  1. Well, ok, is it possible to address one of the biggest issues with the new silvers - Can they appear less blurry in the lineage view? Personally, I also think they look smaller in the lineage view than they used to, but if they were given better definition, the size difference might go away. Is there any way to ink the lines of the silvers to give them better definition? Example of the washed out appearance of the male silver, especially.
  2. *sigh* There went a ton of my silver lineages. They're too thin and too bright and it changes the look of most lines. As I suspected would happen. No love for the new silvers, sorry spriter. Hang in there! The new blue two-headed look, though, is nice. It will make them look a lot better with their newer counterparts.

I've written here before about how any CB holiday will refuse the first try with any breed I haven't bred it with yet. First try with SW x blue lunar. I did get the egg I needed on the final breeding after using Fertilize. But 3 refusals?? That's 33%!
  4. Happy Halloween, everyone! May your candy be yummy and your eggs hatch early! And thank you, Cave, for another memorable birthday! <3
  5. Oh, honeys, try being born on Halloween. No one ever forgets your birthday and everyone wants either you to host a party or to host a party for you. When Halloween falls on a weekend, (F-Sun), it's an even busier day. This year, if I don't zombie and catch eggs in the midnight hour, I'm going to be falling asleep during all the very kind and wonderful things my Real Life people have planned for me. Boo hoo, embarrassment of riches, right? But a second day of Halloween eggs dropping sure would take the timing pressure off. Plus, I would really like to collect some eggs from October 31 and then some from November 1, which is the Day of the Dead, All Saints Day and All Souls Day, depending on what you like to celebrate. In fact, it would be super fun if a future Halloween dragon was based on the Day of the Dead; it would be creepy and colorful and a nice change of pace. Anyway! Add me as a supporter for a two-day drop. I'd love a 3-day drop because it would let me get in one more batch of bred dragons, but I understand the logic behind limiting the drop of an unlimited holiday. (And, as I say every year, DC Halloween is easily among my best presents, no matter how it happens) +1 for two days!

I wanted them together because of their codes. Honestly.

This has been happening for over a year now. I breed my holidays for gifts and trades quite often, and I'm not kidding when I say the first breeding with a new dragon type has always refused this past year. I'm learning not to try names together that might fit well, although I totally forgot about that today. *sigh*
  8. Congratulations!!! *throws confetti*

These are two older 4g PB dragons that refused. Of Course. Took me a couple months to find the gold from someone. Nice.
  10. Look, the Nilias are fine, but this is what I meant when I said it messes with lineages when the shape changes drastically. If I wasn't done with Pumpkin/Nilia, I wouldn't pursue it any further this year. The old Nilia filled the frame better and looked rounder to match the pumpkin. I'm not sure what I'll do about the Horse/Ribbondancer. Again, there's the frame-filling issue, but also the simpler old male Horse sprite made all the bells and whistles on the Ribbondancer stand out more. Now they're both very "busy" sprites and it just don't look good to me. I honestly do like all 3 new sprites, but I wouldn't have chosen them as lines to work on with the mates I put them with if I'd known they were going to be so drastically changed later. I'm not crying over it, but I am pointing out that this is why people who like to breed lineages get tense over sprite updates. It honestly didn't occur to me that the Nilias were going to be essentially brand new. They're certainly different enough from the old Nilias to have become their own breed instead of an update. And, one more time, I like the updates. I just don't like them in some of my lines!
  11. Actually, it is wrong to expect people to sit on their hands and not express their feelings of trepidation. There's nothing wrong with being wary of change and saying so. In fact, it's comments like this that other people are talking about when they say that their opinions are being repressed and disrespected by other forumers with more "sunny side" opinions. We already have the example of the switch from old gold to the new golds - that was a big overhaul; the new golds don't look a thing like old golds. That could happen with the silvers. Yes, we don't know yet what will happen, but I think people have a right to trepidation, which is all I've seen expressed here. No one is pre-hating a sprite they haven't seen, but by previous sprite change example, they're worried and they're saying so. The continued responses of surprise, disbelief, and disappointment that anyone would be wary of an update to a very old and widely beloved sprite are repressive. You don't see responses from the wary saying "How can you be looking forward to something like this? Why would you want the sprite changed? How can you be happy about a sprite you haven't even seen yet?" It's a news thread. We're discussing the news and speculating, good and bad, on information given in the news. It's not wrong to express either or any opinion within the forum rules.
  12. Blusangs were once as rare as silver. So were Caveborn Blacks. So were Spessartine Pyralspites. So still are Almandine Pyralspites. We've all wasted time and trading on rare dragons that become more common later. So would go the old Silver based on Syphoneira's suggestion. As many of you keep saying, Change Happens, so if the old Silvers were to become more common while new Silvers become the new rare, that works for all the Change Happens people, right? Give the old Silvers a new description, up their drop rate and new Silvers can have the "beautiful glow" description and rare drop rate. I like this idea if the new Silvers are wildly different from the old ones. I'm one of those people who base my lineage breeding on shape and color of the dragons, so a change in pose and color of any dragon can mess with my lines. Silvers happen to be one of the oldest dragons receiving an update, thus the change affects more breeders and lineages. Personally, I suspect the Silver update won't be too drastic, but if it is, introducing the new Silvers as a new breed would be a good compromise.
  13. I have this same checker out to trades, looking for a bloodswap, and to find one in the AP is just...amazing. Thank you, breeder! http://dragcave.net/lineage/GF8Ts
  14. I had to come here and give props to Terces. I picked up this 4g Blue Nebula x Ice in the AP 2 years ago, and thought I'd never find a mate unless I bred it. Breeding projects being what they are, I hadn't even thought of starting it when a mate from Terces came my way via the AP and a friend's catch. And Breeding being what it is, they promptly refused. I wrote Terces and asked about the possibility of a new mate. She said sure, and then I let it go, because I know lots of people forget about these things, and I hold them no ill will when that happens. If the breeding comes to me, I look at it as a great surprise gift. And finally, after trying for a couple months, Terces gets back to me with an ice! This time, after a long-held breath, the dragons did not refuse!! Two-year-old dragon has a mate! I'm offering the offspring here for a couple hours, but if there's no interest now, here's the code for anyone who wants to fish it out of the AP: http://dragcave.net/lineage/Bk4it http://dragcave.net/teleport/1366e1db0aa7b...2abba37971ea91d All thanks to Terces. She made my day! <3
  15. Date of Refusal: Sept. 15, 2015 Time of Refusal: 6 and 6:40 p.m. Cave Time Pairing That Refused: http://dragcave.net/view/VR3Xl x http://dragcave.net/view/lP5Aj - 6pm Pairing That Refused: http://dragcave.net/view/GIBpW x http://dragcave.net/view/MN6Up - 6:40pm Dragon Breeds: Male Summer x Female Spring - both Extra Info: I was breeding to start a new checker and the first two pairs refused. The next two produced. So, technically, 50/50.
  16. I'm starting to wonder if there will be blue moons after Noon until midnight.
  17. I'm confused. According to the link, both golden and blue moon are waning gibbous.
  18. I took one! Thank you!! <3
  19. SNEAKY! I got one before the site went down. In my only slot...OY! <3
  20. I nabbed Tilly. I'm trying not to over-collect 2g Xenos, but people make it so hard to avoid them! ~_^ Thank you!
  21. I'm giving the community a first shot at this egg. It's a 3g summer x 09 valentine from a Dusk holiday pair. On two-way so I know where it goes. Offering a dummy egg on this is your agreement not to trade with this egg. Thanks! http://dragcave.net/teleport/3aa02367debb8...822cf90389c0218
  22. Tallyra, I did claim both, mainly because I couldn't resist the cool names on them! In my head, there's a pretty multi-color lineage to be made with Gemshards. It might just take some experimentation to get it right. Thank you so much!
  23. Need a little help. Can someone breed me an unrelated 6th gen winter start to this spring? http://dragcave.net/lineage/sSbhj I thought I had avoided inbreeding, but the other 6th gen I'm able to breed is related, dangit. I have it on two-way trade if you want to offer a mate on it. It's incuhatchable. If someone gifts me instead of offering a trade, I will gift my egg to the thread. http://dragcave.net/teleport/92ea06f3978d8...885683f7c68c10b Also, as always, I'm happy to breed seasonals for anyone watching the thread; just PM me your request and be ready to take it. I add new 2g starts every season and none of them have been put to use this spring yet. Pure-breds, too.
  24. Neato! Also, chat - I told you so! ~_^ Thanks, TJ! Happy Birthday, Cave!
  25. Lily, you're not the only one who's committed to that line. A friend of mine has been working on it, too, and I bred for her. She was lucky enough to get two blues when she only needed one, so she gave mine back so I can work on the line, too: http://dragcave.net/lineage/0913U I'll change those names once I'm further along, but at least I'll be able to get to 3g! Also, I hope no one minds if I share a little pout. http://dragcave.net/lineage/3OREz http://dragcave.net/lineage/DDc7j AP finds two years apart. I caught the nebula in 2013 and had it in the back of my mind as a "someday" project, but then a friend found the ice and passed it to me...and they refused. As I kind of expected them to because when I do find mates in the AP they almost always refuse. Which seems ridiculous, but here we are, right? There is a light at the end of the tunnel - Terces is an angel and is going to try for the ice for me again, but I imagine I'm in for a wait, knowing how hard it is to get an ice as opposed to a common. Although I've had replacements refuse up to 3 times.... Fertility will not be enough for the next one, I'm going to have to perform a ritual dance or something. I don't have the stones to ask for an ice breeding 3 times!
