and arbitration. In-game rules and success/failure of nation/god behaviors are entirely in JoJo's hands since he will be taking an impartial position, only responsible for the Imperial Bureaucracy and other NPCs. Please find nation and god templates below, or feel free to create your own if you'd prefer a different format: God template God name: Domain: Appearance: Personality: Bio: Worshippers: Nation template Nation name: Head of State: Race(s): Territory: Culture: History: This RP takes place on another site as its main. I created it here as well because the other site has some issues, and some players can't get their accounts recovered.

OOC @ Avialae: Vulpine's lockjaw was from an infection from rust on a metal spike that was attracted because of your skull being magnetic. It affected your entire body because your cells aren't specialized that far yet, so it affected everything. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @Aster: The slime's wings were strong, but didn't contain any memories pertaining to the lights. Whatever they were, the slime would learn eventually if it kept flying. After a long time of flying, it felt the need to rest a little. Something inorganic and gray, shining a dark light from the orb on top, looked like a good place to rest since it was nice and high up. A line of black with double yellow in the middle stretched along, and the slime's eyesight showed it went all the way to the lights. After resting a short while, the light below the slime stopped shining, as well as many of the others lighting the path to the light cluster. @Vulpine: (unlocked: lockjaw gland) The inorganic, hot spiky thing that stabbed into the slime's neck luckily dislodged, with difficulty, when the slime stuck its head underground. It was cooler below the terrain than above it, but the slime's increased movements only made the strange lack-of-movement feeling worsen. The slime calmed down when it couldn't move, mostly since it didn't have a choice. After awhile, it felt much better and could move again. However, it was extremely hungry now! @Tellin: When the slime oozed to the right, it felt like there was nothing except moving air, but much cooler than the hot air the slime was in that had all the hot wet and pokey bits. When it went left, it felt a much more open space, but it had spiky bits past that. Below, something very soft and wet and hot moved with a lot of strength, and the frantic moving began again. The thing below the slime moved again, and with all the flailing, the slime felt itself go backwards and get stuck in something with hot wet organic all around, and finally nothing spiky.

@Dewdrop: The way forward for the slime was up the inorganic, now lacking any organic, at least where it had already touched. The organic was so thin, that even though it was very big, it didn't really amount to much. Up the slime went, mostly using the wet pushing it against the inorganic to go up more. As it went up and up, it found more and more of the surprisingly hard, thin, flaky, dry organic. Dry no matter how wet everything, including the slime, was.

OOC @Dragonhatchling @Avialae Since you two seem to be getting busier, I am going to break your party at least temporarily. If you trust my machinations then stick with what I'm doing and it'll pay off, or at least that's my intention. (Avisk, Aster, and Zeditha are going to see something important.) Also Dragon, make sure you update your slimes from Dragon Cave and Escapist here. OOC See, this is why I need to update far more often! I hint vaguely at something and giggle to myself, knowing what it is but keeping it secret. Then a month or two goes by and I have no idea what was going on or what I was talking about. Hmm. OOC @Avialae: Tetanus and yeast. ----------------------------------------- @Dewdrop: (unlocked: barnacle, mussel flesh) The big organic the slime started consuming with the main part of its body didn't have any flavor at all, and it was extremely hard to absorb at all, but the part it was absorbing with its thunder was so much easier to absorb, but there was a very small amount of it. It already felt inorganic rough, and then the slime felt the same thing under the rest of itself. The inorganic was below the organic, and it was big. Dry was up, wet was down. Wet hit the slime again, almost making it go somewhere else. @Zeditha: The fast-smelly wasn't as fast as the slime had thought earlier. Maybe it really was, but it had kept stopping for some reason and it was able to catch up? Either way, there were a lot more smells coming from the thing, whatever it was. It kept along the flat long black but went to the shiny dull gray and dumped blue and brown things on top of itself, and then went a little further each time. Something... the slime felt strange. A feeling it had never had before. Something about the direction the fast smelly was going made it feel... @Aster: The up-wet kept falling, and it didn't seem to want to stop. The only things the slime could see anymore was the organic it was climbing and resting on, and eating that would probably not be the best idea. No sounds were heard except for the up-wet hitting things, and after waiting a very long time, boredom already having set in, the slime started feeling tired. When it awoke, everything was wet, and it was still dark, but its own increased visual abilities and the small lights from far above granted it vision. Now able to notice it rather well from the height it had unintentionally gotten to, there were much brighter lights on the down, far away. Maybe something was there that had better food. Maybe Small went that way too, since it wasn't seen or heard anywhere around as far as it could tell. @Vulpine: ... and the container with the slime inside, flipped over, trapping it. The sharp hot was even deeper now in the slime's slime, and it was hard to move the area behind the slime's head. It wasn't organic, and whatever was on it was now spreading through the slime, but something else was now too. It felt like it was making air inside itself, all over and through itself, and some of the slime's movement in its wings had stopped, though it still was trying to move. Something was working faster, making the slime almost incapable of any movement. @Av-value: (unlocked: garden snail) After absorbing enough of the dry organic, the slime came across something completely different. It wasn't organic, but it had a flavor to it, and it made the slime feel like it was burning. Whatever this painful... liquid was, it was not something it wanted to keep touching. Wherever other organic things that the slime wanted might be, it was now totally unable to concentrate on eating, and could now only react to injury. @Yawela: The weight of the inorganic was falling on top of the slime, but it was able to reach the organic that did and didn't have a hole. The more the slime tried to push the inorganic, wet inorganic, out of the way, the more it pushed back, and it was winning easily! The slime in fact only barely was able to rub part of itself against the strange organic. How big was it? The slime did not know and could not find out since it couldn't be excavated or embedded within its slime. @Dianora: The pokies hurt even more now that the slime intentionally impaled itself on them. But since its slime was on it, they could be absorbed, so temporary pain was maybe not important? The tips of the spikes absorbed quickly, which was a relief of the same rate. Along the bottom of the pit the slime now found itself in, there was a puddle of water thick with... organic? It felt weird though. @Chappie: Strange, the pokey was still pokey, it was just the slime had gotten used to feeling it, and it didn't matter anymore. Since the wiggly wasn't moving anymore, that also added to the slime's comfort, though it still wanted to absorb something organic. It was on top of something organic, and had been sitting motionless there for quite awhile, not doing anything of importance. While it rested, it could start to realize something- it wasn't one single curved smooth, but lots of them, and they each had pokies. Why weren't they moving now?

OOC So, my bad neighbors are finally (am I jinxing it?) quiet and I can start to concentrate! Trying to get caught up. As usual, parties of slimes (Dragonhatchling + Avialae right now) might break and reform based on player posting frequency/desire. So the party is broken now, but it could reform by the end of the post since you're still in the same area, just not actively in each other's visual range due to Avisk's backflames accidentally lighting some swamp plants on fire. Luckily it rains a lot in such places, but as this roleplay exaggerates pollution, improper waste disposal, and human irresponsibility, acid rain is far more common. @Avialae: Thanks for your OOC. I'd forgotten most of what Vulpine got, except for the magnetic skull. Also I have no idea what the bitter was from earlier. I could make up something new to account for it, but I wouldn't mind trying to see what it actually was. Do you have an idea what I was hinting at? I thought it was coffee + sugar, then realized the sweet was a pear. ------------------------------------------------------ @Avvalue: (unlocked: rock moss) The slime was able to absorb enough of the organic that it was able to feel better than it was, but it wasn't filling at all. More organic had to be found. Something better. It wasn't able to find anything better though, unfort... something crusty and dry, flaky and almost non-existent was there. It went in an odd shape... maybe if the slime kept absorbing along its shape, it would be better. @Dewdrop: The slime found something that it was very aware was organic, and it seemed bigger than the slime was. It felt odd, and though it felt dry, it still felt wet. That didn't make sense, but organic was organic, and that's what this was. No, there was a second flavor. Two organics! The first one was huge, the second one wasn't. Neither moved. @Tellin: After a few moments, the slime was able to safely tell that it wasn't hurt anymore, and the hot wet thing wasn't moving anymore, and... nothing was moving anymore. Why, it didn't know, but it could tell that the thing making hot air wasn't doing that now. There was no air movement either. It was surrounded by organic, and nothing was stopping it from consuming whatever it wanted to now. At least for now. The pokey bits were still poking the slime, but it didn't seem to hurt as much as it did before. @Dianora: (unlocked: water moccasin) The glowy was in the slime's way of its eyes really. Was it? Maybe it didn't need to have a glowy in between both sets of its eyes, but that's what it had now. Back in the wide open place that didn't make the slime cut its head in half and heal as two heads, there was a lot of organic. The slime didn't get much out of what it had absorbed in the hole, but at least it was something. Something good enough to let it move a little bit more. There was a lot of up-pointing organics around, and some on the ground, if it was brave enough to enter the wide open place. @Yawela: The organic the slime found was very hard, and... the shape wasn't something the slime had ever felt before, but that was true for almost everything it had yet experienced. It was smooth too, but had a hole in it? No, it wasn't a hole. It was partially a hole, but then it wasn't. It felt the inorganic it had been feeling before it got under the organic, and found this totally new organic. What was this thing? Organic. It was organic. @Zeditha: The tall green thing with white disappearing fluffy was hot and smelled bad, like something that should be consumed as quickly as possible, but when the puffy went away, so did the smell. The heat remained, however. Perching on the rim of the up-facing hot puffy yucky smelling hole didn't seem like the best idea, and the green was much taller than the slime had expected. Nearby, on the other side of some black flats, were other shapes that were tall, but not as tall as the thing the slime was flying over. The light was starting to come more and more now, and with the attention the slime had already received when it was dark, it somehow felt like it might not want to be as visible as it was. Not in this place. @Aster: The slime thought it heard a chirrup from upwards... but maybe not? As it kept moving, and making noise, it figured out it was below it. No, it was above. The wet was everywhere, the smoke was gone, and all of the light from everywhere was gone now too. Up. It was definitely up. Would the slime be able to get up those sidebeams to get on the same one Small was on? One way to know! @Avisk: The branch of the organic was the best thing the slime could think of using while the up-wet continued. Luckily, or maybe pointlessly, the smoke cleared as the up-wet made it go away, but it was also too dark now to see, what with a combination of lack of light and a thick layer of up-wet in the air in front of the slime. The smoke didn't need to obscure the slime's vision- other things were doing that now. It thought it heard a sound from Unsure, but if it did, it was drowned out by other noise. @Vulpine: The slime was surprised to find that the thing that it thought was wet wasn't wet at all, it was just shiny and hot! Trace amounts of something was found there, and it made the slime feel strange, almost as if something inside it was trying to happen but couldn't. When the slime moved to where it was, it felt something pokey and hot jamming into it. No, that wasn't it. The slime's movement only made the pokey hot thing move itself into the slime, near the parts it used to see.

@Avisk: The things that the slimes were fighting below were gone, somehow. The heat from the light was gone too, and the up-wet sounded loud and fast, hitting everything around. The smoke began to clear, but the wet drops were so numerous that it was hard to see. Where was even Unsure? The slime couldn't figure out where anything was now. (OOC I haven't gotten a hold of Avialae over Discord for even longer than I haven't posted. I don't know where she is, and was hoping to continue the party so I waited for her response. That of course in addition to my depression and lack of energy due to bad neighbors keeping me from being able to rest or be creative.) (Other OOC So, if you guys aren't already on my Discord, come join in. There are a LOT of events I missed, but since that's only my fault, you all get a +1 event request for each event and slime since my previous post's date.) @Avisk: The air started moving so much and so suddenly that the slime nearly fell from its watching place! Getting a better grip might be a good idea... but besides that, the moving air and up-wet made the fire go away, and the smoke clear. Wherever Unsure was, the slime was unsure itself. The food that the slime had acquired would have to be good enough for the area, since it didn't see where any of the rest of it was. There was a lot remaining before, wasn't there? Where had it gone? The dark started coming early, but something about that didn't seem right to the slime, but it didn't know exactly why. @Tellin: The movement the slime experienced was severe now, even worse than before it decided to start counterattacking! After a much more vigorous wild flailing, the movement had a large down-thrust, then no movement anymore... well, maybe a little. The little slime had gotten what it had tried for, finally! @Avvalue: Trying to move up against the sludgy organic was apparently the only way to go, but the slime couldn't get through it, it was too heavy. But it was organic! The inorganic below wasn't anything that seemed anything important, and without being able to move freely it really didn't have much choice of what to do, whether it liked it or not. @Dewdrop: (unlocked: Barq's root beer gland, carbonation gland) The slime was able to absorb, with much effort and discomfort, the delicious shiny brown, but it got WAY MORE of the inorganic below it too. If it couldn't get rid of that it would have quite the difficulty at being able to absorb anything else. Then again, maybe the slime could find some other thing to do.

@Trebonth: Deep in a swamp, what had become sludge shifted, and the rotten muck slid, spreading out the dumped out food waste naturally as it desecrated more of the pond floor. When this happened, it was just enough to release an airtight seal of a canister holding a genetically engineered slime. The vial had long since broken, but no air ever got into it due to the decayed plant matter above. Now that it was released, the slime came to life due to its contact with air. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @Chappie: As the slime followed the gently flowing water, stupid enough to not realize it was doing it intentionally due to lack of frames of reference to anything at all or any self-realization, it finally found some drier inorganic than it had been on. Something sharp poked the slime, and it hurt! Whatever it was, the slime had no idea, but it was inorganic. That much was certain. @Dewdrop: Nope, nothing! The slime's thunder wasn't able to grab a hold of the shiny, exciting brown that disappeared into the bright organic below. However, when its thunder hit the inorganic, some of it moved. The inorganic was darker there, and wet. The edge of the slime's thunder felt something that wasn't the same kind of wet it had felt before. What was this? It was the brown that had started escaping! @Tellin: Stabbing pain! The slime felt itself be pierced by many sharp organic points, and go upwards, the hot was even hotter now, if only by a little, and the wet was almost like it was totally submerged, but only in parts. The super wet parts of itself felt sticky now, and it realized that this sticky wet had a flavor... The slime couldn't get a hold of its senses right away, as it felt itself now be spun around and bounced up and down, the stabs becoming much more painful with every thrust both upwards and downwards. @Avvalue: The slime awoke for the first time, coming to life. Before it had any chance to get any reference of its surroundings, it felt something from part of itself- something organic and wet, with something very wrong with it forcing the slime to condense upon itself. Around it besides the organic, it felt inorganic. Useless inorganic that it couldn't move through.

OOC in 2 weeks (a little over 2 weeks) I move into my new house (those on Discord know this) and I can write then. I know it's been awhile; just I can't concentrate at this apartment. 98 F degrees with no air conditioner (previous guy who lived here died and the place wasn't cleaned right, the smell got into the air conditioner which is why I can't use it. Landlord doesn't want to admit there's a smell since it would mean having to replace the entire machine for someone already past their lease date and leaving to begin with). So don't worry; I will write more and have a lot of ideas, just I can't get them out while I live here still. August 1 I'll have a new post up unless there's a problem with the internet account transfer, but there shouldn't be.

OOC @ Squirrel: Can Tellin see? Also, Tellin did sleep, but I don't remember it being aware that such was a thing, so I'm having it being perceived as something appearing out of no where or time travel (which it is not capable of thinking... basically its surprised) ----------------------------------------- @Dewdrop: The shiny brown started running away, digging into the inorganic! Oh no! All this work and it escapes? Luckily the slime was close enough that it might be able to catch it. The inorganic the slime was travelling on became even shinier when the shiny brown touched it, almost like the shiny brown was leaving something behind as it dug. The air began moving, and the slime could feel it. It wasn't pushing the slime too badly, at least not enough to force it to go away from its potential meal. @Tellin: All of a sudden, the slime became aware of hot air being forced against it, but it didn't feel anywhere near as susceptible as it did before, or at least not to moving air. At least not on its top. Then the slime felt something even hotter, and wetter, and slimier, move it upwards and to the side. What the heck was this tough thing that just lifted it? It was gone. It could still feel the slime that was deposited on it though.

@Dewdrop: The hardened invisible skin stealing the melted shiny brown didn't move. It didn't move at all? Poking from other angles as the slime moved around it in circles poking over and over didn't seem to do much, but after doing this a lot, the inorganic the slime was walking around on seemed to raise itself up, and the melted shiny brown moved, still protected by the invisible.

@Dewdrop: As the slime got closer, its poor vision revealed nothing spectacularly new to it. The shiny was brown too, and had spread out. But it wasn't accessible for some reason, almost as if an invisible skin protected the slime from poking at it. The slime had seen something like this earlier, that made it look cylindrical... was that the shape of this inorganic skin-like thing?

@Tellin: (unlocked: foxtail weed) The bendy organic finally felt like it began to crush itself under the slime, after it slurped on top of it. Absorbing that what was touching it made even more of it, the altered flavor part, fall on top of the slime, but that too was absorbed. It was harder, and broke apart as it was absorbed, but it had little points that were surprisingly hard, even though the rest of it wasn't. Wait, something else was there, below, maybe hidden within this flavor. Ah! Nope, it was gone. What was it? Where did it go? @Venus: (unlocked: pine needles, bark, pine nut) The thing the slime found was certainly food; it was organic and durable, dense and light. The outermost layer peeled off in the best description as the slime absorbed into it, or maybe it just absorbed enough that the scales eventually weakened and came off on their own. Either way, the slime had dug quite far into the thing, and it broke in half. Trying to chase one of the pieces as it kept contact with the slime but rolled away, proved a good idea. Something sweet, sticky, and wet was found on the ground, on top of some other piece of organic that felt soggy and had things moving in it. @Ipunch: (unlocked: bile, bubblegum ball, sugar gland) Nope! The slime's anger didn't mean much of anything, except the slight tilting of the canister, making its opening closer to the side instead of top. Some of the organic poured over the slime and seemed to disappear into nothing, while it still smooshed its gooey not-actually-a-claw claw at the inorganic. Then the slime felt something else. It had pushed itself out of the inorganic enclosure, and felt itself slurping out, scraping along the sharp edges on its way down and out. @Vulpine: (unlocked: Indian scorpion chitin) The slime didn't know how long it took to wake up, but when it did, it was painfully bright. The slime had trouble seeing when it was bright like this, compared to how it could see when it was dark. Looking around, it did see some places that looked dark, so hopefully one of those places could be gotten to. There might even be some sort of organics hidden there, which it now felt the need to look for. Something strange near the slime that it hadn't noticed before looked wet. It looked like it might taste good, whatever it was. It was thinner than it was long, and circular. The top of the thing had a hole in it. @Aster: (unlocked: pear fruit) This organic was a yummy one, as it tasted sweet, was soft, and very juicy. Did Small have access to this? The up-wet continued coming down, and though it didn't have an effect on the slime's purple smoke, it did have an effect on the hot light. The up-wet got worse, as each drop was bigger and colder, and there were more of them coming. Hitting the slime in the face, it thought that maybe it might be best to just wait it out.

OOC I'm still writing the update, sorry. A Mormon missionary came over, and instead of preaching, we started playing Dungeons and Dragons every day. He offered, and some of the players already accepted (more information can be found on Discord) his offer- to become a secondary DM for Azure Wyrm so updates come in more consistently! I haven't gotten to play someone ELSE's roleplay, especially in person, since 1996 so I kind of stopped everything everywhere to be able to game with him. The update here shouldn't take much longer. @Tch'ah: Was it close? Was it far? The slime only knew it was shiny, but only sometimes. Whatever it was, and whether it was the right place or not, the slime couldn't know. But it did know that it felt sticky now, all over itself, and it got inorganic stuff from the ground stuck to its bill. When it jumped and landed, it got stuff stuck to its feet and the parts of itself that hit the ground too, and it felt squishier than usual too. But then the slime felt something organic above itself, but not a single thing. More like a bunch of small things that all tasted the same, with slightly pokey bits in their centers. @Tellin: The direction the organic that fell on it went was... that way. It was definitely that way. What and where it went, the slime couldn't know. But it did find something else that was organic, and tasted pretty interesting. Something hard, but somehow lightweight since it could be moved and even bent. Having the thing against itself and pushing on it, and feeling it bend and stay the same shape as the slime was an interesting feeling at the very least. It had traces of another flavor on it, that the slime couldn't figure out how to identify, not even slightly.

@Avialae: Figured out what was going on. You're eating a scorpion, but it stung you, so you're poisoned. The scorpion's front end is inside your mouth, but it got you with its tail. Not sure if you're blind or not though. I mean, probably able to see based on how I wrote stuff but maybe the 'front end' was just referring to the direction it was moving and you making touch-based assumptions. Anyway, you can respond to the most recent post to Vulpine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @Silver_Hatake: It wouldn't be long now. The wire mesh over the sewer grate attached to the sidewalk's curb was nearly entirely broken, bent down almost into a downward arc aimed at the sewer's widened tunnel. It wouldn't be long, until the rain made the decayed leaves and soggy paper fall in a clump down into the sewer. Below, on the ground of the wash itself, was a slime canister, resting on a broken 8"x2'x1" board. The rain dislodged the clump of foliage and it came in a single cluster down the wash, and fell on the opposite end of the board. The mostly-empty paint can beneath the board provided just the right angle to make this something exciting, if anything was around to see it, which there wasn't. The canister was flung upwards and at the cement wall the leaves had come from, and the glass vial shattered. The slime inside came to life with the addition of air, and fell into the cold putrid water below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @Aster: (unlocked: concord grape skin) The thing growing from the organic the slime was hiding in to stay away from the wet, while watching the hot lights go away, was very bitter! A flavor the slime hadn't grown accustomed to. Looking around, there were other things stuck around in the limbs of the organic, and not far away was another strip of that black flat on the ground that the slime had seen once before. Was it the same one, or maybe a different one? It wasn't sure. But before it could get distracted any further with this, the other slime that the slime was waiting for had appeared, and almost crashed into it! Some of the thinner organic parts on the limb were broken off and fell into the hot light below, but as the lights were weakening, it didn't seem like anything would happen because of it. The clumsy slime the slime was friends with opened its wings and landed on a limb below the one the slime was perched on. @Zeditha: The up-glowy on the edge of the horizon was going up more and more, almost taunting the slime. Laughing at the slime that it couldn't be caught... or at least not yet. But with more light, the slime was able to notice something off to a side, in the direction of a tall green organic, was some white puffy coming out of it. The slime remembered that it saw something like this a few times before... but should it investigate or avoid it? Something else caught not the slime's visual sense right away, but its sense of smell. There was a big thing with mostly flat edges on the down going very fast along the black, heading away from the tall things it had left and heading towards- @Chappy: The slime felt awake, alive! For the first time, once air contacted it, it now became an independent life form, and conscious. Not conscious in a sapient manner, but instinctual one. It felt itself go forward, not feeling anything except movement within the air. Then it felt something hard, inorganic, and rough, and it slammed into it somewhat painfully. Then the slime felt itself go down, and touch something cold and wet, and it had a flavor to it that was yucky. Then it went down, and the slime was fully covered in the yucky wet. It had thought it felt something organic above it, but it couldn't feel it now. @Yawela: (unlocked: sand bee digging instinct) The slime was getting more and more of the grainy stuff stuck all over it, and it still wasn't able to expel all of the stuff it had gotten inside itself. It was almost as if there was now a hole inside the slime, and a path out as well, all coated in the inorganic grainy innards of the thing the slime had thought was alive but wasn't. Maybe this next thing wasn't organic either, even though it looked like it was? It was funny. The parts of the slime that touched, or got close to touching, its slime that touched the inorganic was actually able to move easier, for the most part. It wasn't shifting as bad now that it was covered in the grainy. The organic it was following kept moving quickly, faster than the slime could. Then the slime realized something- it was going up. It was so focused on that, that it didn't even realize it found the big first organic it found. @Dewdrop: Something inside the blue was left for the slime, and the blue went away and got smaller and flat. The thing that the blue left was some sort of slime, just like the slime, or so the slime thought. It could be seen through easily, and it was a funny cylindrical shape. Inside, there were little shiny things, but the slime couldn't figure out what it was. The shape fell over on its longer edge, and when it did, some of the shiny inside spilled out onto the brown. But that wasn't the only strange thing the slime noticed that the blue left for it. Nearly touching the shiny was something that made the shiny start to... melt? It was white and a strange shape the slime couldn't identify. It couldn't even tell whether or not it was organic. @Sevak: The big black flappy came off the tall green thing, and went up. Another black shape appeared on the ground and followed the up-flappy and they both disappeared, moving faster than the slime could hope to. The small flappies flopped and wobbled around on the ground and started moving their heads, aiming upwards with their movements. What were they trying to do? Whatever it was, the other slime that had helped the slime get the flappies down started doing something, and looked like it was going to eat the little flappies the slime had so much interest in! @Tellin: (unlocked: glue trap glue gland) As the slime waited for something edible to come to it, it couldn't help but notice that the ambient temperature around it started to decrease, and not by a small amount. It continued waiting. It got even colder. Maybe the slime would have to go search for somewhere warmer, and maybe with some sort of organic, since nothing came to it by itself. Something touched the slime from above, but then it was gone. Was something beginning to happen, or was the slime just hungry again? @Avisk: (unlocked: mangrove leaf) The slime saw the other slime, and managed to avoid it, but smashing into the main part of the organic wasn't something that felt good. Tearing off and consuming some of it was something that helped it begin to recover its strength and satiate its hunger though, even though it was a very minor benefit. Other things were stuck on the edges of the organic, but an even bigger pile was spread far out, and piled upwards to a long peak. Holding itself against the organic started to feel warm, and backing away from the main part and walking out onto the limb was a little better. The hot lights below were nearly gone, and the wet from up was mostly avoiding the slime because of the green flats on the other limbs above it. @Dianora: The hurty was not very big... maybe a little under half the slime's size! Now that it was smashed into, the creature didn't move, and it didn't make more hurties! The slime knew the only thing it cared about right now, maybe the only thing that ever mattered. Not only that, but the area the organic was in didn't have another way out, and it was a bigger, wider, circular shape. There was other organic around here, but only on the bottom of the new shape the slime found.

OOC @ Squirrel: Usually holidays suck a lot, but this year one reader of my book sent me a huge box of fudge and snacks, and a player here bought me a few games, and one of my other friends bought me Harvest Moon, and I bought a bunch of stuff too. Thanks, Steam Sales! Also, if you go on the Discord then you'll find the "event" page is pinned and you can read all the details of all the events. You get: Christmahanzakwannikuh, Halloween, and Thanksgiving event rewards. One each! Also yeah, I don't remember Tellin ever growing anything, so you're spot-on. Everyone gets one each for each character that's active (including Sevak). @Zeditha: Your eyes are suited to underwater sight, not above-water, so go ahead and extrapolate my meaning. ---------------------------------------------------- @Zeditha: The creature made a wretched squawk of some kind, one she wasn't familiar with. Looking at the animal caught in her clutches, it was something she already knew, as it was part of herself, something she got the ears but not hearing of. It was a mottled brown in color, and seeing and sensing that there wasn't anything wrong with it, the slime thought twice, for some unknown reason, about consuming it. Maybe it shouldn't? But it was now rather heavily injured and probably couldn't survive long on its own anymore, so there wasn't much to do besides eat it. Black things strung between the green organics, and those looked good enough to perch on. @Tellin: The slime had severe difficulty in stretching any part of itself around at this point, even to find the rest of the original sticky that bound the slime, but it was able to find and consume it all... probably. The slime's exhaustion lasted for quite awhile, but eventually it felt itself not feel sticky on its outside anymore, at least. It felt the inorganic that was stuck to it because of the sticky fall off of itself! @Yawela: (unlocked: ribbon) The thing tried to get away as the slime pulled on it, but the slime was strong enough, or maybe had absorbed enough of the thing to get it lodged in itself, to keep it from escaping. It was... inorganic? The organic on the bulbous part of the thing was finally able to be tasted, and it tasted sweet. It DID taste sweet, but then the sweetness was absorbed and out of the thing poured gritty inorganic into the slime's insides. @Ipunch: The slime was able to pool its strength and newly acquired biomass into a shape, though it didn't feel hard at all, like it should. It felt gooey, and punching the smooth inorganic didn't make any difference. More of the cold-sweet glurped against the slime, but the outside part wasn't as cold as the rest of it was, as another flavor was touching it. A hot-temperatured acidic taste. @Dianora: The residue wasn't solid at all, but liquid and salty and warm and partially, even this quickly, absorbed into the ground. But there were little grains of organic leading the slime forward, and it very quickly found something that HURT A LOT AT ITS FRONT! It felt something cold, and organic brush against it, then it felt the OUCH THERE IT IS AGAIN!

OOC @ Zeditha: I'll await you to post for your slimes like discussed over Discord. ----------------------------------------- @Yawela: (unlocked: itching powder gland) Moving around in no particular direction, the slime came to a bumpy inorganic thing with a forward-curve to it that felt good to rub against. The texturing on the thing was perfectly bumpy with smooth parts, and stayed nice and still as the slime smashed itself into it with everything it had, for whatever reason. Whatever this thing was, it felt so good that even the itchy parts inside the slime seemed to soothe themselves! Finally, the slime could concentrate on finding more organic. It knew that where it came from had more... @Zeditha: The strange animals made even more noise, and scampered in all directions. Usually whenever creatures did this around the slime, it went on the hunt- but each of these were individually bigger than it was, and there were a few of them... the slime didn't have confidence that this would be a good idea. Time for a new approach, or maybe a total lack of it. Maybe escape is a better idea. They were made of food, but this just wasn't a good idea, and the slime knew that. Plus, most of the things around here didn't look organic, so what was the point in staying? @Dianora: Really, not that much organic was gained from consuming this grained organic filling the rims of the hole, but it did give the slime enough room to move around, or turn around at least. Something glistened nearby, but the slime couldn't tell what it was. It wasn't there anymore. Then it was. Then it moved, and was gone. As it left, the slime couldn't help notice that there was some sort of organic residue left by the glistens.

@Ipunch: (unlocked: blue food coloring, red food coloring, bull tail, hooves, bovine skin) The slime began to absorb the cold-sweet, and it made the rest of the slime colder as it did so, but the heat from the inorganic it was apparently stuck in helped to counter it. The two temperatures merging and fighting within its slime was an odd feeling, but that's also when the slime realized, by consuming something, that it was hungry. Hungry? Allowing its slime's surface tension to decrease and the stuff to fall inside itself and dissolve made the hunger not as bad. Its instincts told it that it could destroy things near it if it did a thing, and it instinctively tried to do it, but it didn't have the body part needed.

OOC @ PossiblyInsane: Character sheet approved. And you're already in the Discord! ----------------------------------------------------------- @PossiblyInsane: "One Mr. Bubble Eyes, please." The scruffy-looking man bought a vaguely man-shaped ice cream on a stick from the snack bar. Opening it, he saw the bubblegum spheres that were supposed to resemble eyes were misplaced and of differing sizes, becoming uninterested in his treat right off the bat. "Get out of the way! There are other people in line, you know!" The man with the ice cream man got out of the way, shambling off to the side, tossing the trash on the ground, which blew off with the sea breeze. It was sunny and early afternoon, but it felt like a desert. The man bit into his ice cream, immediately hurting his sensitive teeth. "What the hell? Since when is ice cream cold!?!" he rhetorically asked no one, throwing his ice cream almost like a football player would score a touchdown, into the nearest trash can. Not that he was trying to throw things away in a proper place, he just needed to use it as leverage as he drunkenly wharfed his lunch in after his snack. What he didn't know, what no one knew, is somehow yet another slime sample container was hidden in the refuse, and the ambient heat absorbed into the trash can's metal frame and the coldness of the ice cream caused it to crack open on top, making a jagged hole running the canister's length. That's when the ice cream, wooden stick embedded within it, and ferocious coating of exuberant ralph-ation entered as well. The slime inside awoke... ----------------------------------------------------------- @Ipunch: ? The slime came to life, coming to consciousness for the first time. The first thing it noticed was that it was warm a lot, and it was in an inorganic smooth cylindrical shape, but painful things it couldn't eat were on top of it. Before it could attempt to learn or understand anything of its surroundings, they changed. Something painfully cold and frightfully sweet attacked it from above, and then something even wetter and also organic came into contact with the slime.
