  1. I'm okay with paid perks that don't leave other users feeling left out. In fact I'd love to pay to change my username (forum username specifically). Flight Rising is an example of when paid perks goes too far. Real money translates to a virtual currency that can get you very desirable things. Users who don't pay often feel that they are missing out on these things. You can still earn that virtual currency in other ways without having to spend $$ but it is a tiresome process. It's probably the reason I ditched FR so quickly. THAT ^ sounds like FR to me. I am very reluctant to put money into a virtual game. I have stuck with DC for so long because I have the same opportunities as everyone else. It's a simple game and I've never felt pressured to spend a cent. That's kind of rare to find in a good adoptables site. But if it so happens that I ever have to choose between 1) spending real $$ and 2) spending more time/effort than paying users, I'm probably going with secret option #3: bye, DC. Paying to change your own dragon's gender? I'm all for it. It doesn't put you ahead of others. Paying to change your username? Ditto. Paying to spend less time and effort than users who can't pay because their parents won't allow it, they don't have the funds, etc.? Nope

    Otherkin

Agreed. But I still feel too out of my comfort zone saying a sentence along the lines of "Bob went to the store and bought catself a hat because cat thought it looked nice on cat." It doesn't read well. It doesn't make sense. I know it's not about me, an outsider, when it comes to the pronoun preferences of otherkin. That is why I always review their accepted/preferred pronouns and use one that they're okay with. So far I've never met anyone who didn't list an actual pronoun as an option. Therefore I always go with the actual pronoun. If I encounter an otherkin who does not list any actual pronouns as "okay to use", and only lists neonoun options, idk what I'll do. Probably use whatever they want and feel weird while doing so. I'm not going to be rude and say "k, I'm flat out ignoring your pronoun preferences because they aren't really pronouns." It's not about me. But if it's an option, "she/he/they/xe/ze" is what I'm going to use. The grammar argument regarding "they" is one I'm familiar with. But Otherkin are currently too culturally obscure for me to do proper research on why "catself" could ever be considered grammatically okay.
  3. From the cave: incubate, wait 24 hours, pop them in 2-4 hatcheries. I use AoND, EATW, Silvi's lair, and DragHatch as a last-resort. From the AP: only incubate if they have like 4d20h or something like that. Anything below 4d10h gets left alone. There's no need to wait 24 hours before hatchery-entering, like with CB eggs. I think this is pretty much the method that most other users follow.
  4. One word names. Had to take some liberties with spelling/plurality. I have: Spectres Spectrall Spirituals Spirituall Spirrited As you can see, they relate either to specters or spirits. So original. =P

    Otherkin

While I may not understand or relate to otherkin (especially those with spiritual/soul connections to non-human things, as I am not a big believer in souls or spirituality), I know better than to disregard their beliefs and experiences. I have no problem with (and no strong feelings about) otherkin - my motto is "you do you, as long as it's not keeping someone else from doing the same." Basically I don't tolerate ignorance or hatefulness. I still tilt my head questioningly when I come across otherkin people, only because it's relatively unfamiliar to me. But so far they've all been nice and reasonable people. My only "issue" is the whole pronoun thing, only because I cannot, and will not, treat nouns as pronouns. If an otherkin has a list of acceptable pronouns, I will always go with the actual pronoun option (she, he, they, xe/ze) than "catself, plantself, bunself" etc., only because it makes no grammatical sense. edited for typo edit again to note that I'm using the term 'otherkin' as an umbrella for what the first post deems two different things, Otherkin and Therians.
  6. You owe someone a CB Gold? Yeah, that's bad luck. ~ My bad luck is that there's no such thing as Incubate for hatchlings. I've been hatchie-locked for what feels like forever.
  7. Caught a CB Black hatchie in the AP. Ah, I remember when these were rare
  8. Grabbed this hoping it would alt. It didn't, but it's so pretty that I have to keep it anyway.
  9. Oh look, it didn't alt. What kind of deity do I have to appease in order to get one of these elusive dark green menaces??
  10. Not really my current bad luck, since this problem has existed for me since I joined DC 5 years ago, but I cannot for the life of me get an Alt Vine. I've raised a small army of Vines trying to get an Alt, with no luck. Fingers crossed for the 2G Vine egg I just picked up from the AP and incubated.
  11. That is very impressive. Even if I'd been here as long as you have, I wouldn't have half that amount. ~ My last Spirit Ward hatched and I've had some nice luck with all the low time eggs in the AP these past couple of days: in total I've snagged a CB Magma, CB Vine (two, actually, but I let go of one), CB and 2G Black Teas (and a messy one for freezing), and a pretty Red tinselkin that I don't even need - I definitely have enough Reds but can't stop grabbing them
  12. So rainy. I fear Florida may dissolve into the ocean. There are aquatic turtles in my backyard. Can't drive ten feet without having to stop and help a turtle cross the road. Pretty soon catfish are going to start crossing the streets as well. If we get a hurricane later, we're dead. All this loose wet soil is not going to bode well for the trees and things when a hurricane comes.

I'm still fangirling over this whole concept. Imagine a quiet cave at night with these guys keeping a wary eye out and glowing like a fireplace. Imagine scared-of-the-dark hatchies staying close to the friendly glowy dragons who promise to keep scary things away. Ok, baby dragons being afraid of the dark is probably a little unrealistic in regards to DC canon, but still. So cute. I love these dragons and I'm starting a fan club.

I'M FREAKING OUT. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE BATHING IN FLAMES. FREAKING OUT
  15. Yes. Yes. This has been my plan since the moment I saw the glowing hatchies.

  19. Got a second CB Summer egg and found a CB Magma in the AP.

On my monitor the sprites are a nice deep purple and I can see most details. They don't look like black blobs to me. The sprites appear darker and the details more obscured on mobile, though.
